Park vs Santo match expanded to give all old wrestlers a payday

(superluchas)

It’s a sixteen man tournament on 12/08 loser advance style.
– Hijo del Santo
– Mil Mascaras
– Blue Demon Jr.
– LA Park
– Rayo de Jalisco Jr.
– Canek, if he’s healthy by then, or TBA
– Dos Caras Sr.
– Super Muenco
– Lizmark Sr.
– Mascara Sagrada
– Fishman Jr.
– Angel Blanco Jr.
– Solar I
– Rayman
– Hijo de Solitario
– Hijo de Anibal

Seriously, would they draw any worse if they had just the top 8 guys? the top 4 (or the top 3 and whomever is losing)? Congrats to Hijo de Solitario for getting a pay day, but why? Theoretically, all these guys would/should be banned from CMLL for working on a Santo show and we’ll see if that happens.

In the video, LA Park is all “wait, what happened to the singles match?” He’s supposed to be the rudo, but I don’t see how.

Guys with high chances of losing include Lizmark Sr., Fishman Jr. (who may not hold rights to use that name) and Blue Demon Jr., I guess. Really, you know Santo, Mil, Rayo, Canek and Dos Caras aren’t losing, because they’re either never losing or holding out for a bigger match. I think they wouldn’t waste their time getting 14 other guys if it was just going to be Santo and Park in the end, so he’s safe too. Everyone else is a possibility if the money’s right.

If this had been presented as “Santo’s annivesary show, featuring 16 wrestlers with their masks on the line, and lots of teasing towards Park/Santo”, I might have gotten into it. Getting Santo vs Park direct hype as bait into this switch kills all my interest for this show. Way to promise big and deliver small.

10/18: Puebla, Laguna, Merida

Today’s the 25th Anniversary of Hijo del Santo start in wrestling (under that name), so it’s no coincidence that the press conference for the show involving him and LA Park (and a cast of thousands) is later today. If news from the press conference gets out (read: if superluchas posts something interesting), I’ll update it with it later. The buzz is we’re getting some 8 man Russian roulette tournament. KrisZ mentioned Pentagon Black’s name, and he’d seem like a possible loser – he was supposed to have lost it to Santo in LA on a show that was canceled. We’ll probably go thru the whole Blue Demon identity saga again too.

Medio Tiempo (via NotiMex?) has an interview with Santo right now if you can not wait. Still not a fan of Axxel using Nieto del Santo.

Video of Blue Demon Jr. vs Espectro Jr. is up on YouTube: Part 1 and Part 2. There’s also clips of Mistico taking Misterioso’s hair. (Thanks to chemdude @ elmartiente)
