AAA Mini Line - 01/07/07
Recapped: ?-02/05/07

Interview: for the untold time, Abismo explains there are no leaders in the Vipers, even though he's the one who always cuts this promos, and not say Histeria. Next year is going to be there year.

Match 1: Abismo Negro (c), Antifaz, Charly Manson, Histeria vs Brazo de Plata Jr., el Angel, Elegido (c), Laredo Kid
Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, 12/08/06

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 17:39
Notes: Charly Manson is wearing his Hell Brothers gear. He's got a new song mixed into his intro as well. I had Alebrije listed here, but it's Porky Jr. instead. Abismo's music is still talking about LLL. Antifaz is personally offended by Elegido's dance. Elegido could use a tan. I would think a professional stripper would know that. Piero is your ref. Including intros and three commercial breaks, the first match of the show of the show officially starts 26 minutes into the show.

Tecnico showcase to start, with the odd exception of Angle getting totally dominated by Abismo. Elegido's sequence was masked with crowd shots on multiple occasions, and they edited out some of Plata's stuff in the process. Beatdown starts about 7:00, just as Laredo's getting his second run. Beatdown is all team work, no singles brawling. 11 in, Histeria and Antifaz go for a double superplex on Plata, only for Laredo Kid and Angle to back superplex them off. The timing is off, but not disastrously so. Despite this, Charly and Abismo hit top rope splashes on Plata, and the comeback is on, although with a big cut. When we're back, Elegido has Abismo in a standing figure four (that must've been entertaining) and Charly Manson puts Elegido in a standing surfboard. Angel puts Charly in a dragon sleeper, Antifaz grabs Angel's leg for an ankle lock, Plata - well, now they're not showing me a good angle of it, but it's the heading to that all eight submission I was hoping for. It'd be neater if I could see it. I know Histeria's got like a tiburzon on Plata. Laredo is the only one missing - he comes off the top with a legdrop on Histeria, which breaks up the whole pile. All the Vipers end up with pins off simple moves, and the rudos all kick out. I guess not Laredo and Antifaz, because they're weirdly out of sync. Same thing with the tecnicos. Everyone spills outside, and we've got a 4th break. (12:50)

Match rolls on with one on one sequences. Histeria and Laredo Kid are about even, Antifaz dominates Laredo Kid, Elegido dominates Elegido, Charly Manson, Charly Manson has the better of El Elegido, Brazo de Plata Jr. and Charly are about equal though Plata rallies, and Abismo is slightly better than Plata. Abismo gives Brazo de Plata Jr. a cradle sit down piledriver, and he's dead for sure. Announcers react as if it's a DQ, but Piero doesn't even consider it. Laredo Kid comes in for his team, and actually slides Abismo out before flattering him with the double spin tornillo. Angel and Histeria come in and blow the wacky reverse bodyscissors they were going for. Angel throws Histeria out, and does a Asai Moonsault onto him, landing in the front row in the process. We watch replays, and just miss another dive (Antifaz plancha), but are back in time see Plata and Charly Manson do topes. El Elegido teases a tope, but climbs the ropes for a plancha (with Abismo and Charly bailing and not catching.) Laredo Kid and Abismo in, and Abismo's not going to lose this again - immediate Martinez Special (which also is a piledriver) and that's it.

They decide to sell this piledriver as huge. Abismo cleans his nose on Laredo Kid, and celebrates with - a opposing futbol shirt, I'm sure. There are random people in the ring, covering up Laredo Kid, and the Vipers are stomping them - I guess they're medical workers. Tecnicos run off the Vipers, so Abismo takes to cutting a promo - Vipers are ruling the world, and Charly's given a hug goodbye. Charly's about to say something to over the microphone, but Piero comes over to the announcers and starts talking about the Box Y Lucha commission - are they going to flip this over to a DQ? They kinda mute him out in a fade to a break, so I guess not yet.

After the break, Laredo Kid gets stretched out, and the Vipers have one more farewell in the ring. This an awful lot of tearful breakup for a guy who was only in the group like 3 months and is ditching them to be in a better group. Piero is still raising the rudos arms, so I guess no overturned finish. Replays.

Recap: The Mexican Powers are the new Atomicos champs. We're an hour in and have only had one match, by the way.

Match 2: Cuervo (c), Ozz, Scoria vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Psicosis II (c)
Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, 12/08/06

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 9:02
Other Match Notes: Mexican Powers are wearing the belts like shoulder straps. Espiritu is out with the rest of the team. Hijo de Tirantes is the ref. Tirantes seems to toss Espiritu, but I guess he only said "get out of the ring."

Usual match with these teams. Dark Family takes over a minute in. Tirantes catches Espiritu interfering on the outside, but doesn't really do much about it and he's back to screwing around before long. Tecnicos turn it around and four minutes with all three rudos put their heads down too soon at the same time. That's bad work! Dive frenzy. MPs gets their own beatdown segment, because they've got a lot of combo moves to do without actually trying for a pin. Joe Lider misses a corner charge, so Ozz can start the rudo comeback, which is actually just a setup for a absurd double team. Psicosis and Crazy Boy go to the back, and bring in a barbed wire table with no legs. Why? Espiritu comes in and attacks everyone and Tirantes allows it, so I think he's going in it. He goes get beat, but that allows the Dark Family to all back in. They tease someone running into the barbed wire, and Mexican Powers immediately rally back for near falls - who's going to believe a near fall when they haven't used the barbed wire yet? The match isn't ending till someone goes in it so everything else is pointless. Joe Lider takes a sunset flip powerbomb off the apron, which they try to make safe but he still gets hurt because it's a sunset powerbomb. Crazy Boy accidentally goes slightly into the barbed wire, but they don't sell it because it's not supposed to happen yet. Muerte Cibernetica is out for no reason. Oh, he gets to do the barbed wire spot, powerbombing Crazy Boy into it. This breaks the table - or cardboard or whatever it is - in half, with Crazy Boy laying on half on the other half free. Cuervo uses the free half to cover Crazy Boy, so he's getting barbed wire from both sides but Cuervo isn't touching it. Cuervo is a smart man.

There was minimal attempt at a distraction there, but Hijo de Tirantes turned and saw it at the end, so whatever. Crazy Boy gets strechered out.

Promo: Scorpio Jr. Scorpio sounds like he smoked 8 packs of cigarette before cutting this promo.

Match 3: Scorpio Jr. vs Alan Stone vs Brazo de Plata vs Intocable in a bull terrier match with hair on the line
Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, 12/08/06

Loser: Brazo de Plata.
Match Time: 12:17
Other Match Notes: Intocable's music has random horse noises, which is great. His backup singers are bigger than him. He's a very thin man. He's got a gun, that'll help. Rudos attack the tecnicos before the introductions are done, and tit's on.

I'm thinking 90 seconds before Porky bleeds, but they're not working him over it's about a minute, so never mind. The focus is on Scorpio holding Intocable, and Alan doing springboards. I can't believe, they didn't use the mirror this time. Double suplex on Porky! Inset interview with Porky and Scorpio which we can't actually hear, but they fight. Did this happen today? Did this happen when the feud started? I don't know. TO be fair, they may explain it. Alan lands a moonsault on Intocable and goes for the pin, and Piero explains to him the rules of this match. Okay, Alan says, he'll touch all six. One, two three, (passing by Scorpio) for five, six! That was easy! He's done? He 's worried about something now - maybe he's not done because he doesn't actually have the chain on. I guess we find out later, because he's still fighting, and the tecnicos run the Guapos into each other to get a comeback. Scorpio doesn't have his chain on and escapes to the floor, and Porky has to pull his chain with to set up the apron plancha. Piero gets the chain on Scorpio while Intocable gets it on Alan. All four end up outside, till Intocable throws Alan into the front row and heads into the ring himself. While we're watching replays of that, Intocable gets three corners - but Alan pulls him short on four. Alan gets an edge with a dropkick and starts making his run, getting five - but Porky grabs the chain and stops him before five. I think the two feuds are tired to different chains (again), but it's tough to see. Porky slams and splashes Alan while he's at it, but that allows Scorpio to finally get that mirror. Scorpio swings, Porky moves out of the way, grabs it, thinks about it (Scorpio stands, does nothing), turns, readies himself (Scorpio still standing dumbly) and bops Scorpio with the mirror. Which breaks, but not as well as usual. Scorpio's not too good about hiding the blade here. Porky gives him one more shot to be sure, and then goes to help Intocable. Porky fails at that too, Alan moving and Intocable taking a charge and a splash. Alan takes off running one two three four fi-0 no, Scorpio took him down. That's hash of Scorpio. Here's some camera angles that show the glass a little bit better. The glass did break, but the plastic backing of the mirror didn't, which made it look less. Back live, Alan low blows Intocable, dropkicks the other two, and gets going. One two three four five Porky blocks him, Alan kicks him, dive s over him, and gets six. he's free for sure.

Hey, look, Scorpio's bleeding. He takes the double team. Porky wears himself out running cross ring, so Intocable decides to start tagging corners, going cross ring to do the first one. One two three four five - Intocable's back over to where Porky is (and was biting Scorpio), and thinks if he should do and leave the match or not, and Porky decides for him by slamming Intocable's fist on the last turnbuckle. He's done. Girls are thrilled. Intocable's still not sure, but Porky kisses him on the forehead and hugs him. One more splash for Scorpio, and Porky's taking his turn. One two three, four - Piero trips him up! Piero busies himself with fixing the chain and Scorpio chokes Porky on the ropes so Alan and Piero can get in punches. Why is Piero ref? That seems wrong. While we were watching replays, Alan apparently knocks down Intocable and is teasing a chair shot. Brazo de Plata Jr. is out to clear house on the Guapos, including the ref. 3 gets the better of one, and his mask gets ripped up. Porky is out on his feet, but the crowd is cheering for him and he's reacting. There's the big splash onto the rudos. Intocable and Plata Jr. try to boost Porky back in the ring and under the bottom rope, but it's not working - and he falls backwards onto them. Intocable gets it on the second try. Crowd chanting for Porky, and he and Scorpio stare at each other for a moment - their chain is wrapped around a ring post, I think. There looks to be a clip here as they fix that, and there's a lot less chain when we come back. Porky and Scorpio fight, with Porky getting in his usual spots, including a big sit after a sunset flip. Porky going up? That's dumb. Foul, powerbomb, and Scorpio's off. Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, Porky charges Scorpio as he makes the last turn and rams him into the last corner (didn't come off as well as it reads) for seis.

Porky gets his hair cut, people cut promos, Porky gets more hair cut, Porky cuts a post match promo.

Match 4: Elix Skipper, Head Hunter I (c), Hernandez vs Alebrije, La Parka Jr. (c), Octagon
Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, 12/08/06

Winner: Rudos.
Match Time: 6:54
Other Match Notes: Arturo singing along with Born In the US is great. Hernandez is not wearing his Mr. Texas gear. Break before the match, and rudos attack immediately upon return.

You can tell these are gringos because they go for pinfalls. They also enjoy beating up Cuije much. Anyway, Hernandez is slamming all the tecnicos, and goes to slam Head Hunter onto the tecnicos, but they all move and that start the comeback at about 4 minutes. We get a second break in 6 minutes, because of those long segments earlier? Action's moved ahead by the time I've rejoined, but that may be to a local cable commercial. Hijo de Tirantes takes a ref bump, and Head Hunter diced to fake a foul. Hijo de Tirantes is the worst ref in the world today, and he gives the DQ. Why couldn't they stick with the match for an extra minute to get in the foul? That's all it was, as far a I saw.

Vignette: Charly Manson gives Cibernetico that package we saw last week. Cibernetico takes a look at the CD, and happens to have a mini player right with him. Bus trips are long, man. Anyway, we see the video - which is Konnan yelling at Estrellita on the street. She's on the phone, dude! Konnan yells into the phone, which doesn't actually help. Estrellita is moved to slap Konnan, and Konnan punches him in the face. Cibernetico whips his DVD player to the crowd, shattering in half, and goes into a rage. Charly Manson is barely able to keep him from destroying the wall.

Match 5: Muerte Cibernetica vs Cibernetico in a casket match
Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, 12/08/06

Winner: Cibernetico
Match Time: 17:38
Other Match Notes: Out with Muerte: Konnan, the Dark Family, and Espiritu. Muerte wears his mask to the ring, because it's all about coming full circle. Ah, Konnan has the Puerto Rican flag. Cibernetico has new music, which helps. Or maybe that's Chessman's music, since he's out first to get the crowd yelling. Yea, that's Cibernetico's music. Where's Charly? Druids carry out a casket. Good to see Air Force get on the card. (Well, maybe.) The Sect has abandoned the ring by the time Cibernetico gets into to set off fireworks. Hey, Konnan's ref, and Cibernetico's not too happy with him. Arturo tries to get the Ole Ole Ole/Ciber chant started. What actually gets started is the Dark Family beatdown on Cibernetico. Muerte goes in to dive onto Cibernetico, but he moves and the Sect gets it.

Cibernetico doesn't know what to do when control of a match before the comeback, but then he's not had the practice. Muerte takes care of that by fouling him. Konnan gives Muerte a fist pound. After a replay, Muerte goes for a chair shot on Cibernetico, but Chessman spears him. Chessman gets the chair, but Konnan fouls him and gives the chair back to Muerte. By the time he can use it, Cibernetico's up and kicking him. Crowd is loud. They're overpowering the microphones. Back to Cibernetico's lame tecnico offense. Neck vise with face biting. Muerte gets to his feet, and gives Cibernetico what might have been the loosest DDT in the history of the world, if in fact that was a DDT to begin with. It was A Move. Muerte has punches, but he's not really doing a lot more. Back to the chair, and this time Chessman is just arguing the point from the outside. Muerte smartly goes after the bad leg. Cibernetico gets pulled to his feet and goes fro the chokeslam, but Muerte makes like Chris Benoit and reveres it to an armbar and eventually a crossface. Konnan asks if Muerte gives, so I guess it's not a casket match at this moment. Cibernetico actually pounds the mat when Konnan's yelling at Chessman, but he's not taping, he's just firing the crowd up. Did Konnan just eject Chessman? Konnan's smart! Well, not smart enough to end this match, but he's thinking. When did Cibernetico get busted open? He's all sorts of bloody one half of his face - I guess it was the face biting earl, but that came out of nowhere for me. Slow slow offense. Konnan gets bored and adds a stomp. Muerte directs traffic, and waits around while the Black Family gets a ladder, so he can just throw it at Cibernetico. Ladder clothesline. Ladder sandwich on the leg. This match is almost too slow for simple fast forward. Puerto Rican flag in as Muerte beats up Cibernetico more. Whip, Cibernetico manages to stop short all of his own, Muerte charges and of course gets backdropped into the ladder. Konnan argues with Cibernetico to allow Muerte to recover for some more ladder shots. Cibernetico gets thrown out and stomped, and now Muerte shoves him in the casket.

The casket's not a WWE worked casket, where it's oversized so people actually have some space and you can close the lid (which is on a hinge) without having to squish the body all the way down. This is a legit casket, so unless you've got the other person laying in there just right, it's pretty impossible to close it, and the lids not hinged on anyway. Cibernetico ends up getting a goozle, and holds it as they both roll back into the ring, which seems fairly unlikely. Cibernetico keeps holding it as they stand there for ten seconds, and finally does the chokeslam. Konnan tells the Dark Family to get in, and it's a five way stomp down. Where's the run in? Takes a while, but Charly Manson and Chessman (thrown out so he could run back in) rush out for the save. Charly realizes the numbers and just low blows Ozz to take him out before dealing with other people. Cibernetico recovers and walks around the ring, while other people walk around the ring. It's exciting times. Hell Brothers set up a couple of tables for Muerte who still has not gotten up from that chokeslam. Cibernetico picks him up, and Muerte goes from ) to reversing whips and charging the corner - Cibernetico moves, and Muerte takes a tope to nowhere. Konnan is passes one of those aluminum pipes which never do anything  but bend. Chessman grabs it from him, Konnan eye rakes Chessman, and goes for something out of pocked. Ah, brass knuckles. Konan teases actually punching, but Cibernetico breaks it up. Konnan and Chessman exchange punches anyway - Konnan's brass knuckles are having no more affect than Chessman's punches, of course - because Cibernetico has to pick up the pipe. Cibernetico could've attacked Konnan from behind, but I guess he thought it was a 1000% more effective with the stupid pipe. Shot to the back, Konnan takes his only bump off the mat, and Cibernetico works him over with more (weak) shots to the back. See you later, Konnan. Crowd goes crazy for this. Cibernetico celebrates for a while, and then starts using the pipe again on Konnan, who ain't moving. What a guy. Konnan is pulled out by the Dark Family and laid face first on the floor, which is kinda sad. I guess they used up the only stretcher they have with Crazy Boy? There's some clipping here, and he must've eventually been put on one.

Anyway, Muerte's finally back in the ring, and Copetes is out to take over as referee. Muerte's grabbed, and choke/thrown onto the two tables on the outside. Hell Brothers didn't do the best job of setting up the tables - they went perpendicular to the ring instead of parallel to the side. Instead of going thru the middle of one, Muerte basically fell between the end of two, making it even more unfun then it needed to be. Hell Brothers put Muerte in the casket, and Cibernetico celebrates - I guess that it. though the fans aren't clear till his arm gets raised. Charly nails the coffin shut, and the druids carry it off. Carrying a casket up stairs ain't fun.

Cibernetico cuts a promo. He dedicated the match to Pena and his mom. Meanwhile, they've left the casket on the stage and the doctor is checking on Muerte thru a flap on the door - it's kinda creepy that once again, photographers are taking pictures of a guy in a casket, but I guess that's the joke? The druids pick the casket up and keep walking off as a bunch of confetti gets shot off for the Hell Brothers.

Cibernetico ditches his teammates. That's nice of him.

Later? Cibernetico escorts the druids, who are still carrying the casket, except now they have torches and are near water. Cibernetico's talking thru this, talking about the turn and such. It's dark and things aren't so visible, so the torches help, though I don't think that's what they're here for. The rudos stop, and Cibernetico takes one of the torches. Lots of creepy shots, and they show that Muerte was at least taped as still being in the casket (though, oddly, blood doesn't appear to be on his face anymore. Cibernetico tells the druids to lit the casket back on fire. They do, and then the druids lift the flaming coffin back up over the shoulders, which is the craziest thing yet, before dumping it into the water. Obviously, that dampens the flames, but video effects show the coffin boiling in the lava of Cibernetico's hate, or some such thing. Everyone says Apocalpisis Ahora very dramatically.

That's it, and I couldn't be happier.
