09/27: Wagner, Lizmark, Reynosa

Bob Barnett quotes newspapers which say Dr. Wagner Jr. is ticked at management and wants out if things don’t change. He may have a case, but going to the press the day before the biggest show of the year is not the most classy of moves.

Ovaciones talks to Lizmark Jr., who vows to go after the injuries of his opponents in the cage match to defeat them. He says this is his sixth cage match.

Super Amigos“, a documentary about the likes of Super Barrio using masks to gain attention for their causes – I wrote a note about this back in May – airs Friday in LA as part of the National Geographic All Roads Film Festival, and next Wednesday in Harrisburg VA, as part of their Latino Film Festival.

Guerreros del Ring #106 has Perro Aguayo Jr. taking a bite out of Mistico’s mask.

In Royal Oak, Michigan, IWR is bringing in LA Park for a show/DVD taping on 10/14. A DVD with highlights from previous shows with lucha types is coming out on 10/02 from Big Vision Entertainment.

4) Eclipse, Ogun, Satanico b Felino, Leono, Mascara Purpura
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Negro Casas DQ Terrible, Villano III, Villano V

Guessing from the CMLL.com pictures again. Leono replaced Maximo, which derails his feud with Ogun for this week. Wagner looked to be suffering from a low blow in the final picture. It’s not clear where it’s from, but V5 would fit.

Approx Air Date

US: 11/03

I can only assume they wanted to put as many gimmick matches as possible on this show to honor Anotnio Pena. And the obviously wanted to get as many people on the card as possible.

They must be trying to amortize the cost of the dome cage by running it so often. Or they’re just doing it to spite me, whatever. (OR! They just don’t want to do any singles main events which aren’t Cibernetico vs Mesias and they’re not doing that for a while.)

The fifth match is a battle royal, with the final two going to pinfall. My wild guess is the mystery guys are names of the past rather than names that are jumping.

There’s 85% chance the mystery guy in the 4th match is Nicho, and a 15% chance it’s someone random (since everyone knows it’ll be Nicho) only for Nicho to come out during the match and join the team anyway. If you care about the Mexican Powers, the Extreme Tiger turn seems even less set up than the Zorro turn. (It hasn’t happened yet, right?)

He’s not really named Mascarita Sagrada 2007, I’m just doing it to separate him from the two ones we already know. I suppose it could be a new one or one of the old ones back in the gimmick – won’t be able to say until he’s on TV, and even that’ll be iffy.

Announced Upcoming Tapings

10/20: Orizaba

Ovaciones has an extended interview with Halloween. He says he needed a change – he felt he wasn’t doing all he could in CMLL and it was time to split. Halloween revealed his new Familia de Tijuana would be Nicho & Extreme Tiger. I was sure Extreme Tiger was going to end up with Halloween, but I think I neglected to write it down.

I wonder who they’ll get when Nicho no-shows.

CMLL.com hasn’t posted Tuesday results, but it has posted Sunday’s. In the women’s trios match, Amapola was disqualified for putting her feet on the ropes for a pin. I know that’s illegal, but I’ve never heard of a DQ for it. In the semimain, Sangre Azteca ended up with a face full of blood after a Corelone high kick.

CMLL (SUN) 09/23 Arena Neza [thegladiatores]
1) Super Tri b Karonte Jr.
2) Freezbe & Nakashima b Miedo & Spider Black
3) Bam Bam, Gitano, Pequeno Olimpico DQ Mini Halloween, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeno Damian 666
4) Angel Azteca Jr., Leono, Maximo b Artillero, Super Comando, Virus
5) Alex Koslov, Shocker, Volador Jr. b Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero

Lots of Gitano’s bloody turn on Mini Olimpico at the link if you didn’t see them yesterday. New crackpot theory: Gitano is the guy about to be Mini Black Warrior, who’s going to beat Mini Olimpico for the title and then drop it to Mascarita Sagrada (over the course of five or more years.) Whomever Gitano is, he’s not around this week yet:

CMLL (THU) 09/27 Arena Neza [Dr_landru]
1) Molotov & Sombra de Plata vs Caligula & Messala
2) Astro Boy, Mascara Purpura, Starman vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Super Comando

4) Freelance, Negro Navarro, Ultraman Jr. b Kai, Sasaki, Yamato
5) Bogeman, Felino, Mistico b Black Warrior, Cerebro Negro, Enfermero Jr.

They’re clearly building a Cerebro Negro/Bogeman feud.

IWRG (THU) 09/20 Arena Naucalpan [thegladiatores
1) Latin Brother b Akumma
2) Golem, Kid Tiger, Samba b Comando Gama, Pandemonium, Puma King

4) Cien Caras Jr., Hijo de Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Cyborg, Nitro, Xibalba
5) Bogeman, Rayman, Sagrado b Black Warrior, Damian 666, Mr. Aguila

Kai (sub Macho II) and Captian Muerte (sub Nitro) both missed the show due to injuries. They seem to be building up trios feuds in those matches so hopefully things won’t get derailed. Warrior snuck in a foul on Ray Man in the main event.

Still no GDL results, but I think it’s safe to assume:

CMLL (TUE) 09/18/2007 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara

We would’ve heard about a title change by now.

4) Alex Koslov, King Star Tiger, Robin Maravilla vs Negro Navarro, Onita Santana, Texano Jr.
5) Blue Panther & Hijo del Perro Aguayo vs Dos Caras Jr. & Hijo de Lizmark [ri]

This would be Panther, Perro and Lizmark’s first match since the cage match. Villano III, Atlantis, Wagner, and UG turn up first in Coliseo on Sunday (as do Perro and Panther, but not Lizmark), and Mistico’s off in Guadalajara for the weekend. Would CMLL have Lizmark Jr. lose his mask on Friday and not appear at any of their shows till next Friday but show up an AULL event?

MedioTiempo talked to Atlanits, Ultimo Guerrero, Lizmark about the cage match – they seem to be going by unit on this, so one with Wagner, Panther and Mistico should turn up later today or tomorrow. Lizmark Jr. mentions he has a right knee ligament injury which would make climbing the cage rough. I don’t think that’s going to be an issue.

Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero also appear in El Siglo de Torreon talking about the match.

Box Y Lucha #2837 has Zorro’s turn and the anniversary show

09/25: Puebla, Minis, Apache, Monterrey

Arturo Rivera’s Ovaciones column says X-Pac also has a sciatic nerve issue, and Gran Apache can not walk right now. Arturo says AAA will be back in Texas in three weeks, this time in Austin. (No building mentioned.)

(link may not work tomorrow, but there just because it’s nice to have a working link to the static page.)

Black Terry Jr. posted photos from Arena Neza. What’s strange is the minis match was Mini Damian, Mini Halloween, Mini Mr. Aguila vs Mini Olimpico, Bam Bam, and Mini Gitano. Mini Gitano appears to be a new guy (and not Mini Halloween), who promptly turned on Mini Olimpico. Confusing.

AAA (SUN) 09/23 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Aguila Extrema & Dranser b Dr. Cianuro & Virutal X
2) Mercurio b Criminal
3) Baby Fox & Tigre Cota b Mascarita Divina & Ramses (Monterrey)
4) Guerrero Negro Jr. & Rey Infernal b Monje Negro Jr. & Sangre Chicana
5) Alan Stone, Ricky Marvin, Zorro b Antifaz, Cuervo, Psicosis II

Zorro turned on Alan, but that team still won.

CMLL (MON) 09/24 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Ares, Espiritu Maligno, Mr. Rafaga b Forajido, King Jaguar, Zigma
2) Legionario, Lestat, Tigre Rojo b Black Terry, Fuerza Chicana, Negro Navarro
3) La Mascara, La Sombra, Maximo b Misterioso II, Texano Jr., Virus
4) Terrible, Villano III, Villano V DQ Atlantis, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. b Hijo de Lizmark [UWA HEAVY]

Down one fall already, Atlantis was left alone with Villano V in the ring and fouled him. Not sure why Olimpico replaced UG.

Lestat, I remember, was an unmasked guy way back in Guapos U, and I’ve noticed hugo’s pictures showing a masked Lestat guy here. I thought they were the same guy – is my memory faulty?

indy (SUN) 09/30 Arena Coliseo Reynosa [LGB @ LMDLL]

3) Elegido, Intocable, Zorro vs Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., Super Calo
4) Fabi Apache & Martha Villalobos vs Mujer Demente & Rossy Moreno
5) Chessman & Cibernetico vs Head Hunter I & Mesias

Medio Tiempo talks to Perro Jr. and Villano V about the cage match. V5 plans to stay in the match as long as Atlantis and Ultimo do, just in case he can beat either of them with the mask. If they leave, he’s out of there.

La Aficion (Milenio) has a generic preview of the anniversary show. At least they spell Blue Panther correct, as opposed to ticketmaster.

If you can’t quite make it to Mexico City but find yourself in Panama on Friday, there’s lucha libre at Fantastic Casino.

The George Eastman House in Rochester, NY has an exhibition called Lucha Libre! Masked Mexican Wrestlers from now till 01/27/08. It’s part of a set of exhibits about male and female appearance.

09/24: New CMLL Minis?, Coliseo, AAA in Ft. Worth

CMLL.com

On CMLL main TV show this weekend, the promotion announced Mascarita Sagrada (presumably the one which was just in AAA and current Mexican Mini champ) and Mini Black Warrior are coming in. I have no records of a Mini Black Warrior, so the easy guess is Mini Halloween’s getting a new gimmick.

Ultimo fouled Perro in the main event. In the womens match, the rudas got DQed when it seemed certain they’d lose.

That’s gonna suck for Mistico. More Brazo’s are going to suck for everyone else.
