CAN52: Give me minis, or give me death.

AAAUS: Teleton show – undercard guys you don’t see, and a main event that doesn’t actually make much sense.

FSE-US: More Leono vs Mr. Mexicao and the Villanos in the main event. It’s a wonder I’m not rearranging my life to watch to catch up on this show.

———–

CMLL-MEX: Currently scheduled for three hours, but that doesn’t always work out. It may eventually end up top 3, so I wouldn’t hope for that minis match.

AAA-MEX: Guerra de Titanes! Some of it. If this is stretched out over two weeks as has been promised, we’re getting one match per hour. I hope you like filler.

Without any hints, I’m guessing the cage match makes this show, and the heavyweight title match is the main event of part two. The undercard is just a tossup.

FSE-MEX: just a random collection of people. Super Nova’s found his way on to TV as a regular all the sudden. (Holiday break?)

C3: He’s here as well – that Flash/Stuka/Super Nova vs Loco/Nosferatu/Virus match could’ve been pretty fun. I think I’m the only one who’s excited for Sangre/Mascara, but that’s there as well.

site notes

Just some quick notes about things going and not going on, so I figure it all out outside my head.

– 2007 Tapatia awards will open for voting in January. I might as well wait till Guerra de Titanes airs in the US. It looks like the second part will air on 01/19, so I’m thinking voting will be from 01/11 (Friday) to 01/26 (Monday), and then I’ll try to quickly sneak the awards out that week.

I ran last year’s awards in March, but the AAA lag has been fixed a lot since then.

Last year’s ballot had Best Wrestler (6), Best Match (6), Best Tecnico (3), Best Rudo (4), Best Female (5), Best Unit (6), Best Promotion/Territory (3), Best Rivalry (3), Most Improved (3), Most Underutilized (3). Any ideas/changes worth making? Best Mini?

– I don’t think I’m going to do the month by month Year In Review I did last year. I’ve got other stuff I’d like to work on and it took way too much time last year. I’m kinda running into a general mental writing block anyway. Maybe I’ll write something long form on the promotions. I haven’t really thought it out.

– I’ve got at least six recaps done as I write this, they just need a blurb for the main page to get posted. I should be caught up watching by the end of the week, though I’ll probably space them out on the site a bit. I’d love to finish up the missing AAA episodes by the end of the year, but I don’t know if I really have the time for that. I’d like to enjoy my life too, and those things run in conflict.

– I’m redoing some stuff with the TV database index (splitting the Fox Sports lucha into Mexico & US dating to account for the gap there, adding Cadena3, and hopefully fitting in more old Gala stuff, whatever else I can think of), so it’ll eventually not be as out of date as it looks right now.

– the only day I think I’m taking off is New Years Day (and that’s iffy). Unless AztecaAmerica fixes it’s copy protection this week, there won’t be any DeportTv highlights, but everything else should run normal.

As always, if you’re got suggestions or tips, send me an e-mail or leave a comment and I’ll get around to it eventually.

12/19: Mexico, Adolfo Moreno

CMLL

CMLL (TUE) 12/18 Arena Mexico

5) Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V b Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr.

La Mascara got Sangre Azteca with the campana again, and they agreed to a title match. I think I know what La Mascara’s getting for Christmas.

CMLL will return to Arena Coliseo for two shows in January – Sunday the 6th and Tuesday the 8th. This is only a temporary (holidary related) return, and they’ll be back to all shows at Arena Mexico the following week.

Ovaciones has more details on Adolfo Moreno. He passed away at 11:30 on Tuesday, and was 87. They’re cremating him today and they’ll have a tribute to him tomorrow morning at Arena Nauclapan. Tomorrow’s show, where Santo is scheduled, is IWRG’s anniversary show.

Besides hs long wrestling career, Moreno is credited with helping start out many careers, including Vilano III, Pantera, Mr. Niebla, Anibal, Mascara Sagrada (as Hectaomble), Tony Rivera, Octagon (as Amenaza Elegante), Pentagon Black (as the first Dr. Cerebro.) He’s not related to Oriental, Cinthia Moreno and that whole family, as far as I’ve seen.

Noticas-Oaxaca profiles a former local promoter in the city, Humberto Siordia, with some stories about his career. Once, Karloff Lagarde was set to main event in a singles match, but his opponent (name never mentioned) had not turned up. Siordia went to the hotel, got in the wrestler’s room, and found him dead. Siordia went back to the arena and announced to the crowd that the wrestler wouldn’t be there because he passed away. Crowd didn’t buy it much till the moment of silence, and the promoter invited those who didn’t believe to check out the body back at the hotel, after the show.

Leono Rojo (SUN) 10/21 Salon Sol
1) Pegasso & Rey Monarca vs Envidia & Intergalactico
2) Aguila Kit, Astro Negro, Cadete, Suicida Jr. vs Cachorro, Choky, Espontaneo, Siluta edl Carribe
3) Arena Negra, Engima, Furia Negra vs Cachorro Jr., Corsario Jr., Leon Rojo Jr.

2) Brillante I, Piloto Suicida, Sexy Piscis vs Mr. Guerrero, Scriba, Sexy Francis
3) Arkangel de la Muerte, Euforia, Hooligan vs Dorado, Hijo del Soberano, Stuka I
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Stuka Jr. vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Último Guerrero

This isn’t mentioned as a Wagner promotions show in the article, but they had been talking about running an extra show on Christmas in an article earlier this week. It’s not the usual day for AOL shows, but they’re using the CMLL guys who are in town for the holidays.
