12/07: Mexico preview, IWRG, Neza

CMLL (FRI) 12/07 Arena Mexico
1) Amapola, Hiroka, Medussa vs Dark Angel, Luna Magica, Marcela
2) Felino, Super Nova, Valiente vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Virus
3) Dos Caras Jr., La Sombra, Sagrado vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible
4) Atlantis, Averno, Último Guerrero vs Blue Panther, Místico, Negro Casas
5) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo vs LA Park
6) Lizmark Jr. & Shocker vs Black Warrior & Rey Bucanero [hair, ri]

NotiMex has a general preview. ESTO‘s preview has quotes from all the particpants.

This show is noteworthy but it still doesn’t feel like an important show. The hair feud hasn’t meant anything up to this point, as shown by CMLL making last minute changes and no one’s interest level changing. I still think Warrior and Bucanero are losing. I’d hope this turns Rey back to the rudo side permanently, but I wonder about anything getting followed up after this show as people start to disappear for the holidays.

CMLL

It looks like Park was promised a feud with Perro Jr. in exchange for ditching the Santo show, so this singles match should be the start of something, not a conclusive finish. (LA Park vs Perro Jr. in a hair/mask match would work as an anniversary main even next September, but who knows what’ll happen between now and then.) Perro wants to do crazy brawling matches and LA Park wants to do crazy brawling matches, so that’s what this’ll be. Hopefully they don’t go too crazy and get themselves in trouble.

Fourth match is a combo of two of the two feuds. I don’t think we’re getting title rematches this month, but this trios match seems like one that might get repeated as a revenge match next week before everyone leaves.

Tercera’s the usual “get six more guys onto the show in an indiscriminate way”, though I guess they could be setting up the Perros going after Sombra/Sagrado/Volador’s trios titles again. Segunda should be a fun match. Opener should be building Dark Angel vs Amapola but I don’t know if they’ll get around to that ever.

triplea’s site talks about La Parka’s shoulder injury. It’s two months of recovery and two months of rehab.

IWRG (SUN) 12/02 Arena Naucalpan [thegladiatores]
1) Tortuguillo Ninja I & Tortuguillo Ninja II b Halcon Salvaje & Nemesis IWRG
2) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro DQ Captian Muerte, Cyborg, Xibalva [EdM TRIOS]
3) Bogeman, Negro Navarro, Veneno b Hijo de Mascara Ano 2000, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Yamato
4) Fantasma de la Ópera DQ Black Terry [IWRG IC WELTER]
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Negro Casas, Silver King DQ el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hijo del Cien Caras, Villano III

Lots of DQs. Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. snuck and fouled Wagner in the main event, as they’re pushing Wagners vs Dinamitas. Black Terry actually got the pinfall in the third fall, but the commissioner overturned the finish due to Terry winning by foul. The Death Squadron lost the first fall, and then got DQed for excessive violence in the second. Way to blow your title match.

CMLL (SUN) 12/02 Arena Neza [The Gladiatores]
1) Ambar b Iron Boy
2) Chamaco & Dr. Trauma b ?? del Futuro & Hijo de Gran Markus
3) Flama Roja & Mohicano I b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
4) Flash & Tony Rivera b Ramisten & Virus
5) Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Olímpico DQ Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Volador Jr.

Mohicano I yanked Tapatio 1’s mask. Warrior faked a low blow to get the win.

This article appears to confuse Fuerza Guerrera for Ultimo Guerrero on an upcoming Veracruz show.

Enfoque Informativo has bios of Abismo Negro and Intocable, who were opponents in a tag match in Tepic last night.

12/06: notes

Ovaciones has an Alex Koslov interview. He wants to take a title from Averno and win the masks of Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero in 2008. It’s good to dream. They plug http://www.alexkoslov.com/ as his website, but that doesn’t appear right. Maybe they meant his mySpace.

Ovaciones says Cibernetico is still in the hospital, but maybe will get out today. They also confirm there’s no IWRG show tonight.

MBLW (SUN) 12/09 Arena Coliseo San Luis Potosi [El Sol de SLP]
1) Aranita, Principe del Futuro, Principe Leon vs Chacal Ruiz Jr., Desconocido Jr., Sepulturero I
2) Astro Latino, Centella Inca, Maligno vs Cosaco Loco, Gigante Warrior, Guerrero de la Muerte

Astro Latino is the wrestler who was Astro Boy here.

CMLL (SUN) 12/09 Gimnasio Nuevo Leon [rfc]
1) Orientale I & Orientale II vs Gitano & Golden Boy
2) Rey Hechicero vs Tigre Universitario [mask, WWA MIDDLE]
3) Blue Panther & Silver King vs Atlantis & Último Guerrero

Title change?

The Tijuana box y lucha commission members who proposed splitting the commission in two (which was vetoed the next day) have been removed from office. The prior administration has taken over, and says there will be not split.

chart

CAN52: The women’s title match isn’t in the right spot (and wasn’t built at all here), but they usually show all the Sunday single matches and the hair match has go to end up on FSE.

FSEUS: back on the Leono/Mexico (with a good supporting cast) and the full Trio of Terror vs Mascara/Sagrado/Dragon. End of Year Main Event Preview should air here too.

AAAUS: Cibernetico/Parka vs Mesias/Zorro, which really should’ve been the start of the rudos not getting along (but they didn’t figure that out till next taping.) More of the same on the undercard: Guapos vs Stones, Night Queens vs Pimpi/Cassandro/others. Minis is different, at least.

AAAMEX: Maybe the Xalapa taping airs this time? Best guess, anyway.

CMLLMEX: Scheduled for a 2 hour show, so top 3 from the end of year show.

FS-MEX: Leono vs Mr. Mexico. Terror vs Felino/Sagrado/Volador should be the other match.

12/05: title change, Puebla, Cibernetico’s burnt back

CMLL (TUE) 12/04 Arena Mexico [ova]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Molotov, Starman, Trueno b Calígula, Méssala, Zayco
3) Atomo, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito b Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Damian 666, Pierrothito
4) Felino, Heavy Metal, La Máscara b Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico
5) Lizmark Jr., Mephisto, Sangre Azteca b La Sombra, Valiente, Volador Jr.
6) Atlantis & Último Guerrero b Blue Panther & Negro Casas [CMLL TAG]

Panther hurt Ultimo’s left knee with a submission to win the first fall, but Ultimo and Atlantisw heroically battled back to take the second, then took the third with Atlantidas. A poster on el martinete really liked this match.

Wait, doesn’t that headline say title change? Oh:

CMLL (TUE) 12/04 Arena Queretaro [Pillo del Mal]
1) Averno b Vangelis, Místico [losers advance]
2) Místico b Vangelis [MEX LH, CMLL WELTER]

Didn’t even know they were having this match till I saw that post with the results. It started as a triangle match, with the winner escaping and the losers having to put their titles on the line. (Averno would’ve put the NWA Middleweight title on the line. I just realized he unified the middleweight titles – what a big deal that turned out not to be.) Averno won, and Mistico beat the obscure national light heavyweight champion Vangelis. I believe Vangelis bought this title from El Dandy, which would mean CMLL would’ve now have bought it from Vangelis. That doesn’t make any sense and seems very strange.

Mistico’s back up to three titles with this one, the IWRG one, and the CMLL Welterweight title. LH range is 87 to 97 kg and Mistico’s listed at 75 kg. Must’ve been a heck of a lunch.

CMLL (MON) 12/03 Arena Puebla [hugo999
1) Asturiano & Centella de Oro b Fuerza Chicana & Mr. Rafaga
2) Black Terry, Policeman, Siki Osama Jr. b Cerebro Negro, Furia Chicana, Toro Bill
3) Loco Max, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura b Ángel Azteca Jr., Flash, Stuka Jr.
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Shocker b Universo 2000, Villano IV, Villano V
5) LA Park, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Misterioso II

Park got away with a foul on Perro for the win.

El Sol de Tampico has photos of Cibernetico’s burnt back. There’s more from the print edition on el Martiente.

Dr_landru @ Satanico’s Mansion says the TNA Mexico promoter says the shows were canceled due to injuries to Sting and Kurt Angle (both of whom are fine as far as I know), and will be rescheduled for April or May.

A story on Vampiro as Guardian Angel got picked up by some wire services. That link has an English NY Daily news version, and there’s versions in Spanish as well. (Thanks to mikeinformer)

Univison writes about Canek collecting food for flood victims in Tabasco.

LLF (FRI) 12/07 Arena Femenil Monterrey [rfc]
1) Angelica & Perla Negra vs Dama Hierro & Lady Puma
2) Bandida vs Candy [ref hair]
3) Patty Rey vs Shira [hardcore]
4) Diana La Cazadora, Princesa yara, Simply Luscious vs ?, La Chacala, Polly Star
5) Tsunami vs Reyna Azteca [hair]

Main event is a hair match between two masked women (thought heir hair sticks out past their mask.) This is the 7th anniversary show for the promotion, and the posts note that it’s been a bad year for the group.

AAA (MON) 12/10 Auditorio Municipal Tampico [El Sol de Tampico]
1) Flash (Tampico) & Okusono vs Black Master & Disturbio
2) Buldozer, Corsario Blanco, Impulso vs ?, Arana Maligna I, Arana Maligna II, Pastro Diabolico
3) Mini Charly Manson & Sexy Star vs La Diabólica & Mini Ozz
4) Jesse, Polvo de Esterllas, Yuriko vs Ángel Mortal, Gallego, Mr. Cóndor
5) Aerostar, Rey Cometa, Super Fly vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
6) Charly Manson, Chessman, Mascara Divina vs Antifaz del Norte, Histeria, Psicosis

The local rotary club is sponsoring the show as part of it’s Fight Against Cancer.

WAGNER (SAT) 12/22 Poliforum de la Feria Torreon [Milenio (Torreon)]
1) Brillante Sr., Sexy Piscis, Stuka Jr. vs Hooligan, Misterioso II, Sexy Francis
2) Silver King vs Shigeo Okumura
3) La Sombra & Máximo vs Damián 666 & Nitro
4) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Rey Bucanero vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Héctor Garza

This show will air on Multimedios Laguna on Christmas.

Guerreros del Ring #115 has the outdated Sin Limite main event

CMLL End of Year Main Event Now Shocker/Lizmark Jr. vs Warrior/Bucanero

Yes, really. Medio Tiempo has a write up from the press conference for the show. Originally, they were just supposed to announce Toscano being subbed out for Lizmark, but the bigger switch was set up. CMLL is quote as saying two hairs will fail, so this is not a rulete de muerte situation.

Despite not having issues prior, Black Warrior was upset about teaming with Lizmark Jr., and Bucanero was upset that Shocker no-showed the press entirely (side note: uh oh) and he also suddenly remembered Shocker took his mask way back when. Hasn’t seemed to bug him the last six months, but okay. They teased a fight, and then CMLL announced the switched teams. No one was happy with they were with before, so I guess now it’s the point that they’re not supposed to be getting along. It’s a relevos incredible match, no one’s switching sides (YET).

No one’s said as much to me, but I’m figuring Warrior and Toscano were losing – Warrior’s seemed to grow his hair back just in time for this match, which is always the easiest clue. Lizmark Jr. losing his mask and his hair in short time puts a very negative stigma on him going forward, so you could see where he might balk at dropping his hair. CMLL surely seems to think much more highly of Shocker than Rey, so he makes sense as a loser.

TNA cancels Mexico shows

As announced on their website, the 12/14 Monterrey and the 12/15 Toreo de Cuatro Caminos show; they plan to run events in 2008 instead. Don’t be holding your breath for those. This would appear to be a failure on almost every level, but at least they figured it out 10 days before the shows and can limit the losses.

These were sold shows by TNA, so it’s more the local promoter’s fault (and loss), but you’d think they’d be more careful about their brand.

This is theoretically going to help out Santo’s show, except I think the people who were planning on going to TNA’s show were either hardcore fans of that promotion or those who go to every big show. It’s not going to hurt, at least.
