CMLL GdR on FSE - 06/03/07 (#43)
Recapped: 06/10/07
Intro: Promos by Valiente (!) and Ohara (Spanish) and Goto (Japanese) with their belts. The minis opener takes place behind this - we get an Asai Moonsault by Fantasy.
Feature: Misterioso II at home.
Match 1: Skandalo, Texano Jr. (c), Virus vs Máximo
(c), Mictlán, Tiger Kid
Arena Coliseo, 05/27/07
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 7:36
Approx Rating: Not bad, but not anything noteworthy.
Other Match Notes: We join with the rudos beating down the tecnicos
during the introductions, but step back for promos by the captains. Maximo's in
a sad mood about Texano.
1: Ordinary beatdown, though the rudos keep it moving at all times. Skandalo will not be competing for the CMLL bodybuilding title. Texano is a lot bigger than Mictlan. I don't know why that surprises me. Crowd chants for Maximo, it doesn't help. When I saw the finish originally, I think Skandalo killed Tiger Kid on the finish, but it's pretty safe when I pay more attention. Tiger Kid sells it like death, which is the way to go. Amapola joins the announcers at the end of the fall and sticks around for the rest of the match.
2: Beatdown continues. The doctor checks on Maximo on the outside - is it the same ankle as before? He seems to be in some pain. Rudos briefly go after Mictlan's mask, and then move onto beating up Tiger Kid. in to take his turn, but is limping. Maximo wants a one one one with Texano, so the other two jump him. What did he expect? Maximo doesn't take all that much before being dropkicked out. Mictlan backdrops a corner charge right after to start the comeback. Maximo and Texano are left alone in the ring, and I think we miss the kiss spot, but not a followup top to the outside. Skandalo gets set up on the rope for a Tiger Kid armdrags, and of course he finishes with a casita. Tiger Kid runs to the corner to pose, and then remembers he ought to help Mictlan win the fall. He rushes back to help cover for a split second, and then goes back to posing. Meanwhile, Maximo has to use the ring apron to pull himself up, and needs help to get back in the ring. He's limping as he walks, but I guess he's at least walking.
3: Takes a bit for the fall to get actually started. A lot of Texano walking around the ring, while Maximo yells at him from inside of him. Finally, Virus attacks Maximo from behind, and they start chopping. Maximo fells him with a knockout punch. Texano relents and comes in, though he's not happy to face his former partner. Maximo starts crying after a hard chest slap. Texano does not do the same. Jumping back elbow knocks Texano out, double boot form the other two knocks Maximo down. It's all the other four there, with lots of tecnico dropkicks and stereo tope con giros to wipe everyone out. Capitan's left in, Maximo gingerly connects on the double jump butt bump, and Texano cranks him with a low blow uppercut. Everyone saw it, so that's it. Texano adds a low blow headbutt for good measure. Looks like the rudos bead up the tecnicos on the outside as well.
Maximo does a post-match interview that I accidentally skip the first time. He wants a hair match, imagine that.
Match 2: Black Warrior (c), Hirooki Goto, Hajime Ohara vs
Heavy Metal (c), Leono, Valiente
Arena Coliseo, 05/27/07
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:27
Approx Rating: Metal was really not good, and there's been better Valiente
stuff. There's been better Leono stuff, come to think of it. Goto and Ohara seem
to be coming along, at least.
Other Match Notes: I think Metal has new music, but he's have to show up
more often to know for sure. Leono and his wacky eye contacts do the pre-match
promo in a very stilted fashion. His blue headband conflicts with the blue
screen behind him, I think. Mima Shimoda enters with Goto and wants to
fight Valiente. Ohara has his sword. Black Warrior has really become a great
dresser; he does the pre-match promo too in a completely different outfit.
1: Mima leaves as the match starts. The match starts with a rudo sneak attack, of course. I just realized that this is PANTS vs SKIRTS. A fine matchup indeed. Ohara gives Leono a Hundred Hand Slap, which is also great. Valiente keeps firing back up until they finally kick him down. Heavy Metal bails on taking a Warrior kick (stopping short on the run). Warrior turns to see Valiente laying on the mat three inches from him, and figures it's a free pinfall. He's being boot choked by Goto and Ohara, but they relent enough to get the easy elimination. Warrior gives Leono a very double underhook backbreaker, and that's it.
2: Rudo beatdown continues - well, sorta, everyone's just standing around to start this fall. Warrior has taken off his skirt, that means certain doom. Metal gets in the Heavy Punch on Goto, but he's immediately dropped by Warrior and battered by kicks form the other two. Valiente in and yanked around. Leono storms the ring early, and gets stopped by a back rake of all things. Then they kick and punch him in the head lot. It's so weird to see Black Warrior working with Valiente. Not that Valiente can't be good, but he's like two tiers below Warrior at the moment. Metal side steps a Warrior corner charge, and we're off. Well, not as much off - Valiente beats Goto with a half crab in roughly 2 seconds. Metal takes out Warrior with a pescado, and Leono gets his wacky submission to end it. Metal has Warrior in a figure four on the floor for absolutely no reason I can determine.
3: Now Metal has Black Warrior in the figure four on the ring apron for no reason. I dunno. Valiente and Leono get into random brawls on the floor. Metal poses on the apron. We kinda could use someone to pull this together, and no one's stepping forward. I think Metal is hanging out in the wrong corner - yea, he totally is. Leono follows him, but there refs sort it out. Meanwhile, Valiente has a sequence with Ohara, and that's a match I'd like to see more than Ohara vs Mascara again. No dive, though. Leono and Goto. Goto's very into the double chops to the side. Superkick count: 1! Warrior/Metal. Lot of staring to start off. Metal's offense looks bad, though I'm not sure it's all him. Warrior ends up rolling out, and Metal follows with a slingshot tope con giro. Leono and Ohara, with Leono getting a headscissors to send Ohara out for a Valiente Asai Moonsault. Goto get in a wheel kick on Leono, but Leono ends up backdropped him out (Goto taking a bump on the apron in the process) and following him with a silla. Warrior and Metal back in. Warrior with a whip, drops to all fours (?), Metal grabs the ropes, time stops while Warrior looks at Metal, Metal walks over for a casita, Warrior slips out and gets one his his own one two three. I think Metal kicked out or two to kick out twice there (we got the worst angle to see his shoulders, which may have been for the best) and jumped back up to his feet faster than Warrior did.
Warrior celebrates with laughter, though Metal wants to fight him some more - Goto and Ohara have to cut him off. Warrior gets the microphone, and eventually they think to turn it on. Warrior crows about pinning Metal right in the center of the ring with his own family's move. Warrior would beat Metal for his hair, but why settle for the kid's when he wants Negro Casas. The crowd ends up cheering for Warrior. Leono and Valiente try to console Metal, but he shoves them away and the pounds the ring in a tantrum. Warrior does the post match interview, until Metal storms over to try and start another fight. Warrior struts away as Metal throws another fit. Huh.
That's it. This show ended about three minutes this week.
