CMLL FSE - 08/13/06 (#1)
Same goof troop of announcers as Guerreros del Ring. They have a different paragraph and a different microphone band, but it's the same dealio.
There's an interview with Dark Angel throughout the show, though most of it's repeated. Nothing much new here.
Match 1: Damian 666, Mr. Aguila (c), Terrible vs
Sagrado, Satanico, Volador Jr. (c)
Arena Coliseo, 08/06/06
Aguila spinning heel kick (2:44)
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:33
Approx Rating: We were really rolling there and would've had a pretty
noteworthy match with at least a good exchange at the end. Instead, one move,
and it's done. Still, Volador looked like a star. Aguila showed he probably has
more skill, but the randomness of the finish didn't help prove it.
Other Match Notes: I think this is the first match I've seen of Mr.
Aguila with his new look. Damian has a Damian 666 shirt, In case he forgets his
name, I guess. Pre-match is an interview with a cheery Terrible. Wacky eyebrow
move here. I think he makes fun of Satanico's laugh as well. He doesn't take
Volador seriously; Mr. Aguila is much better. Damian won't let Satanico in the
ring, and then they have a bit of a chase in and out of the ring. Damian grabs
the microphone away to do introductions for his team. The lineup graphics are
exactly the same.
1: Terrible and Sagrado have a nice sequence to start. Aguila comes in to take on Volador, but the ring fills with guys before they can get going. Everyone's order to back off, and Aguila dos a fair bit of taunting before they get going. Fast back and forth chain wrestling , and they get in each other's face after the zero cover spots. It doesn't go as long as I'd like, and we're onto Damian vs Satanico. This descends into a brawl quickly, and as soon as Satanico take an advantage, the rudos are rushing him. Beatdown is on. Mostly one on one, leading to the finish combo: Terrible does a slingshot on Volador, Damian kicks him back over, and Aguila adds the guillotine legdrop. That's the fall.
We get an interview with Damian between falls. No talking to the tecnicos? Unfair!
2: Beatdown continues. Damian distracts the ref and sneaks in a low blow on Satanico. They replay that, and a Águila boot which doesn't come close to hitting. Perros go for the big sit, but the tecnicos pull Terrible out as he starts to run. Volador clears Damian out of the ring with a headscissors, and then flattens him with a true suicide tope con giro - looked awesome, but Volador was dead for sure if he didn't connect. The other four come back in, with Sagrado quickly getting an up an over sunset flip on Aguila, and Satanico hitting Terrible questionably low before rolling him up for the win.
Mistico and Negro (w/Que Monito) introduce themselves as the men with the belts. Negro holds up the visual aid, but Mistico is positioned as the leader.
3: Volador starts off alone, and looks good against Aguila and Terrible. Damian tries to come in, trips over the bottom rope, rolls out, and still takes the slingshot headscissors. Sagrado in now. Sagrado gets the crowd chanting for him as he wants for someone to take him on. Terrible can dropkick! Terrible can kip up! Terrible can yell like a fool, that I figured. Exchange is just okay, but Sagrado flattens him with a big old tope. Damian tries walking the ropes with Satanico, and Satanico pulls him off to get crotched. Senton to the floor! Volador vs Aguila. Volador's pumped, and he should be. Both off the ropes, both handspring, Aguila's more spectacular with his. Volador charges, Aguila tries tilt-a-whirl, Volador slips out to his feet, Aguila hits a back heel spin kick, one two - three? That came to a screaming halt.
Vignette: Pierroth explains to us that the best wrestling in the world is not WWE and not AAA, but CMLL.
Match 2: Mascara Año 2000, Pierroth, Ultimo Guerrero
(c) vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Hijo de Lizmark, Rey Bucanero (c)
Arena Coliseo, 08/06/06
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:38
Approx Rating: Interesting only when Rey and Ultimo were in.
Other Match Notes: Pierroth dyed his hair blue. I wanted to do that at
one time, and I think Pierroth is showing me the error of my ways. Bizarre to
see Mascara wearing yellow and red. That's the wrong Mascara's colors! Ultimo's
entrance is clipped for some reason.
Pre-match interview: Magadan welcomes us to the first show on Fox Sports Español, and has quite the buddy buddy chat with Ultimo Guerrero. Ultimo explains that he's on a different level than everyone else, especially the tecnicos. Why is Ultimo wearing a Holland shirt? Rey's going down.
Lizmark is wearing white, which is unusual. Everyone got new outfits for the debut? Nah. Rey comes out second, and makes it three steps before Ultimo rushes him and works him over. He's using different music than normal. He's using different music than usual, but Wagner is still using the normal version of Bad Medicine. Wagner takes the time to shake hands and hold babies high up in the air (thus scaring their mom!) on his way to the ring. He's got a sign to hold up too. Wagner has a very short interview, and then we see Ultimo rip up the sign and laugh at those who made it. I guess Rey and Ultimo stopped fighting.
1: There's definitely some clipping - we pick up with Rey reaching over the ropes to grab at Ultimo, and Ultimo not coming in. So the tecnicos all pose instead. Yea, we missed some opening exchange for sure. Wagner screws around with Mascara Año 2000. There's some staling here which could've got cut out, and then they do basic run the ropes bits and general goofiness. I mean, Wagner's selling a hammerlock in a fun way, but it's a hammerlock. Pierroth comes in and helps not at all. Mascara takes a big Pierroth slap, and then Pierroth takes a backdrop bump and (sorta) a dropkick one. Wagner ludicrously baits Mascara and Pierroth into fighting each other for a moment, but it doesn't go anywhere. Rey and Ultimo in, and Rey's all fired up. Crowd chants for Rey as he and Ultimo have a prolonged discussion. The announcers fill in the backstory - maybe that's why they have to stand there for quite a while. Ultimo compare taunts. Finally, they wrestle, and Ultimo drops Rey with a clothesline. Ultimo soaks in the moment while Mascara Año 2000 gets in a cheap shot from outside. BUC A NER O. Chop by Ultimo. Whip, clothesline misses, Rey comes back with a clothesline, it's blocked, Rey slips out of a slam and sent Ultimo out with a headscissors. Rey rushes for a dive - but Pierroth back elbows him out of the ring. The other four in, and bad holds take place. Rudos take the fall with unconvincing finishes.
2: In full beatdown mood. Ultimo organizes the troops for the flying sit, and insists on Mascara Año running. It works, barely, and Wagner takes the sit. Lizmark in, and he takes the corner moves. Pierroth is not a good runner. Ultimo finishes with the headstand sit. Rey bought in by his hair. Ultimo slaps him around, and then kicks him in the head. Wagner tries to help out, and is kicked off the apron. Ultimo takes him and Rey out with a big running clothesline. That leaves the other two with Wagner, who tries to hit and move, and eventually ducks a double clothesline to turn the tide. Lizmark works over Pierroth with some horrible strikes, and Rey quickly hits his finish. Rey decides, since we've got some time, to go after the mask. Wagner gets some revenge on Mascara, and I think someone threw in a belt for Lizmark to use on Pierroth. That seems a bit harsh for him.
3: Flying sit to the back on Ultimo, check. People go back to their corners for the first time in a couple of falls, and we're treated to a Lizmark/Pierroth exchange. It is quite not good. Mascara gets Lizmark down in the hold, so Wagner gets to hit the big kick to break it up. Wagner gets in the sunset roll thru dropkick spot, and it's his turn for a submission. Ultimo breaks up Wagner's half crab, spinebusters him down, and hooks on the stretch muffler - it seems like that's it for Wagner, but he comes back in later, so I guess not! Ultimo must've just let go because he saw Rey come in. Ultimo and Rey get into a wild brawl - probably throwing far more than hitting, but going all out with both fists until they get too much in the ropes. Rey corner whip, Ultimo reverses and charges in, Rey moves, Ultimo takes the knee bump to the floor, and Rey drops him with a slingshot tope con giro. Other four in. Wagner gets a spinebuster on Pierroth and cover with Wagner (and Pierroth's, I think) feet obviously on the ropes, Lizmark small packages Mascara Año 200 one two three.
Lizmark and Wagner work harder in the post match celebration - completely with random jumping jacks - than they did for much of the match. Rey, on the other hand, is half dead. The fans chant for Wagner.
That's it for show #1.
