Lo Mejor de Lucha Libre has an interview with Nicho, mostly hyping up a trios match this Saturday in Monterrey. He only briefly refers to the car incident, claiming he was “kidnapped by the police for 4 days.” That’s one way of putting it.
There’s a Origin Of Lucha Libre article on Terra.com (which hosts the CMLL site, or at least has ads on it.) It’s oddly written. The lead in says lucha libre goes back to the French in 1863, and never explains more about what happened in 1863.
I have no idea who this guy is, but that’s quite the outfit.
Yes, that’s all the news I have. Sorry! I’ll make something up next time. I’ll go over tonight’s big cards later.

Napoleon III tried and did establish a monarchy in Mexico in the 1860’s, El Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of a victory on 1862, but then the French re-grouped (and they also had some supporters in Mexico, who wanted to overthrow off the republican goberment) and invaded most of the country for several years. USA and the Monroe Doctrine were busy on the American Civil War, although Lincoln suported the Mexican republic.
At the end of the CW, there were like 2 million soldiers in the US, so the French withdrew, although the monarchy lasted a while more because it was in part, a Mexican civil war as well… during that time, there was some French influence in Mexico, and it is said that there were Carnavals which included Lucha Libre…
ah!
That’s pretty neat information. My brain hurts now though… too much learning for one day.:P
Leopard Man scares me…Anyone know his ring name?
