CMLL FSE GDR - 05/06/07 (#39)
Recapped: 05/07/07
Intro: which includes the teams talking about the trios title match. Notable, Texano WALKS OUT on his team's interview. Sagrado's shock and amazement is great.
Reoccurring Feature: Olimpico, which I've already recapped. I'm also blowing off the bumpers. It's just that kind of day.
Match 1: Universo 2000 (c), Mascara Ano 2000, Sangre Azteca
vs Mascara Sagrada, Dos Caras Jr. (c), Averno
Arena Mexico, 04/29/07
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:31
Approx Rating: Fun enough, though tecnico Averno added a lot.
Other Match Notes: Yes, Averno as a tecnico. Heavy Metal no showed, as
tends to happen, and I guess they had no tecnico stand by, because here's
Averno. No entrances, and we join as Mascara Sagrada and Dos Caras Jr. are
questioning Averno about his intentions, and Averno's assuring them he doesn't
like this any better than they do, but them's the breaks. Meanwhile, Mascara Ano
is doing a promo on Mascara Sagrada, Mascara Sagrada is doing a promo on
Universo, and I want to see none of it.
1: Beatdown to start. It looks like we've got some updated pictures mixed in this week - I don't remember Universo and Averno pointing at me before. Rudos get Dos's mask off as he falls in the tree of woe. Averno kinda stands around and watches while the other two beat, but Sangre decides to attack him just to be sure. I bet Sangre is mad Averno and Mephisto picked freaking Safari over him. I know I'm still annoyed at them. Universo attempts to end Dos Cars with a Black Hammer, and the closest ref opts to cut off Mascara Sagrada from breaking it up rather than break it up himself. Luckily, Universo wanders around while in the set up, and Dos grabs the ropes to get free. Sangre's corner run up headscissors on Averno is completely blown and booed (on kid's day!), but it gets the pin anyway. Mascara Gordo eventually takes the slingshot into the very safe fireman's carry drop. Sangre goes to the top to add his low blow stomp/dropkick, and that's it.
2: Beatdown rolls on. Sangre gets in a nice dropkick while Averno is hanging in the tree of woe. Universo beats Dos all around ringside, and up to the ramp. Triple boot for Sagrada. Universo waves Averno in, who pretty much corners himself. He had no plan, which is always sad. Averno runs the ropes about four times before they finally do something to him - fireman's carry lift into a gutbuster. Dos is resting on the ramp, so he's not coming in for his turn. (He's setting up a spot, you see). Sagrada comes in instead, and there's the that moment where they visibly call the spot in the ring, so you know the comeback is the next move. They didn't call it quite loud enough, I guess, because Mascara Sagrada ducks his double clothesline, and Dos is behind schedule on the springboard dropkick. Comeback is on. Capos get beat on the outside while Averno works over Sangre inside. Averno as the firey tecnico is amusing. Dos throws Universo into the announce desk, so we can see Juan Carlos, Jesus, Miguel (not wearing the company white shirt!) and Magadan hard at work. Averno dropkicks Sangre out, and his usual no hands tope con giro makes for fine tecnico dive. The other guys end up in a dog pile - somehow, a cord stringer went down, Universo went down on top of him, and Dos goes on top of both of them, trying to choke Universo with the cord. MY2K and Sagrada end up on top too. Announcers are amused by the cord stringer racing back to his job as soon as he gets unstuck. Meanwhile, Mascara Sagrada gets a missile dropkick on Mascara Ano 2000, and that's good engorge to pretend to be the end of the fall. Dos chases Universo around the ring, up the ramp, around the entrance, and almost thru the curtain - Universo heads to the back rather than face Dos. Back in the ring, Averno's thrilled to have people chanting HIS name for once, so he's leading the chants.
3: More wacky shenanigans with Dos and Universo led to them actually starting the fall. Of course Dos gets the best of it when they get to wrestle. Dos sends Universo out with the enziguri, and does the Tiger Mask fake out. MA2K takes over, gets in some chest slaps, fairs no better. Tags to Sagrada and Universo. Universo wants a handshake, ends p chopping Sagrada. Those must be massive chops to hurt Sagrado thru his body suit. Chop battle leads to running, and these two guys shouldn't be running. Universo gets bumped out, and Sagrada follows with a tope. Dos back in, and Sangre tries to plancha him. That goes not so well for Mr. Azteca. Dos can't get a good hold of him for a press, so he sets Sangre down, and then picks him back up. He's just gotta press him. Press into a German Suplex, one two three. Averno and MA2K in, and Averno totally embraces the tecnico spirit by doing the standard good guy pinning combo - dropkick to the knee, casita, one two three.
Tecnicos celebrate. Averno shakes hands with Dos and I think Sagrada. Dos slowly chases after Universo, but Magadan's there to cut him off - er, interview Universo on the ramp. Dos gets his turn. Ew, pimply back. Dos wants a title shot! Hahahahaha, good one! Moving on, Magadan demands an explanation from Averno - what's up with him not turning or something? Averno gets the crowd to cheer, whatever he says.
Match 2: Mr. Aguila, Halloween (c), Damian 666 vs Maximo, Sagrado (c), Texano Jr.
in a Mexican Trios championship match
Arena Mexico, 04/29/07
Winner: Perros (2-0), become 28th champion
Match Time: 5:06
Approx Rating: Not much of a match - about as short a title change I can
recall.
Other Match Notes: No entrances - we join with everyone in the ring.
Well, Mr. Aguila is walking the top rope for no reason, but that counts. Mr.
Aguila is walking the top rope like he hasn't walked the top rope in five years,
he thought it'd be a fun idea to try now, and perhaps he had a few Coronas in
the locker room. Maximo does the interview for his team. Halloween introduces
his team. Damian's does Halloween's in half English, as always. He also does the
prematch interview, somehow without saying "Minimo." Texano is acting
slightly rudoish throughout.
1: Damian and Maximo start, Maximo quickly sending him out with an armdrag and doing a dance. Lockup, Maximo with a waistlock, Damián with a switch, Maximo with a behind the back armdrag, Maximo poses and waves Damián by, armdrag, Maximo blocks all Damian's strikes, kiss his hand, and touches it to Damian's mouth. Damian's appalled (still.) Halloween broadsides Maximo with a back elbow. Texano in, he misses a clothesline, and Halloween kills him with a spear. Halloween walks around before covering, but does for two. Whip, reversed, Halloween back and into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Halloween off the ropes, Texano ducks the clothesline and sends him out with an enziguri. Halloween slides his way out, of course. Mr. Aguila in, and he spin kicks Texano out, but gets knocked out himself with a Sagrado handspring back elbow. Sagrado quickly out after him with a fast tope con giro - it actually breezes over Aguila, but it's sold anyway. Halloween in and back elbowing Texano, but he tries for the spear again, Texano moves, and Halloween gets post. Texano pulls him out in time killing abdominal stretch while Maximo deals with Damian. Shoulderblock, and Maximo runs up the corner (slowly.) Middle rope turning plancha comes up empty, Damián bailing out of the way. If you slow it down and look for it, you can see his right ankle turn and hit the mat hard, but it's not very evident he got hurt here at first glance. (I had to go check my notes to remember what he hurt.) Halloween immediately communicates his problem to Damian, who picks the right ankle and grabs the arm to put on a submission without moving him, and that's good enough there. Meanwhile, Texano let go of his hold to help, and Halloween immediately pulled him into a backcracker. One two three, and that's the fall. Maximo rolls around on the mat a bit as Tigre Hispano check on him. As we get replays, we also get a split screen of the doctor untying Maximo's boot and trying to it off. That's a very bad idea - Maximo shakes in pain when he tries to do that, and now I think they're really concerned. FdT are mocking Sagrado and Mistico's pose to keep busy. Mr. Aguila does some jumping jacks to stay loose. Break.
2: The whistle blows to star this fall as they're brining in a backboard to take Maximo out. That seems ill-advised. There's like four security guys in the ring to help out, and they work double time while everyone else is fighting. As by law, Damian and Halloween get in some stomps on Maximo while he's still on the stretcher, and Aguila does a flying sit on Maximo when they finally get him lifted up. That's probably not the way to go. Security RUNS him to the back, and we get an inset a little later of him being loaded into a ambulance. This might be some time later, because he's switched from his ring gear to a white outfit. Meanwhile, things have settled down back in the ring, though Sagrado and Texano are having a discussion about who should go next. It ends up being Sagrado and Aguila. Sagrado off the ropes, over, into a jumping back elbow. Aguila poses. Aguila's hair looks as wacky as every today. Corner whip, Sagrado runs the ropes and comes down with a plancha. Tilt-a-whirl, Aguila escapes, jumping spin kick, Sagrado ducks under, Sagrado land the enziguri. Halloween in and he takes two backbreakers. Damian misses a clothesline and gets superkicked. Sagrado fakes the dive and poses - but gets kicked down by Aguila. Damián in to join him, and they whip Sagrado directly into Halloween's spear. Pin? No, they rethink it and set Sagrado up top. Texano is watching from the corner. Valaguesa for Sagrado, and Aguila adds the top rope legdrop. Everyone covers one two three - and that's it.
FdT ran over to cut off Texano as that count ended, but he makes it clear he doesn't want to fight - he wants handshakes. Hug for Damian even. FdT are confused, but they win so they're okay. Aguila does jumping jacks, because that sure wasn't much of a work out. Texano grabs the belt from the commission, and hands them out to the rudos. Those belts look polished.
Well, we've got a third fall segment, even if we don't have a third fall. Sagrado gives us some action, jumping Texano. FdT help a little to turn it around, and Texano gets in a low blow before posing. Fans do not approve. Texano asks the rudos if they'd like to join in stomping on Sagrado, and they like their idea. Perros never really get together for the group photo, what with the Texano stuff, which is maybe I haven't seen a group photo. They do pose in each corners, while Texano yanks off Sagrado's mask. The ref eventually gets it back Texano clears Sagrado out of the ring as Halloween does a celebratory interview with Magadan. Texano explains that his blood runs rudo. All four guys pose for the camera , which allows Sagrado to run and jump on them from behind. That goes well for about one second, and then Sagrado gets beat to the back.
