Lucha Times

Saturday/Sunday: The 07/28 taping from Madero. Tuco said it was just okay, Robert said – I don’t remember what Robert said. If only I didn’t have to navigate thru a thread to figure such things out.

CMLL Velocity & Heat: Matches from Arena Coliseo! I’m still lost to figuring out which goes where, and there’s not two ‘main event’ matches to split here. Looks like FSE’s show moved back a couple hours this week. (Yay for DVRs.)

“AAA: The entire Madero show aired as expected. Fuerza Aerea vs Secta opener was AWWWWWWWWWWESOME. Lots of great flying spots as usual and a candidate for spot of the year! Ozz was sent outside and Rey Cometa(of course – HE RULES!) did a springboard off the second rope, then turned it into a twisting armdrag on the floor! It’s REALLY hard to explain but think about the twisting armdrag Skayde does off the turnbuckles on Claudio usually(he did it in the Chikara tag finals) except this was OUTSIDE THE RING and nailed 100% perfect! Fucking awesome! I am convinced one of these days Rey Cometa is gonna bust out the first ever Venum-style tornillo into an armdrag. Hell, maybe next week in Monterrey! Finish had a bunch of crazy dives such as Super Fly with another gorgeous springboard hanging moonsault! Centauro made his debut in the next match although I’m not sure why. I pictured this big jacked up dude ala Luzbel but he was just a normal looking dude in a bad mask. He wasn’t awful in the ring but he definitely didn’t stand out. Mascarita/Mini Abismo were supposed to save the match but they didn’t get to do much and what they did was the same stuff they’ve been doing for years.:/ There were a bunch of dives at the end, the best being Estrellita’s blind corkscrew on a running Mini Abismo Negro which was dangerous as hell. MexPower vs Barrios wasn’t as bad as I imagined it would be. They gave it three falls for some reason. Lots of the usual U.S. indy style moves. They did a pretty crazy triple suplex from outside the ring and back inside with the MexPower guys taking the bumps. Alan horribly blew a tope suicida and the crowd laughed at him. Joe Lider then superplexed Billy Boy off the top rope to the floor onto Alan/Juventud. Scary spot. Even scarier was the finish as Decnis setup two chairs and laid a few tighttubes across them. He went up but Psicosis did a run-in and crotched him. Then Crazzy Boy used a Spanish Fly to put Decnis through the lighttubes but he got DQ’ed for it. They’re gonna hurt someone really bad doing spots where they take no damage at all ala the superplex and Spanish Fly. Semi-main was above average and main sucked as you’d expect. Gronda II taking the clean pinfall, even if all three guys were covering him, is still odd.”

If you don’t like AAA, this show is not gonna win you over.

I think I have GdR hour 1(Sat.) and hour 2(Sun.) figured out! Watch and learn…

    Hour 1:
    – Sagrado/Texano Jr./Volador Jr. vs Azteca/HSN/Misterioso
    – Metal/Volador Jr./some dude I don’t care about vs Pierroth/MA2K/U2K

    Hour 2:
    – Virus/Purpura/Stuka Jr. vs Hooligan/Loco Max/Nitro
    – Dos Jr./Liz Jr./Mistico vs Perrito/Aguila/Damian

Normally it’d be time to get excited with a great segunda airing, Mistico/Aguila opposite each other and two Volador Jr. matches but let’s be honest folks… both these shows suck and are mail-in city. At most we can hope for a couple neat dives.

  2. You seriously need to spend five minutes, sign up free on blogger.com (or a half dozen other places) and post all your recap stuff (actually broken down by recap) there, because it can be quite a pain to track thru the luchaworld or DVDVR thread to find it. Also, I’m lazy and don’t feel like indexing it – yet.

  3. Broken down my recap is more than 5 minutes!!!

But it’s not a bad idea at all. Maybe I’ll give it a shot? I feel like having a blog would mean lots of guilt when I don’t update for a few days.

  4. That is the AAA show that aired last week on Gala…

Not a big AAA fan in general, although I will freely admit they do have some good workers and decent matches on occasion, but often AAA just seems sloppy, and that is what turns me off. That show seemed to be ridiculously sloppy to me, especially the Mexipowers/Barrio Boys match.

And why was Porky bleeding on the way to the ring?

Seemed like Zorro getting the mask pulled off in that manner was anticlimactic as well.

  5. I think i read that Volador didn’t do double duty last Sunday, he just moved into the Semi and was replaced in his original tercera By Kronos of all people – Ugh…

Not so good really, because you’d see a better Volador when he’s in with Sangre/Misterioso/HSN than you would v Pierroth of the Dinimitas.

  6. Looking at pictures, you’re right. You see the downside, but I look at a chance for Kronos to possibly prove he’s interesting. OPTIMISM! (I must be sick.)
