10/29: murder, Coliseo, Oaxaca, IWRG

An ex-luchador has been arrested for murder. This story got picked up in a lot of places – this is one. The story goes Jose Florencio Nolasco Morales, who wrestled (in the 80s?) as El Guerrero Rojo and El Silencioso, got into an argument with Rufino Chavez Guerrero after a soccer game in 1988. There was alcohol involved, and the two men fought. According to the article, Florencio killed Chavez with a martiente. I have trouble with that part. Florencio fled Mexico City to Tijuana and then to the US, but had come back to live in his mom’s place two years ago and the police eventually caught up to him.

CMLL (SUN) 10/28 Arena Coliseo [ova]
1) Angel Azteca Jr. & Trueno b Polvora & Zayco
2) Molotov, Neutron, Tony Rivera b Apocalipsis, Arkangel, Dr. X
3) Mr. Mexico, Okumura, Skandalo b Fabian el Gitano, Leono, Stuka Jr.
4) Felino, La Mascara, Sagrado DQ Mephisto, Misterioso II, Samurai Shiro
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corelone, Negro Casas b Atlantis, Black Warrior, Olimpico

Panther and Warrior were teasing mask vs hair match after the main event.

Mephisto fouled Mascara in the semimain. Shiro replaced Sangre Azteca in the match, but ended up being carried out of it due to injury.

Rudos won the tercera in straight falls, so I guess there’s a feud going on there.

Attendence sounds really bad.

CMLL (SUN) 11/04 Arena Coliseo
1) Mascarita Dorada & Pequeno Olimpico vs Fire & Pequeno Warrior
2) Luna Magica, Marcela, Princesa Blanca vs Amapola, Hiroka, Medussa
3) Mascara Purpura, Maximo, Valiente vs Misterioso II, Ohara, Okumura
4) Alex Koslov, Negro Casas, Ultimo Dragon vs Black Warrior, Samurai Shiro, Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Ultimo Guerrero

So Dorada (and Pequeno Warrior) start off TV, and probably stay that way. Way to make the least of a jump.

  1. Naturally the feud is Leono taking Mr. Mexico’s hair. Fuck CMLL.

At least give the guy some important hair matches if you’re gonna try to make something out of a huge nothing piece of shit like Leono. He should have taken Emilio’s hair. Instead he gets Mogur and Loco Max. Big fucking deal.

Another beautiful booking job by Mr. Panico. Perhaps the hair match will get attendance over 1,500. PERHAPS.

  2. ATTENDANCE TO YESTERDAY’S SHOW AT COLISEO WAS INFLUENCED BY THE NIGHT SOCCER GAME AMERICA VS GUADALAJARA, WHICH IS CONDERED THE MOST POPULAR GAME IN MEXICO.

  3. So? America vs Chivas was going on during the Rey de Reyes show earlier this year, and it didn’t affect it at all with a packed Toreo and 8000 turned at the door…

  4. Honestly, why even TRY to come up with excuses as to why the show didn’t draw? Look at the main event. Look at the rest of the card.

WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT A RANDOM TRIOS MATCH WITH BLUE PANTHER AND BLACK WARRIOR FEUDING?

Do you really think more fans would have came to see Marco Corleone and Atlantis wrestle if the soccer match wasn’t taking place?

Now you might have a point if they built a strong main event and still didn’t draw but this was the usual shitty booking putting together the most random show possible. There is no reason even 50 fans should have came b/c nothing on the show mattered at all.

Now they are only going to build to Leono vs Mr. Mexico which will draw shit but let’s blame soccer for that to!

  5. After watching AAA this weekend, I can’t believe what garbage it is. Yeah sure, the Faby/Billy Boy stuff was good episodic television, and I know Laredo Kid can do dives and all that. But AAA is all ladders, chairs, and replays. The guys come off like marks for ECW/FMW/Backyard wrestling. It’s not even entertaining.

The replays are a problem. From 4:50pm until 6:00pm we saw one match-Chessman vs. Mesias.

  6. …….cont’d Mesias looked like an idiot backyard wrestler jumping off the ladder onto a table like that. And Konnan will be the first one to go public when someone dies saying “We need to do something, the boys are dying to young”. Konnan sang the same song when Eddie Guerrero and Benoit died. Then he goes back to Mexico and helps book a group that uses more weapons and high-risk moves then anyone I can think of. It all looks so backyard.

  7. Not to be a Konnan advocate, but most guys book their own shit, you can not blame Konnan for Banderas’ spot, that’s the way he is… he had to come up with something and that was it, and he blew it. Family, MexPow, et al are enamored with that ECW crap, so you can not blame AAA for letting them do it.

  8. Joe Lider did some online interview once saying his dream is to wrestle Necro Butcher at the old ECW Arena one day. Most Mexican wrestlers dream about working against Santo in front of a full crowd at El Toreo. Not Joe Lider. Nope.

  9. What do you mean? How can you not blame the promotion for the moves the guys are doing? Ok, I can understand if a guy(or trio) goes out one week and does something totally unexpected, then the promotion can say they got caught off guard. But it’s now at the point where we all know that some crazy stunt is coming on a regular basis, so it’s clear that AAA approves of everything we’ve seen on tv. If you can’t blame AAA, who can you blame? The promoter is responsible.

  10. There’s a difference between aproving and ordering to do something, AAA let them do that crap, fans are still going in to the shows, so they let it continue, if ladders, chairs, and replays are bringing fans in, would it be wise to change things around? Why hiring more expensive “workrate” guys if those guys are ignored by the fans?
