Everything to this point has been going as expected – Konnan’s donor matched up, the operation went normal, it sounded like he was recovering..
Konnan was hospitalized yesterday in Tijuana with problems stemming from the aftermath of his kidney replacement surgery due to issues with his body rejecting the donor kidney. He will be kept for observation until tomorrow at the earliest, but it could be significantly longer if he doesn’t respond well to anti-rejection drugs. There is no way he’ll be making the AAA TV tapings this week that he had actually planned on coming back on.
According to wikipedia, 10 – 25% of kidney transplant patients experience “acute rejection”. Konnan’s system could still accept the organ, but obviously it’s a more complicated situation at this point. Good luck to him.

That’s too bad… I hope he didn’t brought this on himself not resting and trying to be involved in AAA (and screwing it with that backyarders thing)
If Joe Lider was really hardcore, he’d rip out of his own kidney and give it to Konnan.
If Joe Lider is really hardcore, he has no kidneys and survives on Piss and Vinegar.
Um, how does Konnan expect to wrestle Ciber in around 6 months with all these complications going on with his kidney transplant? I thought it was bad enough that he was even thinking of actually wrestling in a ring again after the transplant. Looks like they are gonna have to bring him into the ring with a hospital bed.
NOW I get it!! Konnan made the backyarders sign donor papers and then booked Xtreme Tiger, Lider, Shiryu and the rest…
I was afraid this would happen. The poor guy must have so many health issues in addition to this, it’s no surprise this is happening. It’s so sad, no matter how much we don’t like his booking(and seriously, Joe Lider was in AAA before Konnan got there, and will be there even if Konnan were to leave).
Actually Joe Lider showed up in June ’06, just as Konnan was starting to take on most of the responsibility in AAA.
BTW, I think Ovaciones spoiled the surprise for the AAA TV Taping tonight.
That’s noooooooooooot a good idea… this might lead to a tourney (round robin?) with Gefar, Gronda, Animal, Ciber, Elegido…
Positively thinking: Chessman, Charly (he’s got the national title anyways), Zorro, Banderas, Killings, XPac, Aliens’, Scorpio Jr, Elegido, Ciber, Alebrije…
