AAA Mini Line - 05/19/07 (#625)
Recapped: 05/25/07
Show Name: El Gran Battle
This show got cut down to 1:30 due to futbol airing in Mexico. It's also an outdoor show where it rained bad, so everything looks soaked. It looks like it might still be raining when we start, or it's been raining so much and so often, people aren't bothering to take off their rain gear anymore. I believe it affected at least one of the openers, so maybe we're not missing too much with the half show.
Match 1: Cuervo, Ozz (c), Scoria vs Alan, Billy Boy (c), Decnnis
Estadio Colon, Xalapa, 04/20/07
Winner: Sect
Match Time: 9:55
Notes: Everyone's in the ring as we join. There's no skit to set up why
Billy is back with his team, but they very visibly don't want him there. Yet,
he's the captain. Oh, it's because he's going to get pinned on purpose to lose
it for his team, right? Seems as though this match is clipped ahead or the
first spot in the match is cross body blocks with both guys down for a three
count. Barrios are back to being tecnicos despite being rudos for attacking
Billy last week. I dunno. Clip again - it's kinda obvious when two totally different
people are in there. Ozz has Alan down, but wants to taunt Billy
instead. Billy actually comes in! Billy gets a full nelson! And then his partners
dropkick him instead of Ozz by mistake. Beatdown starts, because even
though this isn't a normal set up for the match, we must go according to the
system. Flying sit spot is broken up in a very fake looking serious of counter
spots. As past of the comeback, Billy holds Ozz for kicks, and it actually works right. Alan and
Decnnis take over holding Ozz, and tell Billy to go dropkick. I'll say
something, people really are going to op once Billy starts hitting people again,
though I'm not still not show this makes him a good guy. Anyway, of course Billy
won't fight, and of course his partners get made at him. Hijo de Tirantes tries
the pep speech, but no go. Things just send up back on one on ones. Crowd
doesn't seem every loud, I imagine they're just worn down. Barrios get their
showcases - and there's a clip in here to Billy doing a Northern lights suplex
on Ozz, and an bodyscissors cradle. Could've used a surprise to explain why he
was fighting, but that's not how this one is going to go. The non captains
fight, with the Barrios getting the better of it, naturally, leading to double
planchas to the outside. This brings Ozz and Billy in. Billy avoids a dropkick,
ducks a clothesline, and then just lays down. Why did he duck the moves? Well, I
guess if he just doesn't want to be hurt. Ozz covers - one two AND HE PULLS HIM
UP! What are we doing here?!?! Ozz tries a kick, Billy blocks it and kicks him.
And then sets himself up for an Ozz powerbomb. Oh, check that, an Ozz Mexican
Destroyer. This time, that's enough for Ozz.
Hey, look the Barrio Boys are turning on Billy again. What a shocking turn of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Anyone going to make the save? Anyone? Don't look at me? The Sect comes back - to join in on the stompdown! Hahaha! It's fun for the whole family. Awww, Joe Lider, and Crazy Boy are out for the save. Sect leaves the Barrio Boys hanging for the Mexican Powers ludicrous moves, which are even worse than usual. Lider sets a ladder on top of Decnnis, goes up top, slips on the wet ropes, and falls face first on a rung of the ladder. He's so lucky he's not really hurt - he grabs his face, and is also limping, but he's gotta get his stuff in. There's bad luck, and there's knowledge to know your conditions and adjust. They set up the ladder sitting on two chairs for spots on both Barrio Boys. One they're done, the Sect comes in, and when they should be about to brawl, we go to break.
And we're back, and it's a standoff instead. Everyone just kinda standing around and looking at each other, despite the Sect having the clear numbers advantage. Joe Lider shows off his ability to scream into a microphone. Thankfully, Kenzo and Mesias finally run them off. Mexican Powers help Billy Boy away - that's a bad idea, but an idea nonetheless.
Noti AAA
- La Parka, El Brazo, and Chucky visited kids in the children's hospital.
- Next week, a four way extreme match - let's show all the highspots now
- Abismo Negro teased a match with Latin Lover on a talk show. Whatever happened
to this angle? Note that I want to see Latin beat Abismo for his mask. And then
Abismo beat up a clown! Also, Latin Lover. Latin fought back and the female host
had to break them.
- Look at all these WWF logoed photos of Alicia Webb AAA's probably not supposed
to be using. Good thing no one watches this show. There's plenty of fine
non-logged pictures here too, so I guess they just wanted the WWF logo.
Interviews: Hell Brothers aren't sure which way Zorro's going here, but it's important thing which every way. Cibernetico's very into pointing with his folded up sunglasses. Hey, let's flash back to Cibernetico getting punked out. Cibernetico still wants revenge on those who turned on him, unlike Chessman and Charly here.
Match 2: Charly Manson, Chessman vs Kenzo Suzuki, Mesias
Estadio Colon de Xalapa, 04/20/07
Winner: Tecnicos by DQ
Match Time: 9:00
Notes: Mesias is introduced as Mesias Ricky Banderas. Break in the
middle of introductions - that's because the Legion jumps the tecnicos right in
the middle of it. Konnan's out here with his team, and without a wheel chair
now.. Kenzo is wearing a do-rag over his head, and it looks exactly what you'd
hope Kenzo wearing a do-rag to look. All brawling, all the time. Piero's the
ref, for what it's worth. Kenzo's been working his jabs. Chessman and Mesias
head outside, leaving the ring for Charly and Mesias to do spots, and Chessman
gets thrown in the crowd by Kenzo. There's a clip in here, because five seconds
later, Chessman is laying in the ring. Chessman must be awesome to pull that
off. I don't understand why there's a clipping here - we're getting half the
time, but half the matches. Shouldn't need to cut more than usual. Maybe tons of
blown spots? We're well into a rudo beatdown, with the rudos actually going for finishes,
but the tecnicos fighting them up or having the odd man break it up. Kenzo
keeps trying to get a sharpshooter on Charly, but Charly just wont' turn over
for it. Mesias get a superplex on Chessman, covers - and pulls him up at two.
What's the point? Whips are reversed when the rudos put their heads don too
soon, and the tecnicos get their comeback. They're putting on leg submissions,
but they're not going to get the tap out - the Vipers are running
out. Well, Mr. Niebla is carefully walking out to avoid slipping on the
set, but everyone else is running out. Abismo watches from the stage, backed by the
Sect. Wait, Piero is actually calling a DQ for people running in? That's
unusual in how it actually makes sense.
Beatdown goes on - thru a commercial break, and to everyone posing together on the stage. The Vipers are allied with the Sect and the Legion now.
Match 3: Elegido, Octagon, Tinieblas Jr., Zorro (c)
vs Abismo Negro (c), Antifaz, Histeria, Mr. Niebla
Estadio Colon, Xalapa, 04/20/07
Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 13:47
Other Match Notes: You know, if anyone actually watched this show, I
think they might be a in a bit of trouble for never hitting the bleep button on
Antifaz's Snoop Dogg music. Why do the Vipers need separate entrances, and why
do we need to see them on a clipped show anyway? La Parka Jr. is out first for
his side, and dances with a cane and a sling. He's rushed by many kids - Parka
goes with and tries to dance with them, and so even more come. Parka Jr. decides
to get moving while he can. Abismo is nice enough to part the ropes so he can
get in. The Vipers all threaten to attack his shoulder, so Parka threatens to
hit him with his cane. Abismo defuses the situation, actually. Parka intros
Tinieblas Jr. as his replacement. Zorro is wearing a UWA LH title, but it says
Heavyweight on it - that's the one Wagner has. Huh. Octagon walks around with a
poster of himself being noted as 25 years in wrestling. In case you forgot and
yet cared.
Vipers punk out the tecnicos after a break, with Abismo dumping Zorro in the first row and putting chairs on him. Not hitting him with chairs exactly, just mostly dropping them on him. Ah, now he's going to beat him with the chair. Beatdown goes on. I get distracted by my computer monitor and don't feel the draw to rewind. Nothing matters before the comeback, and the Vipers don't do interesting enough comeback to care every week. There's a heavy mist floating in the air, I don't know if it's about to rain or just rained again or what, but it looks like the fog rolled in. The lights make the right look fine, but just outside of it, it's cloudy. Zorro ducks a double chair shot 5 minutes in, and there's the comeback. People seem not to be in position on the endgame - there seems to be a false start, and then everything gets going. Abismo and Zorro are left in the ring. We see Mesias waiting for his cue to run out, odd. Hey, look, he's running in, just as Zorro is about to go for a back suplex. Mesias runs in, breaks the move up, clearly in front of Hijo de Tirantes. Does Tirantes call for the DQ? No. Chessman runs in and breaks up the Martinete Driver with a kick. DQ? No. They can't even keep the logic together in back to back matches. Back suplex into a front slam - wait, Zorro has a non-cane finisher? One two three. Oh, I guess he does! Learn something new every day.
Zorro now gets the cane to clear the Vipers away from post match shenanigans. Tinieblas has a problem with Zorro for some reason, but that goes no where. Konnan and the Sect wander out to the entrance, and it sounds like Mesias is ranting to the announcers - is this going anywhere this week? Chessman celebrates with the tecnicos. Octagon, who's been limping around selling for the last couple minutes, breaks out into dance. That's great. Replays, and we're done.
