11/24: Mexico, lineups (including End of Year show), GdR

Quick Edit: I don’t know why I wrote this morning that the End of Year show is a PPV – they haven’t announced that. It might be, but who knows.

CMLL (FRI) 11/23 Arena Mexico [cmll, ESTO, NotiMex
1) Astro Boy & Starman Super Nova b Calígula & Méssala
2) Amapola, Medussa, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela

4) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Villano IV, Villano V b Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Volador Jr.
5) Averno, Black Warrior, Toscano b Místico, Rey Bucanero, Shocker

Rudos laid out the tecnicos in the main event, including Warrior trapping Shocker’s leg in a chair and kicking it enough that he needed help to the back after the match. Rudos won the second fall by Warrior faking a low blow, and the third by Averno giving Mistico three powerbombs. Averno challenged Mistico to a title match, and it got agreed to this time.

Perro snuck in a low blow on Dos in the semimain. Amapola beat Apache to win the segunda.

CMLL (TUE) 11/27 Arena Mexico
1) Kid Tiger & Sensei vs Pólvora & Vaquero

Title change seems unlikely.

4) Felino, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II

Still unclear if one or two people will be losing their hair. Looks like we’ll be getting a tag team title match some time soon.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring has

  1. Looks like Super Nova replaced Starman in the opener.

I was kinda hoping they showed the Neutron/Virus match on GdR but at least this week, the tercera compensates pretty well for it.

Still, i really don’t have much luck with Neutron making TV. Seems to be the case an awful lot of the time that the pattern changes the same week as my boy Neutron should be scheduled to air. For example, the week when the main show changed from Coliseo segunda + Arena mex top 2 to Arena Mex top 3 had neutron in the Coliseo Segunda. And just a few weeks ago on FSE, for possibly the only time in it’s 2 year run, we miss out on a tercera which just so happened to feature a rare appearance in such an elevated spot for Neutron. It just seems like a neverending hard luck story with Neutron and TV appearances.

In saying that, if todays show does run 2:45hrs and they save the womens segunda for GdR next week, there could always be a very slight chance of getting that match, or even last nights opener. Then again, there’s more chance they’d just air top 4 with last Sundays tercera, and repeat a match on GDR next week.

Tuesday and Sunday cards next week look awesome btw.

  2. The CMLL shows for this week look very refreshing this week. I can give you the main reason why. Nobody with tits is wrestling.:) Well, Skandalo excepted…

Mistico/Averno seems to be heading towards a title change but I have no faith in CMLL beating Mistico clean in Arena Mexico after the Wagner debacle. Mistico should definitely lose this match though but I’d still mark out if he won… as long as it isn’t the same finish as always…

Rest of the Friday show looks good but I am surprised the Dec. 7th main event is relegated to the tercera. Even when they were building weak main events (like Veneno vs Markus) they’d list it as the main event and then put “top 3 matches will be in random order” to at least PRETEND that it’s a main event quality match.

That segunda could be a fun GdR match but Flash is still injured so he won’t be around.

This is the first time ever where the wrestlers in the opener are LEGIT WRESTLERS THAT BELONG IN THE OPENER OFF TV!

Tuesday’s card that we’ll never see also looks good. I’ll take Sombra to win the belt. It’s interesting how they run 6 matches every Tuesday now. Shows must start earlier. Friday shows could be that good if they said screw tradition and started the show earlier than 8:30.

Sunday’s shows looks good. Why are the National Trios champs never allowed to team? Adding Leono vs Mr. Mexico will only hurt this lineup.:( Wonder if they’ll get tercera status or pushed to the semi-main slot.

Pictures from last night are up. Romanos look to be doing a cool double team move but it’s during the announcers open so no Momentos.:(

MY THEORY IS CORRECT! The opener can’t make TV b/c it wasn’t on the big screen. All 4 other matches can b/c they were on the screen. Last week’s segunda with Neutron had no chance b/c it wasn’t on the screen, only the CMLL logo was there during the match.

  3. It’s not 2:45 since soccer starts at 19:00 hours, so they have from 12 to 19 to air cmll, but it seems it will be top 4 from last nights, right now, with 55 minutes in, Triada is making their way to the ring…

  4. FSE had the same show as the previous Friday, I don’t know if they newer episode is going to be aired at a different time.

  5. I know this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond the CMLL bookers’ minds but a cool thing to do would be have Mistico defeat Averno again but via some sort of fluke to set up a rematch at Sin Piedad where Averno goes over since the tecnicos are winning the hair match main event.

It won’t happen since this kinda of thinking (planning 2 matches in advance) is too much for Panico and friends but it’d be cool.

  6. Damn that Tv schedule for teasing us and building up our hopes :(

The B-shows next week will probably now be all Coliseo, and you’ve guessed it, another womens match for the Coliseo segunda.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they do end up adding Mistico/Averno to the big show as a 5 match card is very unusual, and it was hyped in one of the reports. I imagine they qould just throw LA Park and Lizmark in to replace them in the trios match.

  7. Ended being 2:45 after all, a shame since they didn’t allow us to watch an extra 15 minutes of girls dancing… I think maybe they screwed something since there were no pre match skits, so they used the same dance numbers to fill up space.

  8. So apparently AAA aired Saturday on Galavision after all. Those who figured on a new episode this week are surely correct.

  9. Nice crowd on Llaves y Candados. They had footage from last nights ACM show.

This is first time I can remember ACM running Lucha on a Friday. The results were positive, and the promoter should do it again. Just too much competition on Sunday. The promoter reads the lomejor message boards, and seems to be feuding with RFC.

Off topic- I attended an indie show in Sarasota tonight. 225 in attendance. Hector Guerrero, Norman Smiley, and Haku worked. All have ties to the world of Lucha. Smiley is still in great shape. I wish he would work Mexico again.

Kevin Sullivan is ripped with abs. I’m amazed.

  10. Staying off topic for a second; I’m reading Chris Jericho’s book (which is tremendous, by the way). I’ve just finished the chapters based on his time in Mexico, and he spoke VERY HIGHLY of Screamin’ Norman. In fact, I don’t think he actually mentioned his real name more than once. He referred to him throughout those chapters as Black Magic, or just Magic. I’m with you, I’ve always enjoyed him and would love to see him pop up as a regular somewhere.

  11. Well Smiley was in TNA as a jobber. Wasn’t he on AAA as part of the legion for like one week? I wouldn’t mind him in AAA. He’s better than Electrosuck.

  12. The ACM show was from Nov 18, wasn’t it? There were too few pics of it on the page… I forgot about it, but I heard that Mesias and Zorro were feuding.

  13. I only saw the main event on ACM, and it was Ciber/Manson vs. Mesias/Zorro from Friday night. I caught the last few minutes because I was getting back from that horrid indie show in Sarasota which ran four hours.

Crowd was way up as you can see in the pictures. That was nice to see. This promoter in MTY may be onto something moving to a Friday. Someone had to stop running on Sundays, and AAA was losing the battle in MTY. Now if only they would run every 3-4 weeks, they would do better. I just don’t see how AAA can run a market weekly.
