Black Warrior has been released from CMLL

This news is originally from Mexician newspaper Diaro Record. It’s been reposted by here (WAGNER_DRIVER @ box y lucha), and also by KrisZ. The newspaper does not have a website.

Box Y Lucha foreshadowed in this week’s magazine, so point for them.

Six no shows are cited – checking my notes, that should be…

06/10 Monclova
06/12 Coliseo DF
06/16 Neza
06/17 Coacalco
06/18 Puebla
06/19 Coliseo DF
06/24 Guadalajara

Which is not 6, but close enough. They did have new lineups with Warrior off the GDL card. It’s really not the number, but the complete disappearing act.

I have no idea if this is a jump to AAA (a confirmed TripleMania card might clarify), or if there’s personal issues going on here. I’m guessing CMLL has not heard from Black Warrior, or has just very much not liked what they’ve heard.

Warrior is a much better position to jump groups since losing his mask. He’d lose his name, but he’d be able to keep his look.

  1. Can we be sure Black Warrior looses his name? I remember him using the gimmick in Promo Azteca, sure, so was Tapia doing with La Parka, so one never knows…

I would have guessed Shocker and Mr Niebla’s name also belonging to CMLL, but they used the names nonetheless.

  2. That’s a good point, especially since the Mr. Niebla name is one CMLL fought for, and yet he was allowed to walk with it. With the recent push to change names for trademark purposes, I’d think they would’ve locked Warrior’s name down among the first batch. (Did he have an action figure? I think so.)

I guess I should’ve phrased that “even if he loses his name, he’s got a non-mask related look that he can take wherever.”

I’m guessing he’s jumped to AAA.

    what is promo azteca?

about the story, i think warrior was great and that a stupid move of CMLL, warrior to AAA?
    =(

  4. There is talk that El Black will take over for Abismo Negro in Los Vipers Revolucion, we’ll wait and see on that one.

  5. Guerrero Negro would be more likely, or Black Warro, or El Black or whatever… now that I think about it, Brazo de Plata gets billed as Super Porky in AAA, some times, Rivera called him Brazo de Plata, “pardon me, Super Porky”, I wonder if guys have sold or rented the rights to their names, how was he called in WWE?

Promo Azteca was a promotion that had the best luchadors ever, anywhere and did nothing with them, to the point that some had never heard about it. (Even in Mexico I bet many guys don’t remember it)

  6. Poor Warrior, I was beginning to think those fans who tried to beat him before had caught up to him again. Yes, he did have an action figure he had it displayed in his living room.

Super Porky was billed as such in AAA and WWE, very seldom have AAA called him Plata. I guess it doesn’t matter that Plata Jr. can use that name in AAA.

  7. I think Warrior comes in as a technico with the Hell Brothers, and then turns on them and joins the Legion claiming he was an informant.

  8. El Black gave an interview to some magazine in Acapulco today and said that all of the rumors of him leaving EMLL isn’t true but he has been “suspended” because his no-shows were misunderstood by Paco Alonso. He also said that there was no truth to the rumors that he would be coming to AAA and that he thought it was pretty funny because his home will always be Arena Mexico.
