CMLL FSE - 08/20/06 (#2)

Vignette: Mascara Purpura tells us to watch the cibernetico. If he insists. After the break, so does Virus.

Match 1: Misterioso II, Hombre Sin Nombre, Apocalipsis, La Mascara, Mascara Purpura vs Satanico, Dr. X, Sangre Azteca, Volador Jr., Virus
Arena Coliseo, 08/13/06

Winner: Volador Jr.
Match Time: 12:49 for the cibernetico, 2:50 for the battle royal
Approx Rating: Just okay. Could've used the opening. End sequence was a good preview of a future match.
Other Match Notes: The rudos all come out to Emilio's theme, but they still get separate entrances. Did Apocalipsis change his mask again? Wait, Emilio's not here? That'd explain how Apocalipsis is here, but not why they played Emilio's music (at least I thought it was Emilio's music.) Satanico's music plays for the tecnicos. Ring announcer explains we're getting a battle royal - BOOO. Checking my notes - I just timed the battle royal last time, so that's what we'll do here.

Usual lucha battle royal. Satanico makes sure he gets punches in. I guess, getting punches in here isn't so hard. I miss how Misterioso goes out, and I know the camera mostly misses Apocalipsis getting thrown out. Mascara Purpura goes to the second rope and gets dropkicked out by Volador. Satanico dumps La Mascara. Hombre Sin Nombre also goes to the middle rope and out he goes. (2:50) It takes longer than usual for everyone to realize they've got the arms set. Dr. X and Sangre Azteca are not really happy with being with the three in the ring. They really shouldn't have the ring announcer and Julio Cesar listing the team at the same time, especially when they're not listing the same teams.

Vignette: HsN vows to win the cibernetico

Vignette: Apocalipsis explains how he will win, but I'm not quite believing it.

We pick up with Dr. X and Mascara Purpura fighting. Haven't seen much of Dr. X lately, but he's got a nice springboard armdrag. Spinning headscissors, Guerreros taunt. Dr. X charges the corner, Purpura moves, and then gives him a fireman's carry slam. Going up. SSP! One two three. (:40, [5-4]) Yea, they must've cut stuff out.

Virus is on Mascara Purpura with chops. Whip, clotheslines misses, Mascara Purpura just manages a springboard flip, but no one's home. Virus dropkicks him into the ropes, and gives him a running sit choke on the ropes. Virus is fired up. Whip, reversed, Virus slides under, Mascara Purpura tries for something, and Virus reverses it into a release flapjack from a piledriver position. That's got have a better name than I'm using. Half crab with the other leg trapped, and that's it. (1:21, [4-4]

Apocalipsis surprises Virus with a dropkick, to get the drop on him. Whip, reveres, Apocalipsis stands still and lands a shoulderblock. Apocalipsis off the ropes, over, sunset flip, Virus rolls thru and lands the dropkick. Virus grabbing a leg for that submission again, but Apocalipsis kicks him off before he get it locked. Apocalipsis off the ropes, Virus spinebuster, he goes for the submission again, and Apocalipsis rolls him up in a small package. Hmmm, familiar. One two three. (1:59, [4-3])

Sangre dropkicks Apocalipsis, Apocalipsis rolls out, and in comes La Mascara. Sangre doesn't like this idea. La Mascara off the ropes, over, under, no, Sangre got him and pulls him up for a chop. Kick. Whip, clothesline misses, Mascara back with a twisting headscissors. Sangre slides out, and Mascara topes him right up the aisle. La Mascara checks his knee.

Satanico and Apocalipsis in now, but we're looking instead at a someone being stretchered out - I guess it's Dr. X, and I guess he got clonked on the Shooting Star Press. (Let's check - yea, he might have gotten a knee to the midsection, and rolled straight to the floor after the hold. I was watching the action in the ring, but you can see an outside referee wave for the doctor to check on him too. It's on the camera side, so very little of it can be seen.)

Back in the match, Satanico and Apocalipsis are seeing who can knock each other down first. Of course, Apocalipsis is going down first, and immediately retaliates with a kick. Whip, clothesline, elbow drop, one two NO. Kick, whip, clothesline, which Satanico takes a weird bump on. Apocalipsis misses his next running clothesline and takes a boot. Satanico gives him two punches, and spinebusters him to the mat. There's the standing figure four pin to take out Apocalipsis. (3:39, [3-3])

Hey look, Misterioso and Volador Jr. left. Shocking. Volador over, off the ropes, flipping around for no reason, now spinning like crazy around Misterioso into a headscissors. Misterioso rolls out and tries to hide form the dive, but still get a slingshot headscissors. Volador going up - oh, just to pose.

HsN and Sangre in. HsN starts to throw a clothesline with the wrong arm, I swear. Corner whip, Sangre backdrops him out, HsN fights his way back up to the top rope, and jumps off into a Sangre dropkick. One two three. (4:52, [2-3]) Sangre Azteca dropkicking someone who's coming off the top rope is like his alternate finish.

Satanico tries to get the drop on Sangre, and Sangre attacks him - wait, why are they in together? They're on the same team! I'm very confused, and the sequence doesn't last long before Sangre gets elbowed out and Misterioso ambushes Satanico to get this back on track. Maybe Sangre just attacked on instinct and didn't realize Satanico was in to replace him, and then Satanico just fought back.

Anyway, Misterioso lets us know about his choice of dairy products as they start up. Satanico goes for the spinebuster and the standing figure four pin, but Misterioso kicks him off - and puts on a figure four of his own. THAT'S IT. (5:34, [2-2]) This match is figure four-licious

La Mascara and Sangre in. Poor Sangre. Chest slaps. Mascara is the one who cheats and kicks! Not very nice. Corner whip, Mascara gets backdropped to the apron but fights to the top rope, dive into Sangre's dropkick! One two NO, he got the ropes. That's totally going on his wiki profile if it's not there. Corner whip by Sangre, corner clothesline. Corner whip, don't try it twice, he tried it, corner dropkick is sidestepped, and Sangre takes the hamstring corner bump and a hamstring kick. Whip, reversed, Mascara gets the bodyscissors roll into the rocking horse, and that's that. (6:55; [2-1]) It's Volador versus the his rudo rival AND the guy he's battling for position with on the tecnico side.

Mascara stays into face Volador. They have words, and Volador is the first to chest slap. Mascara seems more effective. Volador hasn't been in that long to be this tired, but maybe he worked hard when during the clipped segment. Both off the ropes, both eventually hit planchas into each other; don't get to see that spot much since WCW closed down. Mascara up first and trying the fame finish, but Volador slips free and grabs the ropes. This is why you need a second finish! Volador misses a clothesline, La Mascara dropkicks in the knee, ah, he's going for the default second finish - La Majistral. Problem is, he's holding Volador down slightly wrong, and Volador's right shoulder is up. The ref points it out, Mascara adjusts, one two NO. That could've cost him right there. Mascara is upset at himself - and Volador gets him with a grounded crucifix, one two three! (8:29, [1-1])

Volador's on the ground recovering, and has no idea that Misterioso' slipped in behind him. This is a bad time for a break! (8:50)

Vignette: This is a bad time for Sangre Azteca to tell us he's going to win the cibernetico. I beg to differ! (They could've at least saved a Volador or Misterioso one for this slot - or are they not told who's going to win?)

Vignette: ah, at least we get Misterioso (who calls himself Misterioso Jr.) hyping himself and Fox Sports

Vignette: and here's Volador saying the same.

We pick up with both men up, and Volador quickly superkicking Misterioso out. Volador running - no hands tope con giro! That was nice, and we take a look at a replay as they recover. Volador starts climbing in, but Misterioso pulls him down and away. Is Misterioso going in? No, he's waiting to get to the apron, to do Volador's own Asai Moonsault. Misterioso makes too big a show of doing it, and Volador yanks him down to the floor. Volador needs a moment to recover before following up, and crawls instead of following up. Probably shouldn't sit like that and listen to the crowd, Volador. Yep, Misterioso grabs him into the cavernaria. Volador won't give, and breaks the chinlock to get free. Misterioso is angry, and the Volador chant isn't helping. Misterioso slaps Volador and sets him up - La Rosa! One two th-he got the ropes! Volador can is quite angry and totally unfocused. Time for his second finisher, but before Misterioso can snap Volador with the Gory Neckbreaker, Volador slips free and rolls down Misterioso back - sunset flip one two NO! I have no idea what the crowd is chanting here, it doesn't sound like Volador, but it's definitely not for Misterioso. Volador goes for a headscissors rollup, Misterioso blocks, Volador switches to a huracanrana, one two NO. Crowd - or at least the guys with the horns - is into it. Now they're chanting Volador. Both men go to opposite corners, Volador charges, Misterioso moves, and Volador crashes in. Misterioso gets backdropped to the apron and starts to go up, Volador follows him - top rope Volador Flip. One two three! (12:49) Crowd keeps chanting for him.

Vignette: Mistico tells us to keep watching

Match 2: Atlantis, Olimpico, Black Warrior (c) vs Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Mistico (c)
Arena Coliseo, 08/13/06

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:11
Approx Rating: Okay in parts, but not a good match. First fall was quite odd. Not confident in the match they're setting up.
Other Match Notes: Separate entrances for the Guerreros, even though they're both using the same music. Magadan talks to Atlantis and Olimpico. Atlantis has trouble remembering who he's facing. Olimpico shows off his abs. This is a fine use of our time. Olimpico's mask is looking good, I'll give him that. Atlantis' shirt is pretty cool.

There's a scary amount of girl shrieks for Mistico. He doesn't make in the ring before he's kicked, but first we cut to an interview with him and Magadan. Mistico's not wearing his talking mask, so he sounds really muffled. Magadan explains to Mistico how he has no chance here. Mistico differs.

1: Rudo beat down. Atlantis takes Mistico out, so Warrior pairs up with Dos instead, including landing a questionably low headbutt.  Dos is quite worked over by all three men before they give him a bad double boot. That should send him out, but they keep him in to completely rip his mask up. Meanwhile, Mistico's down in the aisle and it looks like a referee is worried he might be hurt a bit. Blue Panther is over to check on him, and Olimpico comes over to drag Mistico to the ring, but it's serious enough that Panther covers up Mistico, and both refs tell Olimpico to knock it off. Which is why they're picking on Dos instead. Atlantis comes over, lifts Mistico his shoulders, and rolls him in the ring, where Mistico still doesn't move. Meanwhile, they're beating on Blue Panther. Atlantis elaborately splashes Mistico, and covers for three. (2:27) That's not good. I hope Atlantis posing on Mistico's carcass means it's really not that bad. Panther covers up Mistico again, which gets him beat again. Black Warrior and Dos are still fighting, with Dos getting thrown into a seat, right next to a woman who refuses to give hers up. She even starts yelling and making hand motions at Warrior, which is great. Warrior opts to take the fight elsewhere. Monito is brought in, and Olimpico gives him a gentle airplane spin. Replay of the pin, though we don't see how he got hurt to start with. Maybe it was just form the bump he took off the apron, but he was laying in a different place later.

Vignette: India Sioux says hi.

2: Rudos still in control. Mistico has been dropped out of the ring, but he's still laying on the ground till Olimpico picks him up, and presses him over his shoulders. Olimpico walks around to show off, and then drops Mistico chest firs ton the apron. Well, if he wasn't dead before. Meanwhile, Atlantis is headbutting people for fun. Crowd chanting for Mistico, who's at least moving, but gets stomped in the head as he tries to get up. Dos brought in again. Mistico is almost standing, but he still looks a bit worrisome. Panther tries to slap Mistico into alertness. Meanwhile, Dos is getting worked over in a corner. Corner whip, Warrior tries a splash, Dos moves, double clothesline by the other two, Dos ducks, and Mistico lands the springboard splash. He turned a lot after impact, adjusting to land on his stomach, and then rolls out to feud with Atlantis, who uses a ref as a shelf. Meanwhile, Dos is getting his revenge on Black Warrior. Weak Superkick sends Atlantis into the front row, and they go in and out of the ring. Dos and Warrior head out, with Atlantis getting kicked into the front row again. Fans wants another one - ah, they're chanting for Dos to slam Black Warrior on the ramp again. They do get one more slam. People end up back in the ring, and Mistico and Panther end up whipped into each other in the middle. Whipping them into the corner is worse, as Mistico gets tossed to the apron and comes back with a spinning headscissors. Finish time - La Mistica on Olimpico, and Panther uses an abdominal stretch on Atlantis. Same result for both moves. (3:22) Warrior and Dos have a standoff, and then a chase. Replays - Monito got in a splash somewhere in here. It was a bit hectic. Panther was very briefly using the ropes on his hold!

3: Atlantis rushes Panther to start the fall, but Panther manages to come back on his own, landing on his feet after a monkey flip, getting in a backbreaker, and scaring Atlantis out of the ring. Panther taunts Olimpico into coming in, and then tags Mistico. Crowd chants for Mistico, and Olimpico slaps him. Olimpico poses, and Mistico slaps him back. Superkick, off the ropes, waved by for the flipping run, off the ropes, twisting headscissors. Mistico starts running for a dive, but Atlantis stops him. Mistico is okay with this - off the ropes, springboard headscissors, springboard flipping armdrags, and Atlantis is sent out over the top rope. Mistico wants Warrior, and he's going to get him, though not after Warrior annoys the fans a bit, and surprises Mistico with a back elbow. Taunt! Whip, clothesline misses, Mistico tries a something, Warrior blocks it and puts him in torture rack position, Mistico armdrags out. Yet Another Superkick, causes Warrior to go out, and Mistico just teases a dive this time. Rudos huddle on the outside, but the crowd is certainly not with them. Atlantis in, and Dos to fight him. Dos is fired up more than usual here. Atlantis asks the crowd to please clam down. Atlantis then tries to show off his muscles. Posing contest? Atlantis has quite a few poses. The girls seem to like Dos' poses better. Atlantis gets angry at Dos showing him up and shoves him, but Dos shoves him down. Dos off the ropes, Warrior gets in a cheap shot, so Dos gets in his climbing up apron to Warrior on the apron. Atlantis takes advantage, and gives Dos a jumping forearm as he turns around. Olimpico and Atlantis team up for stomps, but Dos runs thru them after a corner whip gone bad. Warrior's the only one left, but he's in no hurry to face Dos. Warrior stalls, and then tries a middle rope cross body - he's caught, Dos slams him, and he's going for the mask. It's quite ripped up, and Warrior's face is quite exposed - Dos adds a dropkick to the back of the had for good measure. Olimpico and Atlantis rush the ring and knock him out. Panther back in, and doing his best to take out two on one. He takes out Olimpico and sets up Atlantis for a Mistico 619. Mistico lands it while Panther's being pulled out. Mistico starts running - slingshot tornillo on Atlantis! Warrior and Dos back in and the crowd is behind Dos. Warrior knocks down Dos first, but Dos comes back with a corner sunset flip rollup. Warrior slips free, but Dos gets him with a kick on the next pass. Press, drop, and Warrior blatantly low blow mule kicks him. Too bad the refs were looking elsewhere. One two three. (7:12) Panther looks confused, as if to say "Wasn't Mistico the captain here?" Yes, he was! No one remembers. Dos takes the microphone to demand revenge, but he'll have to wait for another show.

This one's over.
