03/16: GALLI, highlights, links, lineups

Quick GALLI results, assuming I can remember them all right

GALLI (SUN) 03/16 Ramada Inn, Glendale Heights, IL
1) El Chilango & Venganza b Meteoro I & Meteoro II
2) El Tiger & Sileuta Dorada DQ Demencia, El Guerrillero, Pentgaon del Infierno
3) Negrotistico b Joey Marx
4) Isias Velazques & Steve Boz b Blade & Samuary
5) Charly Manson Jr. b Yakuza [GALLI CHAMP, IWC CHAMP]
6) Hijo de Rey Misterio, Rey Misterio Sr., Slayer b Amenaza del Siglo, Coco Liso, Gringo Loco

Hijo de Rey Misterio was OK. It’s tough to judge highflying skills due to the low ceiling, but he was perfectly fine in the ring. Didn’t shine, didn’t look bad. There was a long segment of Amanaza de Siglo laying on him and biting the mask, but the mask never got ripped and Hijo never bleed, so I’m not sure what was going on. Hijo got a ‘rana on Gringo for the pin while everyone else was in the Star.

After the match, they did quicky psuedo-mask match with Senior (wearing his mask) and Amenza de Siglo.

Golden Star (tecnico) and Gringo Loco (rudo) were cornerman for the title unification match. Match was going okay until Charly tried to do a springboard dive. Not sure if he was worried about hitting his head on the ceiling or just plain slipped, but his plancha was way off and he crashed and burned on the floor. Charly was holding his (I think) left elbow for most of the rest of the match, for how long it lasted. Rudo referee La Vaca held Charly for a Yakuza foul, and of course ended up taking it himself. Everyone, seconds including, fouled everyone else, Charly getting the last shot in, and covering just as tecnico referee Apenitas came into make the count.

Post match, there was an argument about which referee was legal, and who cheated whom, and matches were set up for an 04/05? show in Addison:

– Gringo Loco vs Charly Manson Jr. (c) for both titles, assuming Charly’s okay to go (early report had him out two weeks)
– Yakuza vs Golden Star, mask vs mask

There’s still no actual GALLI belt, so it’s good Charly got something to actually put around his waist.

Negrotistico is now 4-0 versus Joey Marx. Time for Joey to get a win or for them to get into the general mix.

No one’s quite sure why the second match was a handicap match. As best I can figure, Guerrillero wasn’t scheduled, was just here to work the rudos corner, but interfered freely. Rudos got the win, promoter overturned for Guerrillero’s interfernce, rudos went after the promoter.

Meteoro I might have not been Meteoro I

Accion

CMLL clips were off the main event. Rudos control on the brawl, then it’s all Hector dominating from there. We don’t see the finish, or any of Corelone. AAA’s clips were of the triangle tag match. I can’t believe Chessman tried to superplex Konnan thru a table. That’s never going to happen. I can believe we see Chessman go thru a table, then see him do an Asai Moonsault fine. Same thing happens with Charly – he takes a powerbomb thru chairs, then wins the match via inside cradle in the next clip.

SuperLuchas #255 has Amapola/Dark Angel and Hector/Perro.

IWRG (SUN) 03/09 Arena Naucalpan [Super Luchas #255]
1) Bacteria & Halcon 2000 b Ancla & Comando Gama
2) Chico Che & Venom b Judas el Traidor & Nemesis IWRG
3) Cerebro Negro, Fantasma de la Ópera, Galactik b Payaso Carrona, Payaso Miedo, Payaso Terror
4) Filoso IWRG, Freelance, Multifacético DQ Capitán Muerte, Cyborg, Xibalba
5) Black Dragon, El Fantasma, Groon XXX b Cien Caras Jr., Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

Tarzan missed the main event. Black Terry ran during the third fall of the semimain, annoying the rudos and possibly setting up a Multifacetico/Black Terry/Cyborg match. These Payasos here are the ones from AAA last year – same costumes, probably same guys under the masks. They’ve been working indy shows.

Box Y Luchas has articles about previously covered subjects:
Perros del Mal opening a store, and an office, in Arena Mexico

Arturo Rivera writes about vacations he has had.

CMLL (FRI) 03/14 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, ESTO, superluchas]
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Metálico b Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr. DQ Loco Max, Nitro, Skandalo
3) Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela
4) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Negro Casas DQ Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Villano V
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico b Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Tecnicos won the first fall of the main event when Mistico’s mask got pulled. He went to the back, got a new mask, and came back to start the comeback. Marco and Mistico got in dives, and Hector kicked Perro in taped ribs (?) and moonsaulted for the win.

Villano V yanked Blue Panther’s mask for a DQ in that match. This seems to be a feud. ESTO says Goddess improved, but “still is not convincing.” No one quite specifies what the DQ is in the segunda, but it was a straight falls match.

CMLL (TUE) 03/18 Arena Mexico
1) Súper Camaleón & Súper Tri vs Pólvora & Zayco
2) Mictlán, Neutrón, Tony Rivera vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Loco Max

4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Ephesto, Misterioso II
5) Alex Koslov, Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V

Trios champs teaming up. Odd competition though.

CMLL (FRI) 03/21 Arena Mexico
1) Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Grey Shadow, La Sombra, Sagrado vs Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca
4) Blue Panther, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. vs Mr. Águila, Terrible, Villano V
5) Atlantis, Místico, Último Guerrero vs Averno, LA Park, Mephisto [relevos incredible]
6) Héctor Garza vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo [hair]

I forgot that everything on the US feed of CAN52 is now an hour later due to Daylight Savings Time, until things sync up again. Hope that didn’t mess anyone up.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring #119 has
03/07 Mexico: Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. b Arkangel de la Muerte, Skandalo, Virus
03/09 Coliseo: Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero b LA Park, Negro Casas, Volador Jr.

AAA #822 (03/08)

taped 02/10, aired in the US 03/08

Abismo vs Niebla was sketchy in parts. Actually, the whole show was sketchy in parts because they had 4 hours of show cut down to 3 hours and didn’t do the cleanest of job editing things. But the singles match felt less like building to a big finish and more like typical AAA getting in the spots they wanted to do.

Zorro is much better as a rudo. It’s funny that he didn’t seem to have a personality till they put a mask on him, and now is a lot more entertaining playing the complete opposite of what he’s been for year. My newest hindsight booking for the last three months of 2007 is Kenzo should’ve been in Zorro’s role, in the title match, and Zorro should’ve been protected the whole time. He’s much funnier now, but there’s no way I believe he’s going to win when it matters.

Billy Boy is a dope. A DOPE.

It looks like GALLI’s co-promoting this with someone, but I can’t decipher their logo/acronym.

“Cicero Stadium” is definitely the setup to jokes I’m afraid to make. It’s located at 1909 S. Laramie Cicero, IL, 60804. Star ttime is listed at 7pm, tickets are $15 general, $25 for VIP.

Not sure which Ultraman that may be. Of all the women from CMLL, those two seem the most improbable. THIS is a show I’d go to Cicero for.

I’m going to Sunday’s show, and may make one of the Cicero’s show.
