CMLL GDR - 09/24/06 (#7)
Recapped: 03/15-16/06
Unmasked: Dorado. The theme, at least the last couple of weeks, have been guys who've lost their masks at anniversary shows.
This week, instead of clipping out the finishes of matches, they clipped out the first segment of both matches. I don't like clipping out segments when there's nothing on FSE to begin with, but at least we get finishes
Match 1: Amapola, La Nazi, Medusa vs Luna Magica, Princesa Blanca, Sahori
Arena Coliseo, 09/17/06
Winner: Rudas (Amapola pin Sahori)
Match Time: 2:03 shown
Approx Rating: Incomplete
Other Match Notes: This one, we start in mid ruda beatdown. La Nazi is
back to not having gear this week. Luna gets a choke lift from La Nazi, and is
thrown down so Amapola can add a top rope elbow drop. Medusa and La Nazi feed
Princesa Blanca to Amapola on the middle rope, so Amapola can kill her with a
front slam. Sahori is slammed by Nazi to set up yet another top rope Amapola
move. As Sahori moves out of the way of a splash, it finally occurs to me what a
relatively ghetto tecnica team we've got here; when Sahori is your big name, why
is this on TV? Medussa clears out Sahori and Magica with big boots, and then
overwhelms Magica with an apron silla. That was a bit scary - Magica had no
chance of catching Medussa, she just got squashed . Blanca dropkicks Nazi out
and tries the double jump plancha on her, and only sorta makes it. This leaves
Sahori and Amapola. Sahori gets in a kick, whips Amapola, misses a clothesline,
Amapola grabs her but misses a short one, and Sahori gets a cradle - for two.
Sahori bodyscissors roll gets two. Amapola with a drop toe hold, hooking the
legs, hook an arm, rolling Sahori over - it's a weird entry, but it ends up
being a casita, and good enough for three.
Match 2: Averno vs Negro Casas [CMLL MIDDLE]
Arena Coliseo, 09/17/06
Winner: Averno (2-1)
Match Time: 8:41
Approx Rating: Incomplete, but what was here wasn't good - slow paced,
usual clichés.
Other Match Notes: We pick up with fall 2. Terror Chino is your
ref.
2: Averno and Negro are exchanging strikes as we start off, and Averno gets the better of it. Averno throws him down by the hair for good measure. Crowd chants for Negro, so Averno yells at them. Fireman's carry into a gutbuster, Negro lands on hiss knees, so Averno dropkicks him down. Averno's a bit too comfortable, taking his time between falls to respond to the Negro chant. Whip, somewhat spinning back elbow, and out goes Negro. Averno out after him, but he's walking around and not fighting. Averno shoves Negro over to the chairs, traps Negro's leg, and kicks it some. Virus - guess he's Negro's corner man - extracts Negro as Averno walks around, and I think the ref warns Virus. Negro back in, and on the attack - dropkick to the knee, dropkick to the knee, casita one two three. Well, you just can't stop him when he does that. Here's some replays. Negro's so good at this, he manages to spin his victim out just the right way, so he can easily grab the arm for the Majistral. Negro and Virus talk strategy. From what we see before the zoom on the FS shirt, it involved punching Averno in the face. That could work.
3: Is Ohara Averno's corner man? Why? Averno with an armbar, bar, pumphandle, pumphandle slam one...two...NO. We're into the the "every count is a slow count" portion of our program, and also "every move requires ten seconds to recover from, for both guys." Averno kicks at Negro, but one too many. Negro catches it, trips Averno, and shin kicks Averno as he tries to stand back up. Negro punches Averno, tries the DDT, Averno blocks and lifts Negro up, dropping him on the apron. Negro tries to stop Averno with a punch, but Averno blocks it with his left hand, and swings around to enziguri him with his right foot. Negro's dropped off the apron, in front of the entrance, and Averno races to the far ropes to get speed - and then rolls to the ropes. Huh. Guess he decided to just do a pescado. Both men down on the floor, long enough to catch a replay. Towel waving time. Averno back in first, but Negro's just taking longer to fix his hair. Negro's met on the apron by Averno and his chest slaps. Averno hits him till Negro is staggered, and stops to pose. Crowd chanting for - Averno? A little? But it's stronger for Negro. Averno suplexes Negro in, but Negro reverses it to a small package, one two no. Corner chops. Corner whip, reversed, Averno charges in, and Negro drop toe holds him into the middle turnbuckle. Time for it - walking square dropkick to the head seems to kill a little less than normal because Negro was awful casual about it. Negro folds Averno's arms before covering - one....two.....no. That was incredibly long. Negro lets Averno up, and Averno comes back with a clothesline, Negro evades, and lands a three kick combo. Averno falls out of the ring, and Negro keeps him there with the apron silla. Replays. We must be close to the end, both guys got their dives in. Negro in first, and we've got the "guy celebrates his countout win too soon, gets pulled in a cavernaria" spot apparently required in every single CMLL singles stip match. Averno at least pulls the hair, but Negro's not giving up here. Negro's really growing his hair out. Negro up first, but Averno does the first move - powerbomb, feet on the middle rope, one two NO. Averno can't believe it, arguing, arguing, there's the inside cradle one two NO. Someone's gotta try a finish next, I believe. Lots of close-ups of the refs - they must be not happy with his counts? Averno off the ropes, misses a clothesline, dropkick to the knee lands, casita but Averno rolls thru, Averno casita, Negro rolls thru, Averno misses another clothesline, kick, Devil's Wings! One two three. New champ!
Averno says this is good, Negro can get his rematch, but he wants Mistico and his belt next. Do we get a shot with Averno wearing the belt? There it is.
