4) Chris Stone, Scorpio Jr. vs Brazo de Plata, Brazo de Plata Jr.
5) La Parka Jr., Octagon, Zorro vs ?, Konnan, Muerte Cibernetica

Yes, that main event, AGAIN. Of more interest is how this is setting up to be the longest tag team tournament in the history of man, because it’s not just a 16 team single tournament (with 4 teams TBA), but, as threatened, a 16 team league style tournament. Konnan said everything for the rest of the year had pretty much been booked out, so if this all magically comes off with a hitch, Antonio Pena is an even greater man than any of us figured.

League Tournament Standings
once we get all 16 teams, I’ll probably do more with this, but here’s what we got so far.
(Wins are 3 points, Losses are 0 points, they said nothing about draws so let’s just assume they’re 1 point.)

3 Cuervo & Ozz (though they actually list Scoria here – that’s a good start)
3 Alan & Decnnis
3 Pirata Morgan & Charly Manson
3 Oriental & Mascara Divina
0 Alan & Decnnis
0 Juventued Guerrera & Psicosis
0 Hator & Chris Stone
0 Scoria & Espiritu
– Intocable & Elegido (a perfect team)
– Alan Stone & Zumbido (so they have Alan Stone, and they have Chris Stone, and they have two teams?)
– Laredo Kid & El Angel
– Histeria & Antifaz

Who’s that leave? Porky and Son, two of the Pirata Jr.’s both sound good. La Parka Jr., Octagon, Konnan, Muerte Cibernetico, Cibernetico, Zorro and Chessman are all probably too busy in main events. Two of the Air Force, and Gran Apache and – Billy Boy? Kaoma Jr.? Extreme Tiger? Though this leaves out the exoticos.

This has to be 4 blocks of 4 teams. That’d mean ‘only’ 12 total tapings before we’d get to the finals (or 9 more after hones that have been announced.

Other news
– Octagon’s hit 25 years as pro (though only 18 as Octagon)
– Guapos want another shot at the Atomicos titles
– Piero collects lucha things. Send them to the AAA offices if you’d like.
– many arenas want to host Guerra de Titanes, but it’ll probably be at Coso de Lomas de Sotelo, and it’ll probably have Scorpio Jr. vs Super Porky in a hair match.
– Cibernetico’s coming back at the end of November. As far as you’re supposed to know. This is followed by an indepth look at his motorcycle. PASS.

  1. There are aren’t enough tapings left heading into Guerra De Titanes for it to be a round robin tournament or even an elimination tournament. I’m guessing when the final group wrestles, there will be 8 teams with wins and at Guerra De Titanes there will be two seperate four corner tag matches with the winners of each group facing each other later in the night for the titles. Pena isn’t creative enough to come up with a round robin format and actually stick to it since those have to be planned out way in advance and in major detail. Konnan is also not capable of doing something like that or even finishing a tournament he started so he’d be more likely to rush it even more and just do a gauntlet style match at Guerra De Titanes.

That taping looks alright to me. Opener should be good as usual… I missed seeing Billy Boy/Gran Apache work together. I assume they will be off all TV shows come to 2007. Secta vs MexPower… bleh. They’ve been running that since July. I wonder how good these tag matches are? Like are they actually being given time as the National Middleweight tourney or are they just 5 minute sprints ala … well… 2 minute sprints ala CMLL tournament matches. And of course – which no-name TNA guy is Konnan bringing in this time?

  2. They did continue the Middleweight tournament last year past Titanes last year, taking it into 2006. Because that made sense in the end, I have a little hope they might be able to pull it off here – it might just be something they do on TV tapings when they have nothing else to do, while not showing up on the major cards at all.

I’m hoping this is the debut of fiendish foreign heel Shark Boy.

  3. Orizaba show took place in October and aired already, and it was a full house!! No one cares about who Konnan bring aboard, but to tell the true, although it ‘looks’ as if the rudo side is stronger, actually, there’s no main player for now. Besides Muerte Cibernetica, I think only Abismo and Manson might be considered main eventers, and they almost get as cheered as Ciber, so… I guess that’s the reason AAA tolerates Konnan and his gang, they are automatic heels even if they do nothing to earn it… or even if the crowd seems to like them, like with Killings.

I agree with Cubs that the tournament might go on beyond Guerra de Titanes. Konnan told a bunch of lies in WOL, why should we believe anything that he said? AAA is only using him for the main event, but the rest of the show is run by Copetes and Dorian or whoever, I doubt Pe
