CMLL GdR - 02/18/06 (#13)
Intros: Leobardo is hanging with Ke Monito in the park, and tries to interview him. This is not 100% as wacky as it sounds, but it's up there. Monito's not friends with Leobardo. Julio is in front of an Artemis shaped fountain, which is a segue to our opener. Adolfo and Tania, inside Arena Coliseo, run down the card.
Running bits: Usual valet bumpers - except the valets are very sad for Monito, which gets explained later. Dark Angel is the subject of the outside the ring feature. She speaks Spanish just not perfect enough for me to actually understand what she's saying (it's all in the cadence - and she repeats the questions before answering, which is deceitfully helpful.) These were not the questions the guys were getting...
What's she looking for in a man? Someone who treats her like a princess,
listens well and talks to her.
What's her most painful childhood memory? She doesn't remember one - she was surrounded
by love.
Would you risk your hair in a match? She wouldn't like to lose her hair, but if
there was a fight she really wanted - like vs Amapola in Arena Mexico (she
specifically says that match), she'd be willing to risk if what she was going to
win would be worth it.
What are your hobbies? Tae Bo and kickboxing.
Do you have plans to marry? Not at this moment, no.
random still shots of Monito and Leobardo in the park. This better be a tease, because it looks awesome.
Match 1: Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei (c) vs Dark Angel, Marcela (c), Sahori
Arena Mexico, 02/10/06
Winner: Rudas - Sujei inside cradle Dark Angle
Match Time: 13:28
Approx Rating: 86. Best women's match they've done, easy.
Other Match Notes: Marcela has THE belt. It's the still the old oval
style. When they get a new belt, you'll know that they really care. Why do they
have Dark Angel use a knock off version of the song anyway? CMLL's quite
irregular about using actual vs knock off - Sahori's using an actual Shania
Twain song here. I dunno. Amapola is out first for her team, but doesn't make
down the ramp before she's backing up to get away from Dark Angel. By the time
Princesa Sujei gets there, everyone's on the ramp and being kept apart by one of
the refs. They're trying to get in cheap shots around the ref when Hiroka gets
there, and finally the ref orders everyone to go the ring. There's a quick clip
in here to go right to the whistle. Again, one fall.
Right to the whistle, but not right to the action, as all six are standing in the ring and either talking to a ref or talking to their rival. Tecnicas stand near each other and look really short. Shockingly, we start with Dark Angel vs Amapola. Crowd starts chanting for Dark Angel, and Amapola decides to tag out to Princesa Sujei. As usual, Sujei would be happy to hit Dark Angel, but she's too busy yelling at Amapola. Sujei shoves her to get her attention, Dark Angel has enough of this silliness and tags out to Marcela, Amapola tags back in. Are we going to wrestle now? NO, tag to Dark Angel. Amapola and me are walking out until we get some wrestling here. Sujei and Marcela now for real? They lockup! And break. Lockup, Sujei with a full nelsons, transition into the next spot goes a little weird but Sujei ends up with an armdrag, up, hipblock takedown. Marcela gets the headscissors reversal, and the director decides to look at other things. When things settle down, Sujei has Marcela in an armbar, and bites the hand! That's vaguely illegal. Sujei lets go of the bite to twist the arm, and Marcela rolls into a reversal, followed by an armdrag. Marcela flips to her feet in celebration, while the rudas complain about a tights pull. Lockup - well, let's look at people on the apron instead. Director has no patience for female mat work. When we turn back, Marcela' sin the process of hooking on a bow and arrow, keeping her shoulders up from being pinned. Sujei manages to spin out on top for a two count. Marcela with a takedown, Sujei with a headscissors from the mat and a stomp. Forearm to Marcela's neck. Snap mare, Marcela lands on her feet, moment of tentativeness, backdrop reverse into a sunset flip reversed into a Sujei running inverted head snap. The last part of the sequence was neat but a little slow. Sujei misses a clothesline, Marcela comes back off the ropes for a spinning headscissors, Sujei goes to the ramp, and Marcela teases a dive. And we take a break from this. (4:02)
Leobardo and Monito in the park. Monito has a heart shaped balloon. They walk around much, and the kids want to hang with Monito. Leobardo gets cotton candy for his small blue friend. They're now walking around with a massive amount of people behind them. Leobardo hugs Monito. LEOBARDO POPS MONITO'S BALLOON! After about twenty stabs, but it's still quite rudo. Leobardo takes the cotton candy to eat himself, and Monito storms off.
Leobardo stands with the main event tecnicos. Negro talks. Mistico and Wagner are wearing their half masks here. Negro goofs around during the promo like the Mexican Shawn Michaels. Leobardo walks out on them, like always.
And back to the match, mid Sujei/Sahori sequence. There's a an odd backdrop/flapjack spot early on. Dropkick by Sujei. Sahori is whipped to the other corner, steps out of the corner, and gets a bodyscissors into armdrags. Sahori's 'rana looks just okay. Sujei's dropkicked out, and Sahori pulls off an armdrag to the floor. Tags, and we're onto Marcela and Hiroka, Hiroka immediately booting down her opponent. Slam, kick to the spine, boot to the face to knock her down. Hiroka whips Marcela into the corner, Marcela reveres, Hiroka gets a boot up, and then puts on a toe hold! Ah, it's a rolling toe hold, that's a bit more modern. There' a weird trip spot (Hiroka was going for move unknown) and the refs are stunned enough to be slow on the count when Marcela covers. Chest slaps by Marcela, corner whip, Hiroka boot stomps in the corner, Marcela waits till she's stopped to charge, Hiroka tosses her up in the air, Marcela springboards off the middles backwards into a 'rana. Looked cool and dangerous. Marcela ducks a clothesline and dropkicks Hiroka down. Hiroka's on the apron, so Marcela gives her a running sliding dropkick to knock her to the floor and teases the drive. Crowd shot - another clip? I don't think so, but I'm not sure. Back to Sujei and Sahori, and only for a moment before all Sujei goes after the people on the apron and the rest of the rudas help. Amapola uses the two knee backbreaker on Sahori, and Sujei tosses Hiroka off the top rope into a senton. Sujei and Amapola team up for a bodyscissors legdrop too. Dark Angel in, and she gets in nothing before she's worked over. Is this her first action of the match? As far as we've seen. Raven has a nice looking jumping back elbow, and Dark Angel gets tossed into a Amapola missile dropkick (although she's already back on her feet when she gets hit.) Kick to the spine by Sujei, boot to the face by Hiroka, and Dark Angel rolls to safety. Marcela in, and she takes double boots. Sujei gives her the back suplex into a face first powerbomb, and Amapola legdrops the back of her head, and Hiroka kicks her in the face. Hiroka really likes doing that this week. Sujei makes belt motions to Marcela as she rolls out. Sahori back in, and the rudas are rolling so far, though they're taking too long on this whip. Sure enough, Marcela and Dark Angel grab their partner. Amapola charges her, Sahori ducks under a clothesline, and Amapola runs into double high kicks from Marcela and Dark Angel. Marcela double clotheslines the other rudas, and the comeback should be on. It's very brief, though - the tecnicas go to their corner as the rudas recover, and we're left with just Sahori and Amapola fighting. Maybe just Sahori fighting, as she quickly gets a swinging fisherman's suplex and a senton, one two NO. Sahori blocks a clothesline, and reverses into a jumping stunner. Off the ropes dropkick to the chest, sitting on top cover one two no. Sahori off the ropes, Amapola scoops her up in a fireman's carry, and tries to drop her into a two knee gutbuster, but the timing is off. Amapola tries to recover into something we don't get a good look at, but seems like a jackknife into an inverted backslide, and can't get both shoulders down at first. Once that's settled, she gets the three count. (9:32) Sahori did get to look pretty good before she left. Dark Angel is of course is eager to take her place. They reverse moves until Dark Angel lands the kick to the midsection and DDT. Slight boos on that one. Snap mare, kick to the spine, and Dark Angel rips up Amapola's mask quite good. Dark Angel is warned away, which allows Amapola to get up. Kick, fireman's carry, forward drop, going up. Dark Angel joins her and stops her with a punch, Amapola fights back, and Dark Angel takes a middle rope front suplex. Amapola all the way up - missile dropkick probably benefited form the chosen camera angle, but still looked off. One two NO. Amapola is unhappy with the count. Amapola gets Dark Angel in a back trip backbreaker for another two count. Whip, Dark Angel tries a clothesline, Amapola grabs it and gets a double underhook, Dark Angel reveres to her own double underhook, double underhook powerbomb one two THREE. (11:26) Dark Angel is beyond thrilled. Next elimination gets it. Hiroka comes in, turns to look at the crowd, and gets laid out good with a Marcela dropkick. Marcela off the ropes, 'rana, Hiroka powerbombs her and kinda loses her at the same time one two NO. Hiroka is just as unhappy with the count. Kick, small package, one two NO. Hiroka tries chops. Whip, clothesline misses, Marcela with a quick stops and turn, up and over sunset flip one two NO. Hiroka would like that count to be a bit slower. Corner whip, reversed, Marcela runs up the corner, Hiroka follows with a springboard dropkick which doesn't budge Marcela much but I guess pauses her. Hiroka climbs up to join her, but gets grabbed in a waistlock - middle rope face first powerbomb! She's gone for sure, but Marcela will be sure - cavernaria! Rudas need to do something here - Sujei comes, Dark Angel in after her, Sujei manages to trip her up and try a La Majistral, but Dark Angel pushes her off - into the ref!. Dark Angel quickly gets a reinera, but there's no ref. There's Amapola back in, and despite not being a ref, she tries to help - chest slap knocks them both over, Sujei gets a inside cradle while hooking the ref, Amapola alerts the ref, one two three (13:28) Sujei celebrates her hard fought win. Here's replays of a Dark Angel plancha on Amapola we didn't see - I think we saw a different angle of the Sahori armdrag to the floor. Angel's pin on Amapola, and Amapola helping Sujei win.
Adolfo talks to the main event rudos. Canek is happening to be teaming with the GdA. Atlantis says hi to Magadan. Ultimo, who they're calling Papa a lot, says they'll prove their the best.
Match 2: Atlantis (c), Canek, Ultimo Guerrero vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Mistico (c), Negro Casas
Arena Coliseo, 02/12/06
Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:59
Approx Rating: 80ish. Usual solid match.
Other Match Notes: Atlantis is wearing his own split mask, which actually
reminds me more of Cien Caras' mask. Monito has as a white robe this week. Negro
ends up rushing the ring, because the rudos attacked the tecnicos while we were
looking at the valets.
Beatdown is full on. Mistico gets pressed slammed onto the front row chairs, and Canek and Atlantis don't let the other two out of their warm up jackets. Ultimo brings Mistico back in for the super high flapjack, and yea, so he can rip the mask. Ultimo press Mistico again, and walks around a bit before tossing him onto the top turnbuckle. Atlantis has Monito, and he gently rolls him in the aisle. Canek is still fighting Wagner in the ring. Canek presses Wagner, and Ultimo whips Negro into the Atlántida. (2:33). Canek drops Wagner, drops an elbow, and covers for the win. (2:41) Replays, break.
Beatdown rolls into fall 2. Rudos team up to stretch Negro's arms and upper body around the top rope. Corner whip, corner clothesline. by Atlantis, and he sets up Negro for Ultimo's corner headstand sit. Mistico is down on the outside. Atlantis slams Negro's head into the side of the apron, while Ultimo deals with Wagner. Ultimo waits for help, double clothesline misses, and Mistico lands the springboard double clothesline. Comeback is on. 619, check. Ultimo begs off quite a bit, as Wagner goes after Canek's mask. Clothesline takes both Ultimo and Mistico the floor. Negro gets some revenge on Atlantis, alarming him face first into seats. Wagner waves Monito in, and he gets a dropkick on Canek. Backdrop by Wagner, and Monito sneaks in another shot on Canek. Crowd loud for Wagner. Dropkick to the head, one two NO. Abdominal stretch on Canek, Atlantis break it's up with a kick. Wagner goes out, Atlantis goes out, Negro comes in, and Canek stays in. They have a face off. Negro tries to strike Canek down, corner whip, Canek out of the corner into a monkey flip. Canek drops Negro with a clothesline. Pose. Press, and Wagner breaks it up with a dropkick. Negro lands on top, Atlantis tries a dropkick, Negro moves and Atlantis ends up splashing his own partner. Negro covers Canek for three (3:54) as Wagner gets a waistlock cradle with back bridge on Atlantis, one two three. (3:57) Ultimo tries to come in, gets dropkicked on the way in by Mistico, and runs off before he can be chased down, heading in the same rudo section of fans again.
Mistico wants to start with Ultimo Guerrero, but the feeling is not reciprocal. Looks like Atlantis will, but he gets Negro instead. Atlantis complains, and gets Dr. Wagner instead. This is not much better. Crowd chants for Wagner, and Atlantis angrily shoves him down. Wacky pose! Wagner pushes him down. Drawn out pose. Atlantis rushes him with a forearm. Corner whip, reversed, Wagner charges into a boot, Atlantis charges into a powerslam. Wagner in position to rip Atlantis' mask, but holds off. Whip, reversed, Wagner off the ropes, over, under, Atlantis drops down for the monkey flip to soon and Wagner kicks him in the head. Snap mare, tag to Negro, double dropkick to the head. Atlantis is down, and Wagner would like to cover - perhaps he should try both shoulders down. Canek comes in, wanting a piece of Wagner, but Negro comes in to help him. Wagner and Negro ludicrously exchange Wolfpack signals, and Negro will see if he can take Canek down. Canek works Negro over with strikes, and Negro comes back with a jumping heel kick. Corner whip, charge, Negro runs into a boot, Canek rounds out to a backdrop. Negro puts on an inverted step over armbar, and Ultimo kicks him away, which of course means Mistico, hyper as kid on Halloween, comes in. Mistico charges Ultimo and Ultimo throws him down hard! Wagner comes in to figure up Mistico, but is pushed out by the ref. Ultimo mocks the crowd for chanting for Mistico. Whip, over, waved by, handspring, Ultimo catches him with one arm and powerbombs him down! This ain't going well for Mistico. Forearm salute. Ultimo tries for a Finlay bomb, but Mistico flips to his feet, gets a double wristlock, jumps on Ultimo's shoulders, and comes off with a 'rana. Ultimo out, Mistico off the ropes, slingshot 'rana. Mistico climbs the ropes to celebrate as the other four start fighting. Negro and Wagner are whipped into each other, but Wagner at least fires up. Negro's looking out of it. Atlantis and Canek clothesline them, Wagner stays up, Canek drops Negro, sorta to Wagner surprise. Negro rolls out, and Canek holds Wagner for an Atlantis dropkick. Yea, no. Canek rolls out, and Atlantis and Wagner are left in - Wagner tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. I think Negro just got the Silla on Canek in the background. Dropkick by Wagner, crowd shot, and Wagner's all hyper on the apron - somersault body press to the floor! Mistico and Ultimo are back in, and Mistico's got the crowd behind him. There's a handspring backflip for nothing. Ultimo clotheslines him down, but Mistico does the leverage spot straight into a 'rana, Ultimo rolls thru and both men hook the ropes (right in front of Negro) one two three. (5:21) Half the saw had a perfect view of that and boos at the finish. The ref counts one two three once again for Mistico's benefit. Rudos celebrate.
Mistico lays down a challenge to Ultimo, and they agree to fight mano o mano next week.
We cut to a Magadan interview with Atlantis, with Mistico now down in the ring and Atlantis celebrating with a slice of Mistico's mask. Ultimo and Canek join them. Canek talks about how great he is. Looks like Mistico's mask got ripped in half, because he's wearing another mask now. As Ultimo talks, Monito sneaks around the corner and kicks Leobardo! Revenge is sweet. Rudos go back in the ring, and Leobardo says goodbye.
That's it.
