CMLL GDR - 05/05/06 (#24)
Recapped: 05/14/06
This is the kid's day show. There's a ton of kids there, and you can hear it in every chant. Through the show, we get pieces of a LA Park interview, and we get a whole one at the end of the show too.
Leobardo talks with the Guerreros. Ultimo believes they're the Kings of Arena Mexico. Rey shows off Olimpico's abs. Rey points out he still has his ponytail.
Match 1: Olimpico, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero (c) vs
Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata (c), Virus
Arena Mexico, 04/30/06
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:33
Approx Rating: Fun. Good for the setting.
Other Match Notes: No entrances.
Porky and Ultimo start with mat wrestling. Ultimo is better than Kane. Porky is better than Kane. Rey and Pantera re next, and Panther reacts like he's surprised to get a chant. They're a little bit faster doing chain wrestling. Olimpico and Virus are last, so Olimpico can note the size difference. Virus tries the sunset flip roll thru and pays for it, like everyone should. He comes back with a middle rope headscissors that sends Olimpico out. Rey comes in, eager to face Virus, but not so much when Virus tags in Porky. Crowd loves Porky. Rey slaps him a few times and Porky starts crying, but he outsmarts all the rudo double teams. Porky belly bumps them in the corner, and Porky kills them (especially Olimpico) with the Bronco Buster. Panther wants it one more time, but the rudos wisely bail out of the crooner. The tecnicos have no problem talking them down. Panther gets a small package on Ultimo (5:06) and Virus gives Olimpico a nudo drop. (5:10) Poor Rey has to take the Porky middle rope splash. Replays. When we come back, Ultimo is ripping up someone's sign, though the tecnicos try to stop him. I think it was "Super Porky For President" sign.
Vignette: Brazo de Plata gets mobbed by kids.
Panther is beating Ultimo and Rey 1 on 2 as we return. Both guys get sent out, Olimpico comes in, and Panther has an odd manner of backdropping him over. Odd but effective. Panther teases a dive, but holds up at the last second. Virus and Rey in next - but only for seconds before the rudos decide it's time for a beatdown. Porky quickly a modified version of the GdI sit on the ramp - they don't (can't?) lift him up and hold him, so it's just a sit on the ropes. Back in the ring, Rey tosses Panther up and Ultimo powerbombs him down - that's it for him. (1:29) They waste no time setting up Virus, holding him for Olimpico to add a springboard splash. That's the fall. (1:49) Replays.
Vignette: Heavy Metal talks about life when he was a kid. It sounds like an embarrassing story about Negro Casa, which is the way to go.
Beatdown still going on. Panther gets the in-ring version of the GdI sit. Virus takes the Bucanero Castigo. Porky in and trying to fight back with chops, but it's not happening. He does seem to be having fun slapping people in the face. Virus is brought in, and Rey holds him in one corner so Porky can be whipped into him - but Virus moves, yanking Rey in his place, and Porky splashes Rey. Comeback is on. Virus just bull rushes Olimpico out, which is weight. Ultimo takes the knee bump to the floor, and Porky goes to the apron - Porky dive! Virus and Rey in, whip is reversed, by slide out, and Rey lures Virus in line for a Olimpico tope con giro! Panther tope on Olimpico! Rey and Ultimo in, Ultimo drops down so Rey can do the monkey flip tope con giro onto the pile. Ultimo and Porky in the ring, and Porky's telling Ultimo to go dive onto the pile! I don't think he's falling for it, but he's checking the people. Ultimo rushes Porky instead, waved by, oh no a sunset flip - SQUASH. Ultimo's dead. (2:34)
Vignette: "Smooth Criminal" by Alien Ant Farm plays to introduce a kid falling asleep after marking out over seeing the PdM in a magazine. A clown (we're giving his phone number - I guess he does birthdays and dream sequences) guides the kid thru his dream, where they end up in Arena Mexico, meeting Perros del Mal. (Linkin Park plays here - hey, Guerreros del Ring, 2003 wants it's alternative music back.) Why is this kid wearing one glove? HUG FROM PERRO. Damián beats the clown. The clown has a lock for Hector (like an actual pad lock), but Hector gets him in a Boston crab. The clown fights Mr. Aguila with a giant hammer - if you ever see a clown fighting with a giant hammer, it better be a dram sequence. They do the giant swing/dropkick to the head spot. Perro, who's too big to be fighting in this segment, does contribute a double stomp. The clown is dead. And that's all we see of the dream.
Vignette: Perro Aguayo gets mobbed by kids. They start to go for the takedown, but sadly we don't get to see the result.
Vignette: Negro Casas tells a story about being kid. This doesn't seem to involve Heavy Metal.
Match 2: Damian 666, Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila, Hijo del
Perro Aguayo (c) vs Heavy Metal, LA Park, Mistico (c), Negro Casas
Arena Mexico, 04/30/06
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 16:33
Approx Rating: All angle by the end
Other Match Notes: Everyone's entered by the time we pick up, and
Mistico and Perro are facing off on the stage.
When we pick up after the match graphics, the Perros are completely in control. Negro takes a valaguesa from Damián in here, but I don't' think Damian bother to pin him. Perro's concentrating on untying Mistico's mask, and Hector has to knock La Park away from him. Perro gets the mask all the way off, and Mistico has to hold it on. When that goes nowhere, Perro leaves him to be beat by the others and attacks Heavy Metal, who looks thin all of the sudden. La Park tries to help out, but really just grabs Mr. Aguila's backside and stares at him. AWKWARD. Giant swing/dropkick spot is actually a complete whiff on the dropkick, oops. That kind of sloppy execution is why they're bald. Damián holds Mistico over his knees for the Perro running stomp, and that's a quick fall. (2:19) The kids are not on the Perros side here.
oh no not Fired Up 2! I can't handle it.
Vignette: Mistico talks about being a kid, you know, five minutes ago. No, I think he just talks to the kids here.
Tecnicos are still getting beat - Negro takes a running knee to the face, but that at least allows his brother to crawl to safety. Mistico comes back in, because he's quite the optimist. Mr. Aguila pres slams him onto Garza's knee. Negro rush back in to cover him up, and LA park is in too, though he's not so clear. He just kinda stands there, and then we get a clip, and then Perro is press slamming Mistico on the guardrail, so huh. Park does break this up from going any further, so okay. There are some fans cheering Perro, particularly the ones on camera in this short. Perros are still in complete control. Mr. Aguila beats down Heavy Metal on the outside. Mistico is thrown in, and Park is beat down on the ramp as the announcers wonder who's sign Park is on. You know, they either need to change the hard cam angle (not happening) or have production/security/whatever people stop walking around on the stage during matches, because it's extremely distracting. Mistico's trying to come back in and fight some more, but Negro tells him NO and insist on taking a turn. He gets been down and gets a good view of Hector taking off his shirt - they force Negro in it, and block Heavy Metal from helping out. Mistico tries to fight back, but he's kept on the apron. Mr. Aguila hold him in place, so Negro can be decimated by a dropkick/kick to the head combo. Park in, and he rips the shirt off Negro, throwing in the crowd. Perro forearms him for doing such a thing. The announcers think Park's loco at this time. Negro sent out, Metal in to try and take on Perro. The moment he dos, Hector is on him and so are the others. Perro goes nuts and starts a fight with the turnbuckle before Hector settles him down. Metal gets tripped up in the corner and crotched around the post. Park and Mistico are on the apron, and Park doesn't seem eager to get in the ring. He and Mistico have words about it, and Park doesn't like Mistico telling him what to do. Negro comes over and settles it down, with Park going in, but being distracted by the argument - and the fans booing him for arguing with Mistico - that he's forearm from behind. Hector pleads innocence when he turns around who sees who did it, and then Perro and Hector beat him down anyway. Double hiptoss for him, and Park starts to roll out. Before he does, Mistico is on to chest slap both guys, who are surprised. And then they're not, and they beat down Mistico. Mistico whipped into the ropes, springboard crossbody caught, tossed behind, but Mistico lands on his feet, and he and Park clothesline Garza and Perro. Aguila and Damián clothesline them, but Negro and Metal clothesline the rudos. All eight men are in the ring, each on one side, and the rudos all throw clotheslines, but the tecnicos don't go down (even Mistico - though he slips to one knee.) The rudos try it again, the tecnicos duck under the clotheslines, and then all hit moves on the next pass: Mistico 'ranas Perro, Heavy over head belly to belly suplexes Damian, Park bodyscissors rolls Garza, Negro takes down Aguila and puts him in a sharpshooter. They're all done at once. (5:48)
With Hector and Perro hanging around on the ramp, Damian and Mistico start the third fall - well, for five seconds, before Mr. Aguila interferes. Mistico gets tossed but lands on his feet on the apron, and springboards back into a twisting headscissors on Damian, sending him onto the ropes. Mr. Aguila's tripped into position as well, and Mistico lands the double 619. Double dropkick sends those two sliding out, and Mistico dropkicks Perro to the floor while we're at it. Is there a clip here? There's a big sound jump to boos for LA Park, and everyone's in a different position. Heavy shakes his hand anyway, but Park is clearly angry about the boos. He stops in mid strut because of the boos (though he pauses before the boos start, probably drawing them on purpose.) Park cross his arms and stares at the crowd, allowing Hector to get the jump on him. Park still fights the rudos, but they're booing him completely now. When Perro keeps punching the PdM members, Hector walks him over to a Neutron corner to work over. Hector gets distracted by Heavy Metal, allowing Park to turn it around, but the crowd boos him before even chopping. Park goes through a lot of gestures to tell the fans he doesn't need them and doesn't care about them anymore. Garza then gets chest slaps, and MR. Aguila gets one for coming too close. Park struts and damages Garza like normal. Park headscissors Garza to a corner, and armdrags Perro all over the place when he comes in, finishing with a tilt-a-whirl backwater which actually gets the crowd back on his side. Perro's set up on the top rope, but before Park does anything, Hector punches him form behind to stop him. Park drops to the mat, fights back, and sends Hector head first into Perro's crotch. Park get a double dropkick to the knee on the other two, and faceslams for them. STRUT - no, they're booing, so he won't finish it. Park tells the crowd okay, walks to the apron, and punches Mistico in the nose on the way out. Park tries play it as an accident, but Mistico isn't hearing it, and Mistico's right. Park walks back in the ring, and watches Perro poses in the corner, taking off his shirt. Perro tosses his shirt in the crowd. Park tries to talk something over with Perro, but Perro chest slaps him, so Park chest slaps him back. Park grabs Perro and tells Mistico to go up and do something, Mistico tentatively does, Perro moves, Park catches Mistico, and struts him back over to the apron. Mistico doesn't quite appreciate it. Perro dropkick park out, and Negro takes his place. Perro tries to rush Negro out, but Negro moves, and out goes Perro. Negro does his silla, Perro moves, and Park catches another one of his partners. Park doesn't exactly gently drop Negro, but he doesn't kill him either. While they argue about it, Perro (kinda) catches Negro with a silla of his own, sending him into the crowd. Meanwhile, Hector has Mistico in the crowd. Mistico rallies back with a twisting headscissors to send Hector out, and tope to follow. Aguila and Damián work over Metal, Mr. Aguila landing a big spin kick. Metal tries for a double handspring back elbow, but the rudos move, and then pin Metal. (6:52) Park back in, and he realizes all four rudos are now in the ring. Park back up, grabs Negro from the outside, and pulls him in. Park then walks in between the tecnicos, and does a back bump - I guess he's giving himself up here. (7:09) PdM are like "uh, okay" and quickly get a multi-man submission on Negro for the win. (7:26) Mistico comes back in to prevent anything more being done to Negro, but of course that means they beat up Mistico instead. Mistico's taken out of the ring, and then pressed in the ring. Metal is trying to figure out what's up with Park, while Perro takes Mistico's mask for himself. Now Park's back in and covering up Mistico, much too late. What the heck, man.
Interview with LA Park: He seems to be taking the "I work hard, I'm still a tecnico, it's the fans who have gone wrong, I don't know what's going on."
Interview with Perro: He shows off his new Mistico mask, makes fun of that announcer's suit, and shows off PdM's valet.
That's it.
