AAA Mini Line - 09/30/06
Interviews: Policeman is fired up for this match. Rey COmeta does a lot of pointing at us.
Match 1: Policeman vs Rey Cometa in a quarterfinal of the dream tournament
Auditorio Manuel Bonilla, 08/20/06
Winner: Rey Cometa (top rope 450 splash)
Match Time: 8:36
Notes: Policeman at least has Policeman gear. They actually started with
mat wrestling, which was amusing. Policeman was neither good nor bad here, and
the match was the same - probably went a minute or two long, and it felt like
Cometa was just trying to get spots in (not sure the point of doing a top rope
Spanish Fly if it's going to be an unimportant 2 count.)
Promos: Pesdailla's promo is whiny. Nemesis sounds much more confident.
Match 2: Pesadilla vs Nemesis AAA in a quarterfinal of the dream tournament
Auditorio Manuel Bonilla, 08/20/06
Winner: Pesadilla middle rope moonsault
Match Time: 6:23
Other Match Notes: Nemesis get sin a hurry early, with a lot of fancy
armdrags and almost whipping himself out on a thru the rope tope con giro. Total
spot exhibition - only a competition about who could do the fancier stuff.
Promos: Pegaso and Apache talk.
Match 3: El Apache vs Pegasso in a quarterfinal of the dream tournament
Auditorio Manuel Bonilla, 08/20/06
Winner: Apache via crucifix powerbomb
Match Time: 5:45
Notes: Why does Pegasso have a Mortal Kombat remix? Pegasso's from LA?
Might have been an early clip - we skip almost directly to Pegasso doing a tope,
rushing back in the ring, and immediately following with a tope con giro. And
then Apache's in control after replays (but only shortly). Apache has great wind
to take four straight dropkicks, taking a bump on each one. He stops Pegasso's
run with a big punch, and then gets in a set of moves leading to the
finish.
Interview: Someone gave Alliens his own stable! What were they thinking? They have video of the small alien flying around on the blue screen behind them. Alliens speaks English, but Mungo (white with two antennas with spheres on the end) only speaks the language of the aliens. Alliens has to translate. I guess this interview is meant to be taking places IN SPACE, because Mungo floats away (sorta) and Kripter (horns and no mouth) strut flies into our screen. And then the interviewer flies away! New levels were achieved in this promo.
Match 4: Alliens, Mungo (c), Kripter, Madrox vs Alebrije (c), Elegido, Super AAA, Cuije
Auditorio Manuel Bonilla, 08/20/06
Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 10:48
Other Match Notes: This is a different "Super AAA" - thinner,
at least. Logically, Alebrije and Cuije show up as Darth Vader and Yoda. Well,
not logically. Cuije and Mandrox, the Alien mascot, are both officially in the
match, which is weird (but better, I think.) I'm guessing Mungo is someone we
might already know and that's why he's captain (and maybe even why we got sound
effects for his voice.) Then again, my other thought here is the rudos work too
well together on the beatdown to be new to each other - maybe these are guys
Alliens teams with in Tijuana (under different identities?) Elegido tries to
make the comeback by dancing - no. He gets another chance later, and press slams
one Alliens onto two others, which does work. Alebrije gets (accidentally)
boosted by Alliens into a dropkick on Mungo, and appears to knock himself out on
the landing. Kripter, unaware, luckily doesn't actually hit Alebrije on a
followup elbow drop, and Hijo de Tirantes jumps in to check on him there. The
rudos still feel a need to stomp Alebrije, but the referees run them off and
Super AAA moves Alebrije to the apron for the doctor. Replay shows Alebrije
landed right on his head - the announcers are a bit horrified, but he's up and
standing o the outside. They walk him away from the ring as the guys in it try
to improvise, and aren't the best crew for such things., it seems. Everyone dies
dives to lead to the Cuije nearfall on Madrox, and then Alebrije comes back in
to bounce around Madrox - they're both captains, so this is the finish. Alebrije
gets a tapatia on Mungo, Madrox comes into break it up, Cuije low blow kicks him
to stop him, and that was quite dumb.
Noti AAA
- talk about the (upcoming) Central America tour
- six guys left in the dream tournament (though we see all 12); watching this
stuff out of order, it appears they taped all the interviews and backstage bits
for this before the tournament actually happened.
- hey, they finally filmed new backstage at TNA footage. Though, Scott D'Amore
is still wearing his Coach D'Amore jacket, so maybe it's not doom. ARRIBA
CANADA! ARRIBA US! I love how Konnan appears to send in 5 minute promos, and
they mute all but 10 seconds of it.
- Octagon explains that, actually, Mexico is better than the US and Konnan is
mistaken. Ah!
Interview: the Dark Family talk about the Atomicos title match. Escoria points out they've beat them all so far. Where's Chessman? Ozz ducks the question and says they're the best. They refuse to answer the Where's Chessman question
Interview: Here's Chessman, wondering where everyone's at. Chessman was given the wrong time by the Sect, it seems. He has no idea what's going on, but he's not very happy about it. Where's Chessman? Chessman will be at the ring!
Match 5: Chessman, Ozz, Scoria, Escoria vs
Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Juventued Guerrera, Psicosis II for
the Mexican Atomicos Championship Match
Auditorio Manuel Bonilla, 08/20/06
Winner: Dark Family (2-1)
Match Time: 6:27
Other Match Notes: The fight's already started by the time we join in.
Why is everyone wearing black pants in this match? Crazy Boy at least wears a
white shirt. Not that he and Juvi look any good with their quick offense to get
pins. Juvi gets a double flipping stunner on both guys, and that's good enough
to get the pin on Escoria, but Crazy Boy simply must get in a second rope elbow
drop before he gets the pin on Ozz. It wasn't even a good move or a neat move,
it was just a move. Because we didn't get an open, it takes me a second to
realize this is supposed to be three falls. It's not until the graphic comes up
for the third fall that I realize we're meant to be almost over.
3: They've already got a 9 chair pyramid set up on the outside for someone to take a bump thru. So dumb. Third fall was all about people taking turns getting big moves, and someone else breaking them up. Crazy Boy took the bump into the chairs. Mexi Powers were dos devastated, they nearly won the match. Is Juvi doing the CMLL punk slaps/back first combo? Not well, if he is. Juvi does not cover after the Juvi Driver, which means he's losing. Psicosis and Juvi go up instead, and that's the end of them - Juvi gets pushed off by Ozz into a Chessman spear, and Psicosis gets a chair shot from Escoria to set up a Cuervo inverted figure four.
Post match, they got around to following around the pre-match angle, with Muerte coming out and congratulating the Dark Family, and being a bit more hesitant to do the same with Chessman. Chessman thanks over the handshake when he finally gets it, and the fans would be okay with him turning =- Chessman leads on the Chessman chant instead of making a decision. Handshake, but Chessman still leaves on his own.
Interview: Scorpio Jr. - who's got a frog in his throat. He's in a good mood, anyway. He's not interested in a hair match with Super Porky. Scorpio Jr. assures us he's great.
Match 6: Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido (c) vs
Octagon, Super Porky, Zorro (c)
Auditorio Manuel Bonilla, 08/20/06
Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 10:50
Other Match Notes: Porky dances on the stage as part of his entrance,
and Scorpio walks right up to him and breaks a bottle on his head. Porky easily
saw it and didn't move. So we start right off with bleeding. Scorpio kicks and
stomps Porky on the entrance, but Porky helpfully gets back up so Scorpio can
rush him to the ring. Opening whistle is about 1:20 after the bottle attack.
When Porky gets knocked from the ring, some fan reaches out and touches
his bloody forehead - that's quite disgusting. Alan and Zumbido put their heads
down too soon on a double backdrop, Porky forearms them in the back, and that's
your comeback. Scorpio quickly gets busted open by Porky - Porky bits his forehead,
which is also disgusting. Highlight of the tecnicos individual runs on the rudos
is Zorro kicking Zumbido right in the face on a spinning heel kick. Tecnicos are
rolling to a sure win when Porky slowly goes the middle rope for a splash, but
Scorpio low blows him while the refs are watching the other fights. Everyone but
Arturo Rivera and Alan Stone forgets Zorro's the captain (why was he the
captain?) until Alan gets the second pin.
Interview: Interviewer mentions La Parka Jr. has three championships. All worthless! The one on the line next is the only one he's got with him. This interview is more about building to a kiss.
Match 7: Muerte Cibernetica vs La Parka Jr. for the GPCW Super-X Monster
Championship
Auditorio Manuel Bonilla, 08/20/06
Winner: Parka (2-1)
Match Time: 19:34
Other Match Notes: Why would Muerte choose Chessman to be his cornerman
if they can't even walk to the ring together? Issues! Of course, Octagon's La
Parka's backup. I wonder who these guys are who are supposed to be the GPCW
commission?
1: Slow opening fall. Chain wrestling and Muerte stalling. Parka eventually gets a tilted Boston crab for the submission. Octagon did the usual corner work, while Chessman just threw his towel on Muerte, which the camera pays no mind to. Muerte's not happy, but just gives the towel back.
2: Chessman got in the ring and kicked Parka from behind to help Muerte get the edge. Muerte took control, and Chessman poured some red liquid on Parka - maybe it was Kool Aid? Yes, Muerte won with a headbutt. Chessman got in some cheap shots in between falls.
3: This fall, Chessman manages to get in chair shots on Parka from the outside. Muerte actually puts on a chinlock for a near submission. Clip? We miss Chessman coming in, and see the tail end of him getting another chair shot, for a very slow two count. Park rallies, and dives onto both guys. Chessman throws Muerte back in, probably before he's ready. Parka covers, one two and Chessman pulls the ref (even though his hand slapped three, I guess that broke it.) Hijo de Tirantes might actually throw Chessman out! Nah, he won't. Parka tries another pin, and Chessman breaks it up from the outside. Again, Hijo de Tirantes teases the DQ but won't. Muerte distracts the ref for Chessman to pound Parka more - he's done as much as Muerte at this point, and the fans start throwing cans in the ring. Parka rallies back with quire lazy clotheslines, but Muerte takes back over for more near falls and DQ teases. Muerte finally just lays out Hijo de Tirantes with a chair. Chessman comes in to help beat up people. I lost track of Octagon here, but he had to get laid out at some point - no, he's still standing on the outside and not doing anything. Way to help. Pepe Casas in, Muerte slugs him. Hijo de Tirantes is bleeding - and Pepe Casas raises La Parka's hand.
Chessman blows/spits something in Pepe Casas's face, and he's down. Dark Family is out, and Octagon finally gets in the ring so he can get laid out too. Alebrije and Elegido run in, and everyone else leaves. They still had the numbers!
After a break, he's some replays. That's it.
