Tonight’s big shows

The big card tonight is in Ciudad Madero, as AAA wraps up it’s year with it’s Guerrera de Titanes show.

AAA TV (FRI) 12/08 Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas
1) Billy Boy, Fabi Apache, Mascarita Sagrada, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Gran Apache, Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Estrellas, Rossy Moreno
2) Alebrije, Angel, Elegido, Laredo Kid vs Abismo Negro, Antifaz, Charly Manson, Histeria
3) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Psicosis II vs Cuervo, Ozz, Scoria
4) Brazo de Plata vs Intocable vs Alan Stone vs Scorpio Jr. [hair]
5) La Parka Jr., Octagon, Zorro vs ?, ??, ???
6) Cibernetico vs Muerte Cibernetica

Opener should be okay, and it’d be nice if they had a new twist to the story. Second doesn’t have much going on, but it should be Charly Manson’s farewell from the Vipers (unless they’re being brought into the new group.) Third match should set up another atomicos title match down the road, with Espiritu taking Chessman’s place. It’s probably Scorpio Jr. losing his hair, though it sure wouldn’t be a surprise to see Porky go bald again. No word on the mystery people, but logically they’ve got to be Konnan and/or TNA people. Homicide and Samoa Joe are both scheduled to be in Chicago Ridge tonight (so was I, but I think I’d end up sicker), so cross them off the list of possibilities.

I’d think Cibernetico would get the win to cement him as a big tecnico, but then what? Whatever the case, the whole locker room will interfere in the main event.

Arena Mexico’s show is a simple setup to next week’s hair match, and not really an effective one at that.

CMLL (FRI) 12/08 Arena Mexico
1) Danger & Valiente vs Artillero & Super Comando
2) Fabian el Gitano, Mascara Purpura, Metro II vs Arkangel, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Blue Panther, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila
4) Heavy Metal, Shocker, Universo 2000 vs Alex Koslov, Kenzo Suzuki, LA Park
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Rey Bucanero vs Atlantis, Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero

Ovaciones pushes the card as a continuation of the Atlantis/Wagner and Ultimo/Rey feuds. Too bad those aren’t the feuds they’re selling next week. Unless CMLL.com’s tease is meant to be taken seriously and they’d really turn the CMLL TRIOS match into a three way if the tecnicos won here, there’s no reason for them and the Perros not to be conflicting in some way. Even with Corelone not around, if the semi-main is supposed to be the ticket seller next week, why is it the semimain?

Koslov seems higher than usual, as if he’s taking Corelone’s spot. Probably just for the night.

12/08: Nicho

Lo Mejor de Lucha Libre has an interview with Nicho, mostly hyping up a trios match this Saturday in Monterrey. He only briefly refers to the car incident, claiming he was “kidnapped by the police for 4 days.” That’s one way of putting it.

There’s a Origin Of Lucha Libre article on Terra.com (which hosts the CMLL site, or at least has ads on it.) It’s oddly written. The lead in says lucha libre goes back to the French in 1863, and never explains more about what happened in 1863.

I have no idea who this guy is, but that’s quite the outfit.

Yes, that’s all the news I have. Sorry! I’ll make something up next time. I’ll go over tonight’s big cards later.

Diablo no longer complaining

Hijo del Diablo has reversed from earlier this week. He talked to the promoter on Monday and they settled their differences – Diablo implies here that he was paid more, but doesn’t outright say it, so maybe he’s just saving face. Diablo wants to set the record (clearing up rumors on the Internet, whatever that is): the promoter owes him nothing more, and they’re all friends now.

No mention of all those other people who were supposedly not paid. Diablo states that this was all cleared up on Monday – so why it did take till Friday for anyone to hear about it?

Diablo also explains he would’ve beat Mistico – in two straight falls, no less! – but he slipped and Mistico got lucky. Diablo’s going to create a new look for himself and continue wrestling.
