Mistico says he’s leading a stable with Volador Jr, La Sombra, La Máscara, Astro Boy y Súper Nova… where’s Valiente?
Or Stuka Jr.? I don’t buy that stable anyhow. Like we’ll ever see a Mistico, Sombra, Astro Boy trio facing the Perros?
MINI’S MATCH AIRED! YAY!!!:D Now let’s pray:
a) it wasn’t edited down to 5 minutes
&
b) this stretch of segundas from Arena Mex airing continues into next weekend… ;)
re: Tuesday @ Arena Mex…
– Nice to see Polvora/Vaquero getting a TV show in the opener. Some of their double team moves look fun.
– Women.. bleh.
– Semi-main could be fun, especially if Purpura keeps taking Virus’ finisher on his head.
– Main will likely be by the numbers.
Mixed bag.
re: Friday @ Arena Mex…
– What’s going here? They did that match on 1/11. The bookers used to be really good about mixing the matches up but lately they’ve been recycling the same tags. How about a Sombra De Plata/Sensei vs Caligula/Messala opener instead?
– That segunda looks horrific. Please air a Coliseo match that week unless it’s the women…
– Well, at least we have Valiente…
– Building a Grey Shadow/Sangre Azteca match?
– Main is expected.
Disapointing card. Could use some changes mid-week. Perhaps turn Garza/Perrito into a singles match, add Mistico to the Sombra/Volador team and Aguila to the rudo team. Then move Felino up a match and insert Stuka Jr. to team with Maximo/Valiente. Much better card, no? Also eliminates the segunda from making television.
Does anyone find Sakura and Yidra showing up again out of nowhere to be weird?
Clearly we’re missing out on the real shows taking place in Puebla and Neza.
Guess neither Stuka nor Valiente are in the age CMLL wants for a team led by Mistico.
I’m still holding out hope all these Trios Titles matches at the smaller shows are just test runs and they’re gonna run it at Arena Mexico on the March big show.
Anyone watching Cadena Tres? I’m pumped for the mini’s!
Regular CMLL doesn’t start for an hour incase anyone is wondering. I’ll be checking in to see if they magically air the mini’s match to start things off.
I’m watching
This stream is moving slower than normal.
WHOA. Great first fall from the mini’s! What a dive by Dragoncito!
The feed just seemed to wake up in time for BAM BAM BEING INSANE!
Bam is crazy with that dive
That match was all about the dives and holy shit were they great. That slingshot legdrop to the floor finish was siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick.
Let’s see if Stuka and Purpura can continue the hot streak.
I might have to record the rest of this show when the other show comes on.
I’m with you, hoping this match is just as good.
I recorded the mini’s and will upload it later for anyone who wants it.
Yeah I would like it Rob since I missed the first 2 falls of the mini’s match.
So if Purpura sounds like a 12 year old, Flash has to be 8 or 9 at the most.:)
Aw man… I was liking that match until the sudden finish.
Since cmll.com didn’t report the result – rudos got DQ’ed in the second fall.
Well TECHNICALLY the Rayos Tapatios just made TV for a good 3 minutes or so if you count watching them get beat up by Los Guerrilleros during the CMLL TV open.
That should have been a title match just to put over the champs strong and give them a squash match.
Sickest fucking finish ever. How can you not mark out for that spot?
Wagner has to be second to Koslov in the race for most annoying wrestler on the CMLL roster.
STOP FUCKING POSING.
Well at least Bucanero is back to his awesome self already. It’s like night and day compared to him as a tecnico a month ago.
How is a huracanarana a ‘castigo’?
Duuuuuuuuuuuuude – Dragoncito’s dive from last week into the third row was AWESOME! DIE FANS, DIE!!!
That was a decent match though(Wagner match).
I still need to finish watching the Cads show. Can’t wait until this show is over.
Did anyone catch the Guerreros segment where Atlantis and Ultimo left Rey Bucanero at the coffee shop with the bill?
YEP! I missed those Guerreros skits where Bucanero always wanted to eat and they’d never let him. Now they let him and he gets stuck with the bill!
Remind me again why they wasted a year and a half with Bucanero as a tecnico?
I’m not home to post this on DVDVR (though someone can if they’d like)

YAY CUBS! Leafs win and the match is up, couldn’t have asked for better service!
I like the fact we may see back to back mini’s matches over two weeks with 12 completely different wrestlers. It’ll be interesting to compare/contrast/mark out over Tzuki.
The CadenaTres main was pretty good. Bucanero is awesome and Jindrak’s vertical leaps are insane. The finish to the Sombra match was a thing of beauty. I agree with Rob there.
Awesome match!
All 6 of them were great – even Mini Warrior looks to be settling in now and is perfectly ok. Outwith the actual wrestling, he’s actually a really good Black Warrior clone, from the look down to his movement and mannerisms. And that new big spot of his is a real winner – shades of Nicho. He’d better watch what he’s doing though, it looks pretty risky as he’s effectively breaking his fall with one foot – it would be easy to go over on the ankle and suffer a sore one. It’s abut the only way you can hit that move though – try taking a bump like that right on your tailbone and you won’t be around for long (unless you’re the original Psicosis)
The minis are by far and away the best thing CMLL has going for it right now, because the midcard has gone stale as hell. Not that there’s a lack of talent or anything, but the recent booking has been horrible – and it’s all down to weak tecnicos and their undeserved pushes/bookings over far better talent. I’ve lost count of the number of matches in recent months with a stacked rudo side, only to look over to see a tecnico side full of shit/lazyness/bad comedy that the rudos just can’t do much with (Maximo, Mascara, Metal, Koslov, Fabian, Leono, Dragon, Mictlan etc).
Anyways, back on track, that match is pretty high on my list of minis matches in the last 3 months. I especially like to see UDcito, Pequeno Olimpico and Pequeno Boriquas on tv, because these are exactly the guys we have missed out on for 5-10 years, so it’s good that they’re finally getting a bit of exposure (similar to why i especially liked/wanted to see Neutron, Sombra De Plata, Tigre Blanco, Jeque, Flecha etc from the novatos).
But as good as it is to finally see them, they’re all so good that it’s such a shame 99% of their work was never seen by those outside the arenas and there is nothing on record to look back on. One thing’s for sure, they certainly weren’t off tv because they lacked talent.
Can’t really say much mini for mini that i haven’t said already elsewhere, but i love los Pequeno Boriquas. Their style is a bit less flashy and they’re more traditional than the Puppies of Evil, but they’re really good rudo asskickers, and are a great base for the tecnicos. And from the Cadena Tres match, I don’t have a clue what they were saying but they also sound really good and charismatic on promos, particular Pequeno Violencia. With this improved minis coverage we need to see much more Tzuki/Pierrotito though, as from watching momentos over the years, these two work great together.
I’ve always considered Dragoncito a massive talent and even after all these years, he’s proving he can still go as much, if not more than when i first saw him and was impressed in the 90s. I’d maybe even go as far to say that he’s the most well rounded mini in CMLL.
Mini Olimpico however, i had totally underrated him from the few occasions i had saw him previously. I had always thought of him as a solid but pretty unspectacular tecnico, who never really done anything wrong, but never done much to make you say wow either. Sorta like a mini Tony Rivera. But i was wrong – in the half dozen or so appearances over the last few months he’s shown he’s just as great as the rest of them – and his dive showed he can also bring the insanity!~
I marked like a bitch when he hit that somersault, i think because it was just so unexpected, and it’s always such a spectacular dive – just like when Sagrado busted it out on the torneo cibernetico before the big July cage match a few years back.
Bam Bam too was great in this (as usual). He’s so quick and explosive, and is really photogenic to watch. Because he’s so fast, he gives the impression that he’s out of control, but he rarely is. Kinda reminds me of the Dragon Gate guy (Yoshino i think he’s called?) when he’s running the ropes.
But i agree they would be better moving him up to full size as he has too much potential to be the 3rd or 4th top tecnico in a minis division where fans will tend to cheer on the smaller, underdog tecnicos more. There is a big gap in real undercard tecnico quality nowadays since Valiente and Volador moved up, Virus turned rudo, Tigre Blanco looks to be finished, and Neutron is rarely booked – Stuka Jr is basically carrying the CMLL lower midcard tecnico side just now. And although Bam Bam will be a bit small, he’s probably no smaller than Virus who had no problems or ‘credibility’ issues when he moved up. Anyone actually have Bam Bam’s height? I’d guess he is at least 5’4″ which would be no problem.
So yeah, really enjoyed the match. Thanks a lot for putting it up Cubs (and doing it so quickly!). Way better than the CadenaTres one (which was still loads of fun), and long may the minis coverage continue. With none booked for this week, i make it only Bracito de Oro and Sombrita who haven’t been on TV since minis matches have started airing more frequently since last autumn. Although it’s likely they are not as good as the regulars (in Bracito’s case, i know so), i still want them to get a match! So if by some one in a million chance, a CMLL booker is browsing in, give us Tzuki, Bracito De Oro, Fantasy V Pierrotito, Fire, Sombrita for our next CadenaTres minis match :D
Had some internet problems yesterday, so couldn’t browse the net once I was connected, but still managed to see Cadena tres and it wasn’t too bad a show. Quick thoughts;
– Fun opener, but not as good as the Arena Mex match above
– Tercera was going along ok, but the anti climax was a disappointment. It was on its way to being a decent 3 fall match if it had a 4 minute final fall, but as it was, it was way too short to be good for 2 falls.
– Semi was pretty good, I enjoyed it. The Volador/Virus sequences were great, and it disappoints me that we don’t get much in the way of real good 1v1’s featuring these two, Valiente, Sangre Azteca, Misterioso etc. Gotta love the finisher. I’m waiting on some trio to try that spot with the two moonsault planchas, but with the 3rd guy hitting an over the cornerpost somersault dive Aguila-stylay a split second after the double moonsault! I’m sad, I know :D
– And the main was so-so. About what you’d expect.
Next weeks card are a mixed bag too. Arena Mex is two or three changes away from being a great looking show – those changes unsurprisingly being in the segunda and tercera tecnico side – see above comments!
Tuesday ain’t great but I’m hyped to see Polvora/Vaquero, and Super Comando is a nice bonus too. Just a shame it’s such a weak tecnico trio they’re up against, as something like Neutron and Sombra De Plata in place of Astro boy and Rivera would have had me excited for the match like a little kid :). And if Koslov is out, the semi could be really promising depending upon the replacement. Obviously we’d be hoping for someone like Volador or Stuka.
Ps – nice thread title on DVDVR – minis handicap match!~ :D
Now out of curiosity, what do you call a group led by Mistico?
