03/10 Arena Puebla Results (¡new tag champs!)

CMLL (MON) 03/10 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano, Super Star, SWAT b Espiritu Maligno, Furia Chicana, Karisma
2) Batman, the Tiger, Tigre Rojo b Flecha, Negro Navarro, Policeman
3) Ohara, Shigeo Okumura, Virus b Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr.
4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, Grey Shadow, Negro Casas
5) Héctor Garza & Místico b Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

Mistico got Averno in the third fall. Referee Rodolfo Ruiz, suspiciously seemingly always scheduled to work his son’s big matches, got distracted checking on him and missed Mephisto fouling Mistico. While Ruiz was still looking the wrong way, Hector fouled Mephsito in revenge, and moonsaulted him to win the titles.

Averno & Mephisto were champions for only 40 days. This is Mistico’s 3rd title reign, and he’s now back to being a four belt champion. Hector Garza has never won the tag team titles before, and is actually a three belt champion (CMLL Trios, WWA Tag – both up in the air due to his turn.)

Now we know what the tag title match got pulled from the PPV. Also, Chui’s point about life getting worse once you join the Perros gets proved again.

03/09 AAA TV Results (Texcoco)

AAA TV (SUN) 03/09 Plaza de Toros Silverio Perez, Texcoco, EdM [ESTO]
1) Argenis, Gato Eveready, Pegasso b Ángel Mortal, Gallego, Mr. Cóndor
2) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera, Ultimo Gladiador
4) Billy Boy & Super Fly b Antifaz del Norte & Histeria and Chris Stone & Super Calo [Rey de Reyes, qualifying]
4) Aero Star, Intocable, Octagón b Decnnis, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido
5) Extreme Tiger, Halloween, TJ Xtreme b Kenzo Suzuki, Konnan, Mr. Niebla
6) Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico b Abismo Negro, Head Hunter I, Zorro

Projected Air Date (#828)
Mexico: 03/24/08
US: 04/12/08

With Abismo turning tecnico, the main event was not going to work. No idea where Ron Killings is (perhaps he’s done here early?), but Zorro is back to being the Hell Brothers punching bag. Legion and Vipers did manage to lay Abismo out after the match, and he took a strecher ride leading into Rey de Reyes.

Familia de Tijauna got a somewhat inexplicable win, Halloween beating Konnan (replacing X-Pac, while Niebla took Zorro’s spot.) I presume this is make up for all the losses they suffered lately.

Aerostar took the empty spot on the tecnico side and got a win. Yay for him. Billy Boy and Super Fly won, as figured. Clowns are at 92 wins, just in time to get 100 at Rey de Reyes, provided they eventually get opponents. Have they announced the lineup on TV yet, because it occurs to me it isn’t on the website. The opener also occurred.

Not only do we have 16 of 16 Rey de Reyes participants, but ESTO also posted the first round matchups. Let’s see if I can read them correctly

Group 1: Elegido, Mr. Niebla, Mascara Divina, Zumbido
Group 2: Alan Stone, Decnnis, Head Hunter, Pirata Morgan
Group 3: Abismo Negro, Super Porky, Psicosis, Aerostar
Group 4: Zorro, Scorpio Jr., Billy Boy, Super Fly

Hmmm. Mr. Niebla, Alan Stone, Abismo Negro, Zorro still works.

Upcoming Shows
03/16: Plaza de Toros Monumental, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon (Rey de Reyes)
at some point, there’s gotta be more.

AAA 02/16/08 (#820)

taped 01/19/08, aired 02/16/08

If you ever find yourself standing in front of a table that’s leaning in the corner, you need to move. If you’re being held there, don’t worry too much, because the guy holding you will let go just in time for you to move and die in your place, but don’t be holding people yourself.

This was a lot of things going, that have been going for a while, and I don’t know if there will ever be an actual conclusion.

Mini Abismo vs Mini Charly is never going anywhere, right? Because Mini Abismo is never losing his mask while normal Abismo is around, Charly losing his hair would be really dumb, and there’s no minis title in AAA. I wonder if they’ll turn Mini Abismo to match normal Abismo. That would be really dumb. (Maybe he can be Mini Mr. Niebla?)

It was the same for most every other match. Lots of middle time filling chapters going on, and not with anything really great. The Halloween/Chessman has been better than could’ve been expected, but I don’t expect this to be a trend.,

And then it rained. So I can pass on this.

03/10: Guadalajara

CMLL (SUN) 03/09 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT, ix @ box y lucha]
3) Metatron & Oro II b Fraile de la Muerte & Guero Loco
4) Mascarita Dorada & Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Black Warrior & Pierrothito
5) Atenea, Hiroka, Medussa b Luna Mágica, Marcela, Silueta
6) Dos Caras Jr., Rayman, Sagrado DQ Danger (Guadalajara), Olímpico, Satánico

Lizmark Jr. missed the main event. That’s his move. Tecnicos nearly had the third fall won, so Satanico fouled Sagrado and yanked Dos’ mask. Satanico decided this meant he got a heavyweight title match. Works for me. Ix’s recap says the show was quarter fall.

Ovaciones timed the Coliseo Women’s title match in at 12:23. Sick Mistico @ box y lucha has another recap of the show. trevor_time @ box y lucha posted photos of the Wagner show in Torreon.

El Universal has a bio of Irma Gonzalez, now 70.

El Mesias told Univision that Sunday is Cibernetico’s last chance. Rey de Reyes is Sunday, which is odd to me.

colombiandragon @ El Martinete posted an interview with Colombia @ Terry Golden

03/09: Coliseo, IWRG, lineups

CMLL (SUN) 03/09 Arena Coliseo [TAKER @ el Martiente]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II DQ Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Fire, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween b Bracito de Oro, Pequeño Olímpico, Tzuki
3) Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Máximo b Damián 666, Ephesto, Texano Jr.
4) Amapola b Dark Angel [CMLL WOMEN]
5) Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero b LA Park, Negro Casas, Volador Jr.

Ultimo fouled Volador and pinned him for the win. Ultimo and Volador argued after the match, and will be on opposite sides next week.

Amapola took the second and third falls. I think that’s the beginning of a story and not the end.

Rayos won the first fall, and one got their mask yanked in the second.

IWRG (SUN) 03/02 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas #254]
1) Ambar & Bacteria b Judas el Traidor & Semental
2) Halcon Salvaje & Star Boy b Trauma I & Trauma II
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Chicoe Che, Freelance, Soberano
4) Cyborg, El Hijo del Diablo, Xibalba b Bogeman, Mr. America, Negro Navarro
5) Black Terry, Cien Caras Jr., El Hijo de Pierroth b El Hijo del Solitario, Tarzan Boy, Ultramán Jr.

Tarzan is a tecnico here, having been turned on previously. Multifacetico missed the show, out from injuries suffered in his title match with Black Terry. Mr. America is not Hulk Hogan, I think.

Tarzan’s interviewed in the latest superluchas. He’s still under CMLL suspension, and may be for three more months, but he talked to them and they gave him the okay to work here until he’s back. He’s enjoying the chance to work on the tecnico side for the first time in a long, and to work at all. Toscano confirms he changed to that name in CMLL because of licensing issues – they couldn’t market Tarzan Boy action figures because someone else had the rights to the names. Toscano’s looked far more sculpted these days and he credits it to things he learned at a bodybuilding exhibition. Toscano specifically denies being on steroids – he feels like he’d gain too much weight, and it’s hurt him in the ring.

There’s also a good Gray Shadow in the magazine. He spells it with an ‘a’ there.

IWRG (THU) 03/06 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas #254]
1) Bacteria b Rey Estruendo
2) Trauma I & Trauma II b Avisman & Chico Che
3) Black Terry, Mr. Matanza, Veneno b Fantasma de la Ópera, Freelance, Multifacético
4) el Hijo Del Anibal b Máscara Año 2000, Pantera, Ultramán Jr., Toscano, Negro Navarro, Septiembre Negro II, El Hijo del Solitario [cage, Leyende de Seda]

It’s a good thing they Hijo de Anibal won, or the big picture of Anibal they had him pray in front of after the match would’ve been kinda out of place. (Maybe it’s there always. Perhaps.) Anyway, Universo 2000 ran in after the match to attack Anibal, and Toscano ran him off. Universo’s going to actually wrestle a match next week.

Accion

CMLL: Averno vs Hector. Clips of Avenro hitting his finisher (but not getting the pin), and of Averno’s whole (well, 90%) exposed face when Garza rips the mask. Not sure I would’ve gone with that, but okay. Perro runs in and then back sinto the crowd,. Garza gests the twisting moonesualt for the win.

AAA: Octagon, Laredo Kid, Gronda vs Mr. Niebla, Histeria, Psicosis. Beside the opener, this was the match to cut from the actual show if they want 1:45, because it’s kinda irrelevant. So it get plenty of time here.Three people (if you count Gronda) are standing outside the ring to catch Laredo Kid’s springboard twisting moonsault, and Laredo Kid doesn’t get caught. Professional! Gronda actually comes closest. Niebla missed on his handspring, but his leadership causes Psicosis to hit Octagon with a chair. Niebla does get the the Nieblina for the win.
