CMLL GDR - 07/01/06 (#32)
Magadan spends the open flirting with Shara.
We get a reoccurring interview with Satanico. I think they talk about his role as a trainer here.
Match 1: Emilio Charles Jr., Misterioso II, Pierroth
(c) vs
Blue Panther (c), Brazo de Oro, Satanico
Arena Coliseo, 06/25/06
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 7:32
Approx Rating: Standard forgettable.
Other Match Notes:
Misterioso way too young to be in this match, but strangely has
"Sandman" for his music. Brazo de Oro is here replacing Brazo de Plata.
Pierroth's dyed his hair blond and
it was a terrible decision. Pierroth: "VIVA ARGENTINA!" Hahahaha.
Even the valets laugh at that one. Brazo de Oro is using the Loony Tunes music.
Rudos jump tecnicos as Blue Panther enters.
1: Clip during graphic introductions? Hard to tell. Still in the same beatdown stage, that's for sure. Pierroth holds down Satanico for the other two to kick and punch, and it's not too clear if that's it for him. Brazo de Oro takes corner clotheslines till they pin him. They're calling the fall, so I must've missed them calling Satanico done earlier. Break.
Talking to the fans.
2: Beatdown still on, though panther gets a little bit of Misterioso till Emilio helps out. The ring girl is way late out. Nothing interesting, a lot of holding the guy near the ropes with a little punching and a little choking. Emilio still has a good punch. This match could be fun with the same people, but it's not quite happening. Focus on Satanico and Pierroth. Satanico ducks a double clothesline and Pierroth takes it to start the comeback. Lot of revenge brawling with the odd tilt-a-whirl backbreaker thrown in. Pierroth gamely does nothing, and we watching him do nothing for an extended period. It's supposed to build to Brazo de Oro getting him with a sliding dropkick, but Pierroth just takes a leisurely rollup the ramp to sell it, safely going to one knee. Misterioso takes a three on one, ending with Satanico's standing figure four pin. Panther sets up Emilio with a tilt-a-whirl, and Oro's sit isn't impressive after seeing Brazo doing it. Pierroth begs off in the corner rather than get beat, and the refs prevent Satanico from doing any more.
3: Misterioso is being dragged to the ring as the fall starts. Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on the outside; I like how that somehow hurts more. Pierroth works Satanico over with punches, and sets him up for a Brazo de Oro corner charge. Panther adds a dropkick a and Satanico bumps him out of the ring. The tecnicos in this match are doing their version of a rudo beatdown. Misterioso takes the corner clotheslines. Emilio gets in a shot on everyone before he stops to pose. Brazo de Oro slaps him so hard, Emilio's gum comes out of his mouth - so Brazo de Oro picks it up, puts it in Emilio's moth, and slaps him again. Corner charges for him, with Panther adding the questionably low blow dropkick. Panther actually got to do a mat wrestling move (!!!!) with a nice drop toe hold into a leg grab into an Anaconda Vice (of all things.) That's the end of Pierroth, and Panther leaves it on till they give him a five count and then some. Satanico is eventually able to talk him into letting go. That was an odd ending.
Interview: A girl says her favorite luchador is Atlantis - so they take her
to meet him.
Interview: Ultimo Guerrero and Atlantis talk about what a bad guy Rey Bucanero
is, I guess.
Match 2: Atlantis (c), Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero vs Mistico (c), Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero
Arena Coliseo, 06/25/06
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:56
Approx Rating: Crowd was into it, but that's the main difference between
this one and the other one
Other Match Notes: Tecnicos get jumped. Don't look shocked. Rey's
switched to once of Black Warrior's billion themes. The girls run and scream
when Ultimo comes their way and decks Rey. That's pretty funny. Mistico gets
thrown down coming out the ramp, and seems more annoyed that he couldn't take
one step into the arena more than anything.
1: Crowd loud for Mistico. All rudo Beatdown. They switch to a Bucanero chant when he's being worked over 1 on 3. GdI do the old set up to the Castiga, with a Tarzan middle rope legdrop instead. Ultimo rudely dropkicks him to the floor. New spot where Negro and Rey are given drop toe holds facing each other, so Tarzan can dropkick them both at once. All three tecnicos are miraculously tied up for the triple submission and Tarzan pose on top of the pile. Break.
2: Atlantis is wearing a yellow mask to match the black/yellow tights, but it's still weird to see Atlantis wearing something besides blue. Mistico's mask is untied, and Ultimo's dragging him around by it as we return. Crowd's behind Mistico, still. He takes the corner clotheslines and Ultimo headstand sit. Rey in and telling the rudos to bring it. They do, and eventually he's hurt from the chops. Talking too long to him, bad sign. Corner whip, Ultimo charges in, Rey's out of the way. Double clothesline to Tarzan and Atlantis, and Negro in with boots for everyone, and Mistico in with a springboard 'rana which sends Ultimo spinning. Negro sets up Ultimo for the Mistico 619, followed by the Rey sit on the back. Ultimo goes out, and Mistico dives after him with tornillo. Negro is right behind him with silla on Tarzan. That leaves Rey in the ring. Atlantis meets him, tripping over the bottom rope on the way in! Atlantis fights the bottom rope a bit, then charges at Rey. Bodyscissors cradle, one two three. They actually show the ref who isn't counting the pin, which is a bit confusing. Rey bounces Atlantis around a little bit more while we watch replays.
3: Rey's untying Ultimo's mask as the fall starts. Mistico works over Atlantis in the outside, when Atlantis isn't too busy posing and hiding. Crowd chanting for Bucanero. After they have a crowd support contest, Ultimo gets Atlantis to help him attack Rey. Double corner whip, Ultimo charges into Rey's boots, Rey charges out and gets a headscissors/armdrags on them both. Rey ducks a double clothesline and gives Ultimo a spinning armdrags out. Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for Atlantis,, who gets up and gets knocked own by a punch. Tarzan leaves Rey with a forearm when he thinks he has the ring cleared, an, sand stomps down his former partner. Tarzan grabs Rey, and looks around for - something. Knees while he's waiting. Now Tarzan throws Rey out, but Rey pulls himself in and dropkicks Tarzan out. Rey fakes the dive and does the forearm taunt some more. Tags - Ultimo and Mistico. Crowd behind Mistico, yes. Mistico off the ropes, and tossed down by Ultimo. Whip, Mistico over, tumbling run, back with a spinning headscissors. Ultimo goes out on that, and Atlantis takes his place. Atlantis tries to get the crowd to rally to him - ah, no. Mistico off the ropes, twisting headscissors. Atlantis' punch is blocked, Mistico kicks him up a couple times before a walking up the ropes spinning armdrag. Mistico teased the dive, and then a slingshot headscissors on Ultimo anyways. Pose. Negro's turn, taking on Tarzan. Crowd chanting for Negro as Tarzan poses and laughs as usual. Strike battle ends up with Tarzan getting the edge via forearm. High fives for his partners. Corner whip, Tarzan right behind with a clothesline. Tarzan poses a bit, off, the ropes, Negro dropkicks him in the thigh. Negro poses, and Ultimo is on after him - shoulderblock, clothesline, Negro barely standing up. Ultimo just glares at Negro while he tries to keep his balance. Off the ropes, clothesline again, Negro back bends under, and gets Ultimo with the dropkick to the knee. Negro retreats to his corner, but comes back out with Atlantis takes Ultimo's place in the ring. Dropkick on Atlantis misses, Atlantis shoulderblocks Negro, runs towards Rey as he enters in the ring, bodyscissors is blocked - and just stays there because they have to wait for the other finishes to happen, and they're a few seconds behind. That's just weird to look at them paused in position. Negro get the Majistral on Ultimo, though they're in the ropes, and Mistico then gets La Mistico on Tarzan. Rey finally finishes a gentle Buca Strom on Atlantis, and that's the triple finish.
Rey cuts the post match interview, but my tape ends early on. That's it.
