03/10 Arena Puebla Results (¡new tag champs!)

CMLL (MON) 03/10 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano, Super Star, SWAT b Espiritu Maligno, Furia Chicana, Karisma
2) Batman, the Tiger, Tigre Rojo b Flecha, Negro Navarro, Policeman
3) Ohara, Shigeo Okumura, Virus b Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr.
4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, Grey Shadow, Negro Casas
5) Héctor Garza & Místico b Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

Mistico got Averno in the third fall. Referee Rodolfo Ruiz, suspiciously seemingly always scheduled to work his son’s big matches, got distracted checking on him and missed Mephisto fouling Mistico. While Ruiz was still looking the wrong way, Hector fouled Mephsito in revenge, and moonsaulted him to win the titles.

Averno & Mephisto were champions for only 40 days. This is Mistico’s 3rd title reign, and he’s now back to being a four belt champion. Hector Garza has never won the tag team titles before, and is actually a three belt champion (CMLL Trios, WWA Tag – both up in the air due to his turn.)

Now we know what the tag title match got pulled from the PPV. Also, Chui’s point about life getting worse once you join the Perros gets proved again.

  1. Averno/Mephisto V Ultimo Guerrero/Atlantis.

I’m not so keen on Mistico/Garza winning the belts, it’s a bit of a random pairing and i was kinda hoping Averno & Mephisto would get established themselves as the true tag team aces, taking on and beating all challengers over a lengthy reign. It’s pretty disappointing, especially after the supposed epic they went through to win them in the first place.

  2. …Then again, if this is just a transition reign in order to get the straps round the waists of Ultimo & Rey without having to do an all rudos match again, then it’s not so bad :)

  3. I think Garza and Aguayo will shake hands after the hair match and be friends again, so the tag title will be up for grabs again, better one title than 2 (well one, that TJ belt doesn’t count for CMLL).

  4. Didn’t that tag match happen here

    CMLL (FRI) 02/01 Arena Mexico

    4) Grey Shadow, LA Park, Místico b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Terrible *
    5) Averno & Mephisto b Atlantis & Último Guerrero [CMLL TAG] *

  5. Couple days late to the party but I dislike the title change. There was no reason for the new unestablished team to win the belts, especially so quickly from the team that deserves the belts. The only way they can save this is by stealing my created angle where Guerrero demands a title shot and is forced to choose between Bucanero and Atlantis leading to an Atlantis turn.
