09/05: Puebla, blood, lineups

So my rule is, when nothing’s going on, post a picture of a bloody Silver King and a bloody Solitario. They were fighting in Pachuca last week and they’ll be fighting some more this week. Apparently, the angle here is the promoter telling Hijo del Solitario that he’s not the wrestler his dad was, and Hijo del Solitario being somehow upset with this obviously true statement. Silver King is there because Silver King is everywhere. (There’s a little bit of Silver King in every one of us.)

CMLL (MON) 09/04 Arena Puebla Results [hugo999]
1) Fuerza Tiger, Murcielago b Iron, King Jaguar
2) Fuerza Chicana, Karissma, Toro Bill Jr. b Blue Center, Centella de Oro, Zigma
3) Batman, Okada, Sagrado b Bobby Jack, Ohara, Yankee Star
4) Heavy Metal, La Mascara, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Dragon DQ Atlantis, Eclipse, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero
5) Black Warrior b Mistico [NWA MIDDLE]

Box Y Lucha is having a chat with Angel at 2 PM today. Guess they got over their ‘no AAA wrestlers’ anger. I expect a billion questions about Shocker and Zumbido. (Poor Angel.)

Box Y Lucha #2782 is half Rey coming to Mexico, half Shocker returning to CMLL. The poster has shots from the CMLL main event.

Lineups are below

09/04: Coliseo

magazinecmll.com is updated, but none of the links on the left are working. So I dunno.

CMLL (SUN) 09/03 Arena Coliseo Results
1) Pequeno Violencia, Pierrothito b Bracito de Oro, Pequeno Olimpico
2) India Sioux, Lady Apache, Princesa Blanca b Amapola, La Nazi, Rosa Negra
3) Brazo de Oro, Metro II, Virus b Mr. Mexico, Ohara, Okumura
4) Felino, Sagrado, Satanico b Alex Koslov, Eclipse, Olimpico
Felino filled in for Rey.
5) Heavy Metal, Mistico, Negro Casas b Averno, Black Warrior, Mephisto
Complete build to Mistico vs Warrior, but it was the Casas brothers getting the pins on Averno & Mephisto to win

Shocker told NOTIMEX (Mexico’s AP) he jumped back to CMLL because he wanted to fight guys like Dr. Wagner Jr. and Ultimo Guerrero and his contract with AAA had finished. There’s already a little disagreement about if Shocker asked to join Perros del Mal, or the group asked Shocker to join. Perro promises more surprises.

CMLL says the anniversary show will be on 08/29. Revised guess-timate schedule:

08/08 – Black Warrior vs Mistico – LdP semifinal Final – that’s what CMLL is billing it as
08/15 – Mistico vs Atlantis – LdP final (they’re back to defending the crown)
08/15 – Mistico vs Black Warrior, NWA Middleweight Title
08/22 – last build for anniversary
08/29 – anniversary (Santo/Mistico vs Warrior/Perro?)

Today’s a day off for me and I’ve got places to be, so we’ll go over lineups tommorow.

09/03 news: RXLL, AAA big show announced, WON HOF

RXLL (SAT) 09/02 Universidad de Gudalajara Results [box y lucha forum]
1) Hego Boy I, Hego Boy II b Zokre & Phoenix Star
2) Turbo b X-Fly and Shiryu Dragon and Akuma and Flash and ?
3) Lacey b Nic Grimes
Nic Grimes is American Angel
4) Extreme Tiger b Mortiz
5) ? & ?? b ??? & ????
6) Flash II & Tropico b Kaos & Aaron Aguilra
7) Ron Killings b Bobby Lee Jr.
8) Vampiro b X-Pac
Lots of crowd brawling. According the report, Vampiro won by side slamming X-Pac onto a barbed wire board which exploded.

The Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame lucha-related inducetes are Eddie Guerrero and … hmmm, no, no one else lucha related. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. (Aja Kong also won induction and did wrestle in Mexico at one point.)

noteworthy percentages, from this thread which is getting it from another board’s thread I’m too lazy too look up now.

Name % Change from 2005
Eddy Guerrero 69% +39
Paco Alonso 57% NC
Dr Wagner Sr. 56% +4
Konnan 55% +44
Villano III 49% -1
Blue Panther 26% -4
Jose Lothario 17% +6
Chris Jericho 12% +2

60% is the cut off, so a few people were awful close. I’m missing the case for Paco Alonso and need someone to explain to me. That’s much higher than I was expecting. Konnan sure got better this year.

AAA updated their website on Friday around 6:30 (so a few hours before Shocker showed up in Arena Mexico – his profile is still there as of Saturday night), to hype Verano de Escandalo (Summer Scandal, their next big show.) The big news it the VdE lineup, including the promised TNA wrestlers

AAA TV (SUN) 09/17 Arena Cuatro Caminos de Nuevo Laredo Lineup
1) Cinthia Moreno, El Elegido, Mascara Sagrada, Pimpinela vs La Diabolica, Mini Abismo Negro, Pirata Morgan, Polvo de Estrellas
2) Laredo Kid vs Kaoma Jr. vs El Apache [dream, toreno, final]
3) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera, Psicosis II vs AJ Styles, Homicide, Low-Ki, Ron Killings vs Chessman, Cuervo, Ozz, Scoria vs ?, Abismo Negro, Electroshock, Histeria
4) Intocable, Oriental, Super Porky, Zorro vs Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., Shocker, Zumbido
5) Estrellita, Tiffany vs Chrity Hemme, Traci Brooks
6) ??, La Parka Jr., Octagon vs Abyss, Jeff Jarrett, Konnan

Obviously, there are changes to be made. Who knows what’ll be come of the 4th match with Shocker gone (and strong rumors that Zumbido is to follow.) The ? in the 3rd match is Extreme Tiger’s old spot, so the mystery there is probably one to them as well. The main event mystery is a tease of a jump, but they probably don’t have anyone set for that spot. Though Laredo Kid is in that three way match, it’s odd not to see all of Fuerza Aerea on this card, given how hard they’ve been pushed.

AAA’s also updated their history for this event.

Accion highglights with Dr. Morales
CMLL: main event trios, showcasing Shocekr’s turn. Panther did TWO dives. Wagner is wearing Olimico style gear, but got lifted up tby the seconds fora a top rope Aguayo double stomp, that’s the end of him.
AAA: The Atomicso match for the belts between the Mexipowers and the Black Family. I’m not sure if I was following things right, but there seemed to a momentary issue between Chessman and the rest of his team. Spots spots carefully talking their way thru spots. La Secta wins clean.

Luchas 2000 has a cover of Shocker in his new Perros shirt, and the debut of a couple second generation wrestlers. Super Luchas has a set of pictures of how it happened., and Super Luchas Graphico has a big photo of Hulk Hogan at SummerSlam.

The poster for the Ultimo Dragon Gym show on 09/10 is circulating. (front, back)

Ovaciones bit I forget – el Hijo del Diablo is selling a music CD. Of him singing. I have not found this on Soulseek yet.

09/02: Mexico results, thoughts on Shocker’s jump, TV notes

CMLL (FRI) 09/01 Arena Mexico Results [ova, Galeno del Mal, ocampo]
1) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico b Artillero, Super Comando
2) Felino, Maximo, Metro II b Mephisto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
3) Kenzo Suzuki, Pierroth, Universo 2000 b Hijo de Lizmark, La Mascara, Lizmark
Lizmark replaced in for Blue Panther
4) Mistico b Negro Casas, Sagrado, Volador Jr., Atlantis, Mr. Aguila, Averno, Alex Koslov [ciber, LdP, sf]
According to Ernesto’s report, this was very much not a good night for Mistico. He was missing spots, including important ones near the end, and Volador Jr. outshined him. Negro was out third, pinned by Averno. Damian and Aguila ended up on opposite teams and fought, with Aguila eliminating Damian with a 450 to lead to the final versus Mistico.
5) Hector Garza, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible b Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal
Shocker showed up as a Perro here. Panther replaced Rey Bucanero, who had a knee injury. This match went 20 minutes, with a long 12 minute final fall and captain Wagner dropping the fall.

You know, Shocker’s jump to AAA will go down as a horrible move for him, but I think it was eventually to CMLL’s benefit. Shocker would’ve been a compulsively main eventer, which means one less main event tecnico spot for the guys who they pushed harder in the interim, like Mistico (which worked out probably better than they thought), Dr. Wagner Jr. (which hasn’t been as big a success), and Atlantis (which did work, but not at all how they planned.) Maybe things would’ve gone good with Shocker around adding to them, but given the crowd size he’s returning to, they did pretty okay with him.

I don’t know about putting him in with the Perros. Like people have mentioned, this group’s getting a bit too big to mean anything (Perro, Hector, Shocker, Aguila, Halloween, Damian, Terrible, with possibly Latin to come and Misterioso hanging around on the edges). I think you want to avoid him teaming with the Guerreros, so he can be just a lone wolf rudo, but I guess someone didn’t want to see him tecnico.

I guess this means Terrible and Shocker have patched up their differences. What a great day for us all.

I would love to see an extended Rey Bucanero/Shocker feud; they’ve worked well together, and they both need something right away.

This is one of those times where a comment response to Robert masquerades as “content”

Shocker was in AAA, but he’s a CMLL guy and given the near complete failure of Shocker in AAA, I don’t think anyone wants to think of him as an AAA guy. To CMLL fans, I think it’s less a jump than a return from a long time “away” (where away was forgotten feuds with Sangre Chicana and all too remembered feud with rappers. OMG where does this leave JJ?)

In fact, even though a lot of the guys in Perros del Mal came from AAA, are they really considered AAA guys?

Terrible, Damian and Halloween – of course not
Hector – of course yes (though at some point, that does wear off; not sure we’re there yet)
Perro – I think the fans think of him as an Aguayo first and foremost, beyond being a member of any promotion. And given his initial huge push, the crowd turning on him, and Perro going to rudo, he’s distanced from his AAA stint.
Aguila – I don’t know that he ‘belongs’ to any promotion, because of the long WWE gap in his career, and having flipped back and forth between the groups

If Pena came on AAA TV announcing he sent Los Perros to take over CMLL, CMLL could just as easily have the Perros do a bit on CMLL TV denying that and mocking Pena/AAA. Which side would the fans take? (Please do not answer with a graphical sig.)

The other point is Latin and Shocker were not actually put on top. They didn’t beat anyone, the match was not arrange around them and they put on shirts indicating they were joining a group as a member, not the leader – Perro’s still bigger than them in Arena Mexico. It’s not as if the PdM all became Guapos (though I would like to see Damian try.)

TV notes

Guerreros del Ring aired
08/27 Hombre sin Nombre, Misterioso, Sangre Azteca b Sagrado, Texano Jr., Volador Jr.
08/27 Heavy Metal, La Mascara, Volador Jr. b Mascara Ano 2000, Pierroth, Universo 2000

So LL on FSE probably has
08/27 Dos Caras Jr., Hijo de Lizmark, Mistico DQ Damian 666, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Aguila
08/27 Mascara Purpura, Stuka Jr., Virus b Hooligan, Loco Max, Nitro
though that Segunda is iffy.

Gala is airing the scheduled 07/30 Arena Coliseo Monterrey show. There’s no way you can get me to watch Electroshock/Zorro again.

Rey and Chavo are now listed on WWE.com’s lineups for the Mexico tour. (Thanks to Mike Informer)

Tonight’s the first RXLL taping. If I see results, I’ll post them tommorow.

Shocker returns to Arena Mexico

Shocker showed up as a member of Perros del Mal, helping them in their match.

Mistico won the Leyenda de Plata Block B cibernetico, beating Mr. Aguila in the final. He meets Black Warrior next week.

Rey Bucanero was out injuried and replaced by Blue Panther.

09/01: Guadalajara, Mexico preview

There are rumors going the lucha boards around that Shocker’s jumped back to CMLL to redebut on 09/17. I have less than full confidence of this.

Actually, the better random lucha boast post is the one where someone did one of those Chuck Norris bits, but replaced Chuck Norris with Universo 2000. GENIUS.

CMLL (TUE) 08/29 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Results
1) Milenio b Thunder Boy
2) Destroyer b Estrella de Jalisco
3) Carlo Roggi b Mr. Trueno
4) India Sioux, Marcela b Hiroka, La Nazi

5) Angel Blanco, Super Maquina b Maximo, Satanico
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Hijo de Lizmark, Metro II b Ohara, Okumura, Terrible

Mistico gets another shot of NWA Middleweight Championship on Monday in Puebla.

If you’re in Hidalgo, Texas this Saturday, Konnan’s signing autographs. Don’t tell him the article says he’s a “former” lucha libre star. (Thanks to mikeinformer)

Luchas 2000 Special 13 is about myths and legends.

Tonight’s the second part of the Leyenda de Plata.

CMLL (FRI) 09/01 Arena Mexico
1) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico vs Artillero, Super Comando
2) Felino, Maximo, Metro II vs Mephisto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
3) Blue Panther, Hijo de Lizmark, La Mascara vs Kenzo Suzuki, Pierroth, Universo 2000
4) Mistico vs Negro Casas and Sagrado and Volador Jr. and Atlantis and Mr. Aguila and Averno and Alex Koslov [ciber, LdP, sf]
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal, Rey Bucanero vs Hector Garza, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible

The only thing that matters here is the cibernetico. (Though it’s worth noting we haven’t gotten the promised annoucement about the Anniversary card.) I strenously disagree with Robert’s notion earlier this week that we’re about to get a Negro Casas power play here. It’s totally going to be Mistico as the winner, and if it’s not, I’ll plug Robert’s new blog every day for a week.

Speaking of: Robert Bihari is reposting his reviews over at luchareviews.blogspot.com. Right now, it’s only stuff you’ve may seen elsewhere, but arranged a bit nicer. More stuff is on the way.

Backtracking for a second, this is what seems set up for the month

09/01: Leyenda de Plata, Block B
09/08: Leyenda de Plata final (which means if the final leads directly to the Anniversay main event, they can’t actually announce it till here)
09/15: buffer week to build Anniversary match (though it’s mexican independence Eve, so I’m suspecting a title match somewhere this weekend)
09/22: Anniversary main event
09/29: first appearance of guy who lost his mask at the anniversary show
