CMLL GDR - 08/27/06 (#3)
Recapped: 09/20/06
Intro: Magadan rides the bus yet again. He must have a reduced fare pass. Hey, it's his stop! As usual, Adolfo is hanging out outside the arena, checking out the shops. You can buy CMLL replica belts? That one actually looks like a NWA title. You too can have a meaningless title. Julio Cesar and Shara are actually by the ring, what a crazy place to be.
Interview: Guess they're talking to Black Warrior thru the show.
Match 1: Canek Jr., Hooligan, Nitro vs Leono, Stuka Jr., Virus (c)
Arena Coliseo, 08/20/06
Winner: Tecnicos, not that we saw any of the falls they won
Match Time: 3:55
Approx Rating: There's no reason you'd seek this out or should seek this
out
Other Match Notes: This is the first clipped show; they've cut out fall
one here, and we join on fall two.
2: Stuka and Hooligan start, with Hooligan just being the base for Stuka's flashy off the ropes move. Virus takes care of Nitro neck, and Nitro runs for the hills when he might take a dive. Virus does get in a good dropkick during the sequence. Leono and Canek are last - that's not the best of idea, and they look by far the less smooth. Leono's twisting headscissors look good, though. Nitro back elbow starts the beatdown from there. Rudos aren't on the same page with team work at all - Nitro and Hooligan had to work a bunch together before. Canek looks most lost. Stuka's taken out after a double backdrop and a senton by Hooligan. Nitro tries pining Leono after a spinebuster, but he can't get anyone to count. Did he not actually have him down? I don't know. They try the triple submission and pose and just pull it off. That was not the best.
3: there is no three! they clipped it out!
Match 2: Dos Caras Jr. vs Black Warrior
Arena Coliseo, 08/20/06
Winner: Dos Caras Jr. (2-1)
Match Time: 11:03
Approx Rating: Not worth seeing
Other Match Notes: Dos is preceded by 8 women. When they only have two
people in the main event, supply exceeds demand.
Interview: Dos Caras does not seem like a dynamic persona here. Adolfo ain't helping.
Interview: Black Warrior's taking them all on, big and small. He's got the intelligence to win this.
1: And the intelligence to take out Dos before the bell. The whistle blows just as Warrior drops a questionably low headbutt. Dos sits up, and Warrior boots him out of the ring. I have a feeling this ill be an easy match to transcribe. Warrior walks Dos to the ramp, and throws him down on it. Back to the ring. Swinging dropkick to Dos, but he's standing up and getting mad. Warrior stops that with a kick to the lag. Snap mare, out he goes, slingshot legdrop. Pin? Nah, he's ripping up Dos' mask quite good. The right side of his face is mostly exposed, so Warrior relents to take care of the left side. Referee Tigre Hispano (that is Tigre Hispano, right?) warns him, but good luck on that. While they argue, Dos is up, and Warrior kicks him in the back. Choke on the ropes with the point of the elbow to the head. Whip, Warrior's head down waaaay too soon but the backdrop works anyway. Warrior goes for a nudo, I think, and Caras small packages him for three. (2:22) That finish is everywhere! Dos gets his arm raise for a second before Warrior kicks him back down. He's an angry man. Warrior doesn't follow up, so we've got time to look at replays. Look, that camera man has a Fox Sports t-shirt. Do they have to change that each match? Break.
2: Look, it's the fall 2 ring girl. By the time we look at the ring, Dos has Warrior down. That's some not good editing right there. Dos is complete control, and Warrior rolls out to take a break. I figured Warrior would dominate thru the third fall, and Dos' comeback would happen there. That's not the case, because Warrior is slowly beating him around ringside, including slamming him on the floor. Dos does his I Am Very Pumped Up motions. I'm kinda disappointing with Dos at this point, but what did I really expect from a Dos Caras Jr. vs Black Warrior singles match? Dos gets his revenge mask ripping, of course. Whip, spinebuster, he goes for the figure for, and Warrior rolls him up one two three. (1:44) Okay, now, I really don't need to see that finish again. Replay makes it look like Dos did a lot of work on that move - well, the second one, it doesn't look as bad, but he sure helped. Dos is fired up after losing. No break in between falls.
3: Warrior tries to rush Dos before the fall starts, and ends up throwing himself out of the ring. Dos responds by throwing himself out of the ring - over the top rope tope! That does look impressive. We get the cavernaria on the tecnico spot, and of course Dos teases giving before breaking the chinlock. If I didn't just see this 'last week' (which was yesterday for me), it'd probably be a bit more effective. Both guys just let each other up so they can yell to the crowd. Warrior charges first, but his clothesline have no effect. Dos has stolen the hip swivel sell from Niebla. There is it again! Dos tells Warrior to check himself, and Warrior does. Warrior off the ropes, Dos ducks and 'lands' a superkick. Warrior clearly turned away early and it looked like crap. Dos charges, Warrior brings down the top rope, and out goes Dos. Time for Warrior to get in his dive - bullet tope looks good. They're doing all the dives to the ramp side, so they can end up the ramp and not into the second row (and so the camera guys can get good shots of them - check out this one running with Warrior on his dive.) Warrior in first, and Dos gets fire dup before he slides in. Warrior tries to sneak in a senton, Warrior moves. Dos tries a 'rana, Warrior powerbombs him and puts his feet on the bottom rope, one two NO. Should've used the middle rope. Warrior can't believe and argue with the ref, Dos roll up one two NO. Some of the crowd's into it, but it seems mostly the rowdy tecnico fans rather than the regular crowd. Dos tries to get them yelling. Dos gets Warrior with a bad looking drop toe hold, La Majistral one two thr-NO. Crowd definitely not into it. Dos' turn to argue the count, and Warrior's time to give him an inside cradle, one two thre-NO. Both men go to corners, Dos charges, Warrior moves, and Dos dropkicks nothing. He went straight down on the hamstring bump, and that didn't look good. Warrior takes a moment to taunt, and then takes down Dos in position. Middle rope legdrop one two NO. Hey, no slow counts! I can believe these particular men are this tired. Dos takes his elbow pads off, I guess he's really fired up. He gets the fans to chant for him, while Warrior tries to get the fans to stop chanting - how about fighting each other, gentlemen? Warrior back elbows Dos, and now they're going to stall a bit longer. Gosh. Dos starts to get up, Warrior boots him down, and the crowd is quiet. Whip, Dos does the Tiger Mask spin, Black Warrior does the pelvic dance, Dos kick, press slam, German suplex one two three. (6:57) Completely clean. Not a huge reaction. Lots of replays. Warrior can't believe it, but he ought to.
