AAA 01/05/08

AAA 01/05/08, taped 11/19/07

I’m trying to think of an overreaching theme to explain my problems with this AAA episode, but it’s different things for different matches. The Guapos/Stones feud feels two weeks too long, with nothing much new in months. (I guess the Guapos getting forked was the big deal here, but it didn’t feel like it.) The Konnan/Mesias split is far too fast, and feels forced and false. The Mex tag had zero build. The AAA tag is just right, but could use more explanation. Compared to normal, this is normal or better, so I guess it depends on your standards.

Adding match graphics to hype upcoming matches would help. I doubt people watching the show know exactly the GdT lineup. They do know the main event, and that’s most of the battle, but there’s enough time on this show that they can run down the lineup without giving away the matches in clips.

  1. You hit the nail on the haid with how they’ll give away what happens in upcoming events but they can’t announce the card.

  2. They seem to be wasting too much time showing replays. One day, I’ll count the minutes spent showing replays from a previous match. They’ll replay a simple plancha by Oriental three times.

They are not maximizing NotiAAA to it’s fullest. They have enough time to give us two NotiAAA’s per episode. Heck, when I was a kid we got two “WWF Events Center” segs during a one-hour show. It worked.

One Noti can concentrate on explaining angles, while the second Noti devotes ample time to upcoming house shows and tapings.

Ring intros are taking too long. But sometimes it’s worth it. Like when Arturo Rivera gives a “me-ow” to Fabi Apache.
