04/05: Mexico

CMLL (FRI) 04/04 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, ESTO, Alvin @ El Martiente]
1) Molotov, Sombra de Plata, Starman b Apocalipsis, Ramstein, Zayco
2) Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr., Súper Nova b Loco Max, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
3) Axxel, La Máscara, Sagrado b Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus
4) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto b Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico
5) LA Park b Último Guerrero

Ovaciones shreds the main event, saying it was the worst fight of the night and of many nights. No one else is so harsh on it. According to what was said last week, this is supposed to mean we get a UG/Park mask match but that seems hard to believe. No one mentions that in their notes, which probably means they didn’t build that stip up in any notable way.

Averno vs Mistico was the the focus of the semimain. Averno yanked Mistico’s mask and pinned him for the win.

Axel looks okay, but Ovaciones notes he used many of Santo and El Hijo del Santo’s moves rather than create his own identity. The people were very accepting of Axxel, and he was giving a bouquet of roses before the match.

SuperLuchas says AAA will be part of the Lucha Libre Expo. They passed on it last year, and this means every major group (and some minor ones) will be involved.

MedioTiempo has an interview with Charly Manson. It does not sound like he now plans on retiring any time soon.

  1. Big Intocable concert against AAA tonight. Wonder if that will hurt attendance?

No publicity on the radio stations I’m listening to from Torreon. I guess AAA feels they’ll draw big off their tv and newspapers coverage.

  2. Multimedios Radio finally ran an ad for tonights show. They give the main event and say it’s a tv taping. An ad for tomorrows event in the same bullring promises at least six bulls will be killed.

  3. Publicity for AAA tonight’s show has been the same as always, I’d love to go but I would get there just for the top 3 of the card so I guess I’ll pass.

I didn’t know Intocable’s in Torreon as well, last time AAA did a major show, Jaguares was in town, which might have affected them. Prices are too high, I guess that’s the main reason neither AAA nor CMLL are interested in doing shows in the US, they can pull lots of expensive (10-45 dollar tickets) over here, while in the US prices are not that high and attendances would be lower.

I wonder if Intocable is using Coliseo Centenario…

  4. XEJ was coming is worse than usual, finally lost it. and I couldn’t get into canal 44 the feed was gone. And Cadena Tres is coming in slide show mode.

  5. Intocable is running a baseball stadium. Plus Santos are playing on tv, but not at home, but I think AAA will still get a crowd.
