Lots of articles on Huracan Ramirez over the last day. It’s one of the top sports stories today in Mexico.
– Notimex obit
– Axxel spoke about the man who was his father-in-law.
– Bobby Lee about him and Huracan leading a locker room rebellion in Panama when the promoter wasn’t paying the workers enough. Bobby Lee is am.com.mx’s go to guy.
– Arturo Rivera talks about Daniel Garcia’s unsuccessful fight to own the Huracan Ramirez name.
– La Cronica (republished elsewhere – or maybe this is a republish) has a longer bio on Garcia. Besides the in-ring, Huracan also suggested scripts for his movies, and created a photo magazine.
– Ovaciones credits Huracan with participating in the first luchador vs boxer match, in May of 1963. He won! YAY LUCHA. (Another story says he was just the first hispanic in such a match.)
– Esto talks about Hurcan’s rivalaries. They also explain how the gimmick started; it’d be kinda like if there were 5 different Metro’s wrestling at the same time, all pretending there was only one of them who just got around a lot. The comission put a stop to that, and Daniel Garcia was chosen as the one true Huracan.
– Picture of Huracan in the casket. It’s not the only one.
Mistico worked with Heavy Metal at the Qunita Estacion music video taping on Monday. The storyline in the video is Mistico and the female lead falling in love, which Mistico assures can’t happen in real life, because he’s too busy wrestling. (Pictures) I love how Heavy makes sure to say this is not his kind of music. Keeping it real!
Mistico is on the cover of this week’s Super Luchas. That’s a white mask, and it must’ve been quite the angle to build the mask match. On the cover of Luchas 2000, Latin Lover is ripping up a Perros del Mal shirt, so I guess that’s not happening.
Terry 2000 beat Black Terry for his hair in the final of the big AULL cage match. Haven’t seen full results. One of the channels AULL is on has dumped all sports programing. AULL is now airing once on Sundays on another channel.
Psicosis was officially released from WWE yesterday.

That’s a 9 vs 6 match, so I’m misunderstanding something. The gringos are from Arlington, Texas’ PCW, and showing up elsewhere in Monterrey over the weekend; they claim Hernandez/Mr. Texas as a former member (and Lance Hoyt’s a current regular in the group), so that’s probably the connection.
What interests me more is we’re to believe someone said “My god, our Junior Welterweight division is taking off! We simply must have a brand new belt to capture the excitement, because any one of the five hundred other belts in northern Mexico (alone) will not suffice!” It’s listed as part of a tournament, but I dunno.
Arena Coliseo Monterrey has Latin Lover & Hector Garza teaming (awkward if Garza’s been to the magazine stand!) vs Konan Big & Humberto Garza Jr.
The Nacho Libre Nintendo DS game is not getting good reviews.
How often am I cited in the same post as the Universal Deceleration of Human Rights? Not often enough!
