CMLL FSE GdR #39

aired 05/06, taped 04/29

The main event trios title match was never going to be much – the point was to reaffirm Texano’s turn (my guess is they didn’t want to start a turn on Kid’s Day, but I guess finishing it was fine) – but it was done as soon as Maximo got hurt. Didn’t do a thing for the titles and they’re dead in value in the moment, but at least Halloween/Damian/Aguila is a natural trio which may do something with them.

Averno dipping his toe in tecnico water and finding he really enjoyed it (for a day) was pretty amusing, but I can leave the rest. So glad Heavy Metal no-showed.

Feel free to use this thread to talk about CMLL, whatever happened last night at Arena Mexico, or whatever else.

  1. And Sagrado made it to the last 3! :D

I’m glad it was a Cibernetico. It might have actually been quite goodespecially since it was given 45 minutes.

But for TV, i can’t see them just airing the Cibernetico and the womens match from last Sunday in 2hrs – The Cibernetico will inevitably be slightly clipped anyway and i would guess they wiould squeeze in the Casas Brothers match. Not too exciting in itself, but if that happens, we may then have a real chance of the opener airing next week on GdR. Granted, it was full of segunda & tercera level guys but it would still be cool to see anyway – especially to see rudo Virus and Brillante. :)

  2. No comments about next week’s cards yet? Let me be the first then as CMLL TV begins…

    Arena Mex:
    – Wagner/Atlantis again = BLEH! I just hope they don’t do the same thing as 2005 and setup a title match the following week as well. These guys work the most boring matches together, always with a cheap finish.

    – Torneo looks like it’ll be really fun if not horribly clipped.

    – It’s great that the shit (women + HORRIBLE tercera) is stuck so low that it has no chance of making regular TV! We need more of this.

    Tuesday Coliseo:

    – Not much is special here. Virus/Texano Jr. as a rudo pair has sorta revitalized the mid-card matches. It’ll be interesting to see Virus especially get back to old form and carry a ton of tecnicos who suck otherwise. I think he can even make La Mascara look interesting!

    – Jeque is still wrestling!

    Sunday Coliseo:

    – Ugh… boring Japanese guys are still gonna be around.:(

    – The semi-final looks ATROCIOUS. Poor whichever show gets it.

    – THE TERCERA MAKES UP FOR IT! Brillante Jr. vs Soberano on TV for sure! Probably FSE which is great for Chui! It’ll be great to see 2 new guys who have chemistry together probably trying new things. Not to mention Purpura is back and opposite VIRUS!

    – Segunda should make TV in 2 weeks since they’re back to airing the Coliseo segunda today. Any Hooligan works for me! His partners are on the boring side but what can you do?

Looks like CMLL TV today will have:

    – Coliseo segunda w/ women.
    – Arena Mex segunda.
    – Gran Prix clipped to hell.

This leaves open the possibility the Arena Mex opener makes TV somewhere??? It isn’t totally out the question since they really have nothing else to choose from now unless they become total assholes and repeat a match or go back a few weeks and show some crap.:)

  3. Wow, they squeezed in 4 clips of the opener in Momentos but unfortunately they had the last 2 in slo-mo.:( Astro Boy busts out the old Psicosis dive unless I saw it wrong!

  4. That was 6 guys who have no pride in their work and just showed up for a payday. End of story.

The Torneo better be amazing or I’d assume the fans were pissed since it was a 1 match show barring the few thousand that showed up for the opener.

    (Ovaciones/O’Campo note attendance was down.)

  5. As expected – edited right from the opening exchange to Pierroth’s eliminations. 12 minutes cut if O’Campo is correct.

  6. Maybe not a bad thing it was cut – that was a really boring torneo.

About the only neat part was the temporary Guerreros reunion.

  7. I’m glad you beat me to it as I didn’t want to be the first to say it was pretty bad. “Muy lenta” would be a good description.

These are the types of Torneos that would be better done in 20-25 minutes at most while the Reyes Del Aire Torneo is the type that deserves 30-40 minutes since it involves guys that can carry the workload.

On the bright side I thought Lyger and Ultimo stepped up their performances. Minoru Suzuki and Goto were absolute jokes.

  8. Ultimo Guerrero pinned Liger in the final two. The Rey Bucanero-Ultimo Guerrero double team and posing was my highlight of the match as well.

It makes me wish CMLL would admit they made a mistake with the break up and feud by doing a reunion. As a wise man told me, “Wish in one hand, spit in the other and see which one fills up first”.

  9. Sorry, I’m so used to replying to a results thread for TV comments.

    Ultimo Guerrero went over Lyger.

So how did they setup a Wagner/Atlantis match based on them never locking up once in the Torneo?

  10. Is this an online feed that you guys are watching CMLL on? Or are some of you fortunate to have it on television?

    “”””””””””””””””””””””””””””

I have it on television :)

They aired 35 minutes of the torneo, which means that 10 minutes were cut off, so I’m guessing it went uncut from the time Pierroth was in to the ending…

At times, looked as if Ultimo tag Rey in and then Bucky would tag Ultimo in… Dos Caras did NOTHING at all!!! Only high spot out of the ring was Wagner that had Lyger stepping out of the way! Oh well…

  12. Wow, the AAA TV show today is taking place in such a beautiful location.

Has Mascarita done any sort of headscissors dive since his injury?:/

  13. I don’t think he has, but they said he’s still injured and working without using an arm…

Funny thing is that Mistico is injured and still doing spots in the shows… mainly headscissors and superkicks…

  14. It’s probably La Mistica that hurts his arm so badly.

Holy shit – La Fuerza Aerea including Aero Star have the best matching outfits ever! This better be a total spotfest.

  15. HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That match was beyond a spotfest! So fucking amazing! Chui – I need to see that in better quality if you get a chance!!!

So many unreal spots… my favorite might have been Aero Star tope suicida onto 2 guys who throw him back through the ropes like watching a tope on rewind and right into a wheelbarrow slam!

Barrio Boys as rudos is amazing and Super Calo still seems to have a deathwish.

Only thing I missed is what the hell was Super Fly’s last dive of the match?

TEN BILLION STARS! I hope the rematch they are taped yesterday has these same guys.

  16. I would say that SuperFly stepped into Apache, leapt to the top rop and hit a moonsault, but was missed and I don’t think they got it on replays either.

  17. Oh man… I gotta see it in better quality to know what he was trying.

The dives were insane enough to make the match ten billion stars but I thought the armdrags and headscissors everyone was doing were out of this world and made the match so much better.

I also couldn’t tell but did Super Calo dropkick Laredo Kid while he was sitting on the top rope and then go flying to the outside as he did it???

BTW, for those that say Televisa doesn’t keep archives of their tapes – they just showed a clip from the first ever AAA TV show that supposedly didn’t even exist on video tape (or so we thought).

  18. Looks like Ozz is doing a better job using the Canadian Destroyer…or maybe cause he was doing it on Juvi.
That atomicos match was actually decent. I thought it would be a trainwreck. Or was that the one last week?

  19. Someone’s got to post that Guapito skit from the AAA US show. That was great.

  20. We knew Televisa had the first episode of AAA back when Dr. Alfonso Morales started working AAA in the fall. He was introduced using footage and commentary from that show. Getting the scumbags at Televisa to do something productive with their footage would be impossible-even if it makes sense. Televisa would rather flood Galavision with per-inquiry ads for DVD’s for comedians than do something with their library.

  21. By all accounts AAA is punking EMLL.

I noticed lately that no one has jumped from EMLL to AAA and vice versa.
