AAA #651, taped 10/07 (2 of 2), aired 11/17 in the US
The lights out match was odd but not for the stip. The Viper beat on the tecnicos, beat on them some more, and then just won. It’s not going anywhere, it was just random. Not that I’m complaining.
I thought a gauntlet would be great for AAA – four minute singles matches is the longest I want to see from most of these guys. It seemed like it was going as fine as could be expected until someone thought it was a fine idea to have a one armed Parka fight with Kenzo for nine minutes. It’s not even as if they needed nine minutes to tell some complex story; they were on the ending submissions but could not end it yet, so they just screwed around for four minutes before repeating the same spots. Once we got to Intocable magically having referee power, this was pretty solidly a waste of my time.
If we could put Scott Hall’s brain in the body of someone who was not shot, you’d have something. The mad scientists of the world have really let us down.

I thought the Gauntlet was pretty good. Sure there were some rough spots in the match(Parka/Kenzo) but just the thought of Porky/X-Pac made this match work.
