AAA Mini Line - 09/29/07 (#644)
Recapped: 10/09/07
In the opening video, they say Chessman won the UWA LH Title from Zorro last week, even though we clearly did not see the belt. Huh. Six sided ring this week.
Vignette: Alfa and Gran Apache are checking out the merchandise stand - Gran Apache marks out for them having an Alfa mask and encourages him to make a move on his daughter. Gran Apache is WEIRD. No mention of the stuff with Ayako Hamada here, which is the way I prefer it at this point.
Match 1: Alfa, Gran Apache (c), Toxico AAA vs Aero Star, Pegasso, Rey Cometa (c)
Plaza de Toros Moroleon, 08/31/07
Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 15:28
Notes: The hazmat suit isn't doing you much good if you leave the hood
down, Toxico. Air Force get separate entrances despite all sharing the same
music. Pepe Casas is ref. There's an announcer - Diego? - this week, and he's
got a sharp voice. It's going to take some getting used to. Relatively basic
tecnico control for the first seven minutes, culminating in a Rey Cometa top
rope tornillo. Apache's crew takes over soon after. Break around the ten minute
mark. Comeback soon after they return, when rudos go for a triple/pose
submission. Ring quickly clears to Cometa/Alfa for a chest slap fest. Alfa ends
up sliding out to avoid a dive, and Apache pulls out Cometa before he can dive.
Aero and Toxico in, for a brief second till Aero backdrops Toxico out. With some
inadvertent help from Apache, Aero Star hits his springboard reverse tope.
He's now folding in his leg, so it's like a blind cannonball splash. It looks
awesome, but it's going to be traffic when someone doesn't catch him one of these
days. Pegasso gets his Asai Moonsault on Alfa, and we're back to Alfa and Cometa
again. Cometa gets a near fall, then sets up Alfa for a top rope move, but
Toxico grabs him by the leg before he can climb up. Alfa climbs up to join Rey
Cometa and pulls off a superplex despite Pegasso pulling the top rope down
(while trying to knock Toxico off the apron.) Aero Star broke up that pin, and
he took over versus Apache. Aero sets up Apache with a suplex and lands his
shooting star press, but Alfa pulls him off and crotches him on the post in one
motion. Apache gives Pegasso the double underhook faceslam and climbs the ropes,
but Pegasso pops to his feet and jumps the rope showing no sign of wear. Top rope
armdrag, but Alfa breaks up that pin. Rudo miscommunication, and
Pegasso hitting his dive on Toxico. Captains left in, Rey Cometa hits a
springboard reverse elbow drop and a quebrada, but it's broken up again. Alfa
gets Rey Cometa with a inverted Gory driver and that's finally it.
After the match, Gran Apache again tells Alfa that he would make a fine father for his grand son. Meanwhile, Rey Cometa is getting stretchered out, and the rudos try to attack him once they realize what's going on.
Interview: The Stones! There are three of them! Arturo tries to see if he has what it takes to be a Bello Stone - I think Alan encourages him to work on it.
Interview: Scorpio Jr. and Guapito have a new Guapo, and here's a view of the big of his head. EXCITING.
Match 2: Decnis, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido vs Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Super Calo
Plaza de Toros Moroleon, 08/31/07
Winner: Guapos
Match Time: 12:01
Notes: Hey, you know what the best way is to get over a new group? If
you said "separate entrances", you're booking this show. STOP IT. They
could all just come out to Alan Stone's music and he could dance that'd be fine.
We did get to find out Chris Stone has entrance music. Super Calo must be fired
up, he tried to do the splits. For some reason, they're using a generic version
of Alan's music, though Arturo still knows all the words. I thought he was just
singing-a-long before. This doesn't sound like the music was dubbed out like on
Guerrero del Ring, they just played a knock off version of it. Same thing with
Zumbido, and it really loses something. Did Mexico's version of the RIAA find
out lucha libre exists and is on TV? I probably should've paid more attention to
Gran Apache's entrance. I'm writing way too much about the entrances. Scorpio
Jr. has his lyrics, and he and Alan discuss before we get the reveal. No
reaction to Decnis being announced, but really what did you expect. He comes
out with Guapito and does get a reaction from the girls. He looks at least
20% more sleazy; this is an improvement, I'll be able to tell him apart now.
Brawl, with the Guapos coming out ahead to start. Pepe Casas is your ref - oh, wait, Piero is there too, long time no see.. Scorpio Jr. has a fork, and Alan has blood dripping down his face. Scorpio hands it off to Piero to escape detection from Pepe Casas, so it look like we're up to our old tricks again. I guess that's why this match randomly has tow referees - they had a bit that needed two refs. For a second, I think Decnis hasn't been around so long, he mistakenly went for a pin on a beatdown (that's just crazy), but he was actually just holding Calo down for a Guapito splash. Alan ducks a chop to turn it around. The blond stones take care of the lesser Guapos while Alan pounds Scorpio Jr. And then there's a random shot of the ceiling! Yea, that was great. They get lost on Alan setting up for an elbow drop as well. Match pauses with the Guapos walking all the way up the aisle to regroup about 7 minutes in. Guapito helpfully fixes everyone's hair. Fine spot for a break.
The bleeding and cutting to Alan's forehead isn't so sever that he can't wrestle the rest of the match as normal. Chris and Calo hit big topes on Decnis and Zumbido, and we're back down to the two leaders. Alan pounds Scorpio, but looses him on a backbreaker (so maybe the blood did hurt!) They try to cover, and then move onto spots with Guapito. Guapito gets kicked down, Scorpio punts Alan, Piero counts, Pepe breaks it up and gives Alan the match.
Interview: Alebrije and Angel try to explain their team. And that's just half of it!
Match 3: Cuervo, Escoria, Espiritu, Ozz (c) vs Alebrije (c), Angel, Extreme Tiger, Tinieblas Jr.
Plaza de Toros Moroleon, 08/31/07
Winner: Sect
Match Time: 16:14
Other Match Notes: So this beats last week's randomness tecnico team
ever. I bet Extreme Tiger is very sad not to be in Japan. I bet Tinieblas Jr. is
very happy to be on TV. It balances. They seem to have changed to Xtreme Tiger -
is his music a remix or a cover? They can still use the Star Wars music for
Tinieblas Jr. Cuije is in his his Yoda outfit for team unity purposes, surely.
Atomicos belts have gone missing, which makes me think the champions were
planned to lose an atomico and they didn't want to dwell on the title
ramifications.
Sect beatdown. Tecnicos make a comeback when Cuije puts a groin claw on Ozz,
which is not a DQ. Cuije later dropkicks him low and Hijo de Tirantes awards a
not DQ. This is the match with Angel's tope straight into a railing. He flew
right over Espiritu, who was moving up on the dive, and Angel speared the
railing with his head. It looked gruesome, and Hijo de Tirantes rushed out of
the ring to check on Angel - though turning him over on his back probably wasn't
the way to go. Match halts as Angel gets checked on and we see replays. Angel
tucked his head in attempt to make contact with Espiritu, and so his
shoulders/upper back ended up getting most of the impact, which saved serious
injury. Angel is carried out, though we never actually see any of it. Since it's
just the tecnicos turns for solo offense, they don't miss him for quite a while.
Alebrije picks up the slack for him on the end bit, it seems. Sect knocks down
Tinieblas, gives him four kicks at once, and covers him for the pin, but he's
not the captain. They go to work on Alebrije, but Cibernetico runs
limps out to attack. His left leg is really bugging him and he can't hide it.
Cibernetico runs off the Sect, but Mesias and Kenzo are out to
turn the tide, choking him out with a chain. They're playing everyone's music as
they run out to get the WWE feel, so I know La Parka Jr. is next before
we see him. Rudos clear the ring before La Parka Jr. (and his chair) makes it
in, except for Espiritu. Chair shot for him. Parka keeps his left arm tight to
his body on the way to the ring, then seems to use it fine once he's in there -
not sure if he's protecting it or just not trusting it yet. We did get a finish
in here - DQ on the first run-in - but it was tough to notice in the midst of
the run-ins. Cibernetico makes the hair challenge versus the Sect after the
match.
Noti AAA:
- Karloff Lagarde remembered
- AAA in Japan
- Tournament recap. We are told Mesias, Chessman, Charly Manson are the only
ones left, and the winner will have all the belts.
- Domo Cage hype
- Fabi Apache shops for toys in Japan, gets surprised by Jesus Z. Ah, I hadn't
thought about the announcers being in Japan, that's why the crew is only Arturo
and Random Dude. Jesus Z is doing Gran Apache's work, but Fabi still thinks
they're loco.
Interview: Mesias and his belts. Arturo is far more fired up for this interview, though Mesias does get more excited when he starts to talk. It's a new era of Triple A, don'tcha know. Arturo walks out in this interview. HIT THE CATCHPHRASE.
Interview: weird floating camera interview with Cibernetico. He wants just two minutes with Mesias, because that's all it would take.
Match 4: El Mesias, Kenzo Suzuki vs Cibernetico, La Parka Jr.
Plaza de Toros Moroleon, 08/31/07
Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 18:43
Other Match Notes: Cibernetico is walking better here, but he's still
walking down stairs sideways to protect his leg, like he did when he first came
back. Rudos jump the tecnicos for the fourth straight match. Hijo de Tirantes is
the ref. Plenty of sneak low blows by the rudos and notDQing by Hijo de
Tirantes. Lots of choking, lots of chair stuff. All is a-okay. Mesias goes for a
pin at one point, and the camera cuts away from it. Perhaps the director figured
Mesias was going to pull him up and it was a good time for something else, but
that seems more thinking than usual. Cibernetico ducks a Mesias chair shot,
Kenzo gets it and sells dead and the tecnicos get their revenge for a while. I'm
not paying attention till the run-ins start. I can't believe they gave this match
twenty minutes. That's unfair to these guys. Mesias gets LA Park with the
knuckles again, and Kenzo tries to kill him with either a piledriver or a shoulderbreaker
- it's tough to tell. Cibernetico breaks that up, and Mesias fakes
a foul. Of course, Hijo de Tirantes decides to award the DQ on this one. I'm so
glad I sped thru this, or I would be done with AAA
forever.
One more segment of yapping to finish out three hours.
