09/14: Mexico preview, Warrior added to cage match?

Tonight’s Arena Mexico lineup, two weeks out from the Anniversary show.

CMLL (FRI) 09/14 Arena Mexico
1) Angel Azteca Jr. & Tiger Kid vs Polvora & Vaquero
2) Leono, Stuka Jr., Super Nova vs Euforia, Loco Max, Nosferatu
3) Mascara Purpura, Sagrado, Sombra vs Damian 666, Mr. Aguila, Texano Jr.
4) Heavy Metal, La Mascara, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Black Warrior, Hijo de Lizmark
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Negro Casas vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Villano V

NotiMex preview – Ovaciones has the usual. ESTO focuses on the return of Black Warrior. His team really should win the semimain, seeing as the other team is a collection of guys doing not much. The Perros and the Mexican Trios champs (and friends) are squaring off in far too many matches for that title match not to turn up at some point – maybe the week after the Anniversary show?

Speaking of Black Warrior, Sky Mexico has posted a blurb for the CMLL Anniversary Show PPV on their site. Black Warrior is part of the cage match on their lineup – perhaps he’ll be added tonight? (If Warrior got a vacation, his old spot back, and an anniversary main event pay day, he’s my hero.) Looks like Mascara Purpura is replacing Ultimo Dragon as well. The PPV costs between $18 and $22.50 depending on how you’re getting the show. (Thanks to Nute @ Satanico’s MansionEl Siglo de Torreon and ESTO talk about the Wagner show tonight.

While seeing yesterday’s IWRG poster today (via SPOK619 @ Satanico’s Mansion) isn’t usually helpful, note that BOGE just happens to be a sponsor on the show with Bogeman debuting. This certainly explains why they debuted a new character in the main event.

Atlantis talks to ESTO about being put in their, uh, Hall of Fame? List of Important Sports People Of Our Times? Something like that. He and Ultimo are going to team up and win the cage match, Atlantis explains.

El Sol de Zacatecas talks to Mascarita Sagrada (original) about his career. Mascarita Sagrada AAA is mentioned as working an AAA show tonight (lineup altered from what was announced before) – I wonder if they mean Divina?

Costa Rica is another place where kids are being taught lucha libre as a Stay Of The Streets tactic. This kind of story always amazes me, but I didn’t know they had lucha libre in Costa Rica. It may just mean amateur style here, I guess.

  1. The PPV is 140 dollars in bars/restaurants, which more or less explains why no one wants to buy it. I mean, Friday night, bars are full then, no need to buy PPVs…

  2. Not the most exciting card there’s ever been, but if we can get the Molotov Coliseo segunda along with top 4 from Arena Mex tonight, it should make for a pretty good show tomorrow.
After the shambles of last week, it’s the least they can do!

And as much as i am far from convinced about Purpura, i’d rather have him in there at the anniversary show than the sleepwalking Dragon.

And Black Warrior, well, he has to be in there – he can only improve the cage match. You’d never guess i’m pleased to see him back – He’s great! Now all we need is for Shocker to sort himself out and the CMLL main event picture will be looking a lot healthier again after these dreadful last couple of months.

Looks like we have another Rey/Ultimo title match in GDL on Sunday too!

  3. Yeah, someone’s got it wrong – hopefully CMLL Mexico City, as i’m still waiting on that Ultimo/ReyBuc classic i wanted to see :)

I think i might be psychic or something – Ovaciones today has Shocker returning next week! :D

  4. The Sunday GDL show has both Atlantis/Ultimo listed which can’t be right. Some fans are gonna be ripped off…

The Tuesday 18th show looks OFF THE HOOK though. I want to see that trios tournament.
