CMLL PPV - 10/01/06 [Televisa]
This is a quick recap off some video files of the event; there may be between match things I missing, but probably not much. There didn't seem to be much going on between matches, except artwork and commercials.
Match 1: Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Hiroka (c) vs Marcela, Lady Apache (c), Dark Angel
Arena Mexico, 10/01/06
Winner: Tecnicas (Apache pin Hiroka)
Match Time: 5:38
Approx Rating: Okay, but compressed.
Other Match Notes: Dark Angel came out in her normal gear, but the other
tecnicas were a bit dressed up for the occasion. Amapola has her mysterious IWRG
belt, and of course Hiroka has the women's belt. Arena's very dark except for
the ring. Adonis Salazar and Terror Chino are the refs. Hey, points for breaking
out the crane cam.
Dark Angel and Princesa Sujei start, with neither getting a clear advantage in chain wrestling. They break, and Dark Angel takes control with hiptosses before dueling zero count trips. Shoves instead of standoff. Dark Angel with a whip, under, over, under a Sujei clothesline, blocking a hiptoss, and stepping over into a headscissors. Dark Angel celebrates, and Sujei dropkicks her into the corner. Windup kick to the hamstring. Corner whip, and Dark Angel runs up the corners to come back with a flying armdrag. Dark Angel with a double chickenwing - drop? Not sure what that was supposed to be. Sujei rolls out as Dark Angel teases more. Hiroka in, Dark Angel waves Lady Apache in, Hiroka splits, Amapola comes in, but Lady Apache chases after Hiroka up the stage. They bring the lights up on the stage, and you can see empty seats in that section. This is as dark as I remember seeing it. Anyway, we're getting Marcela and Amapola instead. They do a bit with a Marcela missed clothesline that doesn't look so good, but Amapola rebounds strong with a running sit when Marcela's leaning on the ropes. Amapola reverses a corner whip to get in a dropkick, ducks a clothesline, and kicks Amapola. Amapola fights back, but takes the springboard flip armdrags. Marcela kicks her out of the ring and teases a dive. Again Hiroka comes in, which means Lady Apache is coming in - this time, Hiroka fights back by kicking Apache down. Another kick, a snap mare, and spine kick. Marcela slams her and struts around. Hiroka scarps Lady Apache's face with her boots. In addition to the PPV cameraman, there's clearly one or two photographers down by ringside - CMLL's people, I'd guess. Lady Apache comes back with a bodyscissors bulldog and Tornado DDT. She tries for a dive, but Amapola cuts her off with a Diamond Cutter (! - but needs work, looked too assisted.) Hiroka adds an elbow drop - are we into the beat down with no transition? The other tecnicas come in, but Amapola and Sujei whip them into to the corners, charge, and both end up spearing the posts. Planchas all around, as they squeeze the beatdown and the comeback into about 15 seconds. This leaves the Captains - Lady Apache is too busy getting the fired up to notice Hiroka kicking her in the face. Corner whip, reversed, Hiroka set up on top and Lady Apache joining her - top rope bodyscissors cradle one two three. (5:38) Yea, that was too short. Or they should've cut down the opening exchanges if that's all the time they want. The rudas head out, but Lady Apache is after them. We get replays.
Dr. Morales nearly says Televisa Deportes, but turns it into Televisa Sky. That's worth the PPV alone.
Match 2: Alex Koslov, Averno (c), Mephisto vs Sagrado, Ultimo Dragon (c), Felino
Arena Mexico, 10/01/06
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:39
Approx Rating: Good, but short.
Other Match Notes: Ultimo Dragon entered last for his team, but Volador (in
a neck brace and three piece suit) followed out. Tecnicos got the crowd to cheer
for him. Lights are still low. Mephisto and Averno get separate entrances to
annoy me, but Mephisto's got a really cool outer mask to make up for it. Refs
are Baby Richard and Bestia Negra. Sagrado's got a tricolor outfit which looks
nice.
1: Alex and Dragon start off, with Dragon confounding the Russian with his speed. Felino and Mephisto pair up, and Felino looks very fast this night, Mephisto getting nothing in before Felino tags out. Mephisto stays in for a movement versus Sagrado, but it's Averno for him. Sagrado controls that, finishing with a spinning headscissors and a top rope moonsault to the floor! I know everyone's saying this, but he's so much smoother than he used to be. Felino quickly gives Alex Koslov a crucifix powerbomb and a top rope moonsault to take care of him. Dragon's five kick combo looks stronger than usual, and a Dragon Cutter ends Mephisto.
They're doing "walking thru the crowd" shots in between falls, which must mean they're more comfortable with the crowd - but it's still very dark, and you can half empty rows as they walk bye.
2: Koslov and Dragon are fighting as we're looking at the ring girl, and it's all Dragon (doing Dragon like things.) Mephisto gets in a bit more against Felino this time, but ends up taking a middle rope 'rana. Sagrado and Averno - no mixing up, this match - and Sagrado is almost able to stand up to Averno's hard chest slaps. Sagrado reverses a whip to a spinning headscissors, and Sagrado's backbreaker/gutbuster spot is looking shaper. Mep kicks Sagrado out of the ring, and Averno helps boost his partner into a springboard tope con giro on the monk. Averno tries facing Felino instead, and that pays off - Felino takes the knee bump to the outside, and Averno wipes him out with his great tope con giro. Dragon and Koslov are in, and once again Koslov is getting killed, but he manages to escape the Dragon Cutter. Clothesline caught and reserves - Russian legsweep! Russian Crossface! (3:00) There's nothing greater than a Russian doing a Russian legsweep.
3: No between fall beatdown by the rudos, but they're all over Sagrado as soon as the fall starts. Rebound hiptoss faceslam for him. Neat spot: a modified cavern era around the ropes by Koslov, with Averno & Mephisto adding dropkicks to the body. That'll be stolen. Dragon brought in and beat up. Koslov even gets in a good kick. Dragon's taken to the outside for a fireman's carry tossed in a gutbuster, and he's held on the ground for Mephisto's slip n' slide splash. Felino's comes in for his team and fairs little better. Triple pump powerbomb doesn't look good the first time, so they do it twice. Rudos get announced by the crowd, but the crowd is more annoyed by Koslov's Russian Dance kicks. Triple dropkick for Felino. Rudos pose in the corners, and Sagrado slips in to attack Koslov. Sagrado gets stopped, but he moves out of the way of the first corner whip he finds. Sagrado gets in a nice headscissors and makes the rudos miss long enough for his partners to help out. Koslov jumps into a dropkick, knocking him into positing for the Asia Moonsault. Other four in, and the rudos are whipped into each other. Felino boosts Sagrado up for a dropkick on both, but they move out of the way! That almost never happens, and means certain doom for the tecnicos: Averno gives Felino Devil's Wings, and Mephisto gives Sagrado a La Rosa variant. Pins, and that's it.
Match 3: Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero (c), Blue Panther vs Kenzo Suzuki, Olimpico (c), Marco
Corelone
Arena Mexico, 10/01/06
Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:56
Approx Rating: No better than okay, but some nice looking spots. Dos vs
Corelone is being built well.
Other Match Notes: Blue Panther's entrance is missing from this version. Rey
brought his belt. Might as well. He also has a wacky pirate mask and pirate-ish
valets. Kenzo is looking beyond strange. Marco is wearing MC on his chest,
Superman style. It also helpfully has "Corelone Steel". Remember when
he was doing that gimmick on Velocity? No? Oh. The back of Rey's tights say
"For Ladies", and I can't even decide what's the funniest joke to make
about that.
1: Did they never blow the start whistle? I didn't hear it. Crowd's at least into this match. Pairs are Panther/Olimpico (Blue leading thru mat wrestling), Kenzo/Rey (more on the run, just okay), and Dos/Marco (goes 10 seconds before the beatdown.) They're still chanting for Rey, but it was nothing compared to the Dos Caras chants when he was squaring off with MC. Big spot is MC jumping to the top rope and pulling Dos off with a 'rana (5:16). Yes, Marco Corelone can do a 'rana. Olimpico cradles Panther while we're looking elsewhere. (5:26)
2: Beatdown goes thru fails. Panther's beaten down with fisticuffs, mostly. Kenzo figures they might as well go after his mask while he's there, but not much comes of it. We miss most of the a Corelone slingshot/ Olimpico senton spot, the ref obscures Jindrak's springboard clothesline (on Rey, who just stood and watched for 5 seconds), but they do catch Kenzo's flying whatever. Dos is set up in the middle of the ring so Corelone can do his running Superman dive into the ring, and they tease it pretty well before delivering - but Dos moves out of the way, and only the rudos take it. Comeback brawling. Rey hits a double sit on the ropes, and Dos goes to the outside on Corelone with a springboard plancha. Panther gets Kenzo with the fujiwara (3:03) and Rey hits the Buca Storm on Olimpico for the fall. (3:06)
3: Cold start to third fall, going back to the original Olimpico/Panther matchup. Panther takes care of him, and has Kenzo going too until he gets a big boot (it's unclear if actually hit, but Panther sure thinks it did.) Wacky strut knee drop MISSES. Kenzo takes one dropkick to the knee and he's slowly out. Marco in, so Dos comes in - but Rey cuts in front of him to take on Corelone? Huh. Dos wants him too, but Marco drops Rey with a chest slap and leaves him. Olimpico comes in instead, and it's him versus Rey. Rey gets the best when they're not evading each other, of course, and in come Corelone again. Rey's ready to go head to head - or head to chest, or whatever. Corelone works him over with kicks, but badly (in more sense than one) misses one, and Rey teaks him down. Jumping senton and Marco rolls out, so Rey doesn't look completely the fool. Taunts, of all kinds, to Kenzo, who tries to come in and trips over the bottom rope. Rey kicks him for good measure. Tag to Dos, and now they'll get that battle with Marco. Missing clothesline exchange, and Marco hits his clothesline. Good camera angle on that one. Off the ropes evasion and blocking, Dos gets in a kick to the midsection, and a running kick to the chest. Whip, reversed, Dos holds onto the ropes and avoids Marco's clothesline, but then gets backdropped out - but comes back with a springboard dropkick! Olimpico of the top, and Dos catches him and gives him a fallaway slam. Kenzo heads up, and gives a climbing enziguri. Dos celebrates, but Corelone throws him off. Marco going to dive? No, Panther pulls down the ropes, and Marco falls out the backside. The other four in, and the tecnicos take down the rudos, throwing them both out. Olimpico tries to pull himself back up, but Rey dropkicks him all the way out, and Panther ads a tope. Rey walks out to the apron, and gets Kenzo (already in a seat) with a diving back elbow. Captains back in, and Dos runs right into a back elbow. Powerbomb? Yes! One two th-NO. Marco is shocked by the concept of a lucha near fall. Big clothesline by Marco misses, Dos with a German suplex one two THREE. (6:24) Dos is thrilled. Replays. Wow, Dos didn't spike him on the German. He's getting better!
Match 4: Negro Casas, Groon XXX, Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) vs Damián 666 (c), Halloween, Mr.
Aguila
Arena Mexico, 10/01/06
Winner: Tecnicos (2-0)
Match Time: 10:20
Approx Rating: Nothing worth watching here. Usual spots + Groon.
Other Match Notes: They don't even have the ring lights turned up when
Negro enters, with a mistake. Groon gets fireworks, which is the waste of some
fireworks. They're spelling it Groond XXX this time, but I'm not. Wagner gets a
stronger reaction than Groon, I think. And he gets fireworks too. He's got the
UWA title, of course. Perros come out together, because they seem to have a
better grasp of this than Averno & Mephisto. They try some flame effect for
their entrance, but it doesn't really come off. Halloween walks thru Wagner to
pose, and so Wagner pushes him out of the ring while he poses. Damian does not
make intros? We're slipping.
1: Damian and Negro start with chain wrestling, for all of fifteen seconds. Perros are wearing flak jackets, which is really smart or illegal. Perhaps both, but they're not being DQed. Halloween and Wagner have a chop/screw around fest. Aguila unzips his flak jacket, to get the most out of his fruits and vegetable workouts. He matches up against Wagner, with Wagner getting most of him. Damian comes in, gets in an elbow, and poses like Wagner, which the Doctor of course doesn't appreciate. So Damian does it again, and again. And while he's sitting there on one knee, Wagner gives him an enziguri. Oh gosh, Groon. Groon gets a reaction and a Gronda chant, but I think the fans were most into Wagner. All three rudos appear to come into face him, but Damian takes him on alone, and mocks him a fair bit. Chokeslam on Damian! Spear-kinda on Halloween on Aguila. There may be some Groon backslash. Halloween is slide out, but Damian catches him from falling - but then gets scared of Groon and drops him. Damian wanders into the path of Negro's running silla, and that's it for him. Groon and Aguila in the ring while Wagner gets in his dive. Aguila gets Groon down and goes up for the 450, Groon moves, Aguila lands on his feet, Aguila big boot is an obvious feed for a spinebuster slam, and that's it. (5:06) Other guys are getting counted out, not that it stops one ref from raising the tecs hands before the count is over. (5:18)
2: Rudos in no hurry to start fall two. Neither I am. Halloween and Negro exchange shoves. Halloween takes off the flak jacket. See, that's another added benefit - more items of clothes Halloween can dramatically take off. They switch to chops. Negro gets in a stunner, and Halloween happens to fall right in the corner for the square dropkick. Negro seems like he wants one more, but the rudos storm the ring to stop such a thing from happening. Beatdown time. Aguila goes after the brace on Groon's left leg. Groon seems to have gained some weight, and most of it in the gut area. The painted lines disguise it a bit. Groon eats beats and is sent out, and Wagner gets a quick turn in. Negro in, and he gets the giant swing dropkick combo - they still haven't perfected the timing that. Groon's less dominating this time thru - Aguila was facing him one on one, and now Halloween is doing the same on the outside. On the inside, Aguila gives Wagner a top rope 'rana, one two no? Once you start kicking out in the second fall, something's up. One too many Aguila kicks, Wagner catches on and gives him a dragon leg whip, but Damian and Halloween are on him before he can do more. Wagner and Halloween get into a chop fest, which Halloween actually wins. Halloween spits at Damian and dares him to come in - and then all three men beat him down. Groon side steps the corner charge, gets stopped of a moment, and lands the big double clothesline. Halloween still this his spear on Groon, and Groon has no idea how to sell. This, or anything else. Things are breaking down - Aguila gets in a modified tornillo on Wagner (modified by looking bad), and Halloween and Groon are left in the ring. Groon and Halloween can't decide if they're going to do a chokeslam or a press slam, and once the goozle finally comes on, Damian's in and clocking Groon in the back with a cane. Everyone saw it, so this one's over. (DQ 5:02) Groon's down and grabbing his knee, and Halloween gets the cane back to smashed the knee some more. Aguila gets a turn too. Hey, Wagner, Negro, you going to help? Groon saves himself by rolling out to the apron and out harm's way. Replays.
Let's look at Tony's drawing. It's a PPV, he can afford color!
Match 5: Ultimo Guerrero (c), Tarzan Boy, Atlantis vs
Perro Aguayo Jr. (c), Hector Garza, Shocker for the vacant CMLL
Trios Championship
Arena Mexico, 10/01/06
Winner: Guerreros (2-1)
Match Time: 10:12
Approx Rating: While this could've used more time in the first fall, this
was still a good and fun little match. The reactions to various guys was quite
interesting, and while Shocker's turn boarded on overshadowing the result, it
didn't bring down the finish. (Perros were losing anyway.)
Other Match Notes: All night, tecnicos have been coming out first. I note
this here, because the Guerreros are out first. They've got lots of Azteca
dancers with them, but enter separate. Atlantis gets a big cheer? The entrances
go long enough that the music is repeating by the time Ultimo appears. Rudos get
separate entrances too. I guess no one thinks team entrances are cool besides
me. Aguila, Damian, Halloween, and Terrible (yay) appear during Perro's entrance
to help celebrate before the match. Valets bring out the trios belts - ah, they
still have them. Scorpio represents the commission here. You're refs are
Baby Richard and a tecnico ref's who's name I'm blanking on. Lots of people with
Perros gear, and we see much of it. They're crowd favorite right now.
Flash back: Perro top rope stomp to win it for this trio.
1: Shocker and Ultimo Guerrero. Have these two fought? It's like old times (ie too fast for me to keep track of unless I keep pausing), but mostly dueling arm work to start, and lots of counters. Fans seem to be reacting to each other's chants than the match at first. Shocker get an early edge with a short clothesline, Atlantis knocks him down with a dropkick, Los Perros storm the ring, and it's that side who takes control. Tarzan and Atlantis are thrown out, and it's three on one on Ultimo. He's sat on the apron for Garza's running knee. Stomp. Tarzan brought in, and Shocker yanks him around by his hair to set up for Perro punches. Whipped into Garza's boots. Shocker with his fireman's carry bomb (drop in this case), and Garza headed up - top rope corkscrew moonsault just hits, one two three. (2:40) Atlantis brought in, and he's lifted up by Garza and Shocker, so Perro can add the top rope double stomp. One two three. (3:05) Perros still beat down Guerreros in between falls, bringing in Ultimo to kicks around as we get replays.
Aguayo borrows a camera to get a good zoomed in shot of Hector taking off his shirt. This nearly beats Rey's tights. Perro gives back the camera, and immediately gets back to beating Ultimo. Ultimo escapes and shoves down Perro, and Perro just walks away and poses. Huh.
2: Perro poses to start the fall, and Ultimo shoves him form behind. They're restarting this fall with both sides in their corners and no edge. Both men exchange chops, and it's about an equal battle, with Último getting the worst of it and the first man to go off the ropes. He pays for it, with Garza and Shocker getting cheap kicks form the outside and yanking him out. While they're busy with Ultimo, Atlantis comes into take care of Perro and gets a sunset flip. Garza and Shocker see this and storm back in, going off the ropes first for a double dropkick to Atlantis back. Before they get it, Perro reverses the sunset flip so he's up - and his partners accidentally dropkick him! Had to have pretty good timing on that one, and they did. Ultimo and Tarzan dropkick Shocker and Hector out, and Ultimo teases a dive. Garza and Shocker spot it and try to run away, but take one step and turn into each other. Ultimo's got them faked out anyway - he's just setting up to backdrop Tarzan into a pescado on them both. Hector and Shocker catch Tarzan, so Ultimo gets running - tope knocks the pile back and causes it to collapse. Ultimo more went over the top them than bowled them over on that, but the point was made. Atlantis and Perro left in, and Perro rushes Atlantis with a clothesline. Perro turns takes a sec to recover in the corner, charges, and Atlantis lifts him up into the Atlántida! Crowd cheers?!? (1:55) Perros fans boo after. Both me and the announcers desperately want that Perro del Mal Scooby Do. Replay of Ultimo's dive - as he went over the top, he yanked his popped down to make sure he had some effect. That would've been a good place for a plancha instead of a tope, but that's not Ultimo's move. Perro is frustrated between falls.
3: Tarzan poses for Hector's benefit, and gets dropkicked cross the ring. Hard knee to the midsection. Ultimo and Atlantis are rooting Tarzan out on from the outside. Whip, reversed, over under, Hector flips over a backdrop, Tarzan off the ropes and dropping him with a clothesline. Perro leans thru the ropes to tell Hector to get up. Tarzan throws Hector into the corner, chest slap, corner whip, Tarzan charges in, Hector backdrops him, Tarzan lands on the apron, Hector attacks, Tarzan forearms him away, top rope armdrag, and Hector slides out to the corner, but slides just short of the corner. Tarzan tags out - maybe he didn't see it. Crowd is loud when Shocker and Ultimo are in - they're behind Ultimo it seems. Shocker immediately gets him with a German suplex, and gets booed. Ultimo Back suplex, both men off the ropes, Shocker lands his high boot. Wow, I'm surprised at the level of boos. Shocker tires the boot it never works twice. Ultimo tries a kick, Shocker catches it with his left arm, Shocker tries to get in right hand shots but Ultimo blocks them away, and lands the enziguri. Shocker falls into the corner, and Ultimo charges. Shocker ducks, and Ultimo takes the knee bump out. Shocker tope con giro! He threw a lot into that one. Tarzan up top - top rope plancha. Garza headed up - top rope tornillo! Atlantis and Perro left back in. Last time, Atlantis seemed to kick the bottom rope in frustration - maybe this time, he's kicking it in excitement? Perro kicks and stomps and goes nuts on Atlantis, ending outside the ring by himself and wildly swinging. (Good thing there were no photographers there! haha.) Hard working guy clears room for the cameraman to take his fifty trip down the aisle. Perro slow following up, and Atlantis flattened him with a dropkick. Atlantis goes to it twice, and Perro ducks out of the way. well in advance. Perro off the ropes and into the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker! One more! Whip, Atlantis puts his head down too soon, and Aguayo dropkicks it. Aguayo - no, Garza back in, and Perro directs him to do a sliding dropkick on Atlantis, which connects. Perro headed up, a bit tentatively. Garza holds Atlantis in place, and Perro gets him with a top rope Thesz Press. Shocker and Ultimo left in. Crowd again behind Guerrero. Chest slap fest - Ultimo's barely up, and Garza takes him down with a kick in the back of the knee. Tarzan's nowhere to be found. Garza and Shocker celebrate, and give Ultimo a double rebound suplex. Both men heading up (after Garza informs Shocker), but Ultimo's less hurt than they thought, crotching Shocker and heading over to stop Garza. Garza jump flips over him, but Ultimo still drops him with a clothesline. Ultimo and Garza left in, Ultimo off the ropes, Shocker grabs him from the apron, Garza charges and kicks, Ultimo moves, and Shocker gets kicked in the head. Uh Oh. (Crowd has same reaction.) Tarzan's in now, and as Garza busies himself with clotheslining and stomping Ultimo, Tarzan Boy gets in a powerbomb and a three count on Shocker (5:34) If Tarzan was paying attention, he could've stopped that easily, and it's not clear why he wasn't. Garza dropkicks Tarzan after the fact, and checks on Shocker - but Shocker shoves him. Taking off the shirt - and throwing it at Garza. Mixed reaction to that. Garza takes the shirt, and is knocked down from behind by Tarzan. Shocker's walking off as Tarzan sets up Garza on the top rope. Último up, Guerrero Special. Shocker's walking out. Ultimo covers. One two three. (6:12) Mixed reaction to the new champions. Perro showed back up a bit too late. He takes out his anger on a cameraman as the Guerreros get the belts. Perro finds himself surrounded by cameras and doesn't like it. Replays.
Extended dance number here. There was time to fill. Hey, they did a Black Warrior vs Mistico video package. Perhaps this was done for a while and I'm just now seeing it.
Match 6: Black Warrior vs Mistico in a mask match
Arena Mexico, 10/01/06
Winner: Mistico (2-1)
Match Time: 12:18
Approx Rating: A really fun third fall (if possibly overdoing it on the
dive - the near falls were great.) First two falls were just there to get them
out of the way. This was as good as could be expected for the time that was
given to them and arranged as such. Not the anti-Mistico undercurrent I was
expecting.
Other Match Notes: Warrior gets flame effects, and they still don't look as
cool on TV as I think they must be live (well, I hope they at least look good
there.) Warrior's got a shiny new looking purple mask for the occasion. Crowd
gets loud on the first notes of Mistico's music. Warrior attempts to attack Mistico
on the way to the ring (and kinda gets Monito), but gets cut off by a huge
firework/smoke machine display for Mistico. That's the most I've seen in CMLL.
It occurs to me, as we see the ref with the wacky glasses again, that we haven't
actually seen anything from that camera angle. Anyway, Mistico waits till the
smoke gushers are about done, and does a plancha thru them onto to Warrior. Mistico
ends up on his feet, and calmly walks to the ring while taking off his robe.
Warrior still manages to kick him down. Fray Tormenta is here, just so
people can point out Fray Tormenta is here, but we don't get to see much of him
with Warrior attacking Mistico off the bat. Warrior brings the fight in the
ring, and gets Mistico down with two big boots.
1: Opening whistle is about 30 seconds after the fight has started - actually later, because they blow it again after ten seconds. Warrior gets in a (slam? and) second rope legdrop. NO cover, instead rolling Mistico to his back, tying his legs up and pulling Mistico in a single leg tapatia. Mistico gives up instantly. (:18) The rudo bellringer approved. You know, if the magazine guys were really smart, they would've given him a camera! What are they going to do?
While Warrior takes off his skirt, and beats up Mistico a little more, here's a shot of the announcers, of Fray Tormenta, and some replays. Back live, Mistico's mask is ripped up. Monito is a White Monkey tonight, totally matching Mistico's gear.
2: Warrior starts the fall by pressing Mistico, and giving him snake eyes in the corner. Mistico is bleeding! He's not covered in blood, but it's not a small cut. Warrior works on the wound, and then takes his time, allowing Mistico to get up on his own power. Whip, reversed, and Mistico back with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Warrior charges into a drop toe hold, and there's the 619. There's lots of cheers, and maybe an undercurrent of boos. Springboard twisting headscissors! Off the ropes, spinning armdrag into a small package, one two three. (1:35) Tied up, after about two minutes of wrestling. Mistico's forehead is red, though he's trying to clear that between falls. Crowd chanting for Mistico - though a Black Warrior fan seems to have infiltrated the rabid tecnico section. Replays.
3: Warrior is down on the mat as the third fall starts. The top left part of Mistico's mask is ripped off, which gives him a weird mohawk look as his hair sticks out past the mask. Mistico's looking for mask ripping revenge, and rips off the top rope Warrior's mask. Now they're both half covered. Whip, reversed, Mistico over, tumbling run, Warrior misses a clothesline, Mistico with a armdrag out of fireman's carry position. Springboard spinning armdrag sends Warrior out, and Mistico after him with the tornillo! Both men down on the outside. Enough time for a replay. Mistico is in first, while Warrior fixes his mask before coming in. Mistico shredded the top part pretty good - it's almost a Electroshock situation. It feels like we miss something looking at the crowd, but we come back to Mistico getting Warrior with a 'rana, one two NO. Both men tired. Mistico makes the first move, and tries for a bodyscissors, but Warrior counters by throwing him down, one two NO. Warrior stomps Mistico. What's he going to do? Get tripped up by Mistico. Mistico off the ropes, Warrior backdrops him, Mistico lands on the apron, Mistico's punches is blocked, Warrior gives him a wheel kick to the midsection. Everyone sees what's coming next. Warrior runs, and - slingshot tope con giro? Okay, no one saw that coming. It's pretty fine, but it's not the bullet tope - perhaps Warrior made a mistake by not going for the KO blow here. Crowd chanting for Mistico he pulls himself up. Warrior in first, Mistico batting him away with a 619 to the midsection, springboard sunset flip, Warrior rolls thru, dropkick to the head (nearly connects) one two NO! Not the slow dramatic three counts. Mistico trying to draw from the crowd. Crowd's making a lot of noise, but not getting together for a chant. Whip by Warrior, Mistico back with a twisting headscissors, and Warrior out again. Warrior gathers himself - and Mistico flattens him with a springboard tornillo! That looked great - lots of good replays. Warrior's mask IS Electroshock's mask at this point. Mistico in first, and giving Warrior a sliding dropkick to keep him away. Mistico to the ropes, Asai Moonsault meets boots! That's dive 5 in this fall so far, if you're counting. Not as hard impact as has happened sometimes before, but still not fun. They start to show a replay, and a second, but abort - WARRIOR BULLET TOPE! He threw everything he had into that one, and Mistico nearly got impaled on the front row people (who weren't moving.) Replays - you know, it seems like they've got more of ringside lit up by now, but it may just be because the guys are at ringside so much. Warrior starts to climb in first, but Mistico yanks him off apron. We've got some danger of a count out here, and Mistico can't manage to pull himself in - he does, and breaks the count, so Warrior has time to get in. Mistico on his knees celebrating, and Warrior pounces on him, pulling him in a cavernaria. Mistico waves his hands wildly - is he giving? Warrior sure thinks so. Now Mistico's stopped moving. One arm drop! Two arm drop! Mistico's not moving at all. Warrior cinches it on. Third arm - NO, Mistico's rallying! Mistico breaks free. Crowd is loud. Mistico is exhausted.
