La Parka Jr. out 3 months, Cibernetico out 4 months

Arturo Rivera, in between talking much about the Teleton, mentions La Parka Jr. will be out three months and Cibernetico will be out four months.

Let’s recap
– Perro Aguayo is out at least two weeks (and, as Superluchas notes, is unlikely to return during the holidays)
– Mistico’s out for at least a month
– La Parka Jr., out
– Cibernetico, out

That’s the top 4 regular working tecnicos draws in Mexico, gone all at the same time for extended abscenes. (Perro’s a rudo, but close enough.) Who does that leave on top? Santo and Latin Lover aren’t working a regular schedule (at least yet.) Wagner and Park are just about to be regulars so I wouldn’t count them either. I guess Mesias may be a tecnico by the end of the week, but he’s not sticking around. Shocker? Konnan? Charly Manson? Chessman? Negro Casas? Octagon? Corelone? Elegido? Dos Jr.? Super Porky? Leono? Maybe not Leono.

This seems to be a bigger problem for AAA, even putting aside the length of absence. CMLL pushes a bunch of guys near the top, which hasn’t helped drawing of late but does allow them to deal with attrition better. AAA’s put everything into Cibernetico and Mesias. They weren’t the only guys pushed, but they were pushed so far and above everyone else that it’s a big drop off from there. La Parka Jr. was the only exception, thought that seemed more to be years of momentum and not anything particular they’ve done with him in the last 18 months.

CMLL will just run trios with the Guerreros and High Society and the high flying tecnicos and the other Perros and the old vets. They’ll draw 5,000 for Friday shows, under 2,000 for the other shows, shrug their shoulders and kill the time till they feel like ramping things up again. Pretty much the same thing they would’ve done with Perro and Mistico, actually.

AAA, I have no idea what they do. We all kinda figured it’d be a Konnan-centric winter into spring with Mesias in Puerto Rico, but he’s got to feud with someone. I guess we’ll just get Cibernetico talking and Charly and Chessman wrestling for him on the TV shows (which also isn’t much different than usual), but I don’t think there’s an easy fix for spot shows.

CMLL updates Mistico and Perro’s status

It’s on their news page

Mistico will be a neck brace for a month after a failed dive, so I would expect him to be out a longer than that when it comes to recovery.

Perro Aguayo Jr. will be out two weeks with a knee injury suffered last Friday.

Both will be making their scheduled shows to apologize for not wrestling.

12/10: Wagner back in Arena Mexico, Merida, Magazines

CMLL (SAT) 12/08 Unidad Deportiva Agustin Millan [El Sol de Toluca]
1) Pink Floy & Silver Boy L Estuendo & Principe Mexiquense and Destroyer & Emperador and Gemelo Fantasma I & Gemelo Fantasma II and Bengala & Damian el Inmortal and Black Demon & Flecha and Monje Loco I & Monje Loco II and King Fly & Mascara de Oro Y Plata [rulete de la muerte, mask]
2) Amapola b Luna Magica [CMLL WOMEN]
3) La Sombra, Sagrado, Valiente DQ Mephisto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Dr. Wagner, Rey Bucanero, Shocker b Atlantis, Averno, Black Warrior

The two losers of the mask tournament, Pink Floy & Silver Boy, are Servando Uriel Marin (Hidalgo, 3 years) and Mario Martinez (5 years in the business.)

Wagner replaced Mistico for this shows (and perhaps some of the others.) That’s the big CMLL development of the weekend – with Mistico out, and Perro perhaps out with a knee injury (see below), Dr. Wagner returns to Arena Mexico this Friday. The top two matches will now be

4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone vs Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Hijo de Lizmark.
5) La Park, Shocker, Negro Casas vs Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila, Terrible
I may have the order flipped; it’s a double main event situation.
(thanks to Alexis)

CMLL (SUN) 12/09 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Kid Tiger b Súper Comando & Zayco
2) Metálico, Tigre Blanco, Tony Rivera b Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Ramstein
3) Dr. X, Loco Max, Skandalo b Leono, Stuka Jr., Super Nova
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Valiente DQ Averno, Olímpico, Trueno
5) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Volador Jr. b Texano Jr., Universo 2000, Villano IV

Tecncio sweep! A sad day for evil.

Universo was possibly supposed to take Toscano’s place in the semifinal, but Perro Jr. was out hurt for this show as well (he may have aggravated a knee injury on Friday), so Universo got bumped up to his spot and Trueno worked as a rudo for one night only. The semifinal ended with Avenro fouling Mascara, and they may be going somewhere with that.

CMLL PYCV (SUN) 12/09 Poliforum Zamna de Merida [YUCACOOL @ el martinete]
1) Chupacabras, Rebelde Punk, Tigre Pardo b Amenaza Roja, Gato Nocturno, Guerrero Galactico
2) Halcon Rojo, Halcon Rojo Jr., Lobo Salvaje b Espartano I, Proverbio, Sombra Azul Jr.
3) Bello Adrian, Johny Reyna, La Chona DQ Coco Colores, Coco Rojo, Coco Verde
4) Fabián el Gitano & Flash b Euforia & Nosferatu
5) Blue Demon Jr. & Rey Bucanero b Dr. Wagner Jr. & Felino

Felino replaced Mistico, and they switched people around a little bit in the main event. I like Felino, but I sure hope they were offering refunds. It wouldn’t be much trouble – looking at those pictures, there weren’t many who showed up anyway.

DELGADO (SUN) 12/09 El Paso, TX
1) Peluchin 1 & Peluchin 2 b Rey Halcon & Tiger Man
2) Bestia I & Bestia II b Nacho Libre & Punisher
3) Magno, Nascar, Vaquero b Galactico, Rey Escorpion, Rey Guerrero
4) Impostor Jr. b Epidemia [mask]
5) El Hijo Del Santo & Incógnito b Cobarde & Cobarde Jr.

Various luchadors, mostly AAA, turned up on TV as part of the Teleton. El Hijo del Santo appeared to donate a mask for auction. Super AAAA, Aero Star, Intocable and someone who’s listed as “Metalico” (that can’t be right, but I can’t figure out who it was) did a Make A Wish sort of thing, and they showed the three way tag match from Toluca, I think. Abismo Negro also appeared on the show.

TheRanger.org writes about lucha libre in San Antonio. Usual intro to lucha libre piece, but $4 tickets sounds awesome.

Magazines:
– Box Y Luchas #2848 has 2 covers – Pentagon Black unmasked and bald Bucanero and Warrior
Super Luchas #242 has Santo victorious and Bucanero and Warrior. Not sure if you can tell on these pictures, but Warrior now has a black tooth with a white star on it. It’s quite something.

Marco Corelone’s website is at http://myspace.com/markjindrak.

12/09: Todos X El Todos, more CMLL TV

CMB (SAT) 12/08 Toreo de Cuatro Caminos [mediotiempo, ESTO, mediotiempo]
1) Pentagoncito & Super Astro 2000 b Espectrito I & Piratita Morgan
2) Lola Gonzalez DQ Xochitl Hamada [UWF WOMEN]
3) Lizmark Sr. & Solar I b Pentagon Black & Super Muneco [torneo, qf, losers advance]
4) Hijo del Cien Caras & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. b Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo [torneo, qf, losers advance]
5) El Fantasma & Mil Mascaras b Dos Caras Sr. & Tinieblas Sr. [torneo, qf, losers advance]
6) Fishman Jr. & Máscara Sagrada b Pentagon Black & Super Muneco [torneo, sf, losers advance]
7) Dos Caras Sr. & Tinieblas Sr. b Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo [torneo, sf, losers advance]
8) Pentagon Black & Super Muneco NC Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo [torneo, final, losers advance]
9) Blue Demon Jr. b El Hijo Del Santo, Pentagon Black [loser advances]
10) El Hijo Del Santo b Pentagon Black [mask]

adding details not mentioned with the previous post:

– the only people who weren’t there as on the final card were the minis! That’s as much an upset as anything.
– no one’s still sure what women’s title was on the line (which speaks to how prestigious it was), but UWF seems the best guess.
– After winning in the semifinal to get out of the tournament, Fishman Jr. announced he’s changing name (and gear) to “Black Fish”
– Not only did Blue Demon pick up a pin on Santo, but he attacked him after the mask win. That’s clearly the headline feud for the new promotion, which we have no more details about.

There appears to be some thought the Super Muenco injury angle was NOT an angle and things were rebooked as a result. Without any more information, I don’t buy it – once you got down to the final four, Pentagon Black is the obvious loser and Santo was already booked to beat him for his mask (in LA, for a show that never happened.) This same commission that “ordered” the change to a triangle match was involved in an angle with IWRG in the Fantasma de la Opera/Black Terry title match just this last week, so it’s not like they’re beyond working with a promotion to get a storyline over.

Ovaciones confirms the Mistico injury story, but offers no new details and doesn’t mention the 3 months abscene. (They also mention there was a rumor Mistico was shot, which isn’t true.) Televisa Deportes also reported on Mistico’s injury, but I haven’t seen it. CMLL hasn’t mentioned Mistico’s injury on their site yet.

(superluchas) CMLL’s Tuesday shows have started airing on Mexico network Cadena Tres. It’s 28 in DF and 128 on cable systems. Pierroth is one of the announcers, which must be interstinng.

to recap CMLL’s current TV picture:
1) Friday is airing on Galavision Mexico
2) one hour of Sunday is on Fox Sports
3) one hour of Sunday (and Friday) is on CAN52
4) highlights of Tuesday are on Azteca
5) matches from Tuesday are on Cadena Tres

Haven’t found a webfeed for cadenatres yet. This does mean all the main CMLL matches are airing somewhere. If you have access to this channel and this show (which airs on Sundays, though I have no idea when), I’d love to hear what’s airing each week and what you think about it.

I posted video of the DeporTV highlights below. It’s a 5 minute segment with

2) Molotov, Starman, Trueno b Calígula, Méssala, Zayco
3) Atomo, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito b Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Damian 666, Pierrothito
5) Lizmark Jr., Mephisto, Sangre Azteca b La Sombra, Valiente, Volador Jr.

I think I told Robert it was 1-3, but that’s because the segunda sure looks like an opener match. I presume this means 4 and 6 aired on the new show.

Accion

CMLL had the hair match finale. The story was Shocker trapped Rey’s leg in a chair and moved just in time for Warrior to tope his own partner. The highlights looked just okay, though Lizmark Jr.’s fierman’s carry spinning powerbomb to finish Bucanero was horrible.

AAA appears to have gone back to the Xalapa taping, as the match which aired here was Elegido/Parka/Octagon/Porky vs Head Hunter/Konnan/Mesias/X-Pac. We see a really bad X-Pac/Elegidio sequence, and it’s not X-Pac’s fault. X-Pac also got to catch a Porky apron dive, so fun day for him. Finish was so horribly great: Hijo de Tirantes watched Konnan and Eleigdo in for the end game, Konnan blatantly fouled Parka, and Hijo de Tirantes belatedly realized he wasn’t supposed to have been looking in that direction. Mesias stole the pin, which caused ISSUES.

Ron Killings mentions on his mySpace that he’s left TNA, so he may be turning up in AAA some more. Mesias is already back in TNA.

a fine day to be a WBC Welterweight champion

Full results are up on superluchas, but to hit in brief

– El Hijo del Santo beat Pentagon Black for his mask. The two were not partners, but the final tag match came down to Santo/Demon vs Pentagon Black/Super Muneco and Demon KOed Muneco on a tope. To me, this would seem like Muneco & Black lost and Pentagon Black gets the easiest mask win ever, but I guess the idea is the local commissioner ruled Muneco unable to continue and changed the final to Demon vs Santo vs Pentagon Black. It’s no surprise how that one turned out, though it’s worth noting they did have Demon pick up a pinfall on Santo in the process. Pentagon Black was revealed to be Joe Mercado Lopez, who’s now lost a mask at least 3 times.

(Chui did call this ending. Santo needs to kickback some money that way.)

– Perhaps of more long term importance, El Hijo del Santo announced he was going to start his own promotion. A lot depends on the support (from money men as well as other wrestlers) he gets from here on out, but the effort did start on a good note – reported attendance for this show was 12,000, 3/4th of the arena. Todos X El Todos and CMLL’s Sin Piedad drew about the same number, but Santo’s show was getting a lot more per ticket.

On a completely different note, there’s a post saying Mistico suffered an injury in Iztapalapa on Saturday and will be out three months. (The thread’s more about informing people Mistico won’t be in Merida on Sunday.) The specific injury is not mentioned, which is very odd for something with such a definite time line for recovery. I’m a bit dubious of this, but it’ll be clear within 24 hours. Like La Parka Jr. and Cibernetico in AAA, it would hurt business to not have Mistico around, but there are worse times of the year for this kind of thing to happen.

12/08: Hair match, Todos X Todos

CMLL (FRI) 12/07 Arena Mexico [ESTO, ]
1) Dark Angel, Luna Magica, Marcela b Amapola, Hiroka, Medussa
2) Ephesto, Mephisto, Virus b Felino, Super Nova, Valiente
3) Dos Caras Jr., La Sombra, Sagrado b Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible
4) Blue Panther, Místico, Negro Casas b Atlantis, Averno, Último Guerrero
5) LA Park DQ el Hijo del Perro Aguayo
6) Lizmark Jr. & Shocker b Black Warrior & Rey Bucanero [hair, ri]

Even though they were relevos incredible teams, they had the partners get along and change tactics for at least one night. Lizmark worked as a tecnico, and Bucanero was a rudo. Warrior dyed his hair orange, which didn’t help him much. Both Ovaciones and ESTO sound disappionted with the match.

Park won by DQ when the Perros ran in to save Perro Jr. (who may have hurt his knee in this match.) Park got destroyed and his mask was ripped off. Negro Casas was Park’s second and got stomped as well.

Mistico won his match in two falls and made the mask match challenge, but Averno says the guy with the belt gets to decide those things.

Todos X Todos

CMB (SAT) 12/08 Toreo de Cuatro Caminos
1) Octagoncito & Voladorcito vs Espectrito I & Pentagoncito
2) Lola Gonzalez vs Xochitl Hamada [UWA? EWWC? WOMEN]
3) Torneo
– Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo
– El Fantasma & Mil Mascaras
– el Hijo Del Anibal & El Hijo del Solitario
– Pentagon Black & Super Muneco
– Dos Caras Sr. & Tinieblas Sr.
– Fishman Jr. & Máscara Sagrada
– Hijo del Cien Caras & Rayo de Jalisco Jr.
– Lizmark & Solar I [toreno, losers advance]
4) ? vs ?? [mask]

They expect more than 16,000 people for this show. MedioTiempo/Notimex sizes up the fieldMy bet is, if they feel good about the turnout, Lizmark loses his mask here. If not, and they don’t think they’ll be following up, it’ll be Pentagon Black. Either way, Santo & Demon will be the other final pair.

Fishman has gone to Ovaciones and to the Mexico State lucha commission to complain about Fishman Jr. being in this match – he still has no right to use this gimmick, according to Fishman. That’s why I don’t think Fishman Jr.’s losing here, it’ll cause issues and won’t be worth anything.

CMLL (TUE) 12/11 Arena Mexico
1) Calígula & Méssala vs Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Starman, Trueno vs Dr. X, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Fabián el Gitano, Metálico, Stuka Jr. vs Ohara, Shigeo Okumura, Skandalo
4) Alex Koslov, Sagrado, Valiente vs Damián 666, Misterioso II, Mr. Águila
5) La Máscara, Marco Corelone, Shocker vs Olímpico, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero

CMLL (FRI) 12/14 Arena Mexico
1) Sensei & Tigre Blanco vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Atomo, Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki vs Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Damian 666, Pierrothito
3) Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas vs Averno, Mephisto, Satánico
4) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Último Guerrero
5) LA Park, Místico, Shocker vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila

Rey’s back on the tecnico side, but if you’re looking for a match where he could start a turn (and the same for Lizmark), that seems about right. We’ll see.

I guess Averno & Mephisto have gotten over hating Satanico?

Minis look to be in CAN52 TV position.

CAN52 lineups will be up later.
