AAA Recap - 12/23/06

This is the big telethon show, so we see people giving to the teleton outside before the show.

Interview: Angel Mortal and Mr. Condor promise to teach the youngsters a thing or two. They're the best trio in all the land.

Match 1: Hombre sin Miedo, Nemesis AAA, Pegasso (c) vs Angel Mortal (c), Policeman, Toxico
Lienzo Charro, Cuernavaca, Morelos, 11/18/06

Winner: Tecnicos (Hombre Sin Miedo somersault senton Angel Mortal)
Match Time: 8:58
Notes: And Mr. Condor is not actually wrestling in this match because - he's hurt? I'm not sure, because he's standing in the ring with his gear with the other three guys and not looking hurt. Hombre Sin Miedo is wearing blue (though he does have the Daredevil horns) and looks to weigh 80 pounds. If you weight 80 pounds, wear a shirt. Its someone job to stand behind the announcers and hold up the teleton sign when they're talking. That's a lousy job. Copetes is the ref.

Typical opening match. Mr. Condor interfered slightly, so my guess was someone didn't show and this was supposed to be an atomicos, but I dunno. Toxico is lesser than Policeman, Policeman's bad at catching dives, and Hombre Sin Miedo is easily two or three years from being ready to be on TV, but he's got a willingness to flip, so he's here. He even gets the pin of a top rope somersault senton, despite Copetes slow counting and HSM almost slipping off the top rope just standing there.

Interview: soft piano music plays underneath Jesus talking with Fabi Apache and Billy Boy about their stolen child. Fabi wears a hat in her own house? Billy Boy doesn't want to talk and doesn't want Fabi talking it seems.

Footage: Gran Apache and Billy Boy Jr. walking around an outdoor market. The kid seems to be having fun - so does his granddad, actually.  I guess this is supposed to be a spy cam. Hey, Mickey Mouse balloon.

Interview: So Jesus is trying to point out that the kid is doing fine, and Billy Boy wants to throw him out of the house for being a moron. Billy and Fabi have an argument and Billy walks out - hey, Gran Apache's plan is working! Now he just needs Brandon to get Fabi on the rebound.

Match 2: Rey Cometa & Super Fly vs Alliens & Gran Apache in a AAA Tag Team 1st Round Match
Lienzo Charro, Cuernavaca, Morelos, 11/18/06

Winner: Rey Cometa & Super Fly
Match Time: 6:53 (Super Fly grounded crucifix Gran Apache)
Notes: Super Fly is wearing camo because, you know, air force. No one told Rey Cometa about it, apparently. Why isn't Alliens teaming up with a fellow alien? Maybe the commute is too long for them to make it to every taping. Arturo forgets how many falls there are in this match. He seems to do that once a show. Ref is Tirantes. First dive is 30 seconds in, as if you expect any less, and Cometa lands head first on the floor because Apache is too far back. He gets check on by doctors, which leaves Super Fly out numbered, though Tirantes yells at the rudos when they try to cheat. It looks like Rey Cometa is climbing out, but he ends up coming back in and getting beat down . Rudos control doing tag moves (with Apache visibly calling everything - team has no history but Apache knows what to do) for a while, before it evens out to one one one battles, switching to break up hold and on dives. Rey Cometa does a spinning headscissors to the floor and a tornillo. Apache lands the top rope somersault senton early in the match but misses it later, and this leads to Super Fly getting a crucifix pin on him for the fall. Air Force have had better matches.

Vignette: Brazo, Alebrije, and Cuije talk about the next match. They're going to win the tag titles.

Match 3: Alebrije & El Brazo vs May Flowers, Pimpinela Escarlata in a AAA Tag Team 1st Round Match
Lienzo Charro, Cuernavaca, Morelos, 11/18/06

Winner: Alebrije & El Brazo (Brazo second rope splash on both)
Match Time: 3:22
Other Match Notes: Brazo's dressed up like El Elegido. I don't need to see Brazo dance. Ref is Pepe Casas. Comedy match, exactly as you'd expect. Alebrije about kills May with a tope to start the dive train. Really short - I wonder if these tag team title matches are going to be used to insert the idea of shorter, US TV type matches? This felt like one (and it's good thing here only because I wasn't interested)

Noti AAA
- Someone related to Scorpiot Jr. passed away
- The Mexipowers. They're still there.
- Marafuji (pictured with belt) and Ishimori are coming to Mexico
- Chessman got into a fight on a talk show. Not with Abismo Negro, who apparently showed up in gear, but some guy I never quite see because Cibernetico's all over him
- Estrellita has a black eye, which is probably related. Esterllita has sunglasses on, and occasionally lifts them up to point at her eye and say it's not a big deal. Right.

Interview:
- Each of the Mexican Powers tells us they're going to win the titles today, and challenges one of the Sect. It's Crazy vs Cuevo, Psicosis vs Escoria, Joe Lider vs Chessman (Joe Lider would die) and I guess Juvi never showed to challenge Ozz.

Match 4: Chessman (c), Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Juventued Guerrera (c), Psicosis II in a Mexican Atomicos Champioship Match
Lienzo Charro, Cuernavaca, Morelos, 11/18/06

Winner: Mexican Powers
Match Time: 9:11
Other Match Notes: In fact, those three make it to the ring, and there's still no Juvi. And then he comes running in from off screen. While all his partners are wearing their green jerseys, Juvi makes sure to ditch his ASAP and is otherwise wearing red, so he completely stands out. Scoria is wearing a tie over his black tanktop, which is great. Business casual. Espiritu accompanies Dark Family with a chair. Everyone's a bit confused about this. And then wacky music plays. Wacky Chessman music, apparently, because he enters with his own belt and a HB shirt. Espiritu has taken a set in the ring - that's why he brought a chair. I think they're trying to sub him in the match instead of Chessman, who protests this on the microphone. Chessman gets a Cibernetico chant going, rips Konnan and Muerte, calls the Sect punks - and he's leaving? Well, he doesn't get far because Muerte's music plays (which is confusing because it's the opening of Thriller and Cibernetico's music) and Muerte Cibernetica and Konnan cut off Chessman at the entranceway. Chessman's surrounded by the Sect members. Muerte reminds Chessman that he's the leader - the fans differ - and tells Chessman that it doesn't matter if he likes it or not, he's going back in the ring and defending the title. And then he slaps Chessman. Chessman is dragged back to the ring by his partners. He should so totally get himself DQed here. I guess he's trying to avoid the beatdown. Someone representing the commission says something, but Chessman's too busy rallying the troops for a chant. Chessman won't stand in the picture for the title match. One fall? That's odd. Not complaining. How does Chessman end up captain here? Now Juvi's got his jersey back on. He's a weird dude.

Chessman wants a handshake, the rest of his team punk out the MPs, and we're off from there. The rest of the tem refuses to work with Chessman, as usual. Espiritu took his chair outside and is watching from there. Cray gets slid his way, so Espiritu wastes no time in hitting him with a chair. Chessman even gets pulled off a possible pin by his teammates, after he hits a nice looking spear. Espiritu actually tries to play innocent on his cheating - he'd get DQed for that? Oh, it's just Crazy Boy threatening to hit him. Copetes is your ref, by the way. Match turns at about the 5 minutes, when Escoria is climbing the ropes, and Chessman is whipped into him, crotching him. Dives break out from there - the best kind, where people get up right after being hit by one, and then wander around in the back ground while other people do their spots. I'm pretty sure Escoria was trying to see how fast he could do that. Crazy man tries to do a ludicrous combo move on Ozz, and it goes as you'd expect. Someone may have been pinned while we were watching replays, but wasn't very clear. Half the crew goes brawling in the crowd, so the camera sticks with the four guys in the ring who are doing nothing, while the crowd behind them is turned to watch the fight in the crowd. GOOD WORK. This is all a setup so Crazy Boy can moonsault off something high. Immediately, the fight in the ring springs back to life, with Chessman accident superkicking a partner where aiming for Juvi. He gets double dropkicked out of the ring by Psicosis and Juvi, and they take out two more set members to set up dives. Juvi's pescado is sidestepped, so he's out of it for a bit. Chessman and Joe Lider back, Lider gets held running the ropes, and Chessman spears him. Chessman covers, but he and Escoria have an argument over who should get the pin, so no one does. They agree for a team move with a chair, which ends up with Cuervo hitting Chessman with the chair completely on purpose. Lider covers, and that's it. Mexican Powers and fans celebrate, Chessman punches Escoria down, and immediately gets beat up by the rest of the Sect. The Mexican Powers could care less, which is a bit rude. Charly Manson clears the ring instead with a chair.

Vignette: Scorpio Jr. and the Stone Brothers play pool with some ladies. Somehow this turns into an argument about whether Alan will lose his hair or not. He does lose the ladies, who go off with the other two. Now they're playing racquetball? Now Alan wants to play? And they ditch him again. Take the message dude. Alan interrupts the two couples again when they're about to take a midnight swim, so they throw him in the pool and sic a much larger woman on him.

Match 5: Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido vs Brazo de Plata, Brazo de Plata Jr., Elegido, Intocable
Lienzo Charro, Cuernavaca, Morelos, 11/18/06

Winner: Rudos (Alan chair shot Intocable)
Match Time: 17:12
Other Match Notes: Brazo de Plata Jr. is wearing an all silver outfit, but strips down to his normal gear. For some reason, the Guapos gets introduced next. They just come out in a random order. Intocable's last, so he can dance his way all the way to the ring with backup dances. Alan Stone eventually puts a stop to that, and Scorpio Jr. goes after the backup guys! Ha! This is another match along the same lines of all the other matches between these sides. Intocable gets busted open, which surprises me. Elegido is resting on the barricade for a moment, and a female fan pulls him backwards into a kiss. AAA fans are weird. Tecnicos finally turns the tables at the 7:30 mark - one too many corner whips. Not that I'd expect much in this format, but Chris Stone is just a guy in this match. He's a professional guy, but his new blond hair cut doesn't make him stand out in the ring any more than he used to. A doctor checks in on Intocable at one point, but of course he's not going way. Zumbido and Elegido take turns pulling each other's trunks. Intocable did get the blood wiped out and the bleed to subside, because his face looks a lot cleaner ash he fights with Alan later on. This doesn't seem to be one of Intocable's better in ring days. Zumbido takes a backdrop to the floor, and then gets bowled over by an Elegido slingshot tope con giro. Chris Stone has one taunt move he keeps doing over and over, and a moonsault to the floor. Plata Jr. adds a tope. Scorpio teases doing something flippy and gets belly bumped out by Porky. Porky teases a tope - and actually did it, though the whole pile moved right next to the apron to make sure he'd make it. Alan and Intocable mix it up, as Tirantes looks over to check on the pile outside, and Alan gives Intocable a chair shot. Step over Indian facelock does it. Somehow, we've gone to wrestlers being concerted about being DQed for chairshots, because the Atomicos match wasn't as 'extreme' as usual, and they did a ref distraction here to explain it.

Alan wants to make a post match challenge, but the fans won't stop taunting him. It ends up being the four way hair match.

Vignette: Cibernetico falls asleep, dreaming about this past year - leading the Sect, introducing Muerte Cibernetica, Muerte Cibernetica turning the group out on him, his ankle injury, Estrellita's black eyes, Muerte talking trash, and Estrellita almost kissing Muerte - both of the last two where his imagination, but when Estrellita wakes him up, they argue. Don't be kissing people in his dreams.

Match 6: Head Hunter I, Konnan, Muerte Cibernetica vs La Parka Jr., Mascara Divina, Octagon
Lienzo Charro, Cuernavaca, Morelos, 11/18/06

Winner: Rudos (Head Hunter splash La Parka Jr.)
Match Time: 6:31
Other Match Notes: The guy with Konnan is listed as "Head Hunters". I bet Konnan wishes two showed up, so he wouldn't have to wrestle here. He's making a very slow pained walk to the ring, and is in his LAX outfit (though no LAX logos or anything - he just didn't change into gear.) Muerte's out with the rest of the Sect. Zorro gets an entrance, despite not actually being in the match. La Parka Jr. wears a Teleton t-shirt. The Sect stuck in to help beat up the tecnicos before the match started, and then help form the outside. Konnan just directs traffic, and does any punching that doesn't require bending over. Zorro disappears on me somewhere, but it doesn't much matter, 7 on 4 is a lot like 7 on 3. Tirantes and Pepe Casas are the refs. Comeback happens when Parka sidesteps a Muerte dive, throws him out, and topes him. Divina gets in a ringpost tope con giro dive, Konnan takes shots from Octagon and leans back in to the ropes, but the Sect hits the ring to stop that. Refs aren't calling for a DQ, so I guess Konnan is smart to bluntly low blow Parka. Muerte kicks him down, Konnan actually goes to his knees to cover! One two NO he pulled him up. Head Hunter I adds something, but we don't actually see it because we're watching a replay of the low blow - probably a running splash. That's enough for the pin. The beatdown goes on just as if there was no pin - it takes the music guy a moment to figure out it's over, and it takes a while for Muerte's arm to get raised.

Muerte talks trash. Since Antonio Pena isn't here, Muerte Cibernetica proclaims himself leader of AAA. The AAA music plays, and our new stand in for Antonio Pena, who's name isn't even listed, says Muerte's not in charge, he is. Konnan asks "you and what army", and there's Cibernetico's music. Crowd goes nuts. Cibernetico's wearing a big brace on his left leg and having issues with the stairs, so he's gotta still be far from 100%. The Sect start to go after him, but Chessman and Charly Manson. They all have the HB shirts. The Sect are scared off, Cibernetico announces the formation of the Hellbrothers, and shakes the new president's hand. The tecnicos stand and watch and La Parka Jr. in particular seems to not like this whole thing.

Dr. Morales and Arturo Rivera say their goodbyes, and that's it.
