CMLL GDR - 02/04/06 (#10!)

hanging out segment: they go all AAA on us, running down the lineup in front of an authentic Mexican monument. They seem to have acquired a female cohost, Tania, at least for this part of the show. When Leobardo and Adolfo do the run in, I imagine them arguing which one is getting cut for her, but they're arguing the main event.

Out of the Ring: This week, it's Rey Bucanero - and he actually gives detailed answers! Goooooooo Rey.

Match 1: Amapola (c), Hiroka, Princesa Sujei vs Dark Angel (c), India Sioux, Luna Magica
Arena Mexico, 01/27/06

Winner: Rudas - DQ Dark Angel (Amapola's mask)
Match Time: 13:25
Approx Rating: Slightly better than last week.
Other Match Notes: For the record, they choose to spell it "Sugehit". That's not even close!

Luna Magica does not have a video, but she has some very hatable music. It's probably playing on your local KISS radio station right now. India has a shield this week. Amapola has the IWRG belt, and again she's the National Champion to our ring announcer. I should never mention this again. I like how Hiroka poses with a big Japanese flag in her video, just so you're clear. And she's wearing it to the ring! Well okay. I would think belly button jewelry wouldn't be good for a wrestling match, but apparently Sujei feels differently. One fall, once again. Baby Richard and Tiger Hispano are your referees. The A-Team calls this match.

Dark Angel and Amapola to start - or not, as Amapola walks out. Sujei attempts to get in Dark Angel's face, but Dark Angel just ignores her. Dark Angel is the master of Talk To The Hand. Angel leaves, Magica comes in, Amapola comes back in, Angel comes back in, Amapola is back out. We're apparently not in a hurry today. Okay, Sujei and Magica, everyone can agree on that, a minute after the match has started.

Circle, lockup, break. Lockup, break. Sujei yells at the crowd some. Lockup, Luna with an armdrag. Lockup, no, Luna with a waistlock, Sujei spins around, and Luna takes her down. Cranking on the left leg. Sujei reverses, though we don't get a good look at it, into a backslide for one. More mat wrestling - Luna seems a step slow throughout, but not bad enough to ruin everything. They reach a standoff after Sujei gets a headscissors takedown from the mat. Tags - Amapola and Dark Angel and Amapola is leaving again. Hiroka wants to take Dark Angel on, but Dark Angle doesn't want her either. Hiroka is more insistent about it. India vs Hiroka instead. India approves of the hollers in her direction. Circle, lockup, India with an armbar, back heel trip, Hiroka tries to roll thru, India stays on her with a wristlock, Hiroka gets a headscissors and they break. Hiroka shakes her arm as she gets up, tries a clothesline with that right, and India catches it to a fujiwara armbar! Hiroka squirms on the mat, and flips over to her back, quickly reversing it into a headlock. Zero cover exchange, with the refs not even managing to get down, and the only getting down for zero. They're going full speed before they stop and have a face off. Shoves. Okay, now, FOR REAL, Dark Angel and Amapola. Amapola has not warmed to this idea, but Dark Angel wants to get it on already. Dark Angel's talking, and talking, and Sujei drops her from behind! Rudas start stomping a mudhole in her, and leave to let Amapola get in her shots. Spinning side slam (sorta), off the ropes, dropkick to the nostrils! Amapola mocks the crowd. Whip, shoulder to the midsection, dropkick to the shoulder and Dark Angel improbably flies all the way out of the ring. Luna comes in and pulls Amapola from behind, but he's quickly taken down by the two other rudas. India tries to help, but Amapola quickly dispose of her.  Triple whip for Luna, double spinebuster, Amapola lifts her up, and Hiroka dropkicks both of them down. Luna took more of the impact, so it worked even though it doesn't sound like it should've. India in, and she's whipped, passed around, and dropped for a triple facebuster. Hiroka apparently thought they were going on 4 there, huh. Triple dropkick to the head is much better Timed. Hiroka stops Dark Angel as soon as he's in, and Sujei works her over in the corner. Amapola is whipped towards Dark Angel by her partners, but Dark Angel moves and Amapola get the post. The comeback is on - or out, because Dark Angel goes out of the ring to get her rival. The tecnicos get their revenge in the ring, including a India tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Sujei that almost hurt both of them. Dark Angle slams Amapola on the floor, and whips her into the post (and almost India.) They settled back into a match - and that's break time. (7:29)

Interview: Dos Caras Jr., Mr. Niebla, Hijo de Lizmark talk to Leobardo about tonight's main event. In case you had any question, Lizmark is the type of guy who will do interviews with his shirt off. I believe the tecnicos don't see anyway they could be beat. They're all kinda going after Universo and his belt, though I think Niebla is the only one to bring it up. Lizmark seems particularly pumped to get mic time, so good for him.

Impactante: This is a new feature, and after I saw it, I hoped they never have it again. It's a clip from the Sunday opening minis match, with dramatic music. Mini Fantasy sets up Sombrita seated on the top rope, and attempts to boost a charging Shockercito up for a 'rana. Attempts is the key word, because the boost is mistimed and Shockercito goes over Sombrita, flying over the ring post and all the way to the floor. I thought he was dead for sure until I realized I would've known by now. Yea, I can see why he was stretchered out of that show.

and the match continues: Amapola and India are in as we pick back up the women's match. India off the ropes, into a flapjack. Dropkick to India's side. Amapola pulls her up by the hair, whip, and India comes back with a funky looking headscissors. Not bad, just odd. Running tornado DDT. Amapola stops that, and Sujei stops that with a kick. Loud kick to the shoulder.  Whip, India back with a sunset flip, Sujei rolls thru and loudly kicks her in the head. Stomps. Whip, reversed, India with a belly to belly, and a dropkick to send Sujei out. Hiroka stops her run with a jumping clothesline. Hiroka has a celebration dance, but India blocks her next move and gets a sorta running armdrag. Hiroka stops her with a springboard back elbow, but India rolls out of the way of a follow up somersault senton. India picks up Hiroka by the hair - whip, tilt-a-whirl backbreaker could've been better. Cartwheel celebration. Crowd is loud, and I can't tell if that's a good thing. Luna and Sujei back in, Sujei off the ropes, Linda drops down, Sujei stops short and drops an elbow. Chest slap, corner whip, Luna moves out of the way. Tilt-a-whirl armdrag by Luna, but Amapola knocks her with a boot. Sujei and Amapola stomp her, but Luna kips up and does a double springboard armdrag (with Amapola and Sujei doing all the work in a way visible to Stevie Wonder.) Hiroka tries a clothesline, Luna ducks that, off the ropes, messed up timing, then Luna hits a wheel kick. Celebration. Crowd is loud and I think there are some negative reactions there again. Luna is thrown off by that or something else, because she starts walking to the wrong corner before going back to the tecnicas. Dark Angel in and taking on Sujei. Whip, Sujei with a monkey flip, Dark Angel lands on her feet, Sujei misses on a clothesline, Dark Angel gets a strange (and this one not good) looking spinning headscissors to send Sujei out. Angel ducks Hiroka's kick, armdrags her, tries for a followup dropkick, and Hiroka evades by, uh, moving a half step to her left and raising her hands in the air. That was ridiculous and great   the announcers slightly lose it. Dropkick by Hiroka, spine kick. Hiroka tries a bodyscissors nothing, which just succeeds in getting Dark Angel on her feet. Dark Angel back off the ropes for an armdrag, and then another to send Hiroka out. Amapola in, Dark Angel ducks her clothesline, Amapola tries a backdrop on the next pass but ends up with just a flapjack. Follow up dropkick is much better. Amapola pulls Dark Angel up by her hair, but Dark Angel gets in a kneelift, and 'ranas out of it. Bodyscissors bulldog works. Snap mare, and she's going for Amapola's mask. Hey, rudas, you want to help? Dark Angel relent when warned by the referee. Camel clutch, bout more so Dark Angel can untie the mask. Sujei breaks that up with a dropkick, and Dark Angel goes ludicrously far on that one too. Maybe it's just her. India in and dropkicking Sujei. Corner whip, India charges in, Sujei catches the clothesline, Sujei tries one of her own, but India catchers her arm, wraps it in a hammerlock, ties in a front facelock, and drops down quick. Meanwhile, Luna gets Hiroka with a top rope plancha. Hiroka charges Luna again, and gets thrown in the corner. Luna gets her submission move as well, so we can go to the end game. Dark Angel comes back in and gets a float around small package on Amapola, which the referees are supposed to be too busy checking the submissions to see (although Tiger Hispano visibly looks at it, think about counting, and Amapola kicks out before it could happen.) They get back up, Dark Angel tries a 'rana, Amapola pushes her over her shoulders, and throws her mask to Dark Angel. Refs turn around, and that's that. (DQ 5:56, 13:25 total) Amapola had her hair in her face, so her identity is still a secret. Tecnicas are none too happy. Replays - Dark Angel was very confused about having a mask in her hands until the evil plan was revealed.

Interview: Adolfo talks to Tarzan, Atlantis, Universo 2000. What a trio. Universo looks like he's either headed to or coming from the game. Can anyone beat the united power of the Capos and the Guerreros. Atlantis is coming thru the TV! Watch out!

Match 2: Atlantis (c), Tarzan Boy, Universo 2000 vs Dos Caras Jr. (c), Lizmark Jr., Mr. Niebla
Arena Coliseo, 01/29/05

  1. rudos
  2. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-0)
Match Time: 6:12
Approx Rating: Just a beatdown.
Other Match Notes: Atlantis wearing his red mask today. YES PEOPLE SINGING GUITAR PARTS. The valet with Dos Caras Jr. is thrilled to be on TV. Break right after Niebla's introduced, because the rudos are rushing them.

Rudo beatdown is on, Atlantis going after Niebla, Universo stomping down Dos Caras and Tarzan and Lizmark, though we see little of them. Standard individual beat downs. Tarzan unties Niebla's mask, Atlantis does the same with Lizmark (when he's not got a boot in his face) and Universo unties Dos' mask. Tarzan almost gets Niebla's mask off, but Atlantis talks him into doing something else. Universo almost gets Dos' mask off, and the refs apparently warn him into not doing it. Ah, they're trying the tecnicos to the ropes by the mask string. The refs try to stop them, but that's not going to happen. Lizmark's the only freedman, but they work him over. The knots aren't so good - Niebla breaks free when Atlantis kicks him down, so Atlantis retires him to the middle rope. Lizmark is set up and takes a top rope axhandle to his taped up left elbow - that's the one he hurt last week, right? Everyone grabs an arm and yanks, and that's it. (3:06) Rudos taking their time letting go. They unwrap Lizmark's elbow - and use the wrap to choke out Lizmark! Well, that seems illegal. They break as soon as the refs tell them to, but just go choke Dos instead. The refs haven't overturned this yet - they're allowing a lot to get away. They are trying to untie the tecnicos from the ropes, but Atlantis is choking out Niebla while he's getting untied, which seems pretty blatant. Universo taunts Dos and dares him to bring it, but he's still tied to the ropes. Universo brings the fight to Dos, because he's got nothing else to do. Replays. Break.

Beatdown continues into the second fall. And so does the celebration of the beatdown. Universo knows where the camera is, good man. Tecnico are at least all untied, but they're still being worked over. Tarzan and Atlantis work over Niebla in the ring while Universo works over Dos. Lizmark may be done at this point. Atlantis comes out, and he and Universo play pinball with Dos. Dos is eventually brought in. Corner whip, Dos ducks Tarzan's splash, evades Atlantis' clothesline and dropkicks Universo down. Niebla back in (Lizmark is gone for sure) , and he ducks a double clothesline to hit a double springboard back elbow. Dos wants to go out and mix it up with Universo, but the numbers don't allow it, so he helps clear out Atlantis and Tarzan with Niebla. Tilt-a-whirl backbreakers all around. Both off the ropes - no, Universo trips up Niebla, Tarzan keeps him down with stomps. Dos has a waistlock on Atlantis, but Universo grabs him from behind in an inside cradle, pulling the tights, and Atlantis helps cover one two three! (3:06 - well that's just weird!) Everyone grabs a part of Niebla and he's submitted too. The numbers were the numbers, but that's biggest tecnico slaughter I've seen in some time. They got killed for a while, had a minute comeback, and were summarily defeated.

Post match, Dos wants a singles match, but Universo and Atlantis are too busy crowing about a two fall win to care. Niebla gets in a cheap shot, and Atlantis complains about the lack of professionalism. Atlantis and Universo tease going back in, but decline. Replays of the finish.

Valet's wish us goodbye. That's it.
