06/02: Mexico, IWRG, Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 06/01 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, superluchas]
1) Metalico, Neutron, Stuka Jr. b Arkangel, Loco Max, Nitro
2) Flash, Sombra, Super Nova b Goto, Ohara, Okumura
3) Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V b Atlantis, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca
4) Damian 666, Hijo de Lizmark, Terrible b Dr. Wagner Jr., Marco Corelone, Mistico
5) Mr. Aguila b Sagrado [LdP, sf]

Ovaciones says the main event was the lamest match of the night. Sagrado dominated most, with Aguila taking advantage of mistakes to win. The fans didn’t get to it, because they already saw Mistico. The final of Los Cinco Mangificos is Sunday.

Lizmark got a foul on Dr. Wagner to win his match.

Villanos beat Atlantis’ crew in two falls, and then snatched their masks. Big push.

Segunda was said to be really good.

IWRG (THU) 05/31 Arena Naucalpan [El_mensajero @ El Martiente]
1) Dragon Yuki & Kagrra b Aguila Oriental & Samba
2) Trauma I & Trauma II b Ave Fenix & Halcon Salvaje
3) Kai, Sasaki, Yamato b Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Suicida
4) Astro Boy, Esfinge, Veneno b Black Terry, Fantasma de la Opera, Kraneo
5) Hijo de Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Felino & Pantera [IWRG IC TAG]

Pantera randomly turned on Felino in the main event, fouling him and laying down to be pinned. Doesn’t sound like they’re drawing very much.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 06/05 Arena Coliseo
1) Super Camaleon & Super Tri vs Polvora & Zayco
2) India Sioux, Lady Apache, Princesa Blanca vs Hiroka, La Nazi, Mima Shimoda

4) Leono, Mictlan, Sombra vs Goto, Ohara, Okumura
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Sagrado vs Atlantis, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy

Wow, a mini title defense. If this was a Sunday show, I’d say they were adding a match and that opener was going to get bumped to the dark match.

CMLL (FRI) 06/08 Arena Mexico
1) Fantasy & Tzuki vs Mini Violencia & Pierrothito
2) Felino, Mascara Purpura, Maximo vs Euforia, Misterioso II, Nosferatu

6) Mistico vs Mr. Aguila [LdP, final]

Atlantis is bringing in the big guns to take care of the Villanos. The Leyenda de Plata match may be determined

CMLL (SUN) 06/10 Arena Coliseo

  1. ARENA MEX OPENER – YAAAAAYYY!! :D

I actually had a sneaky feeling it might have aired because the segunda apparently only went around 4-5 minutes, but i wasn’t wanting to say anything and build my hopes up! :)

Flash is gonna have more Tv appearances in his first two weeks back from injury than he had in about the whole year prior to it! He seems to be all over the GDL stuff at the moment as well.

This could be the best GdR episode for many a month.

  2. Imagine Ultimo Guerrero and Atlantis vs. Villanos 4 and 5 in a double mask match. I really wanted to see UG win a major mask, but somehow I see Atlantis winning V5’s mask instead.

Another sorry old soul I see losing his mask is Ultimo Dragon.

  3. “Imagine Ultimo Guerrero and Atlantis vs. Villanos 4 and 5 in a double mask match”

Thats exactly the match i’ve been thinking of and hoping for when i saw the lineups last week. That would be ok for main eventing the big June show (PPV?)

Would be great for Ultimo to take both masks.

Hopefully if/when Ultimo loses the mask, he calls it a day.

  4. That sounds very reasonable. This month of matches is probably a trial balloon to see if they can draw with that feud.

  5. That double mask match sounds too complicated for CMLL to think of. I’m sure they will build it up, balk at offering the Villanos money to lose and go with Negro vs Warrior in a hair match or Negro/Metal vs Damian/Halloween.

THE OPENER AIRED! WOO-HOO! That’s a huge surprise and will turn out to cause me to go nuts speculating if the opener will air in any future weeks.

  6. – Amazing how Brillnate Jr. is an opening match wrestler and Sombra is a semi-main eventer.:)

    – Pequeno Olimpico is retaining!

    – The segunda got such good reviews from last night that I’m sure it won’t make TV.:( (WTF! IT’S AIRING ON TV TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  7. Okay Henrik, I never wanna hear you complain again since the women were scheduled to open up CMLL today and instead you get Flash.:)

The outcry over the segunda airing instead of Los Villanos is going to be insane on all the Mexican message boards.

And now I’m sure the Arena Mexico opener is airing on GdR next week instead of the Villanos.

(Holy shit… let the Sombra mega-push begin! A video package!)

  8. “Okay Henrik, I never wanna hear you complain again since the women were scheduled to open up CMLL today and instead you get Flash.:)”

Haha – and i nearly missed it because i was thinking of tuning in at about 25 past the hour once ‘they’ was finished! Good job i didn’t. First fall was good too.

If that opener airs next week i will be going apeshit! Will be too good to be true though. Normally when we get a pleasant surprise one week, it’s not long in cancelling itself out the next!

  9. The real loser here is Sombra De Plata since he can never be pushed under that name and I doubt CMLL cares about changing his gimmick. They already called ‘Sombra’ – ‘Sombra De Plata’ once during commentary.

  10. I don’t think the opener will air next week since last week was a 4 match card, so in theory, the opener was la seguda, or was it a 5 match show?

Hehe, they give Brillante Jr a new name but he keeps using his old outfit (it actually looks as if he’s using Diamanate Negro’s gear)

  11. Well that was quite the awesome little sprint.

CMLL should open up with matches like that every week!

  12. Make it twice they called him ‘Sombra De Plata’.

Decent enough match. Mostly just dives though but I’ll take it over the women. Brillante Jr. definitely seems like he’ll fit in well as he moves up the cards. I guess he just stole the Gran Alternativa from Valiente.:(

This week was a 5 match show so the only two matches GdR can choose from are the opener or tercera with Los Villanos. Last week they aired the opener over the segunda with the bigger stars so I’m just hoping they do it again and skip the Villanos match. CMLL might not want the Villanos on TV which is why they are always in the ‘dead spot’, hoping the fans will know they have to come live to see them.

  13. Hey, the new SuperLuchas says Fox Sports Espanol is going to be airing the Tuesday Arena Coliseo shows soon.

  14. This show is certainly zooming by with 2 matches done in an hour and 5 minutes compared to the usual main event starting with 15 minutes left in the show.

  15. Not sure. It sounds like it’ll be a different show but who knows…

Great dives in Momentos this week.

    I like the semi-main.

  16. Yeah, anice selection. Last weeks opener which aired on GdR was probably pretty similar to todays TV opener.

Surely when this reality show is finished and CMLL’s still getting the full 2hr slot, they’ll get 4 matches every week! The amount of time wasted on promoting it is unreal. it wasn’t bad in the first hour, but in the 2nd, it’s been as bad as ever. I’m already sick of the song.

How long until it’s all over anyway?

  17. Holy shit that main event was so awkward and awful. And what the hell was that finish? A guy on his first day of wrestling school would know they need to do something else to cover such a badly blown spot. What an embarassment for a main event.

  18. Yep, it was difficult to watch at times. Not good.

The more i think about it, i reckon we could be out of luck with the opener on GdR next week. And it may not even be for the Villanos match. I can see them airing 3 Arena Mex matches on the main show, with GdR getting the usual Coliseo match, but also tomorrows Coliseo segunda.

If last nights opener or the Villanos match does happen to air next week on GdR, we won’t be seeing Valiente/Ramstein/Sombra/Trueno on any show imo.

  19. We knew something was happening when CMLL did that show a month back at Coliseo on Tuesday with angles and cameras. I fully expect them to continue adding tv stations.

  20. Oh shit… I’d really like to watch that undercard match. I guess I’ll do it now that the women are on AAA TV.

I originally wanted to post and mention this: 3 evil clowns, a superhero, the Joker and a caveman just opened up AAA TV with a pretty fun match. This is why I love AAA! Why did Nemesis have to get so good only after he was taken off regular TV? If the new clowns are the ex-Piratas, someone did good telling them to tone down their stupid moves and just be ass-kicking rudos b/c the clowns gimmick is awesome so far. They looked great here.

  21. Oh fuck – Laredo Kid just took a header from the top rope into the ground – and was up within 20 seconds. That’s nuts.

Awesome little spotfest for the opener there, cheers for that Cubs! Nice & spectacular, with some great flying from the tecnicos and imaginative and fun rudo beatdowns. I could get used to that.

What a great week for lucha TV!

  22. SUPER SUPER SUPER FLY!!! What a gorgeous space flying tiger drop! And damn that Laredo Kid header to the floor was sick. I guess the guy just can’t get hurt b/c nobody should be getting up from that! Pretty fun tag match. On one hand I’m pissed these guys will be in a cage match at Triplemania b/c aside from 2 or 3 spots off the cage they will be limited as to what they can do. On the other hand I’m happy for them b/c they’ve had such a great feud up to this point that they deserve the big cage match instead of the usual undercard flying match.

  23. Ya, that tag match was damn nice, especially that move Superfly did. Hope Laredo Kid didn’t suffer a concussion after dropping on his head. Think Superfly will be able to walk when he’s thirty, Rob?
Can’t wait for that cage match
    in Triplemania.

  24. Super Fly ain’t gonna last till he’s 30.:) He reminds me so much of Venum (except Super Fly is more graceful) and Venum lasted from 1994 – 1998 before his body completely broke down. They both have the same traits where they love missing dives. Any wrestler who makes that part of their career usually suffers long-term. I’m hoping Super Fly calms down after his first serious injury but until that happens, I hope he goes all out.:)

  25. The Great Superfly will outlast Laredo Kid. Wait & see! Check out his awesome submission he used as well as his BSFTDE!

btw – is there anyone else who finds that silly pose that Charly Manson does really, really annoying!

You know, the one where he puts his hand in his mouth and mimics playing a violin or something. I dunno what it is about it, it just looks so silly!

  26. Dude, that’s what Marilyn Manson does. He’s playing the gimmick.:) But yes, it’s a bit annoying.

  27. Billy Boy went to a psychiatrist and had his head fixed so now he wants revenge on Fabi and his baby back. AAA is AWESOME! That’s a far cry from the WON report that Billy is going to go demented and form a trio with Charly Manson.
