CMLL GDR - 10/21/06 (#48)
Recapped: 11/04/06
Ellos Usaron Mascara: Brazo de Platino Jr., who turns out to be Maximo. Brazo de Plata has two wrestling kids, Brazo de Platino has none, so that's how ended up with that name. He wanted to have his own identity, so the change.
Interview with the rudas: Princesa Sujei looks very sinister while chewing her gum. Hiroka seems very unconfident about understanding what's being said and speaking in Spanish - she confusedly gives a one word answer to a question and cracks up, so it's all fun. Magadan wisely moves on to talking to the others. This is Lady Apache's first match bald, and she chases Hiroka around the ring before the match starts.
Interview with the tecnicas: well, Princesa Blanca is MIA for this. Lady Apache is very set on getting revenge on Hiroka.
Match 1: Hiroka (c), Princesa Sujei, Rosa Negra vs
Dark Angel (c), Lady Apache, Princesa Blanca
Arena Coliseo, 10/15/06
Winner: Tecnicas (Lady Apache rolling tapatia Hiroka)
Match Time: 7:09
Approx Rating: Okay.
Other Match Notes: Hiroka attacks Lady Apache after introductions, and
tosses her out of the ring. It doesn't turn into a beatdown, with everyone else
just watching, and then a normal match picking up with Rosa Negra and Princesa
Blanca. Why does it say "JBJXS" on the back of Blanca's outfit?
Blanca/Negra is just okay. Sujei/Sarah have the a long dueling armdrag contest,
combining for 7 in about 20 seconds, before Sujei sneaks in a hiptoss. Dark
Angel springboard dropkicks her rival out. Crowd is behind Lady Apache before
she comes into to face Hiroka. Lady Apache destroys Hiroka for the 15 seconds
they get before the other rudas attack, and the beatdown is own. Camel
clutch/missile dropkick for Blanca. Dark Angel next, and they cut from the match
right when Lady Apache is being set up for a whip.
Interview: Tigre Metalico? He's not on this show, how odd. Magadan tries to talk him into going rudo, but Metalico's not having it.
Back in the match, the corner whip actually works, Rosa and Sujei actually landing their clotheslines. Hiroka waits to get whipped in, and that turns out to be a big mistake. Comeback includes some fine stuff, and a really bad boosted dropkick spot with Apache and Blanca. Dark Angel and Blanca both do dives, leaving Apache and Hiroka back in the ring. Hiroka escapes a tilt-a-whirl and lands a wheel kick (helped by Apache standing and waiting for it. Hiroka taunts Lady Apache and misses a clothesline, Apache dropkicks her in a knee and puts her in a tapatia - a rolling one. After going up three times, Hiroka quits.
Match 2: Damian 666, Halloween (c), Mr. Aguila vs
Felino, La Mascara (c), Maximo
Arena Mexico, 10/13/06
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:43
Approx Rating: Okay. More establishing FdT as a better than random
team.
Other Match Notes: La Mascara has his belt. Mascara's the least over guy
on his team. Halloween handles the introductions for his team. Well, Damián
does Halloween: "Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please! From Tijuana
Mexico" and then he stops speaking English, how sad. Rudos jump the
tecnicos after introductions, of course. It's quite the contrasting color schemes
- FdT is all black (except for Halloween's face), and the tecnicos are all
wearing bright colors, especially Maximo's fuchsia.
1: All FdT teamwork early, including a quadruple legdrop. Aguila gets in a running slingshot plancha on Maximo, which actually allows Mascara and Felino briefly take control of the ring. They're run into each other and given sandwich clotheslines by both FdT guys, before being tied up on a intertwined double submission which doesn't come off looking quite right.
2: Beatdown continues, with Maximo taken care of first with a flying kick. Mascara tries to come in the ring and look tough, before he's beatdown. He does manage to get a tackle in, which is cool, , but then he's also adjusting his mask while he's whipped, which is not cool. Felino's turn - he misses a surprise attack on Halloween and gets thrown around the ring. Maximo comes in to help him out on a corner whip, setting Felino on the top rope and knocking back Halloween and Aguila with kicks and elbows. Aguila charges, Maximo freaks out, Felino lifts up his legs, and Halloween ends up spearing the post. (Why?) With him out of action, Felino planchas the other two, they caught him and toss him behind, he ducks a clothesline, and Mascara's a beat late with his boosted dropkick. Everyone dives in different corners around the same time, so we see some of all and all of none. Felino's double springboard tope con giro looked good, Maximo's middle rope flying butt bump looked not so good. It'd be good to have replays while everyone's recovering, but no. Maximo, Felino, Damian and Halloween end up in the ring, and Maximo and Felino lock on something that's kinda in the family of the Rowing The Boat multiple submission, but is more just a legscissors while you're grabbing the other guy's heel. I guess they're trying to spread FdT's legs real far. This leaves a lot more room in the middle, so Mascara has no problem getting Aguila in a campana for the win.
3: Aguila and Maximo are going before the whistle blows. Maximo's very impressed by Aguila's back flip for no reason. Aguila goes out after taking a springboard armdrag. Damian in, and a springboard armdrag takes care of him. Maximo screams on everything - he screams here when Halloween shoves him down. Maximo blocks a thousand strikes, and Halloween decides to leave before he kisses him. HEY LOOK FAMILIA DE TIJUANA IS WALKING OUT. I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. Felino yells to Halloween, as if reminding him they're low on time as it is. Mascara and Aguila in. Nothing much before Mascara headscissors Aguila out (who almost crotches himself on the top rope on the way out.) Generic sunset flip roll thru into a dropkick spot with Damian - I really can't defend anyone who is still doing that spot in 2006. Dropkick on Halloween is nice. Halloween passes out before more violence can be done to him. Anyone want to come in? Aguila and Felino, because Aguila always goes first. Felino runs a lot to show us how fast he is. Aguila forgets this and gets clotheslined in the back of the head. Damián puts his head down too son and gets it kicked, Halloween gets slid to the floor, and Felino dropkicks the rudos as they huddle up on the outside. Rudos regroup a bit safer. Aguila and Maximo in - no, the rudos are going three on one again. Halloween does something like a standing spin kick here that catches Maximo hard. Felino gets tossed up into a Halloween middle rope spear, and that's the end of him. Mascara is late breaking that up, and ends up loaded up for Damian's valaguesa. Aguila adds in a 450 splash - which is slowed down and highlighted live, how odd - and that's it. A clean win for the rudos!
Doctors check on Maximo on the outside - I'm sure he got killed by that kick. Replays of the finishes. And, besides a girl in scary Halloween makeup and some dancing, that's it.
