Mr. Reyes @ box y lucha posted video of the Anniversary cage match.
Yesterday, when I was posting lineups, I did a double check on the ACM lineup for this Sunday. AAA’s been running the building on that day, so it was strange to see a local main event program carried over from the NICE Tuesday show, with no sign of talent being brought in. Turns out it’s no random occurrence and Arena Coliseo Monterrey has stopped running AAA shows (again) (rafasilva @ box y lucha) The local promoter says he was losing money on the shows, and AAA says they’re going to look for another building again. AAA’s appeared to send lesser talent to Monterrey for the last month – I wonder if that was cost cutting to try and make a profit or AAA getting out a bit early.
Is ACM drawing well for the NICE shows? It hasn’t sounded the way of late, and I wonder if it’s more the scotched ground of previously stunt booking which poisoned the audiences now. (And so their solution will be going back to more stunt booking, for sure.)
CMLL (THU) 09/27 Arena Neza [Heri99]
1) Ministro de la Muerte & Super Camaleon b Bacteria & Bufalo
2) Gitano & Mr. Aguilita b Celestial & Mini Olimpico
3) Caligula & Messala b Molotov & Sombra de Plata
4) Astro Boy, Mascara Purpura, Starman b Artillero, Dr. X, Nosferatu
5) Atlantis, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero b Dr. Wagner, La Mascara, Valiente
Gitano continues to get the better of Mini Olimpico. Artillero filled in for Super Comando – fair exchange! – Dr. X replaced Euforia and Valiente instead of Rey Bucanero.
Ovaciones today interviews Stuka Jr., who talks about his career and his aims. He’d like to win a Welterweight title, which means Sangre Azteca (possible) or Averno (impossible! maybe.) There’s also a brief bit with Octagoncito, talking about being one of Pena’s original minis. Mostly, Stuka would like to keep moving up the cards and wouldn’t mind proving himself as a rudo. Stuka Jr. confirms Stuka I is his older brother, not his father.
SuperLuchas explains the confusion over who wants to face El Hijo del Santo for his mask – it’s supposed to be LA Park and that’s clearly the idea you get when you read the article, but it mistakenly included a photo of La Parka Jr. and that’s what caused the problems. It’s the original versus Santo.
An article on Milenio writes about how it felt to be at the CMLL Anniversary show. My favorite part is how he doesn’t mention Lizmark Jr.’s names, because “the loser does not deserve to be remembered.”
Villano IV and Villano V are going to run in the Nike 10K (6.2 miles). This blows my mind, not to least to mention IV’s coming off knee surgery.
MedioTiempo writes about CMLL anniversaries coming up soon: Blue Panther hits 29 years of wrestling on Monday, Damian reaches 25 years on 10/13 and Emilio turns 50 on 10/12. 50 years young, he hasn’t been wrestling for 50 years (yet.) The same site is running a text message contest to win AAA Pena Tribute show tickets, though it’s probably by the time you’re reading this.

Super Amigos is reviewed in the Washington Post. They’re disappointed, feeling the movie has trouble keeping it’s focus. A 2006 documentary on Irma Gonzalez was part of a Mexico City film festival.
Lucha libre wrestlers will be involved in Mexico City four day Dia de Muertos celebration, though the articles don’t specific who or how.
El Diario de Chihhuahua previews the AAA Pena Tribute show. No new info, though they illustrate the article with a random boxing image.
Lucha Times should be up tonight. Another recap is set to post at 4PM CST.
