CMLL Mini Line - 03.11.06 (#214)
Recapped: 03.12.06
Welcome To The Show Vignette: Los Perros, promising a win in the atomicos later.
Match 1: Arkangel, Dr. X (c), Mr. Mexico vs Virus (c), Tony Rivera, Trueno
Arena Coliseo, 10/11/05
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:46
Approx Rating: 80-ish. Good, outside of that last finish and the clipping
Other Match Notes: Entrances are clipped out - you could see them in an
open. Trueno is wearing a silver mask here, as opposed to the black mask he'd
use usually later. (Maybe there's restrictions on who can wear silver?) Ark and
Tony battles over arm and leg holds. Tony has a nice weird rollup, and Ark does
a good job of reversing it. Crowd doesn't seem entirely into the match. Tags to
Virus and Dr. X. Dr. X bends Virus backwards with a headscissors on the mat, but
Virus is able to slip free. Virus gets a near fall on a half crab. Dr. X gets
the ropes, and tags are made. Trueno flips in, and Mr. Mexico clotheslines him
down. Lots of strikes from Mr. Mexico. Trueno does a nice job of turning a
backdrop into an armdrag, but they have trouble making a flip spot look good.
Trueno has a nice rolling reverse tope, and a good tope out of the ring on Mr.
Mexico. Virus and Tony bounce Ark around, leading to a Tony 'rana. (4:47)
and Virus reverses a Dr. X inside cradle to the Rings of Virus. (4:50)
Break.
Ark & Tony start the second fall. Ark face first powerbombs Tony when he's going for a corner headscissors, but Tony rallies back with a faceslam, armdrag, and teases a dive. Announcer are talking about Mil Mascara vs The Mummy for reasons I can't explain. Dr. X and Virus in, with Dr. x taking a monkey flip onto the ropes, and getting dropkicked back in by Virus. Arkangel goes after Virus, takes him out of the ring, but gets posted and a spinning headscissors on the floor. Trueno in, and this time Mr. Mexico isn't in right after him, so he doesn't get killed. MR. Mexico ants a handshake - no, it was just a feint to kick him. Trueno takes a spinebuster, and a eh clothesline. Backdrop. Trueno's sent out of the ring. Dr. X comes in to help Mexico beat up Tony, and the beatdown is on. Virus ends up taking a missile dropkick. All the tecnicos get brought in. Dr. X keeps Virus down with a face yank chinlock. Mr. Mexico powerbombs Tony quite hard to pin him (3:24) and Arkangel gets his usual upside down double armbar to end Trueno. (3:22) Replays. Break.
Virus is trying his a one man comeback when we return, but it doesn't last too long. We look at the crowd, and back at the ring, and now all the tecnicos are coming back. That's a bad clip. Things settle with Ark and Tony in the ring, though Tony gets tripped up and we have another crowd shot. Dr. X has gotten involved when we return, he misses his senton Tony, Trueno adds a slingshot splash on him, Mr. Mexico breaks that up at two. Virus in and grabbing Mr. Mexico in a bodyscissors rollup one two NO. Virus's clothesline gets caught and turned into a full nelson, but Virus drops down to slip free and gets another rollup one two NO. Mr. Mexico takes a look at the crowd, and charges in to a fireman's carry. Before Virus can hook on his submission, Dr. X breaks it up. Corner whip for Virus,. Dr. X charges, Virus moves, and Dr. X gets the post. Virus is running to and up the corner of a dive when we get another crowd shot - and turn back to see TONY doing a dive. Huh. I guess Virus either slipped or stopped when Tony got his man. Mr. Mexico's behind him now and climbing up, but, Trueno's behind him - springboard sunset flip bomb on Mr. Mexico for two, Virus twisting cross body on Ark for two! Trueno tries a 'rana and it goes completely wrong - Mr. Mexico puts himself into the move after a delay and that's improbably enough for three. (2:31) Virus does a lot better job of going from an armdrag on Ark straight into a small package, but sadly, they were only showing that one in the background. (2:32) On the outside, Dr. X charges Tony and gets put up into the Gory Special - Tony's running around the ring when him up there as we go away from the match.
Vignette: Jose Luis Felicanio talks about training CMLL wrestlers. I spot Tigre Metalico and Ryu Taguchi among the many people shown in clips here. Tony Salazar talks as well. They mention training the CMLL guys and the working relationship with New Japan.
Match 2: Tarzan Boy (c), Averno, Mephisto, vs Ultimo Dragon, Hijo de Lizmark (c), Negro Casas
Arena Mexico, 10/14/05
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:02
Approx Rating: Good.
Other Match Notes: No entrances. Lizmark may be the captain but Negro's
the one they're chanting for.
Ultimo and Mephisto start it off. The Assassins have extra bizarre looking white/granite masks this week. Dragon out speeds Mephisto to armdrags, there's a crowd shot, and we return at the end of a Lizmark/Tarzan exchange. Long crowd shot again, and then they're trading strikes. Averno lands a kick catch enziguri and celebrates, but Negro fires up and heel kicks him down. Back to chest slaps, and Averno taking Negro down with knees and stomps. Off the ropes, Negro rushes after him with a kneelift. Negro stops Averno down in the corner, and gives him the square dropkick to the face for three. (2:52) Mephisto gets in nothing on Dragon, and Dragon easily gets the Asai DDT. (3:03) Tarzan walks off rather than deal with Lizmark. Replays and ads for upcoming shows.
Dragon and Mephisto again start, this time the second fall. Mephisto actually gets in a couple shots, but can't unhook Dragon from the ropes to whip him. When he finally does, Dragon grabs the other ropes and stops quick, the better to elbow drop him. Mephisto tries a corner whip, Dragon has trouble kipping out but still makes it sorta work, and then hits a WOW crossbody the other way. Mephisto's kick gets caught, and Dragon sweeps the leg. Kick catch enziguri, and three kick combo to knock him down. Tags to Lizmark and Tarzan, who first stops to check on his partner, and doesn't realize who he's facing till it's too late. Time for the pose off. Strike battle, with Tarzan winning, only for Lizmark to spinaroonie up. Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, check. Superkick, check. That's it for them. Rudos regroup on the outside, calling a timeout. Replay of the superkick, which caught Tarzan directly on the side of the head. Negro in and waiting for Averno. There he is. Mephisto is immediately in to help start a beatdown. Everyone throws Negro around by his hair. Negro's held up in a double underhook by Tarzan for the other two to strike. Ultimo in and trying to kick. Tarzan mocks him with the crane pose, and that distracts him long enough for the other two to get on top of him. Triple boot for him. Lizmark in, and he takes a triple pump powerbomb and a legdrop, splash and headbutt drop combo. That'll do. (4:37) No replays, no break, just crowd shots till the third fall starts.
Beatdown still on. Negro gets crotched on the post. Tarzan is beating Lizmark with a thunderstick! Rudos make it back to the ring to work over Ultimo Dragon. Corner whip, corner clothesline, corner clothesline, corner punch. Tarzan's going to do a little bit more, adding a suplex, and holing him in position for the double top rope swandive headbutts. Crowd yelling at the rudos, and Averno yells back. They clip out the comeback (TWO FOR TWO!) and ahead to Mephisto working over Negro. Mephisto actually manages to armdrags Negro out but Negro screws around with him. Negro preposterously ends up getting whipped up to the apron, and Mephisto stands there dumbfounded as Negro comes back with la Silla. Averno and Dragon fighting now, and Dragon ends up giving him a hiptoss to the floor. There's the Asai Moonsault. Captains in. and Tarzan lands a big spinebuster for two. Pump handle, shoulder slam, cover one two NO. Tarzan doesn't like that count and is letting the ref know. Tarzan tries a clothesline, Lizmark grabs him by the arm, spinning side slam, one two three. (3:22) That's the match.
Stellar Moments
Lance: Safari decks Okumura with a tope. It's quite the violent looking
collusion
Castigo: La Flecha with a nice top rope elbow drop on Stuka Jr.
Sensational: Stuka Jr. moonsault to the floor on Super Comando
Spectacular: Nitro with a tope con giro on Texano.
Tecnico: Wagner's tope con giro off the ramp onto Tarzan
Match 3: Perro Aguayo Jr. (c), Mr. Aguila, Halloween,
Damian 666 vs Universo 2000 (c), Mascara Año 2000, Apolo Dantes, Pierroth
Arena Mexico, 10/14/05
Winner: Perros (1-0-2)
Match Time: 8:05
Approx Rating: All a crazy brawl.
Other Match Notes: Perros are in quite a good mood heading to the ring.
Halloween's hair is crazy spiky. Halloween takes his shirt off before the match
- this must be serious! Of course, they rush other team as they make their way
out - Universo doesn't even make it down the stairs. The advantage goes to the
team who's using a cane.
It's a complete brawl, just as you'd expect, and the Perros are firmly in control. They're letting Damian use the cane in the ring, at least till they can get it away from him. La Nazi is out on a delay. Damian tosses the cane to Mr. Aguila so FdT can hit their triple legdrop on Apolo. Universo is held by the other three for Perro to go nuts on him, and Perro indeed goes nuts, swinging at everything till his partners calm himself down. Damian holds Universo over his knees and Perro crushes him with a second rope double stomp. All the other Capos/Pierroth rush Perro immediately after, with Apolo getting him in a powerslam, and both sides cover the opposing captains for stereo pins. (1:50) That's a draw, much to everyone's complete confusion. Everyone argues while Perro and Universo recover. Break.
Mixed brawl to start the second fall, though it appears the Capos are in control. Flashback to last week, where La Nazi gave Universo the metal pipe, only for Perro to end up using it Universo for the win. Perro's nailing Halloween in the face with his belt, which can't be fun. Somehow, he ended up with a shirt again. FdT get the belt form Pierroth and use it on him, including Halloween getting those face shots back. Pierroth ducks one blow and Halloween nails his partner. Halloween and Pierroth chop each other, Damian tries tope Pierroth but gets his partner. La Nazi comes over to congratulate him, Perro tries to get a silla on Pierroth, Pierroth ducks and La Nazi takes it. In the ring, Apolo teases a dive on FdT, but they pull him out and beat him. It's getting chaotic - Perro posts Pierroth, Mascara topes FdT., Mr. Aguila adds a tope con giro on all of them that might have hit none of them. Universo goes to add his own dive, but Perro crotches him and knocks him to the floor, before jumping on top with a stomp. Everyone's brawling outside and the refs are showing dedication to a twenty count here. Halloween gets whipped hard into the announced desk by Apolo. There's the counting again - they're going to get to twenty - they did! (DCO 3:00) Wrestlers are still fighting and completely unaware. I think Pierroth just spit beer at Halloween. Pierroth dents the front of the announce desk with Halloween's body. They're still fighting, more than a minute after the match is over, and I don't think they've realized it. Halloween's now beating pup people with a picture. Perro's throwing dropkicks into the crow to get Pierroth. Pierroth's finally realized someone should come in, and he's finding out the match is long over. They're still fighting into the crowd. There's a third fall?
Yes, because there's a card girl and there's a whistle. I wasn't sure if we were at 2-2 or 1-1, but it's effectively the later. Brawl goes on, with no one particularly in the ring, and they could be on the way to another double countout. Perros are teasing walking out, but that means the Capos have at least come in the ring. Perros opt to return, and Universo wants everyone to clear out so he can have Perro. They brawl, with Perro taking a big bump off a kick but coming back to hit a dropkick. Fans are divided, but agree on booing with Mascara comes into break it up. The match switches to Halloween vs Mascara, with Halloween gets spear for a two count. Damián comes into help his partner, Damian tries to springboard off Halloween's back into a 'rana, Mascara blocks it and powerbombs Damian onto his partner! Halloween rolls out and Mascara works in his partner, ending up sending him out on a waistlock spin only to be immediately knocked out by a Mr. Aguila superkick. Apolo into take him, but Aguila is too fast - sunset flip is broken up by Pierroth. Pierroth works him over with chops, as we look at the crowd and miss Mr. Aguila flipping. Crowd boos them loudly. Double whip on Mr. Aguila, Apolo tosses him up into a bad dropkick on Pierroth, but what are you going to do. Apolo with a whip, Aguila ducks under and hits the spinning heel kick. Aguila is pumped. Tag to Perro, but he gets dropped by a Universo clothesline to the back of the head at the same time. Crowd seems more behind Perro than Universo, and both guys react to it. Perro backdrops Universo and is all over him with stomps. Clothesline knocks Universo down. Universo ducks a punch and blatantly low blow kicks him. He tries to cover, but the refs won't count, much to the Capos confusion. Yea, it's a DQ. (DQ 3:15) Apolo threatens referee violence, but I'm not sure how they thought they would get away with that one. Universo gets a microphone and yells at the crowd a bit. Universo says his group is the greater rudos, and we leave it at that.
We return with Perro retorting and getting the crowd behind him. It's the Perro's house. Capos take that badly and the fight is on again. Security has to show up and yank Universo and Mascara out of the ring, which doesn't work well when the Perros are still attacking them. Pierroth gets in some belt shots on Mr. Aguila before he and Apolo walk off. Replays of dives and the finish.
Match 4: Atlantis vs Mistico
Arena Mexico, 10/14/05
Winner: Mistico (2-1)
Match Time: 13:31
Approx Rating: Atlantis carried this. Mistico was looking distressingly
off.
Other Match Notes: Atlantis' entrance is clipped out, but Mistico's is not,
because Atlantis is out to face him. Mistico jumps off the steps for a plancha
on Atlantis, but then ends up taking a backdrop on the ramp. That's no fun. Slam
on the ramp! Atlantis takes it in the ring as the whistle blows to start the
match.
Slam, and Atlantis is in no hurry. Whip, Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Atlantis wants the belt. Another tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Ke Monito is in the corner, wearing an Atlantis hook, and Atlantis till yells at him. Powerbomb for Mistico. Monito want no part of this, and Atlantis can't understand. Atlantis wants him to splash Monito, and when he won't, Atlantis tosses him down on Mistico. Monito angrily leaves. Atlantis comes after him, asking what's wrong, but Monito wants nothing to do with him. Atlantis turns back to the match, angry that his little fan has left him. Mistico's thrown back onto the ramp. Forearm. Forearm. Whip into the ropes, back for a tilt-a-whirl, Mistico lands on his feet. Drop toe hold into the ropes, 619 outside in. Atlantis stumbles to the floor, Mistico in the ring, up top, and a plancha on top of him. Replay of the move as both recover. Mistico back in first, Atlantis charges him, and Mistico immediately gets La Mistica. That's that (3:09) There are some boos mixed in, but they seem to be a small segment. Replay of the events leading to Monito's walkout, Mistico's dive and the finish.
Atlantis kicks Mistico down to start the second fall. Corner whip, corner clothesline. Mistico's refusing to give up. Whip, Mistico with a cartwheel into a pointless flip (which ends up accidentally being a belly flop and the crowd lets him know about - Mistico's up quick) and Atlantis clotheslines him down. Big flapjack. Atlantis kindly asks the ref to beg off. Whip, Mistico tossed high in the air, and comes down with a a last second armdrags. Atlantis shoves Mistico into the ropes, Mistico back with a spinning headscissors. Mistico tries to go up and over on sunset flip, but it's reversed into an Atlantis powerbomb, feet on the middle rope one two three! (1:14) There are people happy for Atlantis here. Replays. No break, straight into fall three.
Atlantis on the outside, while Mistico is down in the ring, still recovering. Atlantis sits on top of him and starts punching, which stops the Mistico chant. Legdrop on the leg. Atlantis taking his time. Atlantis slaps Mistico around. Corner whip, Mistico climbs the ropes and jumps back with an armdrags. Hiptoss, hiptoss, Mistico waved by, and back with a headscissors. There's some boos again. Atlantis on the outside, Mistico running - wild looking tornillo! Semi-out of control, but he got the distance and hit his mask. Replays of the dive while both recover. Mistico is in by himself and celebrating, but Atlantis sneaks behind him - there's the cavernaria. Mistico's in trouble but refusing to give up. He finally breaks the chinlock, but Atlantis is sure he gave up somewhere in there and argue with the ref. Whip, Mistico struggles but gets 'rana for two. Both take a moment t gather themselves. Mistico off the ropes, tries to go up and over, and Atlantis just lets him fall behind him. Atlantis points to the crowd before following up. Snap mare, is he going to rip the mask? Yes! Ripping the eye holes pretty huge. Corner whip, corner clothesline, and we take a look at Atlantis low blowing Mistico and pinning him last week. Live, Atlantis picks Mistico off the top rope, walks around, and ends with a suplex, one two NO. Atlantis doesn't like that count. Crowd chanting for Mistico. Atlantis with a rebound suplex, bouncing Mistico off the top rope, and almost dropping him in a brainbuster. Atlantis adds a senton one two NO. Atlantis says this is it. Double underhook lift, holding him, and Mistico (not quite cleanly) escapes into a fujiwara armbar. Atlantis is close to the ropes - and he grabs them. Mistico thinks he can win this yet - and we look at the crowd to clip something out. Mistico's out of the ring when we return, and Atlantis gets him with a tope. Replays of the dive as they recover. Crowd behind Mistico again. Atlantis is in first, and Mistico gets him with a forearm, and then barely lands (but does land) a springboard sunset flip one two NO. Atlantis double checks its' only two. Mistico with slam on Atlantis, and he's headed up. The crowd immediately thinks this is a bad idea. Atlantis is getting up before Mistico's finished climbing, and Atlantis crotches him. Hanging neckbreaker! Elbow drop, elbow drop one two NO. Atlantis slams Mistico, and looks around. Another set of elbow drops. Fans boo as he heads out and up. Is he taking too long? Top rope somersault senton, Mistico moves! Mistico covers, one two no. Mistico right on Atlantis, but going after his mask this time. Mistico corner whip, Tiger Mask flip and flop onto his stomach (the crowd boos that quite a bit) and a powerslam as Atlantis charges out. Mistico's surprised at the booing. He goes up top for a moonsault, and it's completely off - he ends up bouncing his chest off the ropes and lands on his feet (which was probably the plan - it was just an ugly way to execute it) as Atlantis rolled out of the way. Mistico gets a small package with no reaction for two. Mistico dropkick to the knee, La Majistral, Atlantis throws him off, Atlantis tries his own La Majistral, Mistico tries counter it (or is just dead here), Atlantis hangs on to turn it into a crucifix roll for one two NO. Atlantis can't believe that's only two. Crowd still chanting for Mistico, who seems gassed or something here. Mistico charges Atlantis, Atlantis give shim a tilt-a-whirl, Mistico lands on his feet, Atlantis charges him, Mistico moves, Atlantis sandwiches the ref in the corner. Mistico tries La Mistica, Atlantis throws him off, Atlantis tries the low blow kick, Mistico blocks and yanks Atlantis' mask. Small package, ref eventually comes back alive to count one two three. (8:58) Much of the crowd is quite happy, though some are not. Atlantis shoves the ref down in anger over how that went down, but that's not going to help. Mistico gets the microphone, but we go to break.
Back for Mistico on the microphone. Mistico wants a mask match next week. Atlantis starts to walk off, then stops - I think he wants a microphone. The announcers talk over him. Atlantis point is the ref screwed him by not noticing his mask got pulled. Parts of Atlantis' yelling at Mistico gets muted out. Atlantis wants to face Mistico right now, but when the ref won't leave, Atlantis leaves. Wait, he's coming back. They tease fighting some more, and we watch many replays of the finish. Live, Mistico thanks the fans.
That's it.
