on (h)Efesto

I’m now thinking it’s a new guy and not a typo

Efesto, it turns out, is the Italian word for greek god Hephaestus. In Spanish, his name is Hefesto, so I think they might have just dropped the silent H.

He is the god of technology including, specifically blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals and metallurgy, and fire.

That sure does sound like someone Mephisto and Averno would be hanging out with. Let’s hope he’s not Tall, or this is Eclipse, the sequal. Actually, if he’s god of tech, it’d be very sad if the wrestler who lords over this site wasn’t good. He better be awesome.

11/30: Nicho, Konnan Big vs Rayo de Jalisco, Tampico, Solidaridad

(alexis – cmll.com)

Nicho is scheduled to work a show in Monterrey next Saturday, teaming up with Averno & Mephsito to take on Mistico, Sagrado, and Blue Panther. (valta81 @ elmartinete) I don’t know that this means he’s in CMLL for good – he’s probably going to work as an indy.

The main event of Arena Coliseo Monterrey this weekend is Konan Big vs Rayo de Jalisco in a title vs mask match. I don’t think Rayo’s going down. (Thanks Keith)

CMLL (MON) 12/05 Auditorio Municipal Tampico Lineup [sol de tampico]
3) Astro Boy & Super Nova vs Dr. Karonte Jr. & Escandalo
4) Brazo de Platino & Maximo vs Nitro & Sangre Azteca
5) Mistico & La Mascara vs Atlantis & Tarzan Boy

There’s a interview with Mistico to hype Monday’s show in Tampico. Apparently, he’s not shown the last two times he was scheduled to be in Tampico, but vows to make it this time, and he’s doing an autograph signing earlier in the day.

According to the Sol de Monterrey (via RFC), the promoter of Arena Solidaridad is switching back to AAA wrestlers this Sunday (though that’s the last show of the year.) They ran a CMLL show last weekend.

Negro Casas & Texano in NJPW

Negro Casas and Texano Jr. are in NJPW. Yes, that’s what happened to them.

I haven’t been much interesting in this excursion, becuase it’s such a random meaningless pairing; these two haven’t teamed in CMLL, and won’t be when they come back. I’m not expecting to win title or achieve some higher rank or leap ahead in progress; they’re just gone for a couple weeks. I think I ought to care, because Negro’s still good and Texano’s got the connections were you know he’ll be an important part of CMLL (or AAA) in years to come, but I can’t get too worked up over a nothing happening tour.

Fittingly, the tour I can’t get worked up about is the one where the lucha guys are actually getting wins. NJPW’s setting up a tour ending IWRG Junior Heavyweight Tag Title match, Negro and Texano challenging Jado and Gedo. This is the same championship Felino & Negro challenged for last year. The lucha team’s gotten some wins to build towards the match, and Jado & Gedo have insisted on contesting the title match under lucha libre rules to leave no doubt about their (sure thing) victory.

(Results via Strong Style Spirt)

11/25: Tiger Mask, Negro Casas, Texano Jr. b Jado, Gedo, Milano Collection AT {DQ Milano}
11/26: Koji Kanemoto, Negro Casas, Texano Jr. b Jushin Liger, Minoru, Prince Evitt {Kanemoto beat Minoru}
11/29: Negro Casas & Texano Jr. b Mitsuhide Hiraswa & Tetsuya Naito {Texano {Torando Texas} Naito}
(I’d guess that’s the fireman’s carry backbreaker.)

12/02: Negro Casas, Texano Jr., Ryusuke Taguchi vs Jushin Liger, Jado, Gedo [lucha libre rules]
12/03: Negro Casas, Texano Jr. vs El Samurai & Ryusuke Taguchi

12/07: Koji Kamemoto, Negro Casas, Texano Jr. vs Jado, Gedo, Minoru
12/09: Tiger Mask, Negro Casas, Texano Jr. vs Jado, Gedo, Milano Collection AT
12/10: Jado & Gedo vs Negro Casas, Texano Jr. [IWRG JR TAG, lucha libre rules]

11/08 AAA Guerra de Titanes Possible Lineup

anto_141286 on the Box Y Lucha board posted a card for next Friday’s AAA Guerra de Titanes. Not completely sure it’s authentic, but it’s got a bit of plausibility to it. (This is also what KrisZ posted in the comments.)

AAA (FRI) 12/08 Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas Lineup
1) Billy Boy, Faby Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata, Mascarita Sagrada vs El Apache, Polvo de Estrellas, Rossy Moreno, Mini Abismo Negro
2) Elegdio, Laredo Kid, Alebrije, Angel vs Abismo Negro, Antifaz, Charly Manson, Histeria
3) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Psicosis II vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
4) Brazo de Plata & Intocable vs Scorpio Jr. & Alan Stone [chain, hair]
5) La Parka Jr., Octagon, Zorro vs ?, ??, ??
6) Cibernetico vs Muerte Cibernetcio

Like most shows since Triplemania, it’s a lot of rehashing of things done before. 3rd is a rematch from the Atomicos title switch, 4th was done with Brazo de Plata Jr. in Intocable’s place (and no hair on the line), the 5th match is yet another AAA Tecnicos vs Foreign Legion match (Konnan and the Head Hunters or TNA guys – EVIL SHARK BOY), and they just did the main event on 11/18.

AAA has said they’d do more of the AAA Tag tournament on the show, which is the main iffy reason I’m not sure about the card. Not sure AAA’s right though – Alan Stone’s match would come up on this show if they did matches here, and I don’t think they’d have him twice. (They could substitute in the tag tournament, sure.)

Tonight’s the last AAA taping before the show, so I expect we’ll get some confirmation on the card over the weekend.

CMLL 12/15 Lineup

CMLL’s announced the lineup for it’s last major show of the year, on 12/15.

CMLL (FRI) 12/15 Arena Mexico Lineup
1) Super Nova, Flash vs Super Comando, Artillero
2) Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori vs Hiroka, Princesa Sujei, Amapola
3) Dr. Wagner Jr., Rey Bucnaero, Dos Caras Jr. vs LA Park, Olimpico, Eclipse
4) Mistico, Volador Jr., Ultimo Dragon vs Averno, Mephisto, Efesto
5) Shocker, Universo 2000 vs Marco Corleone, Kenzo Suzuki [hair]

Main’s listed as a double hair match, so Marco and Kenzo are surely going down.

I have no idea who Efesto is supposed to be. I presume a typo, but that’s not close to anything – so a new Assassin? Mistico wouldn’t have been able to work if the show as 12/01, and now he’s in the semi-main. Had to be a factor in the rescheduling.

I’d assume it’s still on PPV. Tickets go on sale next week.

CMLL’s all announced the winners of it’s bodybuilding contest, which took place 11/29. There were 40 participants, and the winners were:

Mini: Pequeno Damian
Women: Dark Angel
Newer: Super Nova
Intermediate: Mictlan
Advanced: Olimpico

All those fruits and vegetables paid off! Mictlan still has yet to actually wrestle in a match (though, if he’s being listed in the intermediate category, he probably has been around a while and wrestled as someone else – the Soberano idea seems to make as much since as anything, since he’s vanished.)
