US: 09/29

As noted in the comments, Angel is back from the Warped Tour (which actually ends this Saturday), and Cibernetico’s the only guy on this card who’s scheduled for Japan later this week. I like my Intocable idea, but looking at AAA booking, it’s more likely someone decided Cibernetico has to continue being on every single week of TV and he’ll just be going out a little later.

They’re going to all have to hurry back to get in another TV after the NOAH show; I wonder if we’ll find out that this is another Friday/Sunday double taping weekend.

No tournament matches. I don’t know about this tournament.

It’s a mystery Guapo in the tercera. Hator has already been suggested, so I have to go off the board. Someone asked this in the comments a while back, but has anyone seen Shocker lately? Seriously, the last match I can confirm Shocker was in was the 06/25 Puebla show. It says something about how far he’s fallen that it’s no note of all.

Opener could be good.

08/19 Arena Coliseo Results

CMLL (SUN) 08/19 Arena Coliseo
1) Bracito de Oro, Celestial, Cosmico b Fire, Pequeno Violencia, Sombrita
2) Caligula, Hooligan, Mr. Mexico b Metalico, Sombra de Plata, Tigre Blanco
3) Mascara Purpura, Mictlan, Starman b Emilio Charles Jr., Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Alex Koslov, Heavy Metal, Volador Jr. b Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II
5) Dos Caras Jr. b Lizmark Jr. [CMLL HEAVY]

Whoever wrote the review of the main event called the breakup of Dos and Lizmark, “the twin towers are done and collapsed“, which…huh. It beats Charly Manson dedicating his swandive headbutt to Chris Benoit, I’m thinking.

Cosmico is a renamed Electrico. In my mind, Electrico changed his name because he was sick of people asking him if he was supposed to be an Electro Shock mini. That would seem to be a horrible fate.

Caligula’s team WON, so there’s absolutely no chance that makes TV.

Starman replaced Leono for unknown reasons. Emilio was cheered for by the crowd for unknown reasons. Emilio fouled Mascara Purpura, and I think the reason there was he wanted to win the match. Good enough reason for me. Let’s all note Emilio and Mascara Purpura are on opposite sides of next week’s tercera, and Emilio’s really grown his hair out.

08/19 AAA TV Results (Salamanca)

Previous: 07/27 (Cd. Madero), 08/03 (Queretaro), 08/16 (Toluca)

AAA TV (SUN) 08/19 Salamanca, Guanajuato [AAA Results Blog
1) Aero Star, Pegasso, Rey Cometa b Ángel Mortal, Gallego, Mr. Cóndor
2) Ayako Hamada & Kenzo Suzuki b Fabi Apache & Gran Apache and Kaoru Ito & Mr. Niebla
3) Alberije, Extreme Tiger, Intocable, Super Fly b Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., Super Calo, Zumbido
4) El Mesias b La Parka Jr. [1st, AAA HEAVY, torneo, GPCW MONSTER]
5) Chessman b Zorro [1st, AAA HEAVY, torneo]
6) Cuervo & Ozz b Charly Manson & Cibernetico

Air Date
Mex: 09/01
US: 09/22

Update: Corrected the 5th match result. So the semifinals are Mesias and all three Hell Brothers. Way to mix it up, AAA.

I’m not totally sure about those results – most definitely the 5th match. Pictures are slowly going up on the site, but the results blurb is already on the sidebar.

The idea seems to be Mesias will win all the extraneous heavyweight championships (instead of ditching them), which will leave Mesias looking very Mistico-like. La Parka Jr. came back off an injury break to drop the title belt of Juvi’s psuedo-promotion. No mention of Zorro/Chessman even happening, but I’m assuming he won so he can also drop his belt (and Charly won for the same reason, though it’s against the rules.)

On the other hand, the title match is not mentioned as being part of the tournament, so who knows.

Mesias helped out in the main event, of course. Far more interesting is the recap mentioning Charly Manson doing a swandive headbutt in tribute to Chris Benoit.

Guapos split continues, with Zumbido siding with Scorpio and those two leaving Calo and Alan bloody. Intocable came back to make the save, which is interesting and distressing at the same time.

Announced Future Tapings
(none)

08/19: Coliseo, Tampico, NOAH, Suspensions

All we have from Sunday so far is the main event.

CMLL (SUN) 08/19 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones]
5) Dos Caras Jr. b Lizmark Jr. [CMLL HEAVY]

Security encouraged people to move down to ringside to make the turnout better on TV, which may be why we have no results. Lizmark Jr. won the first fall with his feet on the ropes, Dos Jr. won the second clean, Lizmark Jr. bumped the ref in the third and tried a pin with feet on the ropes yet again, but the ref was down. Dos snuck in a low blow for the win. This sounds like it will not change our heavyweight rankings.

IWRG (THU) 08/16 Arena Naucalpan
1) Rockero del Diablo b Sambra
2) Macho II & Pandemonium b Tormenta I & Tormenta II
3) Hijo de Pierroth, Septiembre Negro II, Yamato b Kato Kung Lee, Negro Navarro, Ultraman
4) Hijo de Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Hijo de Anibal & Hijo del Solitario [IWRG IC TAG]
5) Atlantis & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. DQ Cien Caras & Villano III
The theme here was people who had lost their mask were allowed to wear them, so you had Cien and Villano III masked in the main event, till they got DQed for excessive beatdown. That was the original Ultraman – he and Kato Kung Lee also wore their masks.

Evolution XXI (SUN) 08/19 Auditorio Municipal de Tampico [El Sol de Tampico]
1) Loco Castillo b Guerrera Negra, Pandillera, King Boy, Pastro Diabolico, Sadico, Arana Maligna, Oro Negro
2) Bronco (EXXI) & Peligro b Tony Rivera & Vangelis [EXXI TAG]
3) Axxel, La Figura, Super Muneco Jr. b Matsaski, Nanauko, Sasaki

CMLL (MON) 08/20 Arena Puebla
1) Forajido, King Jaguar, Super Star vs Espiritu Maligno, Toro Bill, Toro Bill Jr.
2) Centella de Oro, Legionario, Zigma vs Maniacop, Negro Navarro, Skandalo
3) La Mascara, Mascara Purpura, Maximo vs Misterioso II, Texano Jr., Virus
4) Lady Apache vs Hiroka [CMLL WOMEN]
5) Hijo de Lizmark, Perro Aguayo Jr., Terrible vs Olimpico, Toscano, Ultimo Guerrero

SSW (FRI) 08/24 Auditorio de Tijuana
1) Transformer vs Ricochet, La Ola del Terror, Shamu, Angel Negro, Enfermero, Tornado Negro, Tury Gonzalez, TG Power, Randuz, Army, Pitbull
2) El Cobarde, Negro Navarro, Solar I vs Mortiz, Principe Arandu, TJ Boy
3) Volador & Volador Jr. vs El Hijo de Rey Misterio & Rey Misterio Sr.
4) Perro Aguayo Sr. & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Mascara Ano 2000 & Universo 2000

I think Perro and Cien are having some sort of contest to see who can wrestle last.

CMLL (SUN) 08/26 Arena Coliseo
1) Fantasy & Pequeno Olimpico vs Pequeno Damian 666 & Pequeno Halloween
2) Luna Magica, Marcela, Sahori vs Amapola, Medussa, Seductora
3) Leono, Mascara Purpura, Mictlan vs Emilio Charles Jr., Skandalo, Virus
4) Alex Koslov, Felino, Heavy Metal vs Misterioso II, Terrible, Texano Jr.
5) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Volador Jr. vs Olimpico, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero

AAA IN NOAH
08/19: Oriental, Laredo Kid beat Antifaz, Histeria
08/20: Ricky Marvin, Oriental, Laredo Kid b Rocky Romero, Antifaz, Histeria
(so, a CMLL champion is teaming with AAA guys)

Magazines:
Luchas 2000 #382 has Ultimo vs two Dr. Wagner’s, Mesias and tecnicos win their new titles, and Cien in IWRG
Super Luchas #226 features an interview with Rey Mysterio Jr.
It’s not mentioned on the cover, but Super Luchas has an interview with Dr. Cerebro. Cerebro says himself, Suicida, Avisman, both Trauams and referee Reyes Rosas are all suspended from IWRG at the moment for working an authorized show. Cerebro’s not sure how long everyone else is banned, but he’s gone indefinitely. The problem with suspended guys for working unauthorized shows is, if they want to keep making money while they’re suspended, they sorta have to keep wrestling unauthorized shows.
About half the wrestlers in Xalapa are wrestling unlicensed.

Recordnet writes about the lucha show in Stockton, California yesterday. NovoMetro writes about luchadores in Oakland.
