CMLL Guerreros del Ring - 01/21/06 (#8)
Julio welcomes us to the show.
Throughout the night, they run "La Otra Cara" (another face) bits going to break. In this one, they ask Negro Casas what music he listens to..
Match 1: Terrible, Pierroth (c), el Hijo del Pierroth vs Mr. Niebla (c), Satanico, Negro Casas
Arena Coliseo, 01/15/06
Winner: Tecnico (2-1)
Match Time: 12:22
Approx Rating: Underwhelming
Other Match Notes: If Terrible does turn on his team or doesn't get
turned on by his team, that's a point against him being in PdM. He does get a separate
entrance. La Nazi is with the Pierroths. Terrible high tens with Pierroth, so I
guess they're all good. Odd Niebla is the captain here, but I'll go with it.
Opening whistle appears to be clipped out.
Negro and Pierroth start - well, after Pierroth insists on a handshake and gets it. Is Pierroth trying to reform? I'd start by wearing a shirt. Pierroth is holding holds in on the mat. Negro reveres out of a front facelock to a Crossface of all things, Pierroth tries to back roll out of it, and Negro rolls Pierroth on to his shoulder for two. Back up their feet, and battling over front facelock. Negro wants a suplex but Pierroth ain't going. Pierroth gets it instead., but Negro is quick up. Pierroth's trying to do a dramatic state down with Negro, and Hijo del Pierroth's in there fanning him down. Negro starts to leave, but they stay in for more. We seem to clip again, and Pierroth has a headlock on Negro when we look back at the ring. Back suplex by Negro, but the headlock is still on, somehow. Back up to their feet. Crowd is chanting for Negro, and he grabs a leg - kneebreaker. Again we look at the crowd when someone's doing a move - that's worrisome trade. Zero count covers, now they're done. Handslap. Look at the crowd again., and we're back for mid Terrible/Niebla. Terrible has Niebla stuck in a full nelson, and Niebla is spitting up something fierce. Niebla breaks half of the full nelson, and is able to armdrag out of the rest. Crowd shot again. Okay, we know they're there, this is getting quite annoying. On to Pierroth/Satanico, so they cut out most of Terrible/Niebla. Satanico gets headlock, throws Hijo down, and puts on a wristlock. Pierroth up to his feet, and armdragged over. Both up to their feet, Hijo gets a single leg, tries a toe hold, but Satanico easily scissors a leg, then moves into a double armbar, rolling Hijo into a backslide. Hijo counters with a bodyscissors cradle, but Satanico fights out at one, rolls Hijo to his feet, and hiptosses him down. Hijo kicks and chest slaps. Corner whip, Hijo charges in and lands a clothesline. Corner whip again, and hits time Satanico gets a boot up. Clothesline out. Whip, spinebuster, holding the legs for a pin on two three. (4:09) Niebla handspring elbows Terrible out of the ring, and follows up with a senton con giro (sorta). Negro knocks Pierroth down in the corner - dropkick to the head! I think they're ruling Pierroth dead here (5:26) although they could've just counted out Terrible.
Interview: Leobardo stands in the ring talking to Mistico and Dos Caras Jr. Why do they think of tonight's main event? Dos isn't worried as long as he's got his partners. Mistico and Leobardo get into an argument. Leobardo seems angry in being unsuccessful in getting the tecnicos to admit the rudos will beat them tonight.
La Otra Cara: What movie does Negro Casas like to watch? I'm skipping all the answers because it's easy, but I think this is Passion of the Christ. Break.
Dr. Wagner tells us that this is his house, and you should keep watching.
Negro and Pierroth again, with Pierroth not feeling Negro's strikes, and it not going likewise. Negro rallies back, and gets in a dropkick to the face, but not THE dropkick to the face. Pierroth is still slow to roll out. Niebla and Terrible. Terrible chest slaps Niebla, and Niebla falls like a tree. It doesn't happen on the next one, oddly enough, Niebla ends up getting in his big slap and the handspring (with Terrible standing and watching for a bit) and then the handspring elbow right after. Hijo gets the "slap causes dance" bit. Hijo dances with, and gets the slap to the back of the head. Satanico in, and so is Pierroth. Pierroth legitimately ends up with a spinebuster and a half crab, which ends Satanico and starts the beatdown. (2:19) Negro get posted by Hijo, and hurts his face. Terrible lands a top rope splash on Niebla to finish it off. (2:41) Replays. Seems like the rudos still might be getting but nothing big.
La Otra Cara: What's Negro Casas' favorite food? All these segments are doing is make me miss Halcon magazine. Break.
Who's Your Favorite Idol? They canvas fans waiting to get in. Wagner. Mistico. Mistico. Wagner. Santo. Mistico. Mistico. Santo. La Parka. Wagner. Mistico. Wagner. Mistico. Mascarita Sagrada. Wagner. Mistico. And now you know.
Beatdown continues, with Pierroth putting Negro in a devastating chinlock. Oh, I guess it's a choke, because the referees forced him to break it, and then warned him when he put it back on. They debate the fine points of chinlock vs choke while Hijo does a for sure choke on Niebla on the ropes, and La Nazi bites Niebla's hand! That's not pleasant. Satanico is at least going even on strikes with Terrible, but Pierroth helps out and that is that. Satanico is brought in for more beating. Satanico ducks out of the way of a chest slap, Hijo takes it, and that's the comeback. While Niebla is beating up Hijo on the outside and Satanico is at least doing things with Terrible, the camera keeps a close eye on Negro waiting forever to do his spot with Pierroth, because the refs have to be in position. Off a whip, he manages a low blow mule kick on Pierroth. Negro gets away with it too, although there's a long discussion of it. It settles down into a singles match for god knows what reason. I've moved on. Niebla and Pierroth do a sequence., Hijo breaks it up, and the other four all end up in the ring. Rudos eventually get whipped into each other, Negro lands La Silla (apron dive Thesz Press in a much shorter name) on Hijo, Satanico drops his diving senton on Terrible, and we're left with the two captains. Or not, as La Nazi quickly grabs Niebla by the leg, Niebla gets distracted, and Pierroth rolls him up for three. (4:15) Niebla complains about this complete waste of our time.
Leobardo talks to Pierroth. He doesn't see the problem - it's one two three. La Nazi cuts a promo, and says the rowdy tecnico fans are completely wrong on this one. And then runs for her life because I guess Niebla's coming. Fight resumes out during the interview.
Adolofo talks to Averno and Mephisto - Averno's wearing an Averno T-Shirt, and it seems as though all the midcarders (as far down as Sagrado so far) have their own (generic) t-shirts all of the sudden. Now you know what to get me for my birthday.
La Otra Cara: Negro Casas, what's your favorite part of the country? I can not possibly have translated that correctly. By the way, I'm just now figuring out this is all Negro. So slow.
Mr. Niebla tells us to keep watching. Now that his match is over, I think I can manage.
Match 2: Tarzan Boy, Averno (c), Mephisto vs Mistico (c), Dr. Wagner Jr., Dos Caras Jr.
Arena Coliseo, 01/15/06
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 16:02
Approx Rating: 84ish. Fun, though not memorably so.
Other Match Notes: We don't get to hear the part of the Tarzan Boy song
with people singing the guitar parts, which is always my favorite part. Averno's
got his own half/half mask going; one side's purple and white, the other side is
white and purple. Averno will surely be taking the deciding pin here; why else
would he be captain? Mistico shows up with Que Monito and his title belt and by
all the pointing at Averno, you figure at least one of those things will be on
the line soon. (Actually, it was the NWA MW Title in Puebla the next day, but
it's odd to build here to something for there.) I thought he might get punked
out by coming first, but nope. Wagner is last, and he's wearing his belt. This
leads to an early discussion where the announcers point out everyone but Dos has
a belt: you know the tecnicos, Tarzan's one-third of the CMLL Trios champs even
if they never defend it, Averno and Mephisto are tag champs, and Mep still is
CMLL Welterweight champion.
Clip to start; always odd when we get full entrances, and the moment the last guy gets to the ring, they jump ahead. Averno and Dos to start. Lockup, Dos with a waistlock, Averno behind into a hammerlock, Dos under, lifting, Averno up, and Averno slits behind for a sunset flip, one two no, reversed one two no. Dos with an armdrag and a kip up. Averno thinks this over. Now the whistle blows? Was that like a practice round? It's totally counting. Both guys looking for position, Averno tries a drop toe hold, Dos isn't going with, so Averno keeps twisting the leg till down he goes. Averno on his back with a chinlock. Wagner and Tarzan both in, but Wagner stops him - he's just there to collect a hair off the mat. Dos and Averno back up, Dos with an armbar into a hammerlock, Averno out into an armbar, twist, Dos rolls, rolls, and armdrags out. Tarzan tries to fire up his partner. Circle. Crowd getting on Averno and he's not liking it. Lockup, Averno with a single leg followed by an armdrag, armbar. Dos kips up and armdrags, and we're reached another stalemate. Averno shoves Dos in frustration. Dos shoves back, sending to the floor. Dos out after him, and Averno backs off, all the way around the ring. We need someone in or we can't have a match. Mephisto - and Mistico. Crowd shrieks. Mistico points to the crowd a bunch. Circle. Lockup, Mistico with an armdrag. Mep complains about a tights pull, but no dice. Mep gets in a single leg, Mistico rolled to his feet, armdrag, but Mistico hangs on and armdrags Mep. Mistico backs off while Mep thinks things over. Mephisto with a single leg, goes for the legs, but Mistico headscissors him from the mat. Mistico up and shoving Mistico down. Mistico's rolled to his feet, whip, reversed, Mistico with the drop toe hold, 619 is ducked by Mep, zero trip exchange, stand off. Dr. Wagner's shaking the ropes like crazy - maybe he wants in. He does, and gets Tarzan Boy. Wagner is pumped. Tarzan tells him to stop looking at the crowd and look at him - and Tarzan does the Wagner pose! Kick to the back. Whip, Tarzan slides under and turns on his back, Wagner turns and gets a double boot. Whip, head won too soon, Wagner gets the ropes, and kicks Tarzan. Clothesline to knock him off. Tarzan checks his nose. Wagner brings him in a neutral corner for knife edge chops. Tarzan begs off, and we look at the crowd. We look back to see Wagner kicking him, so that was just odd. Corner whip, Wagner charges in, Tarzan gets a boot up. Wagner's knocked back, but straightens his head and charges angina - into another boot. Another head straightening, and this time Tarzan runs out, into a powerslam. Wagner off the ropes, dropkick to the head. POSE. Tarzan charges Wagner, and his clothesline gets caught. Wagner looks at his corner, and sit down powerbombs Tarzan one two three (5:42) Mephisto tried to get involved, and Mistico got him with a springboard armdrag. Averno in, and Mistico rushes by him - into a corkscrew plancha on Mep! Dos in, kick, press for Averno, walking around, dropping him into waistlock and finishing him with the German suplex. (6:04) First fall to the tecnicos.
La Otra Cara: What's Negro Casas' favorite sport? Futbol and basketball.
Rudos are still down and hurting outside the ring as the second fall starts. Averno in particular needs to gather himself. Mep will come in for his team, versus Dos. Dos checks the crowd reaction, and Mep doesn't like it. Dos off the ropes, over, slide under, Mep off the ropes, armdrag by Dos, Dos goes for another armdrag but Mep stopped short, and don't that look awkward. Mep takes a look at him, and pulls him up for chops. Corner whip, Mep charges in, Dos kips up and over, Tarzan slips in to forearm him from behind and put him in a full nelson. Of course, Dos is still able to leap and dropkick Mep as he charges, back suplexes Tarzan (who actually lands on his feet - and points to his head) and connects on the corner enziguri for Mephisto. Tarzan's waiting for Dos to turn around, charges, and gets backdropped to the apron. Tarzan wins the battle of forearms, and goes up top - top rope plancha is caught, and easily. Dos holds him, seemingly waiting for something (not sure if it's related, but Averno is still on the floor and not the apron), and eventually just decides to give Tarzan a fallaway slam. Dos off the ropes, dropkick sends Tarzan out, and Dos teases a dive. CLIP
Mistico in. Averno in as well. Mistico over, into a drop toe hold. Averno dropping an elbow and feeling fine, so whatever. Dr. Wagner comes into yell at him posing in his general direction, then to pump up Mistico. Mephisto comes into help Averno as Wagner leaves. Double whip, Averno chases, and throws himself into the ropes as Mistico uses the 619 to escape. Spinning headscissors for Mep, spinning armdrag for Averno. Off the ropes, Tarzan cuts him off before he can dive. Mistico isn't afraid of this one either. Tarzan tries a punch, blocked, armbar is grabbed, kick, run to the corner, and Mexican flipping armdrag. Tarzan Boy rolls all the way out, and Mistico slides out after him. Mistico gets the under armlock and pulls off the post armdrag too! Mistico in and praying. Wagner runs around him, Dos runs around him, Monito in - group pose! Wagner will stay in for his team, and he soaks in the cheers. Mephisto on him with chest slaps and chops. Wagner knocks him down with a kick to the back of the leg. Corner whip, corner clothesline, corner whip, corner clothesline, bulldog. Mep crawls out to safety, and Averno slips in with a dropkick to the knee. He stomps Wagner out of the ring, and while Mephisto sneaks behind Mistico to pull him off the apron by his ankles, Averno surprises Dos with a back elbow. Looks like it's beatdown time. Mephisto has Mistico on the floor - Devil Rings on the floor! A bit released and not as much impact, but that's the end of Mistico for a while. Wagner comes over to check him as Averno and Tarzan work over Dos. Mephisto tries to get in more shots, but he's warned away. Instead, he and Averno work over Wagner in the ring. Middle rope axhandle to the back. Tarzan back in. Double whip, into a triple pump powerbomb, and a low blow headbutt, splash, legdrop combo! One two three. (5:08) Mistico's up and moving? Well, not for long. Tarzan stops him pretty quick. Double whip, into a Tarzan back elbow. Tarzan rolls him to his feet, whips him to his partners, and they hit a rebound triple facebuster one two three. (5:40) Dos is in now, way to grab Tarzan too late there. Averno tries to help out, but Dos had a strong grip on him. Rudos decide to get revenge by stomping his face in. Mistico tries to cover up his partner, but Mephisto drags him off by the mask.
Between falls is clipped. Wagner's in the ring as we start the third fall, trying to rally and failing. Corner whip, into Averno's boots. Tarzan knocks him out of the ring. Dos is in, and Tarzan goes after his mask. Mistico tries to help from outside, and Tarzan knocks him down with a swinging dropkick, Wagner gets a hold of Averno by the mask, so Mephisto goes for revenge - and pulls in Monito! The kids are very worried, and so is Mistico, who rushes into cover up his blue monkey friend. Wagner too? Man, he got soft. Instead, the Ex-Internals work over Mistico on the outside, running him crotch first into the post. And now they've got Monito! They're walking him around, and keeping the tecnicos at bay - and Mephisto kicks Monito down! Tecnicos are appalled. Mistico back in and worked over some more. Lots of talking before a corner work, always a bad sign. Especially when they deiced to change corners. Tarzan's whipped in after him, and misses a big splash, s now it's over. Tag Champs rush in after and meet a double boot. Mistico backflips over a double clothesline before it's even started, ducks another one, and lands a superkick on Tarzan. Comeback is on, as Wagner and Dos rush the ring and takedown the champs. Lots of punches. Monito gets in a splash on Tarzan. Mistico holds him down for a dropkick which seemed awful low, but all Monito dropkicks are going to be low. Looks like Dr. Wagner has destroyed Averno's mask - he has to hold it on. Dos posts Mephisto - and is this another clip? Yea, Mistico got from out of the ring to in the ring vs Averno awful quick. Averno with a chest slap which leans Mistico back. Whip, Mistico with a whip, reversed, Mistico with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Superkick sends Averno out, running, stopping at the ropes, slingshot headscissors! The other four all in the ring, and the rudos whip the tecnicos into each other, but they stop short. The tecnicos dare the rudos to bring it, and manage to eject them from the ring, Mephisto taking a crazy over the top rope bump. Dos tope! *** Wagner somersault body press into Mephisto! Captains back in the ring, Mistico immediately turns a clothesline into La Mistico, and it's over! (4:18) Dos carries Mistico around in celebration. Wagner puts Mistico on his shoulders, and Dos puts Wagner (and Mistico) on his shoulders, and Dos is able to walk around that way! Dos is strong, until Dos drops to his knees *** Everyone gets to their feet fine.
Between the ***s, the sound on my recording went out. Very odd. About a minute total.
The tecnicos talk to Alfredo about their win - Mistico makes fun of Leobrado for being wrong. Replay.
That's it.
