CMLL GDR - 02/24/07 (#66)
Recapped: 03/02/07
Unmasked: Kempo Kid, who turns out to be Texano Jr.
Match 1: Arkangel, Mogur, Nitro (c) vs Leono, Texano Jr. (c), Virus
Arena Mexico, 02/18/07
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:19
Approx Rating: Eh, okay.
Other Match Notes: Entrances here, so you can find out what song Mogur
is using as entrance music. Rudos enter second, and Mogur attacks Leono before
Nitro makes it out. He's not in any hurry, either. It apparently gets broken up,
because they're not fighting when we get to the ring. Mogur is not a good
promo.
1: Captains briefly start, but it's Arkangel and Virus who do the long mat wrestling. Mogur and Leono have heated exchanges to start, and Leono has caught the superkicking disease. Arkangel and Virus again leads to Virus doing his run up the post armdrag and then it's end game - Maximo with a figure four on Nitro as Mogur narrowly escapes a bodyscissors something form Leono.
2: Texano's caught the superkick disease! It's all over. Nitro and Virus, and Nitro has a clothesline so bad, he had to be meaning to feed that for armdrag. Virus looks good and gets in the middle rope headscissors to send Nitro out, but Nitro hides before we can get in a dive. Leono is in a hurry to face Mogur - he must have no been getting the best of this up till now. Somehow, a Mogur trip on Leono gets messed up, but it matters little since the rudos immediately start the beatdown. Since I don't get FSE at the moment, this is the first I've seen of Mogur since his return, and I'm watching him to see if I can figure out some special reason why he's back here. So far, he's just an okay experienced guy, maybe a little less than that. Arkangel gives Virus a Northern Lights Suplex, but doesn't/can't keep his bridge up and his shoulders are totally down. Ref will allow it.
3: Beatdown continues between falls. Leono's worked with kicks and punches for quite a while. Actually, they're keeping him isolated and preventing his partners in - total US strategy. Leono isn't clued in, I guess, because he sneaks a tag in at one point, only the refs disallow it. Leono gets hung on the ropes twice for flying moves from Arkangel and Nitro, but keeps kicking out. They try a double submission, but Leono still won't go, and the rudos get distracted when stopping the others from coming in. Leono ducks a double clothesline and hits a double back elbow on Nitro and Arkangel, superkicks Mogur, and reaches for the tag - only go get legscissored by Arkangel. Leono breaks away, and tags in Texano Jr., who's on fire for a good tens seconds - the rudos don't get back up after he drops them the first time. Virus in to get his turn, with some rudo miscommunication. Virus is back out quick so they can do Mogur and Leono. Leono ends up dropkicking Mogur and diving on him with a one rotation slingshot tornillo. Arkangel and Texano in, and Texano gets a big hiptoss to take control. Shoulderblocks are even, so Texano moves out of the way on the second pass, causing Arkangel to crash. Texano charges, and gets backdropped to the floor, with Arkangel following on a pescado. Virus quickly drops Nitro and ties him in a half crab/armbar that's in the ropes, and is also just a sideshow to Leono trying to finish off Mogur. Leono gets in a couple of dropkicks, but Mogur shrugs off the La Casita and fouls him. Tigre Hispano, who had to have seen that (but we didn't see him so who knows) counts three. Virus argues, and takes a spinebuster and half crab from Nitro.
Texano is stretched out - I think he hurt his knee catching Arkangel on that dive, though it wasn't really apparent in the replays. Apparently, we're to believe Tiger Hispano was looking outside the ring at the dive.
Match 2: Averno (c), Mephisto, Ephesto vs Blue Panther, Lizmark Jr. (c), Satanico
Arena Coliseo, 02/09/07
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:17
Approx Rating: Okay.
Other Match Notes: No entrances.
1: Hey, ref cam. Hey, ref cam isn't good. The picture is noticeable worse, it has issues when Baby Richard drops to his knees to count a pin, and following the action is harder because it's a very tight shot. As Averno wrestlers, someone in the front row appears to show off a Rencor Latino mask, which is great. Averno starts against Panther, but quickly gets Lizmark, who gets a showcase run. Mephisto breaks that up, but Satanico quickly is takes care of him and is about to finish him with the figure four pin when Mephisto gets him with a small package. Panther comes into break that, and the old men get the better of the rudos for a moment. Averno helps out his partners, but that just gets them all top rope plancha-ed by Lizmark. Triple victory for the tecnicos, with everyone going down at about the same time.
2: Efesto jumps Satanico to get the fall started. Ephesto gets a kick caught, and Satanico just kinda pushes him backwards. Averno fares no better. Mephisto at least gets into an even chest slap battle but Satánico rocks him with punches. Mephisto goes to the floor on a whip and ambushes Satanico with chops when he's there. Mephisto holds Satánico in place, but Satanico gets free at the last second and Averno & Efesto dropkick him instead. Mephisto argues with his teammates a bit, but they get it together to beatdown Blue Panther in a corner. Hmm, Mephisto's boots have a M on them. Lizmark is warned not to come in illegally, but finally does, just in time for the rudos to beat him. Satanico in - does he have new gear? - and he takes the corner charges. Panther back in and held open for Efesto to chop to pieces. Efesto goes thru a ten second setup to give Panther the lightest spinebuster slam possible, while Averno & Mephisto wait for him to finally get Panther in position. Stereo top rope headbutts aren't perfectly timed, but get the job done. Lizmark is brought in, and Averno & Mephisto end up hiptossing Efesto on top of him for the pin. Magadan starts sending it to break, despite there not actually being one.
3: In between falls is clipped out, but the rudos are still working Lizmark as we pick, choking them all over the ropes. Satanico gets isolated for a double boot and pose by Averno & Mephisto. Panther in, and he gets about 2 seconds of fight in before he's swatted down. Panther avoids an Averno corner splash and chops everyone to take control. Lizmark gives Averno a face rake over the top rope, which is kinda lame, and goes after his mask, which makes me wonder if he's still bitter about Averno ripping off his mask last Summer. Lizmark and Averno are the ones who stay in, for the three seconds there before Averno takes the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Mephisto fairs better, clothesline Lizmark to the floor, though he lands on his feet. Mephisto teases an Asai Moonsault, but Lizmark is a little late in pulling him off the ropes to prevent it and it doesn't come off well. Might have been a clip here, but we get Panther trying to 'rana Averno for the win next, with Efesto breaking up before leaving. Whip, Averno scoops up Panther and gives him the fireman's carry diamond cutter, but that pin is broke up as well. A bit of chaos breaks out, with everyone but Panther ending up outside, and Satanico being whipped into the post shoulder first. Blue Panther tries to help out with a dive, but the rudos move and Panther's pescado comes up empty. I can't believe he did that. Lizmark gets Mephisto with the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, and calls for the press lam, but Efesto and Averno cut him down. Triple Infernal bomb, and that's it.
That's it. Total match time: 25:36
