CMLL FSE GdR #53

Toscano’s knee meets Atlantis’ head
FSE

CMLL Guerreros del Ring on FSE #53, taped 08/03 and 08/05, aired 09/02 in the US.

Wrestlers react to in-match injuries completely different in Mexico than I’m used to seeing in the US. US wrestlers have no problem giving up the match if someone gets hurt. Luchadors seem to go the complete opposite way – Wagner was more aggressive and more interesting in actually fighting after Atlantis then before (when he was posing and strutting.) It’s not just this match – the last Sunday Arena Coliseo Mexico show, where Famila de Tijuana attacked Maximo multiple times as he was being carried out comes to mind. I’m not sure if it’s just what you’re expected to do to protect the integrity of the match, it just seems very odd to my eyes.

Women’s trios was another good match, but it’d be nice if there was some sort of direction here.

I think I prefer the editing to be done in the first fall, but I prefer they cut out two more minutes of pointless stuff and just show complete matches.

09/07 – 09/09 Lucha Times

FSE (US): Last week’s episode repeats Saturday afternoon, just before AAA on GALA starts. New show is the regular time: another women’s trios and the start of Lizmark vs Dos.

CAN52 (US): The segunda from Arena Mexico aired on the regular show, so I’m thinking the segunda from Coliseo (Sombra de Plata makes TV?) and the Perros vs Tecnicso main event.

AAA (US): Stop me if you’ve heard this before – Hell Brothers vs Sect. Minis gets a tag match and Air Force face Dark Family.

09/05: Sunday Mexico show on 09/16, anniversary lineup tomorrow, Puebla, Juarez, Monterrey, IWRG, comics, Chivas, TNA

CMLL.com has a few announcements

– they’re running another Sunday Arena Mexico show on 09/16. That’d gotta be Purpura vs Emilio. Ovaciones also floats a Stuka/Satanico feud; I don’t know if that’s it, but there surely will be another noteworthy match.

– the full card for the anniversary show will be announced at a press conference. The cage match participants will sign the contract for their match at that time

– groups of people were waiting outside the ticket booth Tuesday morning just to be the first ot buy tickets.

CMLL (MON) 09/03 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Blue Center, Forajido, The Tiger DQ Mr. Rafaga, Siki Osama, Siki Osama Jr.
2) Furia Chicana, Karissma, Toro Bill b Cerebro Negro, Kraken, Maniacop
3) Maximo, Sagrado, Volador Jr. b Eclipse, Efesto, Sangre Azteca
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero b Averno, Lizmark Jr., Mephisto
5) Perro Aguayo Jr. b Ultimo Guerrero

Perro snuck in a low blow on Ultimo. In the opener, rudos got DQed on the “no tossing the guy over the top rope” rule.

AAA (SUN) 09/02 Poliforo Juan Gabriel, Ciudad Juarez
1) Galaxy b Hermes
2) Peluchin I & Peluchin II DQ Guerrero Escarlata & Rey Guerrero
3) La Parkita & Mini Hator DQ Mini Charly Manson & Mini Chessman

5) El Brazo, Magno, Super Clamato b Ari Romero Jr., Cinta de Oro, Zumbido
6) Ari Romero, Hator, Mr. Niebla b El Hijo Del Santo, Mil Mascaras, Tinieblas Jr.

Romero beat Mil in the main event, and challenged him to put up his IWA Heavyweight Championship. Mil said he’s going to Japan for two weeks, and he’ll ask the IWA commission there if he can.

In the 4th match, Rocky Star destroyed El Increible, yanking off a leg. (It’s a prostetic.)

Between the 3rd and 4th matches, they did a Santo mask giveaway with a local TV personality. Hator confronted the TV person for being in the ring and tore up the mask. Ari Romero ran out for the save, but turned on on the TV guy too. This should air on local TV today.

Mini Hator was filling in for Mascarita Divina and turned on Parkita.

This group is planning on running every other week, so they’re back on September 16th running matches off these results

4) Magno, Super Astro, Super Clamato vs ?, Ari Romero Jr., Rocky Star
5) Brazo de Plata & El Brazo vs Hator & Sangre Chicana

Third match is Team Juarez vs Team El Paso. I don’t like El Paso’s chances on Mexican Indepedence day. Main event will be a title match if Mil can get permission.

Ovaciones has an extended interview with Blue Panther about the cage match. He sizes up his competitors and vows to be one of the first out of the cage. He does not plan to retire, should he lose his mask.

You recall the Lucha Libre comic book, already published in Europe and being brought to the US (which, concidentally, ships tommorow?) There’s already a deal to turn it into a movie. Filming would start early next year.

Speaking of remembering things – do you recall Mike Quackenbush’s July interview on Joe Versus the World where he hinted there was some talk with AAA people? Los Chiva Rayadas are working their 09/22 Cibernetico show. That’s perfect. (Thanks to Dr. Keith) Never mind. I didn’t figure on TWO teams of soccer playing goats.

In other crossover news, the latest Figure Four Weekly says the next TNA in Mexico show are scheduled for 12/15 at Toreo de Cuatro Caminos and 12/16 at Arena Monterrey. I presume this is also in SuperLuchas, but I haven’t seen it. Anyway, AAA’s planning on running Guerra de Titanes on 12/16 at Toreo, the very next day, so there are going to be issues. TNA’s talking about using Park, Demon and Santo, but I’ll believe it when it happens.

Box Y Lucha #2834 features the four individual feuds in the cage match (which are more interesting than the cage itself), and the funeral for Karloff Lagarde.

09/16 AAA TV Lineup (Guadalajara – Verano de Escandalo)

Previous: 08/31 (Moroleon), 09/09 (Chihuahua), 09/13 (Dolores, Hidalgo)

AAA TV (SUN) 09/16 Plaza de Toros Nuevo Progress de Guadalajara [El Reforma via Jazzo @ el martinete]
1) Aero Star, Estrellita, Octagoncito, Rey Cometa vs Mini Chessman, Alfa, Fabi Apache, Gran Apache
2) Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Super Calo vs Decnis, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido
3) Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger, Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera vs Antifaz, Histeria, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis II
4) La Parka Jr., Laredo Kid, Latin Lover, Ricky Marvin vs Abismo Negro, Kenzo Suzuki, Ron Killings, Sabu
5) El Mesias vs Chessman or Charly Manson [AAA HEAVY]
6) Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico, Zorro vs Cuervo, Escoria, Espiritu, Ozz [dome cage, hair]

Air Date (approx)
Mexico: 09/30
US: 10/27

Chessman and Charly will meet the taping before to determine the finalist. I don’t think either will be working double – Parka getting subbed in seems like a good bet. Still seems underwhelming.

September 4 Post

Ovaciones is reporting this lineup

* Mesias vs Charly Manson vs Chessman [AAA HEAVY]
* Hell Brothers vs La Secta [dome cage, hair]

When did AAA turn into Blue’s Clues? How many times are they going to do that cage match this year?

Also, the tournament doesn’t make any sense at all. Also, it sucks that Mesias is going to beat up both Charly and Chessman by himself (because Mesias is winning the title), even though they should have a brain and beat him up first. I can’t imagine Charly and Chessman looking like anything but goofs after that match.

ALSO, so I guess the Hell Brothers would be Cibernetico and two guys who aren’t Hell Brothers (Zorro and Parka?).

(I’ll bump this post up whenever we get a full lineup.)
