CMLL FSE GdR - 02/04/07 (#26)
Recapped: 07/06/07
Misterioso joins the announcers for the introduction, and so they can discuss his mask.
Unmasked: Dark Angel. Dark Angel's mask is awful.
Felino does the FSE promo before break.
Match 1: Hooligan, Loco Max (c), Mr. Mexico vs Leono (c), Metro II, Tony Rivera
Arena Coliseo, 01/28/07
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:46
Approx Rating: Average.
Other Match Notes: Loco Max is in his superman outfit. Mr. Mexico does
the promo for his side, which is mostly Magadan trying to clam him down. No
tecnico promo.
1: Puebla guys start on the mat, and they've got a couple good sequences, as you'd expect from guys who've worked against each other. Tony/Mexico next, also on the mat. Hooligan's really upset to face Metro, like who'd he think he was going to get. Metro sends Hooligan out with a flying armdrags, stops to pose for a bit, and then hits a plancha anyway. That was odd. Maybe a clip involved? Tony and Loco end up in, with Tony power slamming Loco to set up for a Leono springboard splash, and the finishing off Mexico himself.
Virus does the FSE promo
2: Tony is doing the fake handshake bit with Mr. Mexico, and that just makes him angry. They're much worse with each other this time. Tony slips on a shoulderblock, timing is off on a dropkick to the knee and it looks bad when it's hit, and tan up and over sunset flip completely. That would've been fine to clip. Lots of camera shots of the crowd after the fact, while Leono and Loco Max are starting. Loco gets bumped around, being sent off with an enziguri kick to the back. Enziguri means kick to the back of the head, I know. Metro comes in to face Hooligan doing his repeated forward flip thing which may be the best part of him. Hooligan gets freaked out, but then knocks the other tecnicos off the apron to start the beatdown. Teamwork spots entirely. Leono gets all sorts of drops. Mr. Mexico throws Tony around his hair, and Hooligan snap mares him in position for a Loco Max splash. Referees alert the rudos that they need one more as Leono comes back in, and he's very helpful in being that one more. Hooligan gives him the safest looking Hooligan Crash ever.
3: Beatdown continues. Loco goes after Metro's mask, untying it completely. Metro immediately evades a corner charge to start the comeback. Fights all over the place, including Hooligan taking backbreaker on the floor and Loco getting posted. Settles down to Metro and Loco in the ring, with Metro getting a near fall off a bodyscissors cradle. Small package by Metro gets two. Abdominal stretch gets broken up by Hooligan, and soon the other four are in the ring. Tecnicos reverse whips and rudos are sent into each other. Hooligan gets a dropkick to the floor, and Leono does a slow one rotation tornillo after him. Mr. Mexico follows with a pescado of his own, and Tony lands tope on him. Loco sets up for his dive, but Metro cuts him off with a backbreaker? Another? Crowd says yes, so they get one. Another? We look at the crowd, and look back at the ring just in time to see Loco yank Metro's mask. That's that. They build this like there's supposed to be a feud here, though I don't recall one.
Felino FSE promo.
Match 2: Atlantis (c), Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero vs
Dr. Wagner Jr., Volador Jr., Mistico (c)
Arena Coliseo, 01/28/07
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:26
Approx Rating: About as expected.
Other Match Notes: Mistico's prematch interview is less a promo, more
him being handed the three masks he's won. Atlantis' gear says "This Idol
of the Kids". Ultimo's promo has a valet tying his mask on. Ultimo nearly
forgets he's facing the non-Mistico/Wagner guy he's facing here.
1: We get TEN SECONDS in before the rudos jump the tecnicos. Atlantis and Wagner are going after each other, natch. Olimpico gets to press slam Mistico on the outside and walk around with him up. Face first to the apron for Mistico, he gets that a lot. Atlantis looks slow running the ropes. Slower than usual. Oh, I guess Monito's here. Missed him earlier. Olimpico pulls guard on Mistico! I dunno. Slow speed corner charges on Wagner. Mistico is wedged underneath the bottom turnbuckle, I guess. Atlantis gets Mistico in Atlántida, and that's that. Olimpico puts Wagner in a submission for good measure. Ultimo posts Monito's chest, and Olimpico gives him a giant swing. Mistico takes a flapjack as we go to break.
2: Teamwork spots, on Wagner to start. He's waving to the crowd even while selling this week. It's called multitasking. Volador gets the triple face first powerbomb. Olimpico kicks at Monito in the corner. Mistico evades the first corner charge, and it's the backflip over a double clothesline escape from there. Mistico gets a good superkick on Olimpico. I'd be thrilled that someone's figured out how to teach superkicks in Mexico if I wasn't watching this wildly out of order and knew it to be untrue. Ultimo takes a Monito top rope splash, and surprisingly, that's not the pin. Ah, he's got to the handspring double kick too. Atlantis comes in to take help Ultimo against Volador and Mistico. The idea is to do double up and over sunset flips, except Atlantis thinks the idea is Mistico will do a 619 on him. So the timing is a bit off, but they get there. Wagner gets Olimpico with a horrible bodyscissors cradle for good measure.
3: Usual tecnico showcase bits. Volador goes last, takes out Olimpico with a tope con giro, and Wagner and Mistico quickly pick up the pins from there.
This week, Mistico wants a shot at the trios titles with this pair. Mistico wants something, always. Wagner and Volador back up that idea, so maybe that was the plan this week.
